Superb UNESCO heritage site. Entrance fee 2.50€ per person. Quiet in winter period but sunny day so we were in T-shirts which is unusual for us in end January. Did the archeological trail that surrounds the site too. Easy and pleasant walk. Almost missed the explanation panels hidden in the inner walls of the half circular building formations. Not to be missed if you are traveling between Paphos or Limassol and Larnaca.

A fascinating neolithic site, for those interested in the subject. It is a fair few steps up, but manageable enough (unless you have accessibility issues).

Interesting, ancient site with a pleasant archeological hike-path. Not an expensive entry ticket as well. Good stuff.

This was the first Neolithic village we have visited and it was very different to the other archaeological sites. It has great displays explaining the life and times, culture and timelines of the people. They have reconstructed the houses to show you what life was like and how small the houses were. It was a great afternoon and really fascinating. We also visited the bakery near the site and had the best orange cake ever!

Definitely worth a visit, lots of steps to the excavation site but they have made a simulation at ground level. Interesting bit of history there

It is not the place where you will see a lot of well preserved ruins, but the restoration of authentic houses is very good. It is interesting from the historical part, because here you will find a lot of informative information desks which helps to understand the way of life of people who lived there thousands of years ago. It is a really good feeling to walk around and to imagine how many years ago there already were people living, having a community and living together.

Brilliant. These huts in the photo are recreations of the original structures. There is excellent information about how they were built, how the people lived. The site was expanded and inhabited for approx 1, 000 years .Neolithic living, was hard work.

It's only a small archeological site, but the documentation with information boards is very good. Historic houses have been reconstructed using the techniques of the time. Parking and toilets are free and in good condition.

Small settlement from neolithic period. Till today only few rocks survived. Outline of the buildings are visible but unfortunately it tells nothing to regular tourists. I think archeologists can find this place attractive and other people who passionate this subject.

Very impressive. Built in the neolithic, listed on UNESCO and made with respect for both the tourists and the place. The real houses are well protected from being walked on, but you can admire reconstructed settlement from up close. It was very enjoyable for me.

A well preserved Neolithic Archeological Site, next to the big Nicosia- Limassol Highway. Beautiful scenery especially in spring. It is a very important historic monument which is enlisted and protected by UNESCO. A trip that both individuals and families will enjoy. The price is €2,50 pp.

It's incredible how large and organized is the village considering the time when it was built. However, it looks more like a stronghold of some sort than a village.

This place it was on my wishlist for years and today I decided to make the trip there and I'm wasn't at all disappointed. The site it has the original hut houses on the top of the hill and a small site at the bottom of the hill with reconstructed for visitors to see how were originally and how people lived back 100.000 years ago. The Neolithic village is a UNESCO site and after walking around it I could see why. I have taken the route up to the hill and I could see clearly the settlement how it was years ago, but there are also a lot of details to read so you get to understand the findings. I have walked the whole route and walking through the nature path could see where the Maroni river was passing and why it was important to build the village there in the first place. Also walking the nature path you get to see all the beauty of Spring with wild flowers everywhere. Most of the finds from the settlement are in the Larnaca Archaeological museum which I have visited a few hours before I made my way to Choirokitia which by combining the 2 together I could visually see how they lived and survived by. The entrance fee is 2.50 euros which it wasn't bad for spending nearly two hours walking on the site. There are toilet facilities which there were clean but not a cafe. The site is open from 8.30 to 17.00 in the Winter months and from 8.30 to 19.00 in the Summer. There is not wheelchair access to the site, but they can just visit the reconstructed huts. Also the Department of Antiquities can issue special entry cards for 1, 3 or 7 days at a reduced price and also a pensioners special entry card. For more information you can visit www.mcw.gov.cy/da

Fascinating ancient site, very well maintained and lots of information boards. The idea of having a reconstruction on site is, I think, brilliant. It gives a real sense of how those people lived so long ago. Just beware, it is quite a climb from the car park level to the excavation site, but well worth it. Thankfully there is a 'rest area' part way up, a stone bench in the shade of an old tree, very welcome.

A historic village dating back some 8,000BC This place is one of the first known civilisations known to man. You can feel the history just by being here. Amazing views, lovely to experience, well worth a visit and in my opinion a bucket list option

The settlement is great. How can you say anything less about significant historical sites. However, if you're not a history lover or is able to climb a small hill, I would say it's probably not worth driving over just for this site. It was conveniently located at the side of a high way, free parking, and very quiet. Had the place to myself for my visit.

Interesting, place. However as you can imagine so warm in the summer. Pack water and some shade. The place was empty alas most tourists do not visit these places.

One of the most intact Neolithic sites I've been to. The reconstruction is fantastic. Guides and signs are provided in Greek, English and French with other languages available on request in the entry kiosk.

It's fine to go over it and enjoy views on hills/mountains. But the place itself has almost zero interest

Amazing to see a UNESCO place with a Neolithic settlement here in Cyprus. And all for just 2,50€

  • 4/5 Paul B. 2 years ago on Google
Very interesting Neolithic whose population suddenly disappeared. There are some reconstructed homes to give a better sense of what the village originally looked like.

Fascinating reconstruction of a Neolithic village some 9.000 years old . Easy to reach from the A1 motorway.Good parking, cafe close by. Good signboards in several languages, worth climbing up beside the ruins and walking round behind the hill.Intetesting flowers, birds and big lizards Do wear a hat and take water as it can get very hot.

Located very close to the motorway. I would definitely recommend stopping and visiting the site if you drive by. For 2.50€ you will gain insight about the village and learn about the neolithic period on Cyprus in general. It can take up to one hour to carefully read the info boards and visit the whole site. It can get really hot and there is almost no shade. I have to point out that the reconstructions were done using ancient and accurate techniques.

Very interesting to learn about this old civilizations. Bring water on a hot day, it is quite a climb out in the open. If you decide to visit several Archeological sites on Cyprus in one day ask for a combi ticket, with 3+ locations it is worth the money!

Very interesting neolithic settlement. I was impressed by the extent of the site and the organisation of the community living there, which was extremely advanced for that age. The site is still under excavation/restoration

Nice tables explaining the story of the village but authors were a little bit obsessed with word "wall" . There is a lot of information about wall but only dew about people.

Chill and nice small park. Not much to see but there is short trail to walk around for half an hour and unwind.

This is a very large Neolithic settlement that was abandoned and then returned to hundreds of years later There is also a reconstruction near the entrance to show how the village would have been A very nice trail from the back of the village at the top back to the entrance
