The Chicago Riverwalk is so beautiful. If it's your first time visiting Chicago the Riverwalk is the perfect way to experience some of the most beautiful parts of the cities. There's plenty of places to sit down and relax, grab a bite of food, and just enjoy the atmosphere. They have water taxis and guided tours you can take, but it's just as fun if you decide to go on a walk with one of your friends and just take your time. The color of the water is so gorgeous and unique due to the plankton and other marine life that make their home here. You can also take a subway train a few blocks away so you don't need to drive and park in the city when visiting here. I highly recommend stopping by if you find yourself in Chicago.

This is a very pleasant way (apart from the cruises) to see some of the great architecture of Chicago. The walkways are kept clean and there are plenty of riverside cafes and bars to stop out. The walkway leads to a path along Lake Michigan and from here you can go for miles if you want to. I believe there is something like 26-28 miles of walking paths around the river and lake. There are signs to explain the route and there are toilets that seem to be cleaned regularly. I loved it❣️

One of a kind. One of the most beautiful walks in the world. Plenty of outdoor cafes and bars. A MUST SEE if you are visiting in summer. Take a boat cruise while you're here. Enjoy the most iconic architecture in the world. Rarely over crowded. Always pleasing.

I strolled from the Field Museum alongside Lake Michigan to the Riverwalk, which proved to be an enjoyable and rejuvenating experience. Along the way, I encountered numerous people engaged in activities like running and enjoying lively gatherings. The Riverwalk boasts a plethora of restaurants and bars where you can comfortably savor a drink while taking in the breathtaking views. I can guarantee that you'll lose track of time in such a captivating setting. If you ever find yourself in Chicago, you absolutely must take a walk along this route at least once!

We came two days after they dyed the water green. Even though nothing is open to enjoy other than walk it was still clean, enjoyable and fun to see the water so bright and vivid. I love coming here in the summer to get a cocktail or a snack. We also enjoyed it this year around Christmas time to see all the beautiful lights. Always a must when in Chicago.

I’m from Louisville KY and we have a riverfront area that I absolutely love. The Riverwalk in Chicago puts it to shame. The views with the buildings are so beautiful. It’s a nice long area to have a walk with a very scenic vibe.

Nice area We loved it, it was a very easy walk and place to enjoy and admire the architecture of Chicago, it's breath taking and very peaceful. Everywhere you can see a place to sit, meditate if you like and enjoy the all the river has to offer. The Riverwalk is nice in the evening right then is getting ready to get dark. The buildings are amazing. People are nice and everywhere you got to can find an excuse to take beautiful pictures of new and old architecture. The styles are so different and complex. It is just beautiful!

It's really nice and enjoyable. Even though we went on April, it was really cold and windy. The walking path was but in some places some construction work was going on. The view is awesome, with the combination of old and new buildings. We started working from Millennium Park, alongside the lake and then took the River Walk, it's quite a long walk but it's nice.

The Chicago Riverwalk is a delightful experience, but it can be challenging due to limited parking and its busy atmosphere. With the Trump Tower gracing the skyline, this bustling area offers dining options and a amazing walk and view of the river. It is a must-visit spot along the iconic river for both locals and visitors.

Another place I will always bring my friends when they visit Chicago! Chicago Riverwalk is the perfect place to look at the grand architecture and of course, the Chicago River. When the weather is nice, you can see the river boats passing you by as you walk along too. Also, a great spot to look at the famous green river during St Patrick’s Day ☺️! There are also spots where you can enjoy beer, cider, wine and other various foods. Now it seems like they will be back in business this spring/summertime so make sure to enjoy them! 🏙💙

The River walk is like the epicenter of Chicago. Seeing it evolve over 15 years dramatically it is now one of the most beautiful and active places for tourists and city folks. It is peaceful and safe at night. Lots of entertainment and places to relax along the Chicago River.

Wonderful walk by the river. A great way to discover the city at your own pace and take lovely pictures of the buildings. In the winter, it’s also very calm and you won’t see many people there. If you’re lucky to arrive in Chicago on a sunny day, the riverwalk is the perfect way to begin your trip!

  • 4/5 Topia B. 1 year ago on Google
Absolutely beautiful, relaxing. Find yourself a seat on the very top of the amphitheater like seating overlooking the river with a cup of coffee or drink from one of the cafés along the stretch, take a small cushion or folded blanket to soften the pressure of hard concrete on the butt and retreat into your zen watching the paddle boaters and river cruise ships going up and down the river. The skyscrapers are impressive and simply beautiful to look at at nights.

I’m in love! I think Chicago might have the best river walk in the country?!? It’s very possible, next to San Antonio! Very clean, great atmosphere, you can walk forever and still see all the amazing views of the city. The boat tour at night gave us a awesome view of all the buildings lit up. So beautiful!

So much to do and experience here. The Chicago Riverwalk is where a fun day begins and ends. This family friendly area has it all. Activities, entertainment, restaurants, and shopping. Amazing views of the Windy City and the Chicago River, so get your cameras ready. Take a bus or riverboat tour, munch on the classic deep dish pizza or a Chicago hotdog, and take in the beauty of the Chicago Skyline with all it's architectural marvels. Add the Chicago Riverwalk to your itinerary.

Chicago is a pretty expensive city. However, to admire its worldwide famous skyscrapers and river scenery you don't need a penny. Just enter the Riverwalk at any place and follow it. You'll pass by many astonishing buildings and see them from another perspective. We did it early morning and at night - felt safe all the time.

I'd absolutely reccomend doing at least part of the river walk! It was a great spot to see a lot of the downtown Chicago buildings and architecture. When we visited it was foggy and rainy but still a great experience. I loved it and will definitely be going back again next time I visit.

My favorite way to explore a new city is to just go out for a long walk. The Chicago Riverwalk has some amazing views of the river and the impressive buildings and beautiful architecture that surround it. It felt very safe with a lot of locals and tourists enjoying the trail. There are plenty of bars and restaurants along the Riverwalk if you want to stop for a bite or a beer.

Chicago's Riverwalk 1.25 miles Chicago River (Lake Michigan) East end to West end the Chicago Riverwalk is an elegant and visually rewarding excursion. Worth your time to capture the beauty of the Chicago cityscape. The Riverwalk path is easily traversable and made up of paved concrete. Expect under normal conditions 40 minutes to complete the whole journey. The weather was exceptional on this day... -The Riverwalk has many places where one can rest or if you choose 'lay out in the sun'. Perfect compliment to an afternoon before lunch or dinner. Truly unique experience for any city. What a natural blessing for the City of Chicago. Very impressive. Make the Riverwalk Chicago one of your top priorities... Your camera will smile 🙂 ...I entered through the West end entrance and completed the Riverwalk journey at the East end.

A must see and visit, walk in the Chicago downtown and Central loop area! This 1.25 mile walk is absolutely relaxing and can also be very busy depending on the time of the day. This stretch on the south side of Chicago River, from Lake Street to Lake Michigan is lined up with art, monuments and museums, bars and restaurants etc. The best time to visit is probably earlier in the mornings, especially if you want to jog along the river walk take a quiet stroll before it gets crowded mid day or especially in the evening. There are several activities along the river such as kayaking and boat tours. There are museums such as the Chicago Architecture center and the McCormick Bridgehouse & Chicago River Museum along the river walk. You can also catch a lot of public art along the river walk. You can catch a glimpse of some of the spectacular high rises and architecture of Chicago downtown from along this walk. Would recommend a few walks along the river walk, at different times of the day to get different perspectives and experiences.

An excellent place to walk around, especially at dusk. You’re walking right along the river, passing giant skyscrapers, docked boats, and the few drinking spots. Definitely a must-visit on your trip to Chicago.

There are a lot of rental agencies available to take you on a tour through the river walk. I rented through Mercury for $40 pp. I had a really great time with my family, and Sarah, the tour guide, gave an excellent architectural tour filled with fun facts. It’s a must in the city and I recommend booking the 5 pm tour so you can get to see the sunset.

I love all the the vendors the added along the river walk and how nice the whole path looks now. Before it was so small and not much to do but from taco stand to coffee shops there's so much to do on the boardwalk. I absolutely love the renovation, not sure how does the restaurants operate during the winter time but in summer it's literally and amazing place to be.

LOVE this area of Chicago. We did the Chicago Architectural Tour and the views from the water are beautiful. We were lucky to have gorgeous weather. That tour might not be near as much fun in the rain…but there is an indoor area for that unfortunate event.

The Riverwalk in Chicago is a captivating urban oasis that provides an unparalleled standing view of the city's iconic buildings, meandering river, and charming bridges. Strolling along the Riverwalk is a sensory delight. The architecture of the surrounding skyscrapers, including the Marina city and Trump Tower, looms majestically overhead, offering a stark yet beautiful contrast to the tranquil waters of the Chicago River.

I live in the Loop and am a regular visitor of the Riverwalk with my poodle Goose. It’s great for walking dogs and there is so much to do and see. I’m so glad we have a gem of an outdoor space like this in the heart of downtown Chicago.

Great tourist attraction. Friendly for kids, adults, and a good area for date night, girls night out or just to relax and enjoy your favorite beverage by the water. Essentially there is something for everyone from Kayaking, boating, water tours, museums, music, food, drinks, etc.

Very happening place in downtown Chicago. The river has a really cool greenish blue tint to it plenty of party boats architectural boat tours or just boats that pier hop you further along your way. Riding on the water through the city is a very cool experience. It's a very friendly atmosphere with a pleasant mix of business oriented people people walking their dogs riding bikes or exercising. More than a handful of places to stop and grab a drink or a bite to eat along the water outside. Spiral walkways that connect you back up to the city streets. Definitely something to stop by and check out while in Chicago I recommend stopping at one of the outdoor bars and grabbing a drink and watching the world go by It's a very relaxing atmosphere.

The Best River walk of them all. The Wife and I go to enjoy the views as many times as We can. Usually We will park as far west as We can and walk all the way to Navy Pier and back. Always a great time and great excersize for the both of Us.

The last time i went was for St Patricks day to see the river dyed green. Better during summer for sure, with all the places along the walk open. I always use spot hero to find parking in a garage. Unfortunately, the cheapest is around 14$ for a couple of hours, just a few blocks away.

  • 4/5 Edward B. 1 year ago on Google
Overall, walking along the river walk was an enjoyable experience. It could have been kept cleaner but that's more indicative of Chicago rather than the Riverwalk specifically. The Riverwalk gives you an opportunity to skip waiting for lights while having a more interesting perspective.

I didn't think we had time to visit the Riverwalk but the hunt for cheaper parking helped us end up there. Definitely a nice place for a stroll or even for outdoor dining. It offers a different view of Chicago's skyscrapers. It's also fun watching the numerous boats going by.

Amazing view and place is this.!!!! You can walk alongside the river with the sight of majestic buildings and amazing restaurants. So much to do there, one can never get bored of this place, right in the center of downtown Chicago. Great place to take a boat tour (the architectural tours are the best) of the river all the way out to the lakes for the best views of Chicago. Also, a great spot to grab a beer and a Chicago dog. Finding a place to park was also easy, but beware: Every lot in the area is 22 bucks.

The Chicago Riverwalk I’d pretty nice. Reasonably clean except some humans are just a**ho**s and don’t clean up after their dogs. A few good drink stops to make. The Northman is where you want to head! The skyline views are awesome. Great place for a run. Not so much for biking. This is where you’ll catch all the riverboat tours too, which I recommend. I had a nice view of Trump Tower when the 3rd indictment came through so that was nice.

This place is nice. I did a river architecture boat tour. There are many different boat down there that offer tours so you have many choices. There are restaurants and activities for all ages. They are not handicap accessible/ friendly. Finding parking is a challenge so arrive at least 1 hr early for any reservations.
