(Translated by Google) Find !!! Check out this free museum. Hidden at the back of the old cathedral cloister. On 3 floors and in a sumptuous decor of columns. Worth the detour. (Original) Trouvaille !!! Allez voir ce musée gratuit. Cache au fond de l’ancien cloître de la cathédrale. Sur 3 étages et dans un décor somptueux de colonnes. Vaut le détour.

Many will probably say that there are few exhibits here. I like every museum, if there is at least one exhibit deserving attention. Then the museum has already fulfilled its function. This is my personal opinion. And in this museum there are many worthy exhibits and the building itself, especially zero level with a large hall, is amazing. So I recommend it 100%.

Free. Open from 10am to 17:30 but closing for lunch at 12:30 and reopening at 14:00 so plan your visit well! Welcome staff is nice and helpful. Staff monitoring the rooms in each floor is overbearing (they followed me closely as i moved through the various rooms, making the whole experience rather uncomfortable). Exhibits include a variety of local and international statues, pottery and metal works from prehistory, ancient Gaul, Roman Gaul and medieval ages. The architecture of the 2nd floor and the basement is just amazing (former abbey from year 1000). Recommended despite the escorting around. All signage in French but can be understood due to context.

(Translated by Google) Very nice and interesting museum on archeology in Dijon and surroundings. Interesting building in itself (part of the old abbey). Beautiful and rare sculptures in wood or stone; bronzes; the basement is super interesting as is the great room with its arches. It's free and right next to the cathedral (Original) Très joli musée intéressant sur l'archéologie à Dijon et alentours.

A truly awesome museum, with an extremely well planned layout starting from the earliest traces of civilization to Dukes of Burgundy era. The focus is on the Burgundy region of France, which makes it easier to concentrate on this one area. And it is free - you just need to tell the person at the reception where you are from. Absolutely well worth the visit. Expect to spend at least a couple of hours here.

we really enjoyed this museum! It’s impressive to see what they found ! Most things are not translated tho so if you don’t read Greek you can’t understand and you just have to guess what you are looking at … The archaeological site is amazing and the staff is great and really welcoming! thank you !

What a pity, we came here all the way to visit this museum and it was closed due to bad weather the previous day, although it had not been damaged. The staff ha nothing do do, just told us it was closed.

Since visiting The Well Of Moses, very nearby, I became obsessed with Mister Sluter. This Museum has fragments that may or may not have been part of the former Well. A puzzle not yet resolved. Anyway, those fragments alone are worth the trip to this museum. Faites vos yeux!

Worth a visit! It’s a free museum tucked away at the back of the cathedral gardens. Has some nice Gaelo-Roman historical items

Unique museum making excellent use of its position in the Abbey. Entrance is hard to find (it is hidden to the right at the back of the garden by the cathedral) so it will look closed but is actually open. The roman remains all focus on local burials (showing gallic clothing and local trade) and the worship of the local river goddess. We spent longer here than intended as we have not seen this sort of votive worship/funeral stelae anywhere else. Free entry

Awesome, could have spent much more time here. Allow at least 90 minutes.

A bit empty of exhibits but the vaults are worth seeing more than the artifacts. Skip the museum and head straight into the vaults. 5 min. Done. Free entrance.

There is a small collection of prehistoric and pre-Roman artifacts, including a nicely preserved set of gold jewelry, and a larger grouping of Roman artifacts related to daily life and to worship at the source of the Seine River, mostly votive offerings. The latter part of the collection is in the former abbey scriptorium in the basement, and is atmospherically dank due to the high water table. You can see some bits of masonry and sculpture collected from various churches in the region as well. The signage is good, but all in French.

Free entrance, friendly staff and very helpful. Well organized, despite not much in it. Friendly for families with babies, a pushchair in each floor for the visitors to use if they needed.

Great museum, located next to the cathedral, a few minutes away from the old town. Free exhibition/entrance on three different floors. Nicely set, quaint spot for a throwback into the past/history of Burgundy. A must when visiting Dijon. No English translation though
