    1. We arrived late after a drive from Geneva, and we’re checked in. No help was offered even though we were visibly tired and had heavy luggage. There was a lift but our rooms were one flight of stairs up from the floor where the lift stopped. 2. The lighting from the lift to the room had to be manually switched on. We had expected a motion detector. 3. In the room, the wifi was slow. Speedtest.net showed 0.8Mbps download and 0.02Mbps upload. For messaging, it was ok, but any pics on social media would take ages. Videos would not load. 4. The room was large, but it had seen better days. The light switch in my room did not work and to switch on the room light, one has to go to the bedside, across the dark room to switch it on. Looks very nice in pictures, but outdated, and the furnishings are old and tired. 5. The shower was either hot or cold. A good blend could not be achieved, and constant minute adjustments were needed not to get scalded and frozen. 6 We arrived back on the second evening of our stay at 8:45, but was told by the front counter staff that the restaurant kitchen closed at 8:30. And as this was the country side, there were no other places to eat. We requested for something to be cooked, like a pasta or omelette, but could only be offered some cheese and cold meats. We agreed as we did not have a choice. But after 25m waiting, it did not arrive. We had to chase the bar tender twice and finally she got the food delivered after 40m. 7. This was a disappointing experience.

Very relaxing. Upscale restaurant and an extensive breakfast of hot and delicious selection.

This was an absolutely fantastic stay. We were told it is about to shut down in the end of 23 for a while to renovate. Awesome history behind it, scenic, and great location for Beaune or Dijon and surrounding Burgundy region. It is truly a medieval castle and it felt like living in history. Our kids played in the moat. We walked the gardens and grounds. We ate at the restaurant and had a gastro treat there. Oleg, our server, was incredibly helpful. Our room was the abbey suite that had a private entrance over the moat. We felt like royalty. There is no ac so if you are on the upper floors in warm weather (like our original room before we switched to the abbey suite) be aware it can be warm.

It’s a beautiful hotel, although facilities are a little bit old. Staffs are kinds, we stayed for 2 nights and had 2 dinners, which were good. Director even came to say good by to us when we check out. He mentioned they will have a renovation soon!

Great location in the heart of the Côte d'Or. Easy access to all the great Chateaux and within easy distance of Beaune. However, rooms have no AC and with temperatures soaring above 35 C, nights were a bit uncomfortable. Good restaurant/bar for evening entertainment and nice casual terrace for day snacks, drinks...Pool was 100m+ from house so there was no service/attendants by the pool, which is a shame. The place is also geared for large functions so they need to have an elastic workforce, meaning that when there are no events, they operate with a skeleton staff. I understand that there will be en extensive refurbishment programme starting this Christmas for 18 months. If they get it right, it should become an amazing destination.

Excellent chateau, with beautiful grounds and the old charm. Needs a bit of updating which is being planned for later this year. Restaurant experience wasn't quite what we would expect in France. Quality of food was mediocre. Staff service was excellent, including the personal touch from the GM Max. Looking forward to revisiting after it's makover, sometimne in 2025 I hope.

We have a great room with a nice view but the wallpaper could be refreshed, as it had stains of dirt. Room should look top, for a 5 star hotel. The restaurant was booked for a private event so we had not experienced it.

In the heart of Burgundy lies this wee gem. Photos do not do it justice. Lovely tapas on the terrace and plenty of wine drank, while listening to the birds sing. Could spend many an hour exploring the gardens and surrounding village. We hope to return one day!

Enchanting hotel with beautiful surroundings. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable, and super silent. The service is great. Having a drink or a small aperitif in the main entrance next to the garden is a must. The food if the restaurant is quite good even though the selection is scarce, they only have fine dining dishes abs super limited vegetarian options. Nonetheless it’s definitely a place that I would come back to.

Beautiful location, big comfortable bedrooms, great quality food, friendly staff, especially at breakfast. Good price quality relation. It's a little outdated, but charming, a renovation would probably be reflected in the room rate. The only thing maybe missing in the bedrooms are full length mirrors. Otherwise, really a great stay. Recommending it and will certainly return.

Housekeepers left 2 windows open in our room where our luggage was sitting so my husband and my suitcases were completely drenched. Everything had to be taken out and dried, even down to unzipping the suitcase liners. Front desk offered no help— I had to request towels, another hand dryer, etc. I was told I could go to the housekeeping department to use the dryers myself, but again they didn’t help, I had to do it myself. After asking for a refund, they finally said they would do a partial refund. Now they will not refund back to my credit card or use wire numbers that work with ANY United States banks. At this point they won’t respond to any emails including a simple, “please respond so we can a way to resolve this.”

The service here is top notch. We arrived late and wanted dinner - we called and they emailed us a room service menu to ensure our order would be completed before the kitchen closed. Upon entering the lobby, our food was steaming inside glass containers waiting for us - and of course they graciously allowed us to sit wherever we pleased - we chose the bar area. The staff is incredibly gracious and professional. We also came with our dog, and they couldn’t have made us feel more at home with him.I highly, highly recommend it here.

One of the nicest ways to enjoy Burgundy, combining gastronomy, wine and the unique local nature in an amazing built environment.

We stayed here one night on our way home from Route des Grandes Alpes. Very nice, typical setting in a castle. All is very old but that is part of the charming atmosphere in and around the castle. We booked dinner in advance and found it amazing: setting, food and staff.

rooms are good very clean, nice and perfect bathroom/shower. the service on the terras is very slow. the prices of whiskey and rhum are outrageous. gains of 18 000% (1 glas of 4 cl is the price of 1.8 bottels of 1 litter). do not order a gin/tonic as they still live in the 80’s where gin was mixed with schwepess in a small low cocktail glass. even a bar/tabac knows better. so stay/sleep. do not drink/eat

We stayed for 1 night on our way home. Nice location in castle, yes it is old - but this is the charm. We booked dinner upfront and was fantastic!

New Yorker here reviewing both the hotel and the restaurant. We were thrilled to find the Chateau de Gilly. We wanted to stay in a true French Chateau, and this absolutely delivered. Beautiful surroundings, and manicured gardens, rooms are very spacious and classically decorated. No air conditioning, but it wasn't a problem as the stone keeps the building naturally cool and fans were provided in rooms. Cozy cocktail lounge, and incredible architecture. The restaurant in the arched dining room (former Monk's wine storage) was memorable. 5 course French meal, sommelier very knowledgable, portion sizes appropriate. We left very full and happy.

14th century monestry, now a hotel, rooms clean and tidy, staff very pleasant. Standard rooms are converted from monks cells.

Very nice historical property and the rooms are newly decorated. The room was quite large and everything clean. Their restaurant was popular we couldn’t even reserve a table one week ahead, but they arranged a table at a nearby restaurant which was also pretty nice. It is located close to the world heritage vineyards, in a small village.

My wife and I went to Chateau de Gilly with plenty of expectations. Besides a good breakfast, our experience have shown us that this hotel had better days. It has the appeal of being an historical building, but somethings are missing for such propaganda. For instance, there is a large concern about the dinner at the restaurant. Throughout this time all attentions of the Staff will be directed to that, and we felt that if you aren't at the restaurant you don't deserve the same attention. In the first day we were informed that we may have room service for dinner (even a Menu was offered for this in our arrival). In the first night we tried to order this room service and even though 1h30 before had being offered to us, it was denied because "the kitchen was working with all is capacity for the dinner in the restaurant". So why do you even offer such service?. Moreover, the room is really broad, but the bed was two single beds combined, so sleeping in couple is terrible due to this hole in the middle of bed. In the last two days, they were receiving an event of what I think it was a "nice cars event from Paris". The staff was overwhelmed by the amount of people from this company and did not pay the minimal required attention to the other guests. The air conditioner was not working so they let a fan for us in a very hot season. Also, we tried to open a bottle of a nice wine we bought in one of our tours, and we were told that we should pay an extra fee for drinking wine that was not from the chateau's cellar, and the fee was different depending on the wine's appelation origin. Simply absurd. Overall, it was a trully dissapointing experience. I suggest for others staying maybe in a small chateau or others BnBs to have a more authentic, respectful and personal experience of burgundy.

We spent one night at the hotel. It is a hotel in a place with a lot of history. The rooms are fine, the bathrooms have some details that could be improved due to the type of hotel it is. The restaurant is on a lower floor so it is not possible to enjoy the view of the hotel's beautiful garden. The food good. We had a long delay until they took our order. Friendly, friendly waiters and receptionists. I think that due to various details, such as breakfast for example (we went to breakfast at 9:45 am and there were no things like croissant in a French hotel, fruit, eggs...) the price-quality is not good.

This is far from a 5 star hotel. First of all the garden needs some love. The room we got was old fashioned BIG TIME. The receptionist are not speaking English and so service minded as you would expect even from a 4 star hotel. Expensive breakfast which is nothing but the ordinary and is not worth the extra 25 euro. Quiet and be aware of the church bells that starts ringing at 07.00 AM every day including weekends. It was probably a nice place 50 years ago. But it haven’t aged well. It smells old.
