Neighbor of highest fort in Maharashtra (Salher), Salota appears to be non-climbable when seen from its base or from top of Salher.. the route towards right of the fort, from the common point for both the forts will take you to the steps.. the top has 3 cisterns and a hanuman idol.. view of Salher is breathtaking..

Neighbor fort of salher fort with height 1295 meters. Surrounded with lush green nature. On top of the fort there is not much infra present, only 1 temple & 2-3 lakes are there. There are caves in between the way. But the way to reach the top is lifetime memory.

Moderate level trekking. To trek this fort you can go through 2 ways 1. Waghambe - nearest route 2. Salher Wadi It takes around 2 or 2 and half hour to reach to the top. This fort ia bit difficult in monsoon as some parts of route becomes muddy and slippery. Not forget to bring sufficient water with you, there is no source of drinking water.

Did Salher – Mulher – Salota – Hargad – Morgad range trek in two days and it's one of the must do trek ranges in sahyadri. Salher is a place located near Waghamba village in Nasik district of Maharashtra, India. According to a legend, Lord Parshuram did his Tapascharya (asceticism) at Salher Fort. Salher stands adjacent to Salota Fort in Selbari Mountain Range in Baglan region, Nasik district of Maharashtra at the height of 5141 feet above sea level. Mulher-Mora and Hargad forts stand in the Dolbar Mountain Range. Salher is the highest fort in Sahyadri Mountains (1567 Mtr.) & second highest in Maharashtra, after Kalsubai. The route to Salota is fairly tough but manageable. The route is full of scenery & at some places huge boulders have blocked the entrance. Mulher & Mora are adjacent to each other.

This fort is a gem. It can be accessed from salher fort. The view of the path from salher looks challenging, almost impossible. But then you start walking from the ridge joining salher-salota and slowly the beauty is revealed. The initial path is a 1 foot wide trodden path through just grass and earth. After about 15 minutes walk the real ascent starts. The initial path is on some exposed rocks, not carved steps. It takes about 15 more minutes. Some patches are slightly difficult but doable even for a novice. Then you come to the steps. This is the most beautiful and thrilling section. This is the patch that saps all the strength of a newbie. Luckily this patch also gets over in 20 minutes. The entrance door is blocked by fallen boulders. After crossing those you come to the horizontal traverse, the easiest and most rewarding section. You are greeted with cool breeze blowing from gap between salher-salota. You get the views of the salher fort steps in full detail. You are almost near the top. After going around the fort along this traverse, the entrance is a easy 5 minute climb to the plateau on top.

You can reach here from Waghambe gaon via Salher Salota common point Khind. There are lots is zigzag turns which you have to take to reach upto the steps which will take you to top of the fort. The view from top is amazing especially of Salher fort which will tempt you to visit Salher. The rock cutting and steps of Salher can be seen from Salota fort top. You get also see Mangi Tungi, Navhigad along with Salher from Salota fort top. Make sure you carry enough water with you and have a safe journey. Avoid plastic.

Salota Fort Some ruined remains are seen on the Salota Plateau. In the further part of this path, steps carved into the rock can be seen at some places. When looking at Salota fort from here, on the left side of the ridge, the fortifications of the fort, its towers and the gate of the fort can be seen.
