I booked a business trip to stay for one night at the Cliffside Boutique Getaway, and I am so disappointed in myself for not being able to stay another night or even three! From the first contact with Mmatau and her team, it has been professional, friendly, warm and welcoming. Nothing was too much effort for them! Staying in the beautiful Western Cape Winelands, I never thought the day would come when I would look forward to revisiting Johannesburg! Cliffside Boutique Getaway is a tranquil and peaceful haven amidst the busy city. I would rate it ten stars if I could! I had the pleasure to experience South Africa and Johannesburg in specific for the first time at this place. Cannot describe the amazing hospitality and welcoming i have had by Cindy, Paul and the team there. The pictures do not give the place its deserved credit. The reality is beyond extraordinary. It is a very peaceful, quiet place. Close to malls, restaurants, outings,…. You can go hiking, running or just sit to listen to the amazing nature sounds surrounding you. I’ll definitely be back whenever I plan a visit to Joburg.

We initially wanted to stay in the Cliffside room because of the outdoor area but because of last minute changes we were told we are booked in the Sunrise room. We got to the place and they upgraded us to the Horizon suite (it was our wedding anniversary). The suite is spacious, gorgeous and soo luxurious, the pictures don't do it justice. The staff is friendly from arrival to when you leave. The food is amazing, the place overall is beautiful. This place gets a 10/10 from me and i will be coming back again to the same room. If you want to escape the busy city and want to feel like you are in Mpumalanga, this is the place. Thank you for your hospitality and service with a genuine smile, until next time:)

Some of the best service, best food, and best facilities we have ever experienced. The staff is incredibly kind, welcoming and fun. No request was too much. And literally, from your bedroom, you walk straight onto the a hiking trail with gorgeous nature and views. Oh, and the garden is so pretty I could walk through for hours.

Highly recommended – beautiful facility, first class all the way. Outstanding food and they accommodated my vegetarian diet beautifully. We only had one night but never left the property other than to walk the trails behind the property to a lovely view of the city. Unique in that it felt like a beautiful home with lovely art, etc. and staff was very welcoming and helpful.

Just came back from The Cliff and I have to say, the 5 star treatment starts from the time you make he booking online or telephonically…. All the way until you leave the door and the staff actually walk you out! Myself, my wife and kid all felt as if we were living in our own home away from home, just 100 levels better 😀! Also, if you have a kid you are travelling with, you will forget you came him or her as ours was preoccupied with… we don’t know what, all we know is that she had lots of fun with the staff (Ausi Connie) and enjoyed the kitchen and some games… whilst we enjoyed our time. The food, not many better I can think of and we normally dine in the JHB upmarket restaurants. The Sauna was the cherry on top!!! Well done!

My husband and I stayed at this beautiful place after attending a wedding in Limpopo. It was the perfect getaway for a few days for us to rest up and reconnect. The food is phenomenal, from breakfast, charcuterie board, to dinner, and treats on the bed with turn down service. We couldn’t bring ourselves to eat anywhere else because we enjoyed it so much! Lamb, sirloin steak, seafood pasta! It was all delectable. Thank you to chefs Mbali and Phindy! We felt so taken care of by Mmatau and Cindy for anything we needed while we were there. They anticipate your every need and create a luxurious and relaxing environment that is immaculately clean. They made sure we got the Joburg experience by hooking us up with chauffeur extraordinaire Emmanuel who took us to the Apartheid Museum, Soweto, and Nelson Mandela’s house. He made sure we got to experience all aspects of Joburg, and even made trips to two different Puma stores for us to find special boots that are only sold in SA. Lastly, Paul and Elias were so friendly and helpful during our stay. Everyone we encountered was phenomenal and went the extra mile to make the stay not only memorable, but a place I can’t wait to come back to! Other areas to note: many beautiful balconies with views and a path to a viewing deck overlooking Joburg, a shower like a spa, pool with a waterfall fountain, walking paths on a cliffside that you can hike to the top with a guide, a great place to watch the many birds of Joburg (hadidas, go away bird, Guinea fowl ), sauna. We were so sad to leave because I’m not sure anywhere can compare to the services and amenities that are provided by the Cliffside! It’s my favorite place I’ve ever stayed.

We loved our stay at The Cliffside hotel. It far exceeded our expectations in every way. Be sure to consider staying in to eat the food that they offer. It is delicious! And be sure to bring walking shoes in order to explore the trails up behind the property. The views from the top are spectacular. Our kids enjoyed the pool facilities, and we loved the tastefully appointed rooms and comfortable beds. Our only regret was that we didn't plan for more days here. We are already planning another visit to South Africa and we will certainly be staying here when we come back!

I had the best stay at the Cliffside Hotel. It made my birthday memorable. Staff was so professional. They checked at us most of times. Made sure that we are comfortable with their service. I stayed in the sunrise room. It was clean, comfortable and sported a fantastic view, with bedding that gave me the best night of sleep I have had in ages! Otherwise, the food and the service was excellent. All around I had a great time at the Cliffside!

A unique experience that was clearly conceived out of love and passion. Between the art, food, design and service, it was an unforgettable stay. The team even organized a jazz band to perform against the backdrop of the city lights for the birthday of one of our group.

I recently stayed at the Cliffside with my family from Switzerland and could not recommend it enough. The Cliffside was my home away from home for a two week stay. I have stayed in many places and nothing matches the welcome we had at the Cliffside. Everything was incredible: cleanliness, attention to detail (vegan snacks at turn down service !), breakfast and evening meals, friendliness of the team and proximity to almost everything in Joburg. Plus a special guided hike up to the water tower. I spent my time working in the garden, relaxing by the pool and playing games in the lounge with my family - they have it all. To the whole Cliffside team: thank you ! And thank you for doing everything possible to make our stay so special. It is definitely one I won’t forget. I will be back soon.

Unbelievable 5 star experience, you forget that you are in the middle of Jhb the minute you enter this amazingly beautiful hotel. The rooms are exquisite with perfect attention to every single detail. The food, oh my word just heavenly... dinner and breakfast was just perfectly scrumptious.A stunning walking trail /hike to the top of Northcliff hill was a bonus.
