f you don't know it yet, Qatar is also home to smaller uninhabited islands along its coast. One of these islands lies off the coast of Doha and is a popular weekend destination of citizens and residents because of its proximity to Doha and The Pearl Qatar. If you haven't been to Al Safliya island, scroll down to get to know more about it! Al Safliya island location The manta ray shaped island is located south of The Pearl Qatar. As you can see in Google's satellite map, the island's northern and northeastern side is shallower and sandy which is in contrast to its southern side. Since the water near the shores of Al Safliya is shallow, the dhow boat anchors from a distance and you can either hop on a smaller boat (depending on the arrangement with your tour provi der) or swim to the shore.

The small uninhabited island of Al Safliya lies off the coast of Doha, south of the Pearl. A natural paradise with almost no facilities, it’s the perfect destination for nature lovers to enjoy the sun, simply relax or take on various water activities. On the southern part of the island, wooden umbrellas lie on the beach, letting visitors enjoy the sun. There are no restrooms or other facilities on the island though- so if you are planning a visit, make sure you bring your own supplies.

Safliyah Island is about 4km out from Doha and is my favorite weekend island getaway in Qatar!!!! I love this place. It is very basic. There are about 10+ permanent shade structures on the island but other than that is is a la natural with no facilities. We have a boat and spend many weekends out here chilling in our hammock on the island and making a bbq and some music and watching the sunset. If you don't have your own boat you can rent a boat or jet ski from 'Abes Marine'. He has loads of options.

Amazing man made island for tourism out in the Arabian Gulf. We took a tour cruise on a local Dhow boat that anchored just off this island as the sea around it is extremely shallow. Apparently extra salt is pumped into this area off of Doha to help with buoyancy and it really shows. We jumped off the both and immediately felt the salt burn our eyes and throats. Other than that, the water and beach was extremely clean, there weren't many tourists out at this time so we basically had the area to ourselves. Definitely a once in a lifetime trip. Would recommend to anyone!

We went on a trip there. Nothing special despite the organization of the trip being good. Unless you are going there with your yacht, don't even bother. The other side of the island smells, too 😅 not saying its terrible but just not worth it, really..

a wonderful place in Qatar..as very romantic ,highly neat and peaceful island..we went with our friends and we enjoyed a lot ..you could close view of pearl Qatar and west bay Qatar ...but boat riding highly expensive per hour 700qr.but the island is and the beach is very beautiful//highly recommend .................................
