While it may have looked like a tourist trap from the outside, we were extremely impressed on the inside! We got a table up on the gallery to have the best view of the Irish dancing. Our server was extremely friendly and attentive, chatting us up while we waited for our group. We ordered oysters which came with a delicious sauce, and also had fish and chips. Most of us had Guinness, but one in our party had a cocktail which was good. The dancing is the reason to visit though! They were super talented and fun to watch. The decor is also impressive. Fun, albeit pricey, place to enjoy food, drinks, and dancing.

We visited here on a Sunday for lunch - we went for a slightly later lunch and had no problem getting a table however don't book at your own risk! The restaurant is in an old church which is very clear from the inside - it has a lovely atmosphere and the food was delicious. Honestly one of the best fish and chips I've eaten in a while! The staff were also very good and despite being obviously busy they ensured that we were seen to whenever our drinks were running low. Very enjoyable and would visit again.

A definite 'must see' when visiting Dublin. I'd even say it was the highlight. First of all the location is amazing. Very unique. The food (I had the special of the day) was delicious and the service was very attentive and so kind. We reserved well in advance and had a wonderful view of the whole church. Highly recommend!

Great place! Super lovely atmosphere and they had live music and a duo doing traditional Irish dancing. It was super great to watch while eating and having drinks. Be sure to book in advance as they run out of spots quickly. My partner and I ordered the cod and the strip loin steak and it was super tasty. They also have lots of drink options so be sure to try a couple of their cocktails. However as tasty as the food was, and how good the cocktails and the entertainment was it’s still a bit of a touristy place and therefore it’s (over) priced accordingly. So if you want to visit come for drinks but the food isn’t a necessity.

An unforgettable experience for sure. Staff was super friendly and helpful! You should book in advance, but if you just show up they'll try to get you a table. Food was delicious! Great atmosphere, the Sunday music/dance make it memorable. A must-try!

I can recommend the place! It was surprisingly good. Usually I don’t expect great service/food quality from touristic places, and The Church Cafe pleasantly surprised me. Fast service, good food, delicious ciders and beers for the fair price. And atmosphere was just outstanding. The only tiny minus - it can be a bit too loud, but that’s a problem of all pubs:) Also, when we asked a waitress to make a picture of us, she took it very seriously really put an effort. Thanks to her we have nice memories.

Wonderful experience. Only came for a drink but left with much more. Upon entering we were greeted with live music and Irish dancing, alongside a lovely atmosphere. The building is beautiful but the reworked interior makes it look even more magical. There is a second floor featuring a balcony that overlooks the whole venue as well as an old golden organ, being my favorite part.

One of the most unique restaurant experiences in Dublin. The place was indeed a church and transformed into an outstanding restaurant. The atmosphere is really warm. The food was excellent and perfectly cooked. Great variety of drinks and beers makes it a great place not only for food but for a night out as well. Make sure to reserve your place.

Came here for just a drink so sadly can’t comment on the food. We got a mulled wine with mince pies for 7€. It was a very cute and very decorated place and a great break from the cold. Little bit pricey but that is to be expected!

As the name implies it used to be a church but I have to confess I was never in it until it became a bar. It works very well and the stained glass windows, high ceiling and organ give it great character. There is a great choice of beers and spirits here. They also do food and it is very popular so reservations are essential. Located off Mary street it's a little of the beaten track but well worth making a visit.

Busy place, but always a place to sit. Convenient location and a historic ambient. We ordered 🍔, was nice, but the butter squash curry not, cheap sticky rice, do not recommend this dish. Staff very professional and attentive.

"Renowned as the first galleried church in Dublin and a perfect example of classical church architecture" The Church was recommended to me and I'm glad it was. I loved the grandeur of this setting, a 17th century church on north side of the River Liffey. Thursdays you can get 2 for 1 on a small number of cocktails at the former St Mary's. In addition you can choose from a long list of spritzers, Prosecco cocktails, cocktail trees featuring "9 arms to hold a variety of cocktail or gin glasses" and Irish gins such as Bertha's Revenge. What a name! Food is limited and very average quality tho not expensive. I just had a big bowl of nachos with beef Bolognese sauce, approx 11 Euros. I sat inside (had to show my vaccination certificate to enter). The Church has lots of outdoor seating as well. Arthur Guinness was married here in this List 1 building in 1761. The church closed in 1960s, became derelict, reopened in 2005. It's now a cafe, restaurant, cellar bar and Tower function room.

The best church I'll ever visit. Live music where you can hear Irish classics (Dubliners songs f.e.), acoustic guitar, violin and even dance. Really kind staff, good food for a fair price, not expensive at all. Grab a pint, taste a "Peachy Blinder" cocktail. Best dinner experience of my trip. A "must go" for all my friends who want to visit Ireland and a definite "come back" for me whenever I return to Dublin. Cheers, from Portugal 🍻🙏🏼🇵🇹

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner here as well as the folk music and clogging that they had at 7pm. The Jameson Sours were quite good as well as the calamari, grilled cod and chicken, and their desserts. The history was interesting, especially that Handel practiced on the organ here.

Super nice spot to visit, it's actually an old church that was transformed in to a beautiful restaurant and bar, service is very good, food came out very quickly. Only suggestion is about the menu, this restaurant deserves a better options more than the same boring things you find every and anywhere.

Great ambiance and amazing decor. This converted old church building has an iconic bar and just having a drink here and admiring the inside is nice. The food however was so so. The fish and chips was a really small portion and the stew, even though tasty, was served only just lukewarm. Come for a drink and eat somewhere else.

Are you in Dublin? Then you must experience the Church Cafe. Stunning atmosphere. Great history. Personable staff. Great food selection. We focused in specialty cocktails, seafood appetizers and broad range of dinners. Whether two of you or 15 like us. Totally worthwhile.

Awesome! Great experience. Even the place is quite touristic, the food&drinks was of a good quality. Music and dancing were also a nice addition to dinner. The bar itself is beautiful and if you get a chance to get a table at the gallery at the 1st floor, you’ll be really lucky. Reservation is required, if walk-in - be prepared to get an average table somewhere in the corner, if you even get one…Quite hot inside. Kid-friendly. Very welcoming and friendly service. We loved the place, it has a great atmosphere.

Awesome experience here, a place where finally I can find a ribeye steak. Also, they cooked it the way I ordered it, and the only way this cut should be cooked. Good flavor, good sides too and great wine and drink selections. The serviced also was amazing, we had 2 people and the guy was on top of everything and the girl was definitely the cherry on top, very beautiful and Spanish speaker as well, so overall we had an amazing time here.

The Church Café, Late Bar & Restaurant in Dublin was super awesome! They make the tastiest fish and chips, and I had a yummy pint of beer with it. I think it's the best place for fish and chips in Dublin. The restaurant is cozy, and the people who work there are really nice. The warm ambiance of the venue and the attentive service blew me away. I wholeheartedly recommend The Church for an exceptional dining experience.

The Church is one of the attractive bar in Dublin City centre. It was renovated into a cafe from the 17th century church. It has a very impressive internal dining and a open dining around the church's garden area. It has live music and Irish music and dance on selective days. Book in advance for inhouse party dining.

Impressive restaurant with great food. The prices are not much different from any restaurant in the city centre. The elements of the old church are well preserved and mixed with modern design elements. The food is tasty and the staff is nice and helpful. On certain days they even have live traditional Irish music and dancing, so make sure to check it out.

Great tour. The mention of ladies having to wear wax makeup, maids having to shade their faces from the heat of the fire, hence sayings 'saving face' don't have a melt down' and 'mind your own beeswax' if being nosey

Appealing for the different decor. Friendly staff and good atmosphere. There's not much to choose from food wise but thats much like any other pub. We had the burger and the curry and they were pretty good, the traditional fish and chips were a bit blend for my taste. Recommend.

What a pleasant afternoon we had @ the Church! 🥰 For the first time after the covid we officially got an answer back from a restaurant regarding pre-booking. Their staff carefully confirmed our reservation via email and made us feel special since then! Note that it was a real person reading and answering our email back - not an automation. This brings the costumer’s experience to other level!❗️ With a prompt service, our order were delivery in a timely manner by their very friendly staff. 👏🏻 We kicked off our experience tasting their fresh Calamaris with salad - every single bite was a explosion of well balanced tastes which left us wanting for more and definitely made up our mind to plan another visit to the restaurant at least to eat those delicious bites again! 😋 For main courses I had their bacon & cheese burger while my partner order their Chicken Supreme. Both dishes met our expectations and followed the high standards of our starter! 🍔🍗 The deserts didn’t disappoint and are also highly recommended - I had their Vanilla cheesecake which made me take my hat off 😎 This culinary experience was enjoyed with live Irish music/dance show which created a welcoming and positive environment to everyone around the restaurant! 🎶 Either you are a tourist passing by Dublin - or if you are a dubliner resident and didn’t have the chance to visit it yet - we highly advise you to give yourself the chance of visiting the Church. A part of good food, the place exhale history and memoirs of this city🌹

A good and interesting place to eat, drink and have a good music. Is an old church that makes special inside, you can see the old infrastructure and many details. I need to say they have a good chef because the food was good even if we wait long to have our order.

Love this place so much that I went once for dinner and go back for lunch again during my Dublin trip. Had traditional Irish lamb stew, pork rib, mushroom soup, nojito, fruits cocktails, Irish coffee and all are so delicious except the pork rib is a little bit dry. The staffs are polite and the enviroment is good, the are live performance in the evening and you need to reserve seat for better view. Outside of the restaurant is a very beautiful decorated staircase to second floor. Lovely dining experience.

Wonderful atmosphere inside a former church, great live music, super tasty food and nice service! We came here on a Monday evening without a reservation and were lucky to get a table. The selection of local beers is good, the menu features bar food classics. I chose Fish and Chips and loved it. The batter was crispy and the size of the portion huge. I would definitely come here again, especially if you want a bit of a quieter place than the classic tourist spots.

An iconic bar in Dublin from a old church. Has definitely style to get some drinks with colleagues or friends. The gin is good and even have decent non alcoholic drinks. Prices are little high in my option

  • 4/5 Nadine R. 11 months ago on Google
This place’s interior is absolutely beautiful. Food is amazing. From the main dish to the dessert, it keeps getting tastier and beautiful. We were 6 to visit. However, you need to reserve in advance. We struggled to reserve for two consecutive days but eventually were able to book a table after. I would absolutely recommend it if you’re visiting Dublin. The waitress was super open and welcoming. Also, don’t expect it to be calm dining, there is always music and dancing happening on the ground floor. Price wise acceptable, we paid around 50€/person and each person had a drink, main dish and dessert.

  • 5/5 Emma H. 2 years ago on Google
What a gem! Their is always a queue here and with good reason so book your table. The food was delicious, but what made the meal for us was our server Leon. He was cheery, friendly, welcoming, attentive and polite! He knew what he was doing and how to treat us with respect. He even interacted with our toddler who thought he was the bees knees! I dine out 4/5 times a week, service in this city is shockingly bad since covid has hit and I get it staff are hard to come buy but not here! Excellent staff, excellent food, excellent ambiance. Thank you so much, we will be back again soon 🙂

One of the most interesting dining experiences ever. The restaurant/pub is located inside of an old church. The atmosphere is great, there is live Irish music and dancing Sunday to Thursday. The food is tasty and the service is great. Can truly recommend a visit here if you are in Dublin. If you want to be there for the live music and dances it’s best to book a table in advance as it can get crowded.

A gorgeous bar with a helpful and friendly staff, but I’m giving it one star because it falls far, far short during a pandemic. I dropped in for midweek dinner, and despite being almost empty all diners were seated together in one corner. No partitions between tables and less than one meter between myself and two other tables - I considered leaving and kicked myself afterwards for feeling too guilty to do this. Even if this just about squeezes into minimum government guidelines, it should do better when we now have several known clusters of infection coming from restaurants. It makes no sense not to spread people across the venue. If we don’t want more lockdowns everyone needs to up their game. Also, the food was disappointing: I ordered nachos which had some sort of fake-cheese squirt, and then a lame vegetarian pasta with a tomato sauce that tasted like it came from a jar. Lots of the food served around me looked good, so I could have made bad choices. I won’t be going back and unless you’re young enough not to have to worry about Covid, I say stay away.

Heard about this place from our airline gate attendant and found it was close to our hotel. We went in for drinks at the bar and my partner and I were immediately charmed by the atmosphere and the vibe of the place. We were so charmed we went for dinner the next night! The food was decent enough but you can honestly find similar for cheaper (check out the Mad Egg down the road!). The drinks are why I would recommend this place to people. The bartenders are super nice and showed skill in making drinks efficiently. The Church Martini and the Espresso martini were our choices but they all looked really good. This would be a great place to go for an after dinner drink before going to any of the pubs for a traditional Irish experience.

A beautiful, unique, historical venue in Dublin. The drinks are good and the food is delicious. The burger was one of the best I’ve had. The wife got the fish and chips which were pretty good, it came with a special sauce in addition to the tartar which was delicious. The beer was cold and the Bellini was refreshing.

Cool place, very nice staff and good atmosphere but my god does the food suck.. Ordered nachos and the cheese on top was disgusting, literally looked like fake cheese, it was a weird neon yellow/orange colour. also the calamari was terrible. Could have just gotten unlucky but i’ve had friends/family complain about the food before too, so it seems like they really need to up their game in that dept.

It's not just the delicious smoked salmon, thick brown, and Jameson's whiskeys as appetizers; it's the place. Untold sums restored the interior with stained glass windows, gleaming organ pipes, Christian inscriptions, and Hebrew - reportedly meaning Jehovah - directly above what would have been the alter to tell its history, all surrounding a sumptuous bar. The Church is a great place to visit.

I went to have lunch and the waiters service was amazing but the receptionist really rude, she keep cutting me when I try to ask something and when she asked something she reapet many times the question and when I finally reapet louder because she couldn't hear through my mask she said she was doing her job and I didn't have to say twice, what???? She asked me three to four times the same thing. Please hire people who has social skills, especially to reception customers. I had such a nice day before that, it really make me upset. Food: pulled pork sandwich too salty couldn't eat everything. Great nachos.

What a pleasant night being in this place in the heart of the city. Lovely traditional Irish ☘️ dance 💃🏼 and beautiful music 🎶 we could enjoy the moment! A must-visit bar for hangout and celebrate the joyful evening ☺️ The ambiance, the dinner and the band were absolutely impressive.
