Don't hesitate to make a free visit to the Museum of Beaux Arts. You won't be disappointed!

Very nice palace, fine arts museum intriguing, can't compare to major cities but still amazing collection, especially since it's free entry. Must see when visiting Dijon. However, avoid eating at the restaurants facility the palace. True blood suckers. 90% of those found sitting at the tables are sipping wine VERY SLOWLY, spending the night watching the colourful palace lights but NOT eating a proper meal. Unlike me, who made the mistake not ordering a full 3 course meal of very poor quality and very very high prices. Avoid at all cost. Sip your wine and enjoy the vista.

This is a well presented and preserved palace in Dijon. Architecturally, it is grand with a mixture of French Baroque and gothic style. Most of the palace is visible in amongst the other buildings in this city especially the tower of Philippe le Bon and Tour de Bar. It's free for the public to explore except there's a cost to climb the tower of Philippe the Good. Both the Hôtel de Ville and the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Dijon are housed in this palace so you have a great experience exploring this momentous palace.

Palace turned into a museum. There were a lot of amazing pieces of artwork and artifacts. The tombs were especially beguiling in their intricacies and detailing. I am continually awed by the workmanship and craftsmanship. I can barely write cursive anymore and couldn’t imagine wielding a carving tool to chisel out lace and filigree. I will stick to tapping on a keyboard and come back here to see the mastery of yesterday’s.

The beaux arts museum is a must in Dijon. Beautifully laid out with strong collections of medieval and 17th to 18th century art. Pictures show a remarkable statue by Bouchard.

The Ducal Palace of Dijon, is the ancient residence of the Dukes of Burgundy, until 1477, then of the Governors of Burgundy. From 1679 it became the seat of the General States of Burgundy until the French Revolution. Since 1809 it has been the seat of the Town Hall and the Museum of Fine Arts. It is in a beautiful location to visit.

If you are interested in the Dukes of Burgundy, this is the place for you, particularly for the Middle Ages. The lay out can be confusing but the staff is helpful and will get you back on track. Also, it is free!

So fun to run around with a toddler! Our toddler loved playing with the water jets in front of the palace. I loved how kid-friendly it was! And the place is obviously gorgeous.

We enjoyed this long awaited visit, however, the layout was confusing and explanations were not always helpful. It seems it is a municipal building, an art museum and remnants of the original Palais des ducs?

Mostly an art gallery. Free on Wednesday. Great for pics. Grab a drink outside in the square.

Beautiful plaza with palace that houses both the fine art and history museum. It is free for visitors and the art museum was quite an impressive collection. Certainly worth this visit for any art or history fan.

If you look at my photo's here you can see we visited in the middle of a riot. Unfortunately we did not realise tear gas was being used by the police but I am able now to confirm that it is painful to the eyes and to inhale it even worse. Best to avoid tear gas whenever possible!
