It is a very peaceful and delightful place. I am just enjoying the fresh air and sounds of water besides the river. The filling is at next level. We have one temple also at above the fort and we have barricades all around the fort.

Thalner fort was built on the banks of river Tapi. This fort which has been a witness to many glorious reigns, currently stands in a sorry condition due to inattentiveness by the locals and government authorities. Thalner was once the capital center for Khandesh region which was an important part route on the Surat-Burhanpur trade route. The famous singer of India Ms. Lata Mangeshkar had her grandparents from Thalner. During 1128 A.D the control of this fort was with Jivaji and Govaji of Gavli or Ahir family. Devgiri’s King, Bajirao’s son Daulatrao awarded the control of this fort to Jivaji and Govaji when he had visited Thalner and noticed that the fort was well maintained while the other 23 forts in the nearby region were in ruins In 1370 A.D. Ferozeshah Tughlak won the area of Khandesh and appointed Malikraja Faruki to administer the region of Gujarat. Thalner was made his capital center. The very next year the Sultan of Gujarat attacked Malikraja and captured his territory and Malikraja took refuge in Thalner fort. After his death in 1497 A.D. the control was passed on to his second son. This went against the will of the first son who then alongwith the support of Sultan of Malwa attacked Thalner and took it under his control in 1417 A.D. In 1418 A.D. the Sultan of Gujarat Mohammed Begada captured Thalner and looted the nearby provinces and in 1511 A.D. he handed over half of Khandesh region to his commander in chief Malik Hasanuddin. He allegedly got murdered the next year. In 1566 A.D. Changez Khan who was the Sultan of Gujarat defeated the King of Khandesh Miran Mohammed. The control of this fort went to Akbar in 1600 A.D. and during this period the fort was prosperous and had vital importance being on the trade route of Surat-Burhanpur. In 1750 A.D. when the Peshwas took over the fort it was handed over to the Holkars and then it was further passed on to the Nimbalkars in 1800 A.D. however the Holkars took it back the very next year. The British General Sir Thomas Hissop encountered a bloody massacre when he went to conquer the fort in 1818 A.D. This conquest is known to be one of the bloodiest conquests in history. Around 250 Maratha and 25 British soldiers were killed in this war.

Thalner killa located in shirpur taluka , district Dhule. Thalner is indian Town ,the first capital of the Feruqi King, stand on the tapi river. The name Thalner probably derived from Thaleshwar temple. Today only a small portion of the walls that were on the river side is standing, the others having collapsed for the most part. There are no many more monuments to see here. U can explore this fort with in half and hr, end of the village there are stairs to go on the fort. There is one temple on this fort (shaptarshungi temple). You can enjoy the view from here at evening. Hill, river, greenery, and sunset its best combination.

Constructed in 1128 as per records, the Thalner fort is as much a historical marvel as it is a tourist attraction and has seen many change of hands in ownership during its longevity and as a token of tribute to this fact holds many Muhammedan tombs in its premises. Thalner is a fortified town close to Dhule city in Maharashtra and is home to many military outposts, the Thalner Fort being of primary significance amongst them due to its strategic location and massive stature. At the foot of this fort which lies at the summit of a small hill, lies an ancient and prehistoric stone temple dedicated to the deity Thaleshwar after whom the city of Thalner and its main military fort, take name. Thalner is a scenic location on the banks of the Tapi River, the fort built on an elevation to overlook the riverfront from a height. It was the stronghold of Faruqi kings and once a significant hub of trade and commerce during the peak of its glory. The Thalner fort was a brilliant piece of architectural and shrewd military marvel. While it was surrounded by a hollow embanked moat on 3 sides, the fort wall rose from the Tapi River, thereby giving inhabitants safety from attack on 3 sides and the river always open for emergency exit. The only entrance is made available on the eastern side after traversing 5 gates all held together by a genius mechanism whose enclosure would rise up to the height of the main wall. The Thalner fort is open all days, yet tourist are advised to visit there in daylight time due to the difficult terrain.

Thalner fort - It is here Malik (Ahmad Khan) Raja (ruled 1382 - 1399) whose ancestors were nobles in the courts of Delhi Sultanate started the dynasty in 1382 after he conquered the fort and region around. The dynasty is known as the Khandesh Sultanate (because of the region’s name) or Farooqui dynasty (because of the fact Malik Raja claimed his descent from the second Caliph Umar-al-Faruq) It was the time of turmoil throughout India after Delhi Sultanate weakening and different regions claiming their independence while Farooqui dynasty was 4th among them. This fort was their forte and with them till the end of the dynasty in 1601 by Mughal ruler Akbar. Thalner fort is the land fort at only 100 mt from sea level but have the importance of having 1st capital of Farooqui dynasty and is constructed by Malik Raja. There is nothing but a very small temple of Saptashrungi Devi left on the fort with bushes and small trees grown on most of the land on fort. Despite being having history, the fort is ignored and wild bushes are growing inside it. However the view of Tapi river from the back of the fort is fascinating as it forms house shoe bend. Other places to visit in Thalnar are Jamadar Wada and Hajire - Kabr of the Khandesh Sultanate ruler.

Thalner, located on the River Tapi, is considered as the first capital of the Faruqi Kings. Situated in the tehsil of Shirpur, this place is around 46.67 km to the north-east of Dhule town. Thalner is believed to be named after the ancient temple of Thaleshwar, which is situated on the shores of the Tapi River. Thalner Fort is surrounded by a hollow way from the three sides and the fourth side rising out of the Tapi River. This hollow way has a width ranging from 91.44 to 137.16 metres. The walls lying above this hollow way have a height of around 18.28 metres. Tourists can enter this fort from the eastern side, which is believed to be covered by five successive gates. Only a negligible portion of the fortifications of the fort are located on the river side. It is believed that one of the bastions was destroyed by a flood brought on by the Tapi River.

From Sultan Firozshah Tughlaq of Delhi, Malik Khan got the status of the neighboring areas of Thalner and Karvand. He took control of Thalner and established the rule of the Faruq family and constructed a triangular-shaped fort at Thalner in 1370..
