Dochula Pass is a stunning mountain pass in Bhutan, situated at 3,100 meters between Thimphu and Punakha. It offers breathtaking views of the Himalayas, including the majestic Gangkar Puensum peak. The pass is decorated with 108 chortens (stupas) honoring fallen soldiers, adding to its serene and spiritual atmosphere. Whether you visit during the spring with blooming rhododendrons or in winter when the landscape is covered in snow, Dochula Pass promises a memorable experience with its panoramic vistas, fluttering prayer flags, and peaceful ambiance. A must-visit for anyone exploring Bhutan!

The most scenic & spiritually significant pass is located along the Thimphu-Punakha highway. Its 108 stupas are great subjects of photography. When the weather is fine, the snowcapped mountains in distance will make your photographs even better. In December, there is a one-day Druk Wangyel Tshechu where bravery of Bhutanese soldiers are celebrated through various unique masked dances. The 60th Anniversary Park (above the pass) is also full of meditation caves, well-maintained walking trails, and scenic spots. If you want to grab something to eat or experience having coffee among the floating fluffy mountain clouds, Druk Wangyel Cafe is just next to it.

DOCHULA PASS: En-Route to Punakha : 05 April 2023 Today was simply magnificent at Dochula - an overlook of the Bhutanese Himalayas set against an incredible azure sky and clear, refreshing air at 3050m. Here I stand in the embrace of Mother Nature and express my utmost gratitude for the abundant blessings in my life. I feel blessed to witness such a special moment of joy and peace and wish that all sentient beings around the world be bestowed with well-being and prosperity.

Dochu La is one of the most iconic place or Pass here in Bhutan. It is situated above 3000 meter. Not only the chortens are beautiful but also the mountain views from the Dochu La are breathtaking.

One of the best views I had in Bhutan. You can see the mighty Tiger range standing right in front of you. Its too much windy and cold because of the cold wind coming directly from the mountain range. You must spend atleast 30 mins to take in the beauty of the scene. Must stop on the way to Punakha.

Best time to visit here September to 1st week of December at tine one can clearly see snow over the peak of Himalayan mountains. The temperature during 10-12 in the morning during month of Dec will be around 2Β° to -1Β°. So always come with proper winter garments. This can be life long experience as it was mine. Mesmerizing beauty of the nature will amaze you. A must visit place as it worth your entire trip

Dochula Pass on the road from Thimbu to Punakha is a location with unhindered vistas of Himalaya. The impressive 108 stupas or chorten built by King's Mother attrack the attention and admiration of visitors. These were built as a memorial in honour of the Bhutanese soldiers who were killed in the December 2003 battle against Assamese insurgents from India. All around is a Rhododendron Forest which during blossom paints the nature with red and rose colors.

While going Punakha the old capital of Druk State,Bhutan, it is 3000 meter high from present capital Thimphu. The nature the serenity, the vibe of the monastery and the aura of calmness make the place worthy of not only to visit but also to wonder how to breath afresh from all odds. The glimpse of Himalayan mountains makes extra bonus to the tourists. Really awesome and overwhelming beautiful place. If anybody visits Bhutan dont miss the majestic Dochula Pass. It will gratify your β™₯.

Dochula is a place where 108 chorten lies. It's a nice place on top of mountain with a fresh air and sometimes a chilly cold wind blows. Visit it if u don't mind specially for foreigners ☺️.
