Overall a good place to try dim sum. Pretty much HK-style. Only one item I tried not taste so much as it should taste - wontons. Taste kinda ok but not real taste as wontons. It operates like a fast food style with limited choices on dim sum but it’s still good in general. Beware there is surcharge on weekend.

One of the best DimSum in Melbourne!! What a perfect day to have Tim Ho Wan🥟💕 First time tried their Chicken Rice!🐣 And out of my expectations!! So goodd!!! The chicken are so tender and the portions just perfect 👌🏻🎉 Their SiuMai is unquestionably good! Always being my repeat order here! 💕 Also their Prawn Fried Bean Curd! 🦐 so flavorful but a bit greasy 😄 🌟 3,8/5

Overall is excellent experience, great place to having bunch. Foods are great as it should be, however some dishes have light flavor. I recommend to order hot Chinese tea together with your dishes. Customer service is good but a bit slow when I asked for refilling my tea. Weekend need to pay extra 10%.

Let's start with the price wasn't cheap compared to the other Yum Cha place in the area. Waiter are rude and not approachable, either they try to ignore us when we raise our hand or they are just partially blinds (excuses me). We pay extra on public holiday, surely the waiter/ress get penalty so what with the bitter face? Very hard to get their attention and when when get it they just giving us plain annoying look. Order via apps, The food was horrible, bring your money somewhere else near by. Plus we get tinny tiny FEATHER on our food. Can't be bothered to tell the waiter about it (as I mention they are not approachable). It's not what they use to be anymore. Shame on you Tim Ho Wan Melbourne.

The service at Tim Ho Wan is really fast! Once you've placed your order, your food comes out fresh & hot! The food was super tasty. I think this is the best Yum Cha I've had in a long time! The restaurant is well presented, & very clean.

High quality dim sum, consistent throughout the years. BBQ pork bun is an absolute standout with its crispy, caramelised skin and sweet, sticky BBQ pork filling. May be a bit sweet for some but I can’t get enough of it. Service is extremely quick. Not particularly friendly but very quick (which is not a bad compromise in my opinion). The only letdown is their spicy bean sauce. Just doesn’t really go with dim sum.

Good cheap place to eat all day yumcha at, the bbq pork buns were really good and reminded me of Japanese melon pan. The egg tarts were also nice and warm but the other dishes were mediocre. Good experience nonetheless at a Michelin star yumcha restaurant.

As one who had visited Tim Ho Wan in a few countries, I'd say their food is pretty much consistently fantastic. The Chee Cheong Fun was a bit "funny" though, because it is ridiculously thicker than the original, likely because otherwise it will be too challenging for locals.

This was the first time my partner had a yum cha and what better way to experience it than in the famous Tim Ho Wan! We shared quite a few dishes like prawn dumplings, beef balls, chicken wonton noodles, slow-cooked beef soup, vermicelli roll with prawns, and more. Of course we had to end it with egg tarts for dessert 😋 It was a lovely feast for sure, a bit pricey but everything was delicious so worth to try at least once or twice (or more hehe) 🙊

We have been here years before the pandemic, so recently, we came to have our yum cha. It was not that full yet at 11.45 am on a Saturday, so we got a table quickly. This restaurant is not the typical yumcha pl5ace where the cart ladies pushed out their trollies. You order from an online menu for what you want, and you can actually see how much you are spending. This is not unlike the trolley ones where you tend to order too much and miss out on what you want. The food was delicious and just enough for the three of us. We ordered the century egg porridge, prawn and pork dumplings, mushroom and chicken noodles, fried prawn beancurn, and fried carrot cake. The variety may not be as good as the others, but it was enough for us. We enjoyed the food very much and will definitely be back.

The dining experience at this particular establishment was unfortunately quite underwhelming. Despite the average quality of the food, what truly stood out was the demeanor of the servers—they all seemed to possess an unwavering poker face. It felt as if communication with them was akin to attempting a conversation with statues. Surprisingly, it wasn't a case of them being unable to speak or communicating solely via sign language; rather, it appeared they simply had no inclination to speak a word with the customers. Instead, they seemed content to engage in lively conversations amongst themselves.

The fried XOXO reddish cake was delectable, it smelled so good and tasted even better. The glutinous rice wrapped in lotus leaf was alright, average because there’s not a lot of filling inside. Overall a good place to have dim sum, could see a variety to choose from. Will come back to try those next time!

if only they still had their vermicelli rolls (rice noodle rolls! cheong fun 肠粉)! visited specifically for this dish but were told ordering was through their website and the dish wasn’t on the menu! the hk style egg tart hit all the right marks for a butter short crust egg tart - the tart pastry could have benefited from a minute or so less in the oven- otherwise really good. the charcoal salted egg yolk steamed bun was surprisingly good- the bun itself was soo fluffy moist and spongy! the filling not too sweet and would be a hit with fans of savoury -sweet deserts ( salted egg was the star in the filling). bring back the cheong fun please!! (ps don’t select ‘wait for call’ when ordering or you may spend the night following up on your order).

I am speechless. The best BBQ Buns in my entire life so far. Salt and sweet blended so well in your mouth. Chicken feet and radish cake was also good staple food. Fast service.

Can't believe I haven't reviewed this place before. Been at least dozen times over the years. The place is perfect. Food is always up to the standard so no matter how many times you revisit you won't be disappointed. Staff are slightly abrupt but not rude. Food sometimes comes out too quickly... yes I know imagine complaining about that... but if you are looking to enjoy your food slowly, maybe order in 2 batches.

Would definitely recommend the chilli one of the best chillis i eaten. As to the food the baked bun with bbq pork is a must and the prawn and chive dumpkings taste like a fancy wonton. But definitely stay away from the congee with seafood as the congee is more like watery soup than congee.

Food was good and the servings seems quite tiny in my opinion. Their Baked Pork Buns is so good. Just as good as in HK. The Egg Fried Rice was bland and the Beef Offal had too much liver and less tripe so both were a let down. The Vermicelli Rolls were tasty especially the BBQ Pork.

Excellent yum cha food. Full of flavour and excellent presentation on the dishes. The reviews for this place are confusing and shouldn't be looked at. If you want a yum cha chinese food experience, this is a place to go. However, the staff are a bit... silent? They just exist and don't really interact, describe, or mention anything. Maybe that by choice to just keep pushing out food and cleaning, but a friendly smile or even saying enjoy your food goes a long way to the experience.

Been here a few times. Usually get a few dim sums. What is new is the HK pork chop bake rice. I find this bake rice super good. Avoid the prawn paste fried chineae donut, this is sloooooow oily and the donut is rock hard.

The food and dim sum seemed to made with quality ingredients, and weren’t too salty compared to most other yum cha restaurants. Famous for its BBQ pork buns which were light, crispy and quite sweet. The service was pretty average, but about right for a yum cha restaurant. Overall I don’t think you’ll be disappointed, but won’t be blown away either.

Wished I came to reviews after reading blogs. Blogs were overrated. Was hoping for better. Everything had way too much sauce, food colouring, everything was too sweet, and choice of food were limited for dim sum. Was surprised the lotus leaf wrapped rice had bright red food colouring in the pork and it was massive chunks where it was dry and felt like the wrong part of the meat.

We are crazy about THW, please open a shop in Brisbane soon! Their baked BBQ pork buns are to die for. We take away many frozen to reheat and eat back home. Other dishes are decent too, rice roll, carrot cake, egg tarts, chicken feet. Comfort dim sum place.

Seating are spacious and pram/children friendly. The portions are small, but would come here the convience/location and cleaniness & if you have a quick craving for dim sums. Would recommend the pork rib with black bean sauce rice along with the vermicelli roll w/shrimp.

Bbq pork bun was excellent. Radish cake was good. However, the fried glutinous rice with peppered chicken was terrible - it was dripping in oil! Milk tea was great. Service is basically Asian style (not much at all). Pricing is a bit on the expensive side considering it is Chinese food.

The first time I went to Tim Ho Wan was back in 2011 when I was in Hong Kong. Honestly speaking , I was a bit unsure whether this one will be as good. It turned out to be a very nice experience and I absolutely loved the food here.

Classic Tim Ho Wan. Good food and consistent. Fast service and food comes out quick. Delicious yum cha dishes from Hong Kong that satisfy your craving. The classics to try are: - Shrimp Dumpling - Pork Dumpling with Shrimp - Braised Duck Feet - Vermicelli Roll - Turnip Cake - Steamed Egg Cake - BBQ Pork Bun

This is my second time visiting Tim Ho Wan and sadly it just doesn’t live up to its hype. It’s still just an okay yum cha. Some dishes tasted like pre-made frozen food (i.e. shrimp dumpling). Not a fan of the weirder dishes they offer. They’re positive is that they are open late for dinner. Normally a line during afternoons. Easier to get a table for dinner. 15% holiday/weekend surcharge. Ordered: • Vermicelli roll with Chinese donut ($10.50) 8/10 • Vermicelli roll with shrimp ($10.50) 6/10 • Steam pork and button mushroom with black bean sauce ($9.40) 6.5/10 • Prawn dumpling ($10.50) 6/10 • Beancurd skin roll with pork and shrimp ($8.50) 7/10 • Fried Beancurd skin roll with shrimp ($8.80) 7/10 • Wasabi salad prawn dumpling ($9.30) 6/10 • Congee with seafood ($10.80) 6/10 • Hong Kong milk tea ($4.50) 7/10 Pricing is pretty standard compared to other yum cha restaurants. Proportions are slightly smaller. Standard, quick service. Plenty of seating, especially after they revamped the restaurant.

The food here is fresh and delicious. We ordered the main yum cha spread. Generous portions for the price. The signature dish and our highlight was the baked BBQ pork buns. Fast friendly service, easy order using QR. Definitely recommend for anyone craving quick yum cha.

Tim Ho Wan always has the best pork buns, just the right amount of sweet and savory. I enjoyed everything that we’ve tried (chicken mushroom rice, beef brisket noodles, spicy radish cake, prawn vermicelli rolls). Keen to go back!

  • 3/5 Brian Y. 11 months ago on Google
The BBQ park bun and the classic egg tarts were the only highlights. Nothing special for the other dishes. They tasted good but not wow.

Came to eat again after the renovation, the interior looks so much better. The food is excellent, except for the ribs sadly. Our favourite was the BBQ buns! Always order one to take away for my parents to have at home. Portions are small but filling ☺️

There are only a few dumpling options, but nice taste and texture. I did not enjoy the charcoal bun. The custard inside was grainy and clumpy and tasted of flour. Ordering was easy with QR codes on each table. Portion sizes are very reasonable for people dining alone.
