Lake Clarens Guest House

Bed and breakfast Guest house Serviced accommodation

😠 Although we had a good breakfast I will not visit it again. We landed in an outside room in the garden that was definitely not 4 star as advertised. There were dead insects in the room and on the bed. People often mention staff, stay, breakfast, lovely, friendly, house, Lake, garden, amazing, comfortable,

I booked for the lake clarens guest house for the long weekend. Claudia the new owner, the rudest person says that we had no booking made, although she received full payment from us. What utter rudeness, not even willing to assist in any way

2009 Booked and had a lovely time! Breakfast was served outside our room next to this lovely English garden. Close enough to walk into town but with a lovely view of a dam and mountains.

Stunning, clean, large guest house, with books on South African history and the history of the area and the family who owned this house, fascinating.

My Partner and I enjoyed the getaway from beginning to end, On arrival we were greeted by friendly staff who looked after us with their helpful and great service during our stay. The old worldliness of the Guest House with it's rich history is centrally located in Clarence slightly away the hussle and bustle of the square,From the Cottage style gardens you have a wonderful view of the lake and mountains (P.S. Great spots to have some Sun Downers! There's a Restaurant just a rock throw away which make amongst other tasty meals Amazing wood stove oven Pizzas! Their breakfasts offer a nice selection to choose from. Thank you Lake Clarence Guest House for an Amazing experience! Looking forward to booking in by you in the future!

Such an amazing experience. Host accommodated us in the main house. Beautiful and aged home with personal memorabilia throughout. Staff are amazing from check in to breakfast and valet. Definitely worth the visit. I I’ll definitely come back soon.

We had such a lovely stay! The accomodation was very spacious and comfortable. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating and made for a very pleasant stay. We felt so warm and cozy with all the heating essentials for comfortable bath and bed time. Will definitely stay again.

We had a lovely stay thank you. The house is quaint and well suited to the environment. The breakfast was delicious. We just thought that it needed some upkeep and maintenance. The front door didn’t lock from the outside and didn’t bolt into the floor. The lounge area was not very comfortable and inviting. The main bedroom looked out into an area with old chairs and a generator. We did however enjoy your stay.

No reception as we were met by the cook with little information. The self catering unit reeked of damp and mould, the oven was falling apart, the linen and towels are old. The garden and interior of the building was unkept and needed maintenance. Due to a shower problem we were moved from the mouldy self catering unit to a non-self-catering bedroom and were told we could move back the next day. No prior communication about this, no attempt to help with food stuffs brought with for self catering, no mention about reimbursement for day of inconvenience lugging baggage back and forth. We called the manager who was rude and unwelcoming. Due to poor service and the state of the place we decided to stay elsewhere. Manager would not reimburse our deposit for inconvenience caused. Overall horrible experience. Not recommended. Photos on web are misleading.

Great place to stay, Stunning setting, We we’re traveling with our two dogs and the owners were very accomadating. They gave us the cottage on the side which had its own separate entrance and private garden.

The rooms as amazing as the Beds are super comfortable. Food is a bit expensive as a breakfast with 2 eggs, 2 slices of bacon, some toast and some chips with some coffee cost R108. But that could just be me being cheap. Anyway, I give it 3 out of 5.

What a wonderful place - especially if you want to get away from city life with all your dogs in tow. We enjoyed everything! From the lovely breakfast right through to the staff laughing with us and giving our dogs some love. The view is beautiful, the bed is comfy, the heaters are fantastic, the food is great, the people are wonderful. You will not regret staying at Lake Clarens Guesthouse.

My husband and I had the opportunity to share our vows at Lake Clarens Guest House (Elope wedding). The friendly and helpful staff assisted us with everything from the marriage officiant, decor, finding a photographer, recommendations for hair and mua to getting dressed. They went above and beyond to ensure our day was memorable and the way we wanted it. The food was exceptional👌 and we would, without a doubt, recommend them for an intimate wedding. Thank you Lake Clarens Guest House

We went on a business trip at the end of July 2023. The room was spacious and spotless, with a comfortable desk to sit at and work on my laptop. The staff were attentive and went out of their way to ensure that we were comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble. Thank you for making us feel so welcome.

When our booked accommodation let us down view-wise, Lake Clarens Guesthouse accommodated us in their lovely garden - at no cost! - for sundowners with a terrific view of the mountains and surrounding forest! Thank you so much for the hospitality.

Beautiful exterior and garden with friendly staff. The interior of the cottage however is dated and smelly with old linen and curtains and a very old stained smelly carpet. Fleas in the sitting area’s make shift couch. I would happily pay slightly more and have those things sorted out.
