Fun afternoon to see period costumes and the everyday life of a resident It would have been more enjoyable with air conditioning. This is great for kids to learn how life was back then. Some of, most of, the mannequins are a little scary but it works.

Very Nice place to see how the old times were in France. But a little bit difficult to find the Way around in the museum. Free entrance.

An interesting museum about the life in Burgundy. The ground floor features different traditional clothing styles, working tools, and cooking utensils. The upstairs exhibit shows several old-style shops (pharmacy, hat maker, clock maker, barber, etc), which give a interesting impression of that Era. Most descriptions are only in French. Worth a visit! Entry is free!

This is a lovely museum crammed with artefacts and well crafted exhibits. It is all written in French but if this is not your language it can still be enjoyed if not full understood. Very welcoming and friendly staff too. Lockers for your bags. Oh and it’s all free! Pay a little visit, it will enrich your day!

Well worth a visit if you are interested in every day life of (mainly) 19th century Burgundy. Highlights are the very life like tableaux on the ground floor and a large number of reconstructed shops on the first floor.

Great museum of everyday life in Dijon. The displays cover everything from the procedures of making butter to wartime stories and some works by local artists. A lot of the information is in French and the downstairs captions are beautifully written by hand, though this may prove challenging to read. I would have loved to have seen some of the information accessible in different formats, such as video or audio. It’s a good stop if you have a bit more than an hour - it is also for free.

Excellent museum in Dijon. You need around 1h to quickly see all the exhibits. The exhibits are really beautiful and the highlight is the re-enactment of old stores of the city with authentic design and materials We were disappointed by the lack of English descriptions for the exhibits. We visited over a weekday and it was not so crowded. Short walk from the city center.

Very interesting experience. Loved the recreation of various shops etc from the past. Very unusual and creative displays. Highly recommend.

A quirky and eclectic collection of art, artefacts, and re-creations of life in Burgundy throughout the centuries. Some of the displays are hard to follow if you don't read French, but the staff seemed more than happy to explain. My personal highlights were the replica shops and businesses, which have clearly had a lot of love put into them. The mannequin room was genuinely terrifying though

Lots of interesting stuff and some creative display techniques. Your French needs to be good though...

Super interesting museum with really cool displays. Everything is in French but it is still easy to get the gist as a non french speaker. Definitely worth visiting.

Very nice museum with rich collection and… free of charge. If you are interesed in regional history and ethnography, this is the place to go. Descriptions are not in English but it is very easy to follow. Thank you for the opportunity to explore history and culture of Dijon🇫🇷

The ground floor has a bunch of very odd dolls and mannequins. If you can get past that part and make it up the stairs, then the museum changes drastically with fake store fronts and small exhibits that are genuinely interesting. The text is all in French and is written in cursive. I found that I could reliably translate many of the panels into English with the Google translate app.

Another free miseum that dijon offers to the public. It's lovely made, with lots of details and effort. Bit i felt it's more for the locals. Everything is on french, still interessting to look but not to really unterstand. In the second floor is a childern area.

It seems like an interesting museum but there weren't any English captions or alternative guides so it's only accessible if you speak French. I gave five stars anyway because it seemed well laid out with a wide variety of interesting things, I just couldn't get the full experience, but I can't really complain about a museum about French history in France being in French, and it was free entry.

It might be interesting but only for frenchspeakers. For different language i think that it is not worthy

Interesting exhibits, but the downstairs section is a bit difficult to follow. Signs are very difficult to read as they are written on the glass in cursive handwriting. It's a bit strange. (Not a factor in my rating, but there is very little English, so it may be difficult if you don't read French.). The best part is the upstairs exhibits with old mustard pots and little faux store fronts. Great that is free though!

A very nice ethnographic museum. And free! It shows the day-to-day life of Burgundian people in 18-19 century. The exposition is organized by several aspects : wedding, home chores, cooking, sewing. On the upper floor, there are installations of town shops: pharmacy, fashion stores, grocery. The visit hardly takes 1-1,5 hours. Don't forget to ask the museum keeper to accompany you to the Museum of Sacred Art just in front. It's also free.
