On
July
23,
2021,
my
84-year-old
father
consulted
with
Dr.
de
Jager
at
Spectrum
Louiza,
as
his
regular
GP,
Dr.
Donders,
was
on
vacation.
He
had
been
experiencing
increasing
pain
and
swelling
in
his
right
arm.
Dr.
de
Jager
prescribed
a
pain
reliever
without
requesting
an
upper
body
examination
from
my
father.
According
to
my
father,
Dr.
de
Jager
acknowledged
the
swelling
verbally
but
did
not
conduct
a
thorough
examination.
Worried
and
frustrated,
I
decided
to
take
my
father
to
the
emergency
room
on
July
24,
2021.
A
scan
revealed
that
his
right
arm
was,
in
fact,
broken
due
to
stage
4
cancer
metastasizing
to
the
bone.
In
my
opinion,
Dr.
de
Jager
made
a
significant
medical
error
by
not
conducting
a
proper
examination
and
sending
an
84-year-old
patient
home
with
a
broken
arm.
Fortunately,
I
was
able
to
take
action
to
address
the
situation.
Dr.
de
Jager
is
still
practicing
at
this
medical
center.

I
originally
posted
a
review
a
few
months
after
my
father's
passing,
but
it
got
flagged
and
unpublished
by
Google.
I
recently
realised
this,
so
I'm
reposting
my
concerns
now.
The
fact
that
my
father
didn't
have
an
appointment
or
came
alone
isn't
the
real
issue
here.
What's
crucial
is
that
my
father
had
been
struggling
with
his
arm
for
several
months,
and
it
was
only
getting
worse.
Instead
of
addressing
the
situation
decisively
and
promptly,
he
was
sent
home
with
a
basic
painkiller.
Given
the
severity
of
the
actual
diagnosis
(a
broken
arm
due
to
a
stage
4
cancer
metastasising
to
the
bone),
it's
clear
to
me
that
a
medical
error
occurred.
As
for
your
proposal
to
meet
privately
at
your
office
to
discuss
the
incident,
I
find
it
concerning.
Typically,
mediation
happens
in
a
neutral
environment
with
a
mediator
present
as
a
witness.
Private
meetings
between
individuals
involved
in
a
medical
dispute,
especially
when
one
party
may
be
seen
as
the
victim,
raise
ethical
concerns.
