Not such a Great House, certainly Old though. Started with a rum coke and a sparkling water. Actually got a rum, with a seperate glass of about 10 cl of non-sparkling left-over of a big coke bottle. The sparkling water was still water instead. Served in a plastic bottle, no glass. They only had 3 items out of their entire menu. Ordered a large pumpkin soup and spare ribs. The soup turned out to be as expensive as the ribs and was a regular size in Europe. Asked for bread with the soup, they didn't have any. Asked for mayonnaise, they didn't have any. Well, if you call yourself a Chef, then you should be able to make mayonnaise. How can you not have bread or mayonnaise in a restaurant?? We got 1 napkin for the both of us. Oh yes, and the prices shown on the menu are subject to a surcharge of 25%!! Only payable in cash as the machine "didn't work". Ab-so-lutely to be avoided!

A lovely restaurant, I visited Dominica just over 6 months after hurricane Maria and the Great Old House seemed to be the last one standing in the capital Roseau, it seemed to be the last of the great and iconic restaurants left by the hurricane, I was so glad we came early on Sunday, because the queue for seats quickly grew and grew as people were leaving church services in Roseau, I had made a fleeting visit to my father, while I was participating in the Jazz Festival on the nearby island of St Lucia, I had jumped on the Le’ Express ferry on Saturday, visiting the Great Old House for Sunday Lunch before returning to St Lucia was the perfect dining decision made, the service, the view, the food, drinks were all on point, I think the picture describes the moment and the ambiance, will definitely return again.

We had wings, cheesy garlic bread, seafood salad, and garlic butter shrimp. Excellent food. Excellent Pina colada. The waiter was excellent. Waitress took 45 minutes to get our bill, and we had to fetch her.

This place is by far one of the best restaurants I have eaten at on the island. You will not be disappointed. I mean service is great, the food exceptional. It is not a fast food restaurant so if you are looking for a quick meal, this is not the place for you. If you are looking for culinary experience--you have found a gem in this place. Friendly staff and that goes for the owner Steve as well. I ate here for the 1st time in March and knew that when I visited again I would return. Tonight I did with my mom and brother. We were not disappointed.

We tried to get Chinese at the restaurant nearby but they were closed so a local walked us here instead. Overall great service. They accepted our group of 7. The soup and salad was very good and the mahi was not overdone (which we find common). We also shared the cheese bread which was also fresh. Vegetarian friendly. The Yellowtail wine served is very expensive at $35 USD but that’s kind of expected on island. Look on your final bill to see if service and additional VAT tax was added.

I usually do not like leaving bad reviews for a business because I know how much work goes into an establishment, being a chef myself but Ive been sitting here for 2 hours and still haven’t received my meal. The restaurant is empty and had only 4-5 tables seated. After a long day of hiking and exploring i just want a decent hot meal at a reasonable time. I understand It’s an island and this is Caribbean time lol … but 2 hours is too long a wait for some grilled shrimp and sides for a restaurant that has no views or a vibe. The food was good when it finally arrived! But make sure you either have a lot of time or your hands or you are not hungry when u arrive at the restaurant. I would urge the staff to please improve their service and be mindful of the diners time. Most travelers are super tired and hungry after a day of exploring and would appreciate prompt attentive service. Thank you for feeding me though, I am grateful for the food.

The waitress was surly, the food was served incredibly late, in several stages so we each ate alone and it was cold and of poor standard. We were then seriously overcharged, contrary to the menu prices shown. When we complained, the waitress ignored us. When we refused to pay, we were relieved to be assisted by Dalton who was very helpful and we came to a fair agreement over payment. Such a shame as we went with relatives who had eaten there regularly and they agreed that it had really gone down hill and they would not be returning.

A quaint restaurant close near to the roundabout in Roseau. The food was marvelous! The ambience was quiet, rich, old time colonial. The best pommcythere juice ever, I think they call it June Plum! Limited menu choices but it's ok because they are a small restaurant eg they were out of one fish that was needed for a few dishes and some side dishes were not available. What we got was delicious and the plating was good we had to definitely admire before we ate the food. They hands down have the best steamed vegetables I've ever had in my life...can't imagine that as an adult I'm actually typing that lol. Did I mention the food is marvelous? We walked from our hotel to there in about 8 mins. You can't really see a sign and we doubted it was a restaurant as it just looks like and old colonial house. as we walked closer the restaurant setting gave it away. If you have a car, there is street parking. I gave it 4 stars because the area looked a little shady but it was my perspective...my personal experience of being on the guard all the time from where I live. No one harassed us at all though. Visit the place!

So disappointing, two times in a row. Subpar food was the least of the problems. On my first visit, I thought the food was decent enough to try again, the second visit was even more disappointing. My fried snapper was soaking in oil to the point where the side on the plate was inedible. Such a shame to treat such a delicious ingredient that way. There was no flavor, just salt and oil. When I tried to point out these problems to the owner, he very haughtily told me that it was just me who had a problem. In summary, the fish was inedible (more than half stayed on the plate), the chocolate cake was dry and tasted like it had been sitting out for a couple weeks, and the coffee was cold. The wait staff are truly amazing, trying to ease frustrated customers, while the boss posé. Bad management, terrible food, and overpriced. A real shame.

BEWARE : SCAMMERS!! Avoid at all costs! Don't go to this restaurant, they ripped us off on prices and kept their false prices even after showing them their mistake, which was clearly intended as a bad intention. I strongly advise against it!

Honestly...the food is good...we were early so it was served quite quickly...10 of my friends joined in after and that's when the problem started...service became slow (one waitress) I think she was annoyed as everyone came in together...she actually told one that he came so late that they were ready to close....one reason I believe that contributes to the poor service is the fact that the restaurant charges a service charge and keeps it all for themselves. Not a cent is passed on to the staff....now tell me...isn't a restaurant opened to "serve " people? So why are they charging us to be served? I will not patronize here again
