The National Museum is truly a stunning and unusual building. The roof design is something I've never seen before. The day I visited there was an exhibition and it was completely free. Inside the security is tightened. Many workers were there in case you needed help or explanation for any screen and security everywhere. The interior is really beautiful. Be sure to wear flat comfortable shoes because walking to the building and the entrance is a bit slow and tedious for me in high heels because the time I visit it is a bit gravel outside.

Am highly impressed with National Museum of Qatar. The staff are very receptive and helpful. The Museum itself is breathtaking with excellent awe-inspiring art, relics, presentations and visuals of Qatari history. What strikes me is the resilience of the Qatari nation, with a rich culture spanning the most beautiful fashion, and art. I highly recommend a visit here together with the family. There's also the Desert Rose restaurant where you can relax after giving your feet a good work out.

This is a must visit museum to understand the history and development of Qatar. Tourism must pay for the entrance, however, was very surprised to see that residents are free to enter. It would take you up to two hours to walk around galleries, but it's worth it.

My friend and I just had a full day to explore Doha and we're glad we didn't give the National museum a pass! It's a great way to learn about the rich history of Qatar. The exhibits are great and flowed nicely owing to the great architecture of the building. The building in itself was a work of great architecture. It was even prettier in the evenings when the lights casts these gorgeous shadows on the building. One can spend a few hours here and be thoroughly immersed in learning the culture and the history of the country. The queue to get tickets goes quickly, hardly any wait. The staff are friendly and accommodating. There is even a golf cart to take guests to and from the parking area, not to mention a Metro station is conveniently located near the museum itself. Highly recommend to give this place a visit!

People's Museum Designed by the famous French architect Jean Nouvel, the museum is an exciting addition to the Doha skyline, with its curved discs, intersections, and protrusive corners, inspired by the shape of the local desert rose. This unique building houses the newly restored palace of Sheikh Abdullah bin Jassim Al Thani, which in itself is the heart of the Qatari national identity. Open to everyone, the museum provides visitors with a wide range of ways to participate, whether for learning or relaxation. It features a meeting room with 220 seats, and a revolving program of events so that each visit offers a new perspective. For students and researchers, the Research Center and Specialized Laboratories will provide new study opportunities. For those looking to relax and take a walk, there will be new places to eat, including a stunning rooftop restaurant, and a modern landscaped garden that provides an interactive, family-friendly learning environment, as well as celebrating indigenous Qatari flora.

This is a fantastic museum. You can easily learn so much about Qatar's history and people. 2 adults one day entry is 100 r (circa 25 pounds), great value. Lovely cafe too where we were served by a robot! Spectacular buildings.

As an architect and a museum lover I loved everything about this museum. The architecture was mind blowing. They way they were able to achieve the structure of a desert rose is so inspiring. Also they were able to tell the story of Qatar through out history very well. Definitely should visit if you're a tourist or a resident.

The museum was truly a delight to visit. From the moment I stepped inside, I was immediately captivated by the stunning displays and impressive collection. The exhibits were carefully curated, showcasing a wide range of historical artifacts and artwork. The staff members were knowledgeable and passionate, eagerly sharing interesting facts and stories about the exhibits. The layout of the museum was well-designed, allowing for a seamless flow from one exhibit to another. A visit that worth it, even though the museum is partially closed as they are working on it to be ready for the World Cup. The architecture and open spaces are really amazing. The exposition is well presented and it takes you through the different episodes of Qatari history. Also worth it the gift shop (not expensive).

This museum is a must if you are in Doha. It is very well planned to bring knowledge and a fun experience to everyone visiting. All the exhibitions include videos, a lot of material to read, and some parts are interactive. The whole museum uses projectors to explain the pieces and how things have changed in Qatar. It's interesting to know that the videos are mostly in B&W, but the objects that appear in color are the ones they have in the museum. The museum offers free English and Arabic tours, try to get to that tour. The guides are excellent

This is one of the must visit places if you are in Doha. Tickets are not expensive and you can buy it at the entrance. We visited the museum on Saturday and it wasn't very crowded. We got acquainted with the history of Qatar, the old pearl business, traditions of people, old market places, and so on. It was very interesting and my children loved it. When you visit and see how people used to live their lives in ancient times, you understand how far humanity reached nowadays... Just amazing and inspiring museum. Much recommended.

Super cool museum that is probably one of the most memorable and unique buildings in all of Qatar! The museum tells the story of how Qatar came to be from its ancient history to the recent history with the economy of pearl gathering to the oil boom. Would take about 3-4 hours to see everything and also the house outside is pretty cool too!!

I went there several times. It was totally free entry. The Museum outlook is incredible but for the inside view I can not give 5 star. A Museum should have many historical things but showing in monitor about their history as a documentary or a movie isn't present like Museum. Inside the Museum they have Coffee Shop but the price is very high. It should reduce the price.

This city and it's buildings are so awe inspiring. The National Museum appears out of the desert as its architectural inspiration, the desert rose, does. It's meant to look like the rose coloured crystal that gives it its name. While the exhibits inside are very impressive, it's the structure and size of this building that I keep going back to.

Way of living in the olden days... Some of the fossils of animals and insects found in and around Qatar... The development of Qatar infrastructure... The best part is the way hey are projecting on walls of giant shales using no.of projectors... The sound quality is excellent... One can find a lot of information here... Perfect piece of vision and architecture in a modern as well as traditional theme as picturizing the Desert Rose. One of must visit place in Qatar . Perfect place to visit with family and friends. If you are in a Visit visa need to take a paid ticket for QAR 50 for residents it's free to enter. Not a crowded place. Better not to touch any thing exhibited there. The way which everything exhibited here is gorgeous, informative. They have done a wonderful work here by using modern technology to exhibit their traditional culture and history to the modern world. The whole place seems like a puzzle from outside but all over there is information boards and signages. The video shows going on each place inside is really a good experience they have provided cushioned chairs so that we can sit relax and enjoy the show. You can get in through one and see all then exit on the other side seamlessly. The staffs there are really helpful. There are cafeterias and restaurants inside as well as small ones as Kiosk outside . Reaching here by metro is so easy as the station is very nearby. There is also a big parking space available. Outside surrounding the museum there is parks,, sitting areas and a sperate place for kids.

The museum is great, you learn and see a lot about Qatar history. The place it's really incredibly looking and clean. However there are no signs with right direction, no any guidance for whole tour, you will need to rely on the security guys.. in the end I got outside and not in the main lobby where is the shop so I'm not sure if I missed something or not. Please put some guidance signs inside the museum for a better experience!!

One of the most amazing museums I visited, loved Qatar's history and people's interview on the screen. Learned so much about Qatar. Building is a fine art work and architecture was great. Only complaint is signs are not that clear and once you are out by mistake they will not let you back in the museum even you show them the tickets. Should be water dispensers everywhere in the museum so visitors can coop with the hot weather. Toilet signs not that clear. After seeing the signs go towards toilets and signs disappear now try to workout if that door leads to the toilet. Restaurants were ok and can have something to eat and drink while you're here. Shops were a bit expensive though. All in all nice experience

The National Museum of Qatar is was my favorite over all. To start the shape of the building, is something never seen before, very rare structure and very well done. In side the museum the galleries were amazing, technology, history and arts. The animal kingdom gallery was impressive how you were able to see the animal and the walls projecting images of their natural habitat. The Pipilotti Rist gallery was a WOW, all the lights hanging from the ceiling changing colors and the harmony between the music and the dancing light was very peaceful. This Museum is highly recommended in you go to Doha.

An absolutely exceptional museum. This museum is, without a doubt, one of the most impressive museums I’ve ever visited. The architecture is stunning and the interior is beautiful playing with light, sound, and projections. The collection boasts three phases which tell a thorough and interesting story of Qatar. The collection is small enough to not overwhelm the guests with too much information, it’s a perfect dose of history. The exhibition flows very fluidly and the jewellery collection is outstanding!

The National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ) is a cultural institution located in Doha, the capital city of Qatar. It is designed to showcase the rich history and heritage of Qatar, providing visitors with insights into the nation's past, present, and future. The museum is housed in a distinctive building designed by the renowned architect Jean Nouvel. The architecture is inspired by the desert rose, a natural phenomenon formed by the crystallization of minerals in the desert sand. The building's design is unique and reflects Qatar's geography and history. Some of the key highlights of the museum include: Historical Galleries: The museum features a series of galleries that explore Qatar's history, culture, and heritage. Exhibits include artifacts, multimedia displays, and interactive installations. Pearl Carpet of Baroda: One of the museum's prized possessions is the Pearl Carpet of Baroda, a stunning carpet adorned with pearls and gemstones. It is a significant cultural artifact that reflects the historical importance of the pearl trade in the region. Gift Shops and Cafes: The museum has gift shops where visitors can purchase souvenirs related to Qatari culture and heritage. Additionally, there are cafes where visitors can relax and enjoy refreshments.

I did not visit the Museum itself, but walked around the outdoor garden and space the surrounds it. It has grass and a few areas to sit with family and watch the kids run around. Quiet, calm, peaceful. It overlooks a highway and has a below average coffee shop.

This review is not for the actual museum but only just the exterior as the building is one amazing piece of architecture. Jean Nouvel did a great job piecing together this desert rose. Plenty of things to see around the park with exotic plants everywhere. The gift shop and cafe are open and you can visit without paying admission fee to the museum. Think this is the first place I have ever seen a Ralph Lauren Coffee van serving your regular coffee!

Excellent building recreating a desert rose stone. If you want to know a little bit more about Qatar history, that's the place. Some areas of the museum are filled with random stuff and I'm sure they have more to show about their culture. Still quite new building. As an extra, they have a classic cars showroom around the area as well.

(Translated by Google) It is a must see, whether you are walking or living in Doha. The Museum is designed so that you put all your senses to work. The audiovisual work is incredible and the staging of some elements of Arab culture are very well done. The architecture is clearly first class and its inspiration in a desert rose is delirious, if we think about the technical complications of generating that effect especially on the outside. The Museum, in addition to its exhibition rooms, has two souvenir and souvenir shops (a larger one whose interior design deserves a separate paragraph), a clothing store (from a Qatari designer), a cafeteria, a restaurant and there are usually in the internal patio, some food truck style carts but with coffee and patisserie. It has its own parking lot and is just minutes from the most central part of Doha. On March 28, the National Museum of Qatar opened in the capital, Doha. The project was helmed by French architect Jean Nouvel who took inspiration from desert roses when designing the curving structure of the museum, a nod to Qatar’s history. In total, 539 reinforced and interlocking concrete discs make up its sloping walls, spanning over 430 000 square feet. Built around the historic palace of Sheikh Abdullah bin Jassim Al Thani, previously home to the heritage museum, the new museum presents old collections, retracing local culture, among contemporary Qatari and international works. In a push for international recognition, the space sparks dialogue between the history of the country, its rich cultural heritage and its future aspirations.

Great architecture and ambience attracting lots of foreign visitors even from the West. One of the biggest pluses is the presence of kids areas at one corner of every gallery, which keeps the kids entertained and makes coming to the museum a family outing, unlike some other museums. QTA should learn from this success and build more family-friendly attractions like an aquarium, for example, which is sorely missing in Qatar. It'll enhance tourist flow into the country. Some of the negatives include galleries that have not yet been opened and the old palace, which was restored, but contains no exhibits as of this writing. The gift shops and cafes are well thought out, but the souvenirs they sell are costly. Car parking spaces are a little inadequate and the lack of an underground car park is a glaring omission. But the soon to open metro station will enhance accessibility. Free entry tickets for Qatar residents is appreciable.

Best place to spend time and a very spacious artistic museum. The shape of the museum was built as a resemblance of sand crystal called Rose of the Desert. The museum speaks the history of Qatar. Love it 😊.

Very unique architecture of Jean Nouvel, we also visited the Louvre Abu Dhabi, but nothing similar. Don’t miss the gift shop whose design is also stunning. The collection itself is focused on the history, nature and development of the country, which is also interesting, but so far some rooms are still empty and I think it has also potential to be extended. By the way, the surroundings are all under construction, probably as preparation for the World Cup, so better take the free shuttle bus, which also connects MIA and national library, or taxi to get there.

This place is something completely different....the layout and design is lovely. All though we missed out on a large part as a result of renovations, we at least experienced a good part. We had something to eat at the restaurant...that was also nice. It was all round an informative and pleasent experience.

Only 3 stars as half of the museum was closed on our visit. We also went as I saw social media posts about visiting the museum if you like vintage cars. It said there was an exhibition which consisted of 3 cars, so I'm not sure what the hype was for. Well worth a visit just to even walk around the outside as it is an amazing building, love the shape of it. The gift shop is also a must see when there as the ceiling is amazing. Also, it is free to residents 😁

Beautiful and historic, tells a great story of Qatar. But the only thing wrong is there's SO much unused space... Massive rooms that are used jus as a canvas for a projector. But it's beautiful and well worth a visit. Especially for the artists that show their work there.

If you are here enjoying the world cup, you must check this place out! You can learn so much about this region and it's people. Knowledge is power. Beautiful museum for all ages! We spent a great 2 hours here, and it didn’t feel like long enough, there were so many different exhibits to visit, and they have many activities for children including an outdoor boat/hidden treasure area! It’s definitely worth a visit when visiting Doha!

This is definitely one of the best Museums in the world. The design of the building based on the intricate desert rose, is in itself very unique and amazingly captured and translated into an awesome building. Am so grateful to be here, Alhamdulillaah…

Doha, Qatar 🇶🇦 The National Museum of Qatar is an amazing place to visit when you are in Qatar. A contemporary structure mixed with historic details, the beautiful building alone is worth a visit. Inside you’ll find a very interactive display of the history of Qatar and it’ll teach you how the country developed into the thriving country it is now. Also worth to visit with kids, as there are many playful areas for them too.

Amazing place with such unique architecture, a must-visit spot of you are visiting or living in Qatar. Family friendly design, with many indoor playgrounds for the kids that can be spotted as you walkthrough the museum. Glad that I got to know more about the history, culture and people of the country, and enjoyed seeing some classic cars at the separate car museum.

I visited the National Museum of Qatar and I must say, it was a truly incredible experience! The architecture of the building itself is a work of art, with its unique design inspired by the desert rose. Once inside, you're taken on a journey through Qatar's history and culture, with fascinating exhibits that showcase the country's rich heritage. From the prehistoric era to modern day, the museum offers a comprehensive overview of Qatar's past and present. One of my favourite parts was the Pearl Carpet of Baroda exhibit, which is a truly magnificent masterpiece. The museum also has a lovely gift shop and cafe, where you can relax and reflect on everything you've seen. Overall, the National Museum of Qatar is a must-visit for anyone interested in Qatar's culture and history. Highly recommended!

Each gallery provides a unique perspective across time and connects visitors to the experiences of the Qatari people between land and sea. All the senses are engaged through a creative combination of sights, sounds and even evocative aromas. Several of the galleries feature films by distinguished international directors who were commissioned to create living, immersive experiences. Produced by the Doha Film Institute, the films are projected at immense scale and with hypnotic clarity against the curving walls of the galleries, making the physical walls dissolve into moving spectacles of light, sound and image. Advice to book your tickets in advance to reduce the entry time.

It’s a beautiful museum with a bit of interactive activities and has a unique playground for kids. We loved the experience with our three year old, even though, the security at the scanning gate was quite rude in asking us to step back for a group of people who came after us and instructing poorly how we should control our baby. The staff at the front desk and some in the exhibition rooms were friendly and informative, on the other hand.

Top notch museum experience. It's a luxury museum. Wall LCD giant screens with sounds where Nature elements can be experienced. The nation's rich cultural values are portrayed meticulously. For residents(who have Qatar id visit is absolutely free of cost. Got restaurants and cafes. Can buy souvenirs. Got enough help desks. Gigantic area. After the exit you'd be lost and wouldn't have a clue as to where the car parking is.Must visit you'd love it. Thank me later for the review 🤩

Great place for the people who loves history, who want to know about the Qatar tradition. Infrastructure is good and securing of your history is done at very good level. A magnificent work of Architecture! I was blown away when I saw this place. To think that all those sharp edges were made from concrete and not metal is mind blowing. The interior is history at its finest. The people Qatar literally traced their roots with EVIDENCE and displayed it for the world to see in fine fashion. About 11 exhibition points for you to explore. Trust me when I say 6hrs is not enough to have a good feel of what is on display. The light show at the end of the exhibitions was the best for me, maybe bcos I'm a photographer but boy!!!! That light exhibition is the best I've ever seen! You sit in there for 5mins, you'll definitely go into trance and think about your life. It's too beautiful.

Entrance fee is 50riyals for a 1.5hrs of tour. I did not get to tour because I have limited time but the place is superb! You will get a ride from parking to entrance for free. You can tip if you want. The architectural structures are awesome and the history is amicable. Try to get to every corner of it. They also have souvenirs of the desert rose itself. Staff are very friendly. This is one of the best must-visit places when you are in Qatar. The library was closed during my visit but the restaurant was quiet and perfect spot for reading, eating, or just grabbing coffee or a cold drink perhaps. They got it. Prices for the menu is a little high up but ok.

Really enjoyable time at Qatar National Museum. It is divided into two/three sections and in my opinion the best part is the last one. It explains modern history of Qatar, how it has evolved over the centuries, how oil discovery helped Qatar's economic and social development in the last century and what is the current situation in the present. If you have time, I fully recommend to take your time and visit it with calm. In my case, the visit took around 3 hours.

What an absolutely amazing museum; best one I’ve ever been to. The attention to detail and spare-no-expense of course shows but it’s the creativity of the spaces that really impressed. Even if you could care less for history and ancient artifacts go for the sheer visual and audio pleasantry of experience.

A museum with an architecture like no other where high tech projections combine seamlessly with the traditional Arabic style. Even though not many and not very diverse, the exhibits are cleverly presented in very modern glass only showcase. It is a place that definitely worths a visit!

Best museum I've ever been to in my life. The audio-visual projections were so beautifully crafted and curated, guiding your senses from one exhibit to the next. The combination of projections as well as the exhibit items enhanced the experience to an incredibly immersive level. Take time to walk through slowly, and take a seat where you can to watch and enjoy the full experience.

Housed in a large, architecturally stunning building, it's a treasure trove of artifacts that narrate Qatar's history, with latest projection/light displays. It's an excellent destination for those looking to gain insights into the country. The entrance fee is 50 AED for tourists, while locals and residents can enjoy free admission. Definitely a must-visit! 👍🏻

Well worth a visit. Sent two hours touring and then took a break at the museum restaurant before completing the tour. Very well done end-to-end. We now have a much better understanding of the history of Qatar from many perspectives.

The National Museum of Qatar offers a truly exceptional experience. The architectural brilliance evident in both the interior and exterior is captivating. The expositions are thoughtfully curated, catering to all generations with engaging narratives behind each display. The ticket price at 50 QAR is reasonable, and the 50% discount for students is commendable. The presence of a cozy coffee shop adds to the overall enjoyment, and the souvenir shop boasts a delightful array of items. A visit here is not just a museum trip but a journey through time and culture.

Beautiful place with exceptional design for the building and the walk ways within the museum. It really provides great views of the history of Qatar at different times. Qataris are very well proud of their country and it is really very well deserved at the level that they are enjoying. The museum lacks visitors guidance to have full understanding of the presented valuable and expensive items demonstrated all over the place. There are several interactive items that would engrave the information about whatever presented. The parking space is good and at reasonable distance from the entrance of the museum. The access to the museum is really excellent and made easy by the numerous signs all over the place.

Visited the Qatar National Museum on my birthday, accompanied by my beloved husband. It was a truly enriching experience. Amidst the continuous heartbreaking events in Gaza, this museum served as a sanctuary for my weary soul. It’s a place where one can find a moment of peace and relief from the ongoing turmoil. The museum’s serene environment and rich cultural heritage provided a much-needed respite, helping to alleviate a lot of stress. Highly recommend it for anyone looking for tranquility and a deep dive into history of Qatar.
