We had a lovely time at Shoppingtown hotel tonight. We had a large group booking and Simon and the team ensured the service was excellent. Our guests enjoyed the food and drinks and the kids particularly had fun in the play area. Too easy and very enjoyable.

Amazing service . Food was fresh ,hot and served quickly. Luke, the manager on, was attentive to all our needs and my group will not hesitate to make our next catch up at the Shoppingtown Hotel again. 5/5 well done Luke and kitchen staff,bar and team.

Good atmosphere service of food slow waited over 40 minutes for our mains,steak was overcooked was supposed to medium rare was more well done . Salmon was delicious. Overall happy would consider going back.

Absolutely love this place. Customer service is awesome and we’re always looked after so well. The food is amazing but do wish more options were available.

Relaxing casual place and great for kids. Food is good for what you pay and I've never left hungry. Ordered the chefs special scotch fillet on the last visit and it was quite chewy but tasty. Steaks in general seem to be hit and miss these days even at the best of places.

Reviewing the food at the bistro. Had the steak sandwich, it was fantastic value and tasty. But a lot of food. Rather than regular toasted sliced bread it was in a Turkish styled bread. Good but too filling for me. The steak was fully cooked, would have preferred a bit of pink. But can't complain. Chips were crunchy and well cooked. Well priced too. Others enjoyed their meal. The beef cheek special was tender. Service was attentive. Clear view of the city.

Nice place for gatherings. Steak was cooked nicely. Carbonara was a bit heavy. Less cream would have been better. Calamari needs to be fried for a tad longer. Good service size. Excellent service.

Can only comment about the lunch experience I had at the bistro last Saturday afternoon. Got the rump steak cooked medium. Was OK - didn’t disappoint but didn’t blow my mind. That cut was the cheapest on offer at 30 dollars, they’ve got porterhouse and one more which I can’t remember that goes up to around 40. The bistro has some nice tall windows which gives the place a lot of natural lighting and a good view out to the city if you managed to score some seating near there. Ample space if you’ve got a big group or kids that like to roam around. Coffee was alright. Service would sit on the tail end of an “average rating.” The staff would do what you ask them to do, but don’t expect them to be overly attentive.

A brilliant hotel close to the city that offers accommodation with tremendous views from the balconies. The staff are extremely helpful. The food an drink range is on a par with some more expensive hotels, very acceptable. Part of the hotel is devoted to a gambling agency if that is your preference. The live music venue on site has seen many top rate musicians play there. The musicians playing during our stay was what really drew us there. Very pleasantly surprised by the the whole experience 😎

We had 2 birthday party for our 2 sons here. A great place and close to home. Marie was the staff helping us for the whole morning today again. She is super nice and helpful lady. Hard working and thoughtful. She took care almost everyone of us, 18 kids and almost 16 adults. From pumping the balloon, room decorations, and serving the food.... Can't thank enough to Marie. We had a function at the bistro, I can’t thank the staff enough for their amazing efforts! They were so professional, friendly, polite and so accommodating! A massive shout out to Luke who accommodated all my requests, Chrystal who took our order and got everything perfect (large group of 30), TJ and Will for fantastic service. The chefs got every single order correct and it was all delicious. What a great team! We will definitely be back xx

We loved staying here it was close to places we needed to go to staff were so outgoing and pleasant to talk to I think it was the manager of the place had excellent customer service as did the check in lady rooms were clean all I suggest if you don't like too much noise try not to stay when they have an event on our food was also really really good hats off to the chef very clean in bistro and gaming lounge thanks for a great couple of nights we will be back and do recommend this place to stay or just for the bistro

Cannot honestly talk about the rooms because I haven't used them although in photos they look awesome. The service and location are just great and welcome. Caught up here with some mates for dinner meeting and the service was great. The views from the windows looking up on the city are simply amazing and the phone photos won't do it justice. Will surely return specially with the family.

First impressions of this hotel are it needs a face lift! Very old and very tired! The thing it has going for it is the view of the city, spectacular! Service was terrible had to wait 5 minutes untill someone came and took or lunch order and the same when I went to get a drink. This place could be so much more if it had some money and love put back into it!

Bistro was lovely. The staff is friendly, great atmosphere and great food. After dinner went to see the 80s band playing there, the music was amazing, bar staff a little grumpy though. Staff at the door entry were amazing both on entry and exit. It's a great fun night if you see a band there.

Very nice ambiance with very good service and food was O K. Used the rear Terrace area which was nice with a beautiful view to across the Melbourne skyline. Easy parking out back. Would be really nice for a party of friends on a nice day for lunch.

Great Seniors meal, very good serve of fish and chips with salad $18. Wait staff not overly friendly but I would definitely go again

We have been to the bistro on a regular basis but on the last 2 occasions, I have been extremely disappointed with my main meal. I ordered the chicken stir fry both times and both times it was full of large chunks of disgusting chicken pieces full of gristle and not cooked properly. It was not edible and looked as though it had been scraped out of a scraps bin. I mentioned it to the waitress who also agreed that it looked terrible and was definitely not edible. I was not offered any compensation nor an apology. … not impressed considering the cost of the dish.

Booked a table for a group of 8 people in person one day before the occasion. Surprisingly they didn’t have us on the list when our guests arrived although I had the confirmation text. I didn’t like the way they treated us. No sympathy, no recognition of their responsibility. Not a good job in handling the situation, Mr. Simon. We have spent the night somewhere else at the end, and I am not recommending there anymore.

We went for a function the hotel in the evening. Prior to the function we had dinner at the beer garden. However during the meal the staff member spilled beer on one of the ladies dress. Staff member asked - do you want tissues. She then provided tissues but never cleaned the spilled beer on seats, bench. Also no proper apology. We also had to go and get cutleries, salt and pepper during our meal. Poor service but food was good

Travelled to Melbourne for work. Decided on Doncaster accommodation so Nightcap at Shoppingtown Hotel looked like a good choice. Booked directly & got great service from Laura & acommodation manager. The room was a great with everything needed for business travel. Good choice of dining & bar options on site with great meal choices. Complimentry breakfast packs were handy for early morning starts.

Use to love this place for an impromptu dinner out with the kids. The interesting meal variety has disappeared and food quality has significantly dropped since we last visited. View is amazing. Service was lacking when trying to get a table.

I really enjoyed the show with Normie Rowe and Denise Drysdale - they really performed well and we were impressed once again (we'd seen Normie Rowe once before a few years back and had been surprised by how good he was!) with how good the event was. The booking and queue in was well handled (booking was flawless, people minding the queue helpful) . The food was ordinary, and Seniors style, but I didn't go for the food and I was glad it wasn't huge as I don't want a big meal for lunch! I was able to swap my lasagne for chicken so I was happy!

The food was fine, however the service was not good at all. The meals didn’t come out at the same time, which is expected, but people were finished their main meals before kids meals came out. After asking about the food that had not yet come out, the waiter went and got the food for us that had obviously been sitting out for ages, and was not even warm. Unfortunately this isn’t the first time when the service has been bad here.

The Normie & Denise show was fabulous. Please bring them back in the near future. Service , organisation and food was terrific. A special thanks to Mary for her kindness, efficiency and for being most helpful in every way.

This was an appalling experience. First sent to wrong table, then the group who were sitting at our table told to move. Two of our party finished their meals over an hour before anyone else was served. Entrees came after the person who had ordered was half way through their meal. Food was very bad according to most of the people. Unimpressed by fact we complained and not worth the two hour wait. One of the group is still waiting after 2.5 hrs. An apology would have been welcomed. Will be sure to let people know.

We had our engagement party in the Garden Bar over the weekend. Lauren the events manager was amazing from day 1. Always quick to respond and provide clear information. The night went smoothly, and the bar staff were incredible - always keeping a drink in my hand and keeping us updated on the tab. Thank you so much!

It’s fantastic having such a great pub near to home. Staff are fantastic and food is great. I’ve now been there several times and have had some functions there and have never had a bad experience. I recommend this hotel whenever asked.

The service is good. The staff are friendly. Vaccination certificates are checked which provides assurance to public health. The food was delicious but at times inconsistent, possibly due to different chefs? The roast pumpkin and feta salad was amazing one week but average on a recent occasion. I really enjoyed the fish tacos and the pumpkin and coconut curry with chicken. They're my favourite two dishes on the menu. The ambience is family friendly and I was also impressed that I was not charged for soda water. I also like the fact that you can order via the online menu accessible from QR code at your table.

My personal opinion is I expected a lot better, I felt it was just like 1970's have to have club food. Thought I was on a time warp. Quality base food but presented badly just thrown on plate, no sauces or visual enhancement, very very small servings. All the salt shakers empty I think it's time for new kitchen management and training. Great potential

Sunday must be Bludge day if your in charge of running this place pick up your game. No one there to order twice within 10 minutes 50 minutes to get food. Food was pretty nice my parma was slightly small.

We have met at the Shoppingtown Hotel several times for a family catch-up. The location is central to all and the bistro has been perfect. Was very disappointed today. The quality of the food has gone downhill and there are no gluten free options as they don’t have a gluten free kitchen. That is inexcusable in these days. We won’t be able to return there again as one of our family is unable to eat. That was bad enough but like I said the food quality has deteriorated. Not good enough.

We had a lovel Christmas lunch on the 26th of December. It was also a birthday lunch. Food was great. Venue very lovely. Fabulous views of Melbourne City from the windows. Friendy staff. Beautiful building. Lot to offer it's patrons. Service very good.

A big Thank You to Zoe and team for excellent service at our Awards & Christmas Party on the weekend. The team was friendly and accommodating, and everything ran smoothly. The buffet and desserts were excellent, thanks to head chef Max.

Went once at the end of lockdown. Venue mostly observed covid safe procedures. Excellent drink specials. Margherita pizza and Parma are both great. Staff mostly great.

Always a good special on in the sports bar here. Well-made and good value pub classics on the menu, friendly staff as well. The lads and I love getting on the sesh here.

Enjoyed Christmas Day lunch 2022, thanks to Raj and the most efficient Mary. Thankyou. Food was a plentiful display but chefs who should know better, must watch for the drying out of the pork and the steamed fish. Both firm and no flavour, a shame. That was the only disappointment. A welcome and happy lunch spent there. Keep up the great work but don't compromise on how the food should be cooked. Very friendly food preparation staff, keeping vigil.

Absolutely disappointing. Meals took an hour to come to table - in fact my daughters dessert arrived before her main. My mother in law’s meal came 10 minutes after everybody else’s. The eye fillet was tiny and so over cooked (we ordered medium) we ended up taking it home fir our dog. chips and calamari were cold. Will not be returning.

2 hours waiting for food is ridiculous. Had two members of the table receive their meals 1 hour before everyone else. Even entrees didn’t make it out until after all the mains had finally been served. Multiple other tables were experiencing the same wait times, no apologies at all from management.

What a terrible place!! Staff are untrained and not only rude, they tell lies! Speaking to the untrained dismissive managers is worse. Staff in gaming room are exceptionally bad. Sports bar unattended for vast periods of time. Don't bother. These clowns seem to have no idea that hospitality is a competitive game. Go elsewhere and tell your friends.

Enjoyed a lovely dinner at Shoppingtown Hotel and am proud to call it our local. On the night of our visit Simon was the Manager and was exceptional as always. However, what I enjoy most about this venue besides the food, is that whenever you visit the staff are always smiling, happy, obliging and welcoming.

We have visited the bistro numerous times before & have had really positive experiences, until tonight. Made a booking for 6.30pm & ordered our meals at 6.45. Both my wife & myself ordered steaks ( one Medium & one Medium Rare.) 7.30pm & still no meal. Patrons are coming in long after us & are receiving their meals before us. I asked one of the staff members why our order is taking so long, to be told that they lost our order,but no one approached us to tell us. 8pm our meals finally arrive (75 minutes after ordering.) The steaks were dry & bland that we didn't finish. Very very disappointed with the service & probably won't be returning.

It is normally pretty good on weekday but a bit chaotic at the weekend. We order the food via an app with QR code on the table which is good especially during covid time but th food didn’t come for almost more than 30min for the 5 of us. The cooked side vegetables was undercook with the cauliflower and broccoli so hard that it was tricky to cut. I am sure the quality is a lot better during other times when it is not busy. So I am going to avoid eating there at weekends.

I think this hotel has changed hands. It's not as clean as it used to be. The toilets needed a good clean around the dryers and entry door. The loos them selves were clean but the surrounds not so much. Where we sitting, the back behind the bench seat was dirty, finger marks etc. The meals were delicious but took awhile to arrive after ordering.

Great place for a good meal & good atmosphere. Service is normally good but timing on delivery of meal is not consistent… some days it can take a while. On the whole it’s a great place for family get-together & catching up with friends.

Been coming here for a couple years and always found the meals to be good. However, TJ is far more personable than the regular manager. Seems to enjoy his job and appears to relate to the staff.

A very inviting pub, great staff, good food at reasonable prices, well set out for amazingviews across to city of Melbourne. And excellent parking. We liked it so much we have been back 6 or7 times. Not restaurant class, but very good upper pub class. Recommend.

Beautiful setting with city views and open fire place. The outside courtyard is really lovely too. Interesting menu to suit everyone. High quality fresh ingredients and vegetables unlike other local hotels which serve frozen peas and corn mix. Play area is small but adequate, Would be great if they opened up the kids party room for more activities and games on busy nights. More staff needed at cashier on Fri - Sun nights to prevent long wait in the cue. Overall, excellent. Highly recommend

Five stars for the entree and main in quality and service, but one star for the dessert. After asking three people and waiting more than 30 minutes the dessert came. It was only a small piece of cake so it could of come with the main meal.

Stayed here with the missus to see a show they were hosting in their Cabaret room. The room was clean and comfortable, loved that we had a little balcony at the back of our room. The Restaurant was very popular and we got 10% off meals through our reservation, we got two free drinks at the bar too! The view from their Beer garden of the city lights was magnificent as the sun was setting, very picturesque, my photo doesn't do justice at all to how good it was! No criticism at all for these guys, the price per night was very reasonable in out opinion too.

Booked a table for 10 near the window with high chair. Was given a table for 8 near the playground, no high chair. Meals were not delivered together, minimum wait from ordering was 90 minutes. No plates cleared, needed to ask for kids and pre ordered deserts. Staff were friendly. If you do not have enough staff, close some tables!

Came here for a meal for my mums Birthday and I could not be happier. Very happy and quick staff members. Very clean. Very very good food. And extremely good prices too. Extremely satisfied and will be coming back for sure!

I was one of the very regular customers at this shopping town hotel until we came across “Casey”the manager, we would never go back to this place because of her rude and unprofessional behaviour towards us, she was using abusive language when talking to us, she was insulting us when no one actually was under influence of alcohol. We are taking this matter further. I realised that she is talking to few other people in the same manner. If you are reading this message, you better know that there are many nice pubs and restaurants around the same area that employs more professional staff members and have much better customer service and also better food. It’s a waste to spend a cent in this place.

Booked dinner in the Bistro with my family not realising it was the night of the Matildas quarter final match with France. I requested a table away from the kids area, which we go, thank you. Great table with perfect views of the game on various TV's. The atmosphere was electric and we enjoyed it immensely. I had the grilled salmon and it was the best I've had in a pub, cooked perfectly. The staff worked very hard as it was very busy, they were all super friendly and helpful. I also had a soy latte which was the best I've had in a pub. Would definitely recommend 👌

We wish to thank Zoe and the staff for assisting our son’s 21st to be a successful and memorable night. They were always pleasant and accommodating to our requests. Especially being able to have access to the room well in advance of the function time which allowed us to put decorations up and being able to come in the next day to take them down. Our function was held in the Galaxy Room which is a great space with a mix of indoor and outdoor. Guests also enjoyed all the canapés selected, but especially the delicious hamburgers which were from the gourmet menu. Many thanks again. Xx

Booked my work Christmas party with Zoe the functions manager and had the most amazing and seamless experience! The catering was delicious & the venue was decorated beautifully :) Hoping to come back again next year, would highly recommend!

Gathering of 24 people aged 18 months to mid-70s for 3 presentations over 5 hours. Ample secluded parking for guests’ cars was available adjacent to the meeting space. All equipment in the Galaxy Room was reliable; plentiful delicious savoury & dessert foods (catering for allergies) was delivered on time. Adjacent indoor and easily monitored outdoor spaces catered for the young and any disengaged people. Event manager Zoe oversaw all aspects of planning leading up to and on the day in a warm and friendly manner, coped with a coffee machine breakdown during the event, and ensured coffee, refreshments and such were provided during all breaks. Attendees expressed great satisfaction with the experience at this venue.

We had an amazing birthday party today! The party host was incredibly helpful, ensuring everything ran smoothly and catered for food allergies. The magician organized by the hotel was fantastic and tailored the performance perfectly for the age group. We had so much fun, and it truly made the day special. Thank you for the wonderful experience!

I wish to thank Zoe for her exceptional service. We booked the Garden Bar for my dad's birthday and would definitely book it again for another event. The bar staff were amazing and friendly, the food was good, with compliments from guests regarding the spring rolls, the mac and cheese croquettes and the mushroom arancini. Everyone had a fantastic time and loved the venue. It was perfect for what we needed. We were able to arrive early to set up decorations and time after to pack up. Zoe was great leading up to the event and answering all my emails and many questions. Thank you again to Zoe and Emily for a wonderful night.
