Seriously not acceptable carry on! A building that appears to be close to abandoned and front desk staff that are not friendly, all resulting in a confusion as to why prices are so high when considering where you are entering, they should be lower than anywhere else!!! This place charges prices that the best private clinics for human and pets in Dublin don't. Vets are somehow friendly but that's about it. However, if you are paying insurance, you will very rarely if ever at all use it and this place offers no advice on that matter. Take your pet there if you have an emergency and are stuck but make sure to shop around before going there for bigger things and are not in a hurry. Every time I pass by or have been there I feel sorry for all the elderly that might be on a pension and have no income to spare; all their money is taken by this crowd!! I know stories where OAPs have spent close to €10K on a single pet with these people for illnesses where another vet would charge less than half! The only place in town where you call for an emergency and you are charged an arm and a leg are are made to wait a week or more for your pet to go in! Not cool nor is it compassionate!! Shop around and avoid completely if you can!

I found a badly injured seagull that was shrieking in pain from a broken wing. I called all the animal rescues and no one picked up the phone. I started calling local vets and Animal Welfare said they would either treat it or put it down humanely if I could bring it in. I was fully prepared to pay for it since I hate to see an animal suffer but they just said "leave it with us." If they show this much compassion for an injured seagull I'd absolutely trust them to show the utmost care for my pet.

I would like to start off with this review that for a long time in the beginning, I was very pleased with this veterinary practice. We have been going here every month for about 4 years now (not an exaggeration). My dog has had quite a few illnesses. He has Addison’s disease which requires monthly injections and daily steroids. He had pancreatitis, and he has kidney disease. The vets here were great, especially Ruth, who has been there for the major illnesses. She really did her best for him, and I would highly recommend you see her if you go to this vet clinic. However, over the last few years, this practice seems to be losing grip on standards, their quality of service is declining. Pricing inconsistencies, lack of communication and quite often the staff who answer the phone are not very helpful (I do acknowledge some of the staff are wonderful, very friendly, and helpful). Perhaps they have taken on too many clients and cannot handle the numbers, I'm not sure. All I can say is the quality has dropped significantly. What has really made my decision to leave was when my dog broke his leg badly. He was brought in at 11am, we were told they would do x-rays and call us in an hour. No communication whatsoever until WE call at 3pm. He is only getting an x ray NOW as (I quote) “‘We have had a few emergencies this morning and as your dog didn't seem to be in pain he hasn't been seen to yet.' (I told them his leg was broken, is that not an emergency?). He had a shattered elbow, it broke in 3 places. We are told we will have to pick him up in the evening and keep him over the weekend. They EMAIL references to see if a surgeon will see him but they do not know when they will hear back. he was also made to walk on his broken leg, and they tried to make him walk down a few stairs. That night is awful so we call around in the morning. Village Vets Cabra help us tremendously. We have never been to them, but the vet there did everything she could, she offered to keep him there overnight on strong pain meds, she called around and got us into Vet Specialists Ireland. After that there were a few other issues (mainly communication issues with prices) that really tipped us over the edge, and we finally moved vet and have been extremely happy with them even though they charge more. This vet is ok if you’re just going for routine reasons. But they sorely lack in communication. I would recommend going somewhere else.

Professional experience time and time again. Have used Animal Welfare Veterinary clinic for the past few years since getting our first dog in Dublin. Our vet Maria went over and above to ensure best outcome for our dog Marlo each time. Would trust them to look after him in any circumstances and found the level of care to be superior to any practice I've dealt with previously. If you're lucky enough to live nearby I couldn't recommend these guys enough.

Absolutely the worse clinic ever!!!! Don't go! Always so messy, service was obnoxious, very bad, extremely hard to communicate, always forgetting everything and rude. They pretend to be nice and sweet but all they want to do is to OVERCHARGE you whenever they get a chance. There are not professional. Also very bad strong, continues odor throughout!! Sickening! Every time!! Every encounter with them was extremely stressful.. I moved my pet to a different clinic and it is completely different story! Like millions times better! It is hard to move sometimes.. but you and your pet should not have to suffer because of the incompetent staff! If you are not happy you have a freedom to move - no matter how many years you are with them. Trust me there are way better vets and services out there! Good luck to you and your pet! You both deserve the best! 🍀👍

I brought my dog here for the last 12 years of her 15 year life. Over the years she’s been in many times (as my dog tended to be accident prone). Most recently we learned our dog had been diagnosed with an aggressive and painful cancer. Both of the doctors we worked with (Especially Dr Ruth) were so kind and thoughtful as they explained all the options and took all the time I needed to answer all of my questions. In the end we did end up needing to put our dog down and they were so caring and thoughtful through out the entire process. Since covid they have moved from walk in only to being able to schedule appointments online which is super helpful. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was because this is a very busy practice so sometimes it is hard to get someone on the phone. And the building itself could do with a refresh. But all in all the people are amazing. They won’t try to sell you on extra things you don’t need and they are no nonsense. All while being caring and responsive to your needs. Whenever we do get our next dog we’ll definitely be bringing them here.

The vets and nurses at the welfare clinic are incredibly attentive, caring and professional. We trust them completely, they are always cautious and thorough. They are patient with our rescue dog who has trust issues, and our senior dog who needs extra care and attention especially for procedures. The nurses are so lovely, calling to give us updates and easing our worries. Such a lovely group of veterinary professionals, thank you for everything you do!

I was naturally worried when I found a small lump on our 9 year old (otherwise very healthy cat). I really cannot express enough gratitude for the absolute kindness and patience Vet Paul had shown to me on phone this Saturday. He carefully explained the findings of the small lump to be a tumour, and put no pressure on me to make any decision whilst on the phone. I also want to commend the staff when i reached out by email just to follow up on. Our cat has been with this clinic since he was a kitten. Please continue this high level of care and communication , it has really made such a difference to making me feel less anxious about next steps for our Moe.

Cannot recommend this clinic more. I have been to a few clinics around Dublin and I wouldn’t trust anyone else with my pets health. The staff always listen and provide excellent care every time we visit!

I have just come to realise how bad this practice is. My dog has an extreme allergy. On a number of occasions my dog was prescribed apoquel, a very expensive medication, (117 euro a month). I rang the blue Cross unfortunately they couldn't take on my dog, but given my dogs weight and age they said 62 euro a month over 50 euro difference. I recently changed vets, much to my relief and my dogs. On another 2 occasion I was told my dog needed a skin scrap. This involves, so I was told knocking out my dog for the day and picking him up in the evening and drawing blood from his skin. On two occasions this cost 380 euro a go. My new vet done it two weeks ago with me holding my dog wide awake, no problem. This practice need to put animals before there huge profits. If anyone from the practice would like contact me about this review feel free. Ps my new vet has the decency to stay in contact with me to check in on how my dog is doing. Not "give me your money and good luck"

Horrible experience with cremation. You'd think a veterinary clinic chooses a reliable & trustworthy cremation service, not here. I got my boys ashes back WITHOUT A CERTIFICATE/NO IDENTIFICATION NUMBER. That alone should ring alarm bells. Then, I got a small handwritten note with it (no ID number) with ANOTHER PETS NAME. Like this is not enough, the ashes were BLACK. My boy was albino white, all his brothers ashes were white. A simple Google search informed me that black ashes indicate 'the cremation has not been carried out properly and the regulations have been breached'. Disgusting practice, I waited 6 weeks for his ashes to be most likely not even his. This is the most disgusting thing to do to a grieving pet owner. They also didn't call me to tell me 'his' ashes have arrived. Please do not cremate your pet through them, if that situation happens, do everything to go somewhere else.

Excellent vets! Was looking for a vet clinic after returning from abroad. So glad I found this vets with kind and professional staff. They take the time to explain what going on with your dog, give you options for treatment, I know my dog and I are in the best hands. Feel they are very fairly priced also.

The team was very patient and accommodating. We had a very sick cat although we didn't know it, and they did everything they could to keep him well and us informed, and transferred him for more emergent treatment. In particular, Ruth was absolutely wonderful! She took the time to speak with both my husband and me although there was the pandemic so there was minimal space indoors etc to keep everyone safe. She answered all questions. She thought of immediate and future treatment options. She gracefully discussed everything in both layman's terms and medical jargon since my husband and I have different backgrounds. She clearly cared for our little guy. She went above and beyond in anticipation of the weekend and her being off in the near future, to ensure our cat would be well taken care of. Absolutely wonderful team! They didn't have the resources to treat our emergency, so we're very open about it and suggested options etc, and made sure we were part of the decision making and could get our cat the treatment he needed. He is doing much better! Thank you!

If you keep your animal safe dont go there. They even hurt my puppy’s neck during collecting the blood sample. They entered wrong information on rabies titer test, they dont follow any process or dont Care. I am sharing this publicly becuase I dont want anyone or any animal experienced the same thing that we faced with due to this clinic.

I never felt so ripping off 54 euro for talking to a vet for 10 mins about my cat. Have spent almost 1000 euro in less than a year with this vet and cat is not any better. They are a prime example of rip off Ireland.

We've been bringing our family dogs here for 20+ years. We've moved further away and tried a few local clinics but always return. The service is second to none, and you can always trust their advice

The Vets are so well informed and kind. And the staff on reception are always welcoming. They're patient and give great, informed advice. I do wish they remembered us, as I've been bringing my lil man a couple of times a year for 6 years, but I understand they have lots of patients. Highly recommend.

Stay well away. I think they’re so, so overpriced. More importantly, I couldn't be more disgusted with how they handled my dog. He was 18 months old and went in with a mild illness. He came out in an absolute state. After being told he was ready for discharge, the dog was collected and couldn't walk, howled in pain outside their front door, and threw himself down. Within a few hours we had to rush him for emergency care, then on to specialist care where he stayed for a month. He had multiple surgeries to save both his life and limb and it cost me thousands. NEVER AGAIN. Honestly, go elsewhere.

We were on holiday in Dublin when our Shorkie, Woody fell ill. He was not eating and was sleeping much more than normal. We scheduled an appointment with his vet back home as we were returning the very next day. Within the hour his condition seemed to worsen so we searched for a vet nearby and found Animal Welfare Veterinary Clinic. They took us in on very short notice and were able to test, diagnose, and treat Woody immediately. Unfortunately, he does need surgery when we return home, but the medication they gave him made him comfortable and allowed him to feel good enough to eat. It was such a relief to know exactly what was wrong with him. The staff was amazing, friendly, and professional. We could not be more pleased with our experience here.

I had to let my Jeremy go, the patience, understanding and compassion shown was unfathomable. I'm so grateful that he went to sleep peacefully because of the beautiful vets that helped make it so. My heart is still broken 💔 but this journey was made with the help of these guys. Thankyou from the bottom of my heart ❤️ 💙💙💙💙

What an amazing clinic and staff! I just dropped a call today as a kitten has been missing since a couple of days and Katie immediately created a poster with pictures I sent to help find him. Very great clinic, I'll keep that clinic definitely in mind to promote it! THANK YOU

Took a Seagull today from me that was perched in the middle of the road in Crumlin being abused with an onslaught of bottles from teenagers. Seemed very professional and knowledgeable. Examined him immediately and noted there was no immediate injury. Colin the Seagull lives on 🫡 Thanks guys
