I booked my ticket to Mathaf online in their website. Qatar residents can enter the museum for free. When I arrived, they just scanned my QR code and I was able to enter the museum. The staff are friendly and approachable they even offer free lockers for you to leave your belongings. The museum showcases amazing paintings, sculptures and art installations. There is a small library inside and an interactive art room for kids. The location is accessible via public transportation. You can get there using the education city tram (blue line). Just check the train schedule before going if you decide to use the tram. I just wish there was a coffee shop or restaurant nearby.

Mathaf Museum is a wonderful modern art exhibition where unique items are displayed depending on a certain theme. The current theme displayed was modern Beirut. Amazing collection of photographs and art pieces. The museum has a vast parking lot and contains a mini cafe with a gift shop. It's free of charge on qatar museum website. Must visit!

Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art in Doha is a unique and important museum, its collection is impressive, with works by some of the most important Arab artists of the 20th and 21st centuries. Some parts of the museum were under renovation during my visit, but admission was free, even though I am not a resident. However, I did find the museum's layout to be confusing, and the signage was not always there or clear. If there was no security to show the way, we would be lost. It was also difficult to find the museum by car, and better signage is needed to indicate how to get to the museum and where to park. Overall, I think the Mathaf is a worthwhile visit for anyone interested in modern and contemporary art.

A museum a little away from the city center that does deserve a visit. Well organised with good rotation showcases and a collection of art projects that I really enjoyed.

Entry fee at 50 Rials (unless you’re a citizen, in which case it is free). Front reception desk appear to be solely interested in trying to sell you the museum pass. Someone inside to talk about the pieces in more detail would’ve been a nice addition, as some pieces do not have a description behind it. There is a limited amount of diversity in terms of the artists used, but the art itself is very unique and interesting, with a great range of digital, oil canvas and sculptures available throughout. A bit out of the way and difficult to locate the entrance, however if you are in Education city, this and the new mosque are certainly worth the combined visit.

Nice collection. Comparitivly less collection than other museums in Qatar. Calm and quiet place for walk around. Situated closely to education city stadium. It gives a nice view of stadium. Don't expect too much from the museum but the collections are so nice.

Whilst its clearly stated on their website that the museum is open, it was closed when we visited. Also, the building was undergoing some renovations at the time. This organization needs to update their website accordingly.

I love this place 😍 All the exhibitions are amazing and high quality. Anyone who loves modern art should pay a visit. For residents the entrance is free, for visitors it’s only 50 QAR. I would suggest you to avoid the museum coffee, because as much as I would like to like it, it’s only mediocre. The place looks great but I got the worst matcha latte in my life and it was expensive too. (At the time of our visit there were no cakes or sandwiches available).

One of the best museum that need to be visited once if you are in Qatar, Entry is free for all , there are many modern art works which look very simple but the having some meaning if you look at other perception having a sense of Art , the visitors here are few during weekdays which will the best time to visit and there are tram access 50 meter away from this museum.

Probably the most boring museum in Qatar. Just some oil paintings and sculptures with not so detailed description. There's a small library too. They're charging QR50 for non-residents for such an awful collection. Instead, they should be handing out QR50 for everyone visiting the museum. Just 2 people during my visit, me n my wife.

A beautiful museum, it’s small quiet and cozy it’s almost a hidden gem. Their temporary galleries are beautiful otherwise their permanent gallery is rather small. They have a nice little library where they host workshops and open to the public classes, it’s a really cute little spot.

Nice small museum situated at a calm place in Doha. The art works are not the usual what we see in other places.. However when I visited I couldn't see any other people visiting the museum and also some of the sections of the museum was kept closed and so it didn't take more than an hour to slowly go through the museum..

Logistics are great, the exhibition rooms are cool, lights are perfect, the staff is very helpful. Modern (starting from the '60s...) art is however pointless, so only go if you're interested in that.

Another lovely museum on Qatar. This one features modern & contemporary works. Take advantage of any temporary exhibits as they are always well done. If you are interested in educational opportunities, there are programs available for children and adults. Check their website or call to find out the latest offerings. They are always well organized. A well appointed store and cafe are also available. *Parking available isn't extensive, but never had a problem as it never seemed very busy. You can take a free shuttle from the MIA on the Corniche and back or vice versa.

This is a very small museum and some painting and modern arts. Who are interested in painting and different types of arts they like this place.. here great Library and small cafe too. Outside small park. Easy to visit this place.. qatar residency is free. And without qid person can give fees per person 50 riyal to visit this museum.

I got the one pass through Qatar Creates and Mathaf was one or the places I was able to visit for free.. the service was wonderful! I got there a bit late and they still let me in to experience it.. they rushed me a little bit and couldn’t get to experience it all but that was my fault for getting there late. Loved it nonetheless… leaned a lot from the different exhibits!

Interesting museum of Arab modern and contemporary art. Three floors, many different installations. During the World Cup the main exhibitions were: - Almaha Almaadeed: Inspired by the Land - Taysir Batniji (1966 Gaza): No Condition is Permanent - Rubaiyat Qatar: One Tiger or Another And from galleries 8 to 12, the permanent exhibitions. Also some outdoor installations, including an Annex dedicated exclusively to contemporary art, called Majaz.

Modern Art, museum in Doha. For those who are interested to feel the middle east modern art, I believe it is a place where you should definitely go! Museum is not to big, well arranged and I learnt a couple of things even though I am not keen in modern art. -- Access wise is it a mess... Education City is still under construction so watch out the signs more than the GPS 😉 -- You can eat there, they also have a dedicated library, sittings and a kids area 😊

Excellent window into hitherto little known facets of Arab art. A real eye opener. Shame that it's location is not well known. It is not even properly signposted as you reach the vicinity of the property. An asset that Qatar should be proud of seems to be kept hidden!

I thoroughly enjoyed the Arab Museum of Modern Art by Mathaf. It was my last day in Doha and we managed to squeak it into my schedule and it was an eye opener. Much better than many modern art museums I have seen around the world. I highly recommend a visit to Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art and the surrounding Education City.

El Anatusi's work is a revalation for me. He takes the ordinary and makes it extraordinary, challenging me to think about the Art and Culture of Muslim Africa from the perspective of a Muslim African, and the impact of the highjacking of Muslim Africa by Europeans. "Walls" is a powerful counter narrative to the unjust blockade of Qatar by the GCC, the Trump adminstration in the US, and the Brexiteers in the UK; they seek to divide us and turn us against each other, we will not let that happen. Be prepared to be challenged and filled with a sense of wonder.
