My wife loves Indian food, when it was her birthday we had to find the best fine dining restaurant that serves Indian cuisine in Doha. Our search ended with Qalamkarri restaurant located in the banyan tree hotel. This was reviewed very high on Google Maps and I had also visited it as part of my tour of the Banyan tree hotel. So we went for it. The chef from Bangalore did not disappoint us at all - the dishes were very creatively designed and extremely tasty. We started with the Paan Patha Aloo Chaat that was served with potatoes and crispy paan leaves deep fried. Next came the Murgh Angara which were spicy 🌶 but still good for our teenage girl to eat without any qualms. The Tandoori Kulcha was a good break between the starters and the main course. The chef also presented us pallet cleansers in the form of pani puris with a twist no water. They were amazing. Finally the main dish that we were waiting for arrived it was the Murgh Tikka Biryani fully draped inside a sheath of dough (like parda Biryani). The chicken was succulent and juicy and the aroma appetizing. Finally we closed our dinner with Gulab Jamun Cream Brulee a unique dessert that was not very sweet (thank goddess) and still very tasty. Overall the service, ambiance, food and the view of the doha corniche were all splendid. My only qualm was the loud noises that would erupt each time the kitchen door swung open, disturbing the peace and tranquillity of our dining experience. Will be go back - Y E S!!!

Good food with dark ambience ( I saw a guest using torch to view the food😂😂). Anyway the food was tasty and good. Service was quick. The view was really good but our seating allotted to us wasn't great. ( may be cos of the last minute booking). Garlic Nan was crispy, dal shorba tasted thick n nice. Dal makhni and panner tikka were also nice. Only if the ambience was better ( light up and better table setting) I would have loved it

Went for my father's birthday, it was totally worth the experience. The ambience (with view), food and service was amazing. Really liked their crispy cheese dhai kebab.

Excellent food. Starters alone can fill you up. Beautiful setting, serene feel, sound and taste. Very calm ... But expected for a Banyan Tree restau. Highly recommend.

Qalamkari I was very excited to visit Qalamkari after hearing rave reviews from my mom. Please find my review below- Masala Dani Night- buffet dinner Ambience: Good lighting Good interiors Staff: Polite Cheerful Could be better if they were a bit quicker with the orders and able to differentiate between paneer and chicken. Food: Very aesthetically plated Welcome drink served after starters ( had to be reminded twice) Starter- Took very long time Nonveg starters taste could be significantly better. In the repeat round of the non veg starters it was noted that they missed the cheese on the chicken kebab compared to the previous one served and the chicken was very hard compared to the first round which was soft and tender. A fine dining restaurant should have a consistency in the food taste. A veg starter - sperical with a cheese white sauce filling was nice Chaats, idli and dosa and the other mains - comparable to any Indian restaurant. One would expect a much better standard of flavour from an Indian fine dining restaurant. Dessert- Rasmalai , was hard and rubbery with a watery syrup ( indian street vendors and supermarket brands are better) Kulfi- excellent and one of the best I have had Gulab Jamun- was soft and tasty. But when asked for a repeat serving , they reverted saying it was over. Service: Could be quicker but all staff were very cheerful. Cutlery - tablespoons very placed for dessert despite requesting for dessert spoons which were forgotten. Didnt remind again as we did not want to be 'those' annoying guests. One would expect a finger wash bowl or wet wipes at any fine dining restaurant especially an Indian one. There were none here. Buffet or a limited buffet night? Having been to several Michelin Star indian restaurants around the world , I definitely would advise the team to try and improve.

Perfect place for every occasion…. Celebrated my mothers birthday and the staff, ambiance, care, and yes offcourse the food quality were amazing! Mocktails and vegetarian food was amazing! For someone from India, the dishes weren’t an apt comparison with real Indian Food. The atmosphere, people and the view was amazing, just the food wasn’t. Don’t go with very flavourful and amazing expectation

It was an awesome experience specially for a food lover. Simple dishes like chicken 65 or naan or deserts are very tasty as yhey created fusion usjng different ingredients. Place is fabulous so as the service. Food is bit on expensive but worth it. On top of that the view from 25th floor is nice

Premium fine dining Indian restaurant. However the Indian food taste could be better. The portion size can also be improved. We tried out their chat varieties, the flavors could be better as well. The chai was the best. The decorations, the restaurant set up and location is beyond classy.

I visited the restaurant for the first time with my family yesterday for dinner and it was disappointing. Even though the ambience and the food were good, the service was not that great. They had taken unusually long to serve beverage and upon asking about the same, they responded saying it was a busy day and I noticed there were more staff than the guests. Upon our request to speak to the supervisor Mr. Roshan, he failed to even attend the table. I would not visit the restaurant again and neither will I recommend the same.

Last night we had a team dinner in Qalamkarri, Priya and her team have turned our Dinner to an unforgettable experience. The chef prepared for us a wide range of amazing Indian food from allover India, it was actually a great Journey not just a dinning experience.
