This is the best fish and chip shop in Richmond!! Huge servings, super fresh fish and tasty salads. Always busy, as they are really good. Food isn’t greasy, have never been disappointed. Good amount of dining tables inside, which are usually full. Nice place also for outdoor casual street dining. Highly recommended.🐟

Hunky Dory Richmond has a great location with good seating options inside and outside in the sun overlooking a vibrant Swan Street. Service here is friendly although not overly attentive or quick. Food menu has all the normal Hunky Dory options which caters for everyone. Food here didn't seem that fresh or high quality and was served Luke warm which is disappointing. I've experienced Hunky Dory at other locations and this was not near the standard of others. It's ok, but there are much better options close by.

Would have given it a perfect score except for the Calamari rings, which were not good. Fish was perfect. Crunchy batter, tender, and juicy fish, which was nice and thick. The best potato cake I have had in ages. Was superb. The chips were excellent, too. 👌

Not bad but not good enough, relied too much on salt for flavour and I found it a bit overwhelming. I can add salt, but I can’t take it away. Also the beer choices were rubbish.

Enjoyed our grilled seafood, chips and salad. Fresh grilled barramundi was so good. We had friendly and helpful service.

Good service. Food came out quick. Cooked well, but fish portions were a bit small.

My wife and I have just received an order from here and oh golly.... the chips, fish and potato cake have been cooked for so long they are a very brown burnt colour and rock hard. When you break them in half they SNAP - they have been cooked for so long the potato is actually missing from the chips, the white fluffy stuff is gone. the potato cakes were a dark burnt brown on one side and on the other side a lovely golden colour (they way it should be). I'm so confused by how bad it was as we have had good food from here before. The only saving grace is that when my wife drove back to complain and hand the food back, the person in the shop took responsibility and made the food again. I was absolutely going to give one star but given the response from staff it gets 2.

Although one of the smallest Hunky Dory stores I've been to, our dining experience wasn't compromised. Service and quality was as expected, and thoroughly enjoyed 😊

Solid dish of fish and chips. Nothing fancy, extremely fresh. The batter was light and crispy and the chips were lovely. Right amount of salt to bring out all the flavours. Fish was fresh and no funky smells. Service is quick and friendly. Extremely lovely lunch.

Friendly and fast service. Food, in all honesty, is good but not great. There are plenty of eateries in the area but Honky Dory is a good pick if you can’t decide.

The hoki fish was fresh (I usually don't eat fish and chips especially if its dory fish). We ordered 3 sets to be shared among 5. It was just nice and we caught the lunch deal of $10/set :)

Firstly, the service at Richmond was outstanding; it felt incredibly personal, and the server showed genuine care for us and our experience. They were exceptionally accommodating, even with a larger group and young children. Secondly, the food was both delicious and reasonably priced. Despite my personal dislike for seafood, I was delighted to find burgers on the menu, and they turned out to be amazing. My partner tried a seafood dish and thoroughly enjoyed it. They also had kids’ meals, offering fish bites or nuggets, which pleased the children in our group. Overall, everyone left with a very positive dining experience!

Had a wonderful time here. The fish was fried perfectly and the chips were just crunchy and had the right thickness. The grilled fish was delicious as well. The salad was fresh and really cleansed our palate. Super affordable price with such a nice atmosphere!

Firstly, the service at Richmond was impeccable, it felt really personal and we felt as though the server really cared about us and our experience. He was super accomodating for a larger bunch of people and with little kids. Secondly the food was delicious and really well priced. I dislike seafood and was happy to see burgers on the menu and the burger was amazing. My partner had some kind of fishy collection and thoroughly enjoyed it. They catered for the kids too with kids meals of either fish bites or nuggets. Everyone was very happy!

Food hit the spot, service at lunch time on Monday 18 July was excellent - the waitress recommended we get small chips rather than medium and she was right.

This place is really good. You can have seafood or whatever you want, but this time I avoided seafood and had a burger, chips and a sugar free coke. The service was great, the staff were great, I've eaten here before and I'll eat here again.

Food was delicious, customer service that is second to none. A big shout out to Kat who made our experience very enjoyable. Thank you to all the staff keep up the great work.

Alls I can say is, AMAZING!!!!! I came in today and ate a grilled seafood and salad with Greek salad and it was delicious! The girl at the register - Cat was absolutely amazing. She helped me with the menu and overall her customer service was so warming and welcoming!! The food came out quick and was very hot which was great! this brightened up my day! 100% I’m going back! Keep up the good work Hunky Dory Richmond :D

Really impressed by how good the fish and chips were here. Great value, large serving and really tasty. The battered fish didn't taste too oily, chips had the right amount of salt and crunch to it and calamari rings had the perfect amount of batter. Looking forward to coming back to try the other items on the menu.

Friday 5th Jan 2024. Arrived at the counter at 8.50pm on Friday evening and placed our orders for a takeaway meal. We were told by the young lady whose name was Alicia that they would be closing in 5 mins. We ordered the following: 2 Grilled packs of Blue Grenadier with rice and 2 Greek salads one without dressing. The perception we found with Alicia was very impatient as she was rushing us as she was wanting to finish her shift. We paid $35.00, and it was paid at 8.56pm. We waited outside as a few ppl were coming in and out and collecting their orders. We went back in around 9.10pm and a tall woman with long black hair who was wearing glasses from the kitchen, mentioned the name of the order and we collected it. On looking in the bag to check it Alicia asked the woman with the glasses can you mark the salad that has no dressing however we said don’t worry about it as we will check it when we get home. Upon arriving home we saw that one of the fillets was barely there and we were given left over scraps and was not a full fillet like the other one. Both meals didn’t come with rice, instead we got chips, and both Greek salads came with dressing added when we requested that we wanted one without dressing. We went back down straight away as we knew they wouldn’t answer the phone and approached Alicia who apologised for this happening. We told her that one should never serve leftover scraps of fish fillets to customers and the order was wrong and all we were wanting was a new fish fillet but the response was we can’t do that because the kitchen was closed. No refund or any other mean w management could be dealt with until there is a manager on shift for authorisation. We requested that the manager whose name we were given was Cat/Kat or Manoj that they would be in contact with us within a couple of days to deal with the situation by Sunday the latest. We did not hear anything from management whatsoever. Lip service is not good coming from a well known establishment, if you can’t follow through with what you say, then don’t mention it in the first place. We won’t be coming back, pictures enclosed.
