Absolutely incredible! Seeing the dinosaur tracks was one of the coolest experiences of my life! Garden cottage was clean and well looked after. Our 5 year old thoroughly enjoyed the plantation playground with the zipline. Location is picturesque with plenty of beautiful well-marked hiking options. Hosts were helpful and kind, making our stay just lovely. Pool and boma area were spotless and in close proximity to our cottage and the other chalets. We will certainly be coming back and hopefully be bringing some other friends with small kiddos along as well! Nice little secret gem, but have to stay a minimum of 2 nights at the least, to appreciate the property and facilities.

Very secluded (which is nice). Chalet we stayed in was clean, lovely and very reasonable. 3km driveway could use a clearing. Other than that would recommend. Will be back.

Mafube Mountain Retreat is a beautiful and tranquil escape from the busy life with a rich history. There is plenty to do and see on the farm, and there are walking routes available for both beginners and more advanced hikers. All in all we loved our stay there and would really recommend it. And Hillary and her husband were excellent hosts, assisting us where ever possible. 5/5

Awesome views with mountains surrounding you in three directions. This is a wonderful place to visit for anyone who loves hiking or the mountains. We enjoyed magnificent views on the hiking trails and also spotted some dinosaur footprints preserved from the Triassic. Children will also find this places fun, as there are two playground areas; and an easy 30 minute walk with a picnic spot--so even our 2 year old daughter went "hiking". The hosts and staff were very friendly and helpful, and we will definitely be back for another visit. It's also close to Fouriesburg and Clarens, so it's easy to pop into town for a bit and visit all the antique, arts, crafts, and food stores in the area. Yet, you are far enough from the towns that you will have no disturbance from enjoying the pristine mountains environment around the farm.

We hiked up to see the dinosaur footprints which was really special. They have been studied by international paleontologists. The hike is only about 20 mins but there are some tricky places although the path is cleared and easy to follow.

We went to the Retreat to do the Dinosaur walk. The owners were most helpful with information, and the walk really worth doing. Fabulous views, and the dinosaur prints are really impressive.
