Lovely wide open spaces, well kept shared pathways that make it easy to cycle with small kids and stop for a picnic anywhere. Great bushy sections along the Yarra to explore and sight see

Candlebark park is just after the bridge that goes across the river from the eltham mini railway area and is on the way to westerfolds park. You can find some bike trails spread out around here and open spaces. Nice little area just before going under the bridge.

Edit Feb 2022. Still brilliant. Can't talk it up enough. Brilliant. This place makes me wish I was a bit more picky with my ratings to make the 5 stars mean more. Great riding trails for beginners or ideally maybe a bit better than beginners. Trails are interesting, typically not too busy and hikers are rare. Almost always see kangaroos and a wombat once. I'm not one, but assume intermediate riders would find it pleasant riding but not challenging, better off at Lysterfield or the jumps behind Beasleys if you don't want to travel.

Went for the MTB routes which are made by Joe Public and got terribly lost :-) Trails are two way which could cause problems on weekends. I would strongly recommend having a good, detailed, high resolution map and go anti-clock-wise.

Easy Green around the Yarra and MTB blue level trails around the mountain for intermediate level riding. Be careful with bikes riding in different directions. I prefer riding clockwise starting from the left side of the mountain working your way around. Some good fire tracks to ride up and zoom down to save potentially running into someone heading down.
