๐Ÿ˜  Worst emergency department I have ever been to. People were waiting more than 5 hours and no one even came to check them. Some of them were vomiting for 4 hours and no care. Our baby daughter 18M , had high temperature and giving her Panadol for 24h didnโ€™t help. We came to emergency 8PM and till 1AM... People often mention staff, hospital, nurses, hours, wait, care, emergency, doctors, waiting, time,

My experience at Maroondah Hospital was appalling. I understand it was very late but care and service should be provided. From the non interested person in the emergency department to the ABSOLUTELY rude and non informative person at the main reception left me in tears. We are NOT numbers we are human beings with feelings and are frightened that our loved one is in hospital. A little compassion, understanding and clarification of hospital processes would be greatly appreciated! I would like to leave no star rating but unable to post without one!

Avoid at all costs. The staff are terrible , no communication whatsoever , important medical information regarding patients whom are close family is ignored and not passed onto to doctors. Absolutely disgraceful on all aspects , even was told by one of the staff who i have known for a while and apparently the place has a reputation where people who go to this hospital are left to die. Extremely concerning considering Australia is supposedly a first class country. Disgusted with the place. Will never ever go there for any reason ever again. Worse still is our hospitals are in this state and yet the government think referendums regarding "voice" to parliment is worth wasting god knows how many millions of dollars on the whole farce.

I recently had covid and had to be taken to maroondah hospital by Ambulance. The ambulance attendants were Jo and Hayden. They where fabulous, calming and professional. When I arrived I had to stay for a few days. The medical staff at maroondah where great. The doctors answered all my questions and were very attentive, I felt cared about. The nursing staff in the next few days were great too. Emily, Meagan, Joh, Phoebe and Sophie. Phoebe in particular was my main nurse. I felt comfortable and well looked after. She was always friendly given the constant suiting up. I am thankful for my care and the hospital.

I went to this hospital yesterday and I had to wait close to 3 hours. I know though that it is not the hospitals fault directly as it is government funding that dictates the lack of staff. Unfortunately, it just seems like a social club in there with staff just chatting with each other about absolute irrelevant social stuff. It's almost like they drag their feet to really do anything productive. They were also condescending to a few other patients I saw in the hospital who did not deserve it. I guess nurses think that going to university requiring a mere 60% pass rate on some of the subjects given to them, means they are a cut above everyone else.

Disgusting negligence from this hospital that resulted in the death of my loved one. They left her OVERNIGHT after suffering a stroke without picking it up or giving her any medical attention after collapsing at home. Had to be spelt out to them that she was not okay for them to be like โ€˜oh okay better move her to another hospitalโ€™ Too late. She was left alone with no help and ended up passing away that week. You should all be ashamed of yourselves.

Terrible rude staff and canโ€™t speak to patients. Staff should be sacked for being rude to people. Triage nurse doesnโ€™t care about people in pain. I do not recommend this hospital. Shocking lack of duty of care. Lack compassion overall. Triage nurse was touching her face and mouth in front of patients. Unhygienic. Canโ€™t believe the standard of care: in a time like this when there are global viruses circulating I wouldnโ€™t trust

I waited 20 mins, at the front of the line with noone behind me to see Triage for my very sick mum & Triage Nurse, Sarah - short hair. Absolutely horrifying, dismissive, uncompassionate & unprofessional demeanor. If the attitude of doctors & nurses at this hospital don't change, they will end up killing someone. My mother was in terrible pain and all the triage cared about was questioning her, incredibly condescendingly as to why she didn't take any pain meds, and told her to "just breathe normally" when she had a panic attack. Good job, Sarah. Not. If you start to hate your job this much that you would rather argue with people in distress than actually be helpful, please do everyone a favour & look for a new career.

Typical of many public hospitals, there are long waits, parking issues and both good and bad experiences, depending upon the actual day and staff members on. We have waited on average at least 4 hours plus, to be seen through emergency and had the best and also worst experiences. Some terrific doctors and departments / clinics, with others bringing the rest down. This hospital has some newer sections that are clean, well planned out and high tech and then there are areas that look incredibly old and in need of a make over. Some of the patient rooms are quite good while others are cramped and bathrooms are not thoroughly cleaned. Many areas do need to be better maintained and cleaned, including external areas. The free street parking isnโ€™t often long enough, based on the wait times for appointments and the parking garage fills up quickly.

I was at Maroondah hospital last week for breast surgery. The doctors, nurses and all staffs are helping me with 110% of their energy. They waited for me hrs before surgery because the MRI didnโ€™t work well before surgery. Finally it did! Thanks for all your hard work to save me! We have to understand that doctors, nurses and hospital staffs work very hard and are under pressure everyday. Pls respect and cheer them up when we go to hospitals for care!!! Always say โ€œthank you!โ€

To whom are thinking of going to this hospital. My girlfriend was having some major issues with her ear to the point it was a 10/10 pain level with the feeling of fluid and pressure building up in her head. I immediately called 000 and they refused to call an ambulance because it wasn't "urgent" enough since she wasn't passed out, bleeding, or having an asthma attack yet. So, I was able to secure a lift to drive us to the nearest hospital (Maroondah Hospital). As soon as we got to Maroondah hospital there was a wait time in emergency (which was expected) and we sat down receiving some painkillers for my girlfriends after about 20-30 minutes. We would then proceed to wait up to 1 hour before I would ask how long we would have to wait before seeing a doctor. The nurse at the desk would respond with "roughly 3 hours". I then called Knox private hospital to ask about their wait times in which they responded with 4 hours, so we decided to continue to wait at Maroondah since it would be the same wait. After waiting for about 4 hours, my girlfriend was very tired and could no longer just sit still without knowing how much longer we would be waiting. She went up to the desk where there was a new nurse to receive the news, we would be waiting another 3-7 hours before anyone saw us. This shook her to the point the painkillers she received were enough until we could see a doctor the next day and could barely sleep all night due to the pain she later felt. This performance from the hospital was pathetic and needs to be addressed. Whether we were a low priority due to a lack of symptoms or "not looking as bad" as the healthier patience that were seen before us, is ridiculous. We would have been seen if we swapped hospitals and accommodated for more, instead of being left in a loud emergency room without any expectations of being seen unless we chose to wait for over 6 hours minimum. In conclusion, I would not recommend visiting this hospital unless you have no other choices. They will not see you unless you even if you are crying in agonising pain and choose to see others who are practically coming in for a script.

I was referred to Maroondah by a GP with suspected appendicitis on Saturday afternoon and all the staff very quick to act in the ED, swiftly taking me through for further tests. Upon confirming it was appendicitis I was on the list for surgery and ushered to a bed upstairs. While the scheduled surgery was bumped a couple of times due to higher priorities I was well informed and well looked after throughout my stay. Thank you to all the staff for making my stay and appendectomy an overwhelming positive experience. Cheers

Iโ€™ve been attending this hospital 3 times and each time I promised to myself "Never again!" Long waiting and rude staff.... No one cares.. Last visit 5 hour waiting to make X-RAY of my foot . It was 3am and I was last patient in the waiting room when I left to home without been seen by doctor and X-RAY report. Avoid this hospital at all costs if you can. "Never again!"

Donโ€™t expect the medical staff to listen to you. I walked in with my sister having an asthma attack and we were treated like criminals for asking oxygen. The doctor was rude, condescending and in 5 hours, my sister wasnโ€™t even offered a cup of water. My sister has severe asthma and her treatment plan wasnโ€™t followed. Absolute rubbish.

Took my toddler daughter to the Emergency Department due to a dog bite. The nurses/admin were inefficient and unfriendly. When asked why so slow, the answer was โ€œnot enough government fundingโ€. As a healthcare professional, the triage nurse didnโ€™t even offer my daughter a basic clean of the wound. I have visited a few hospitalsโ€™ ED, this hospital definitely has a long way to go. I put this review here is not trying to critise or complain. I really want this hospital to become better. This is a major public hospital servicing outer eastern suburb, lots of people rely on it. It has to be trusted.

Terrible treatment. Went to emergency for dehydration and total exhaustion. Explained that I'd had gastric sleeve surgery 3 months prior and still couldn't drink enough to sustain me. Triage nurse said since my blood pressure and vitals were normal nothing could be done. As weak as I was I had to PUSH to be seen by a doctor even when I explained I couldn't shower or do anything physical without dizziness and shaking. When I eventually saw a doctor [hours later] he wouldn't give me any IV fluids but advised I see a dietitian. Left there disgusted and bewildered. I ended up having blood and urine tests at my GP's rooms and am now receiving IV infusions [as required] at his clinic. My GP said yes I'm experiencing muscle fatigue from the effects of dehydration. It wasn't rocket science!

I had a fall backwards, my head hit on concrete unconscious. A big lump on my head as big as my hand. Ambulance took me to the emergency room. Waited for a CT for more than 5 hours. One reception in a dark blue was so rude. Another nurse behind the window was rude too. If I had a blood clot in the brain from blooding, I could have died there. She said the CT is for the more serious injuries patients to do the CT first. It made me think about racism. By the time I asked at the window (3 pm in the afternoon), feeling most patients were treated, only me left. I decided to leave, called a taxi home. To see a GP, asking for a piece of paper to do a CT somewhere else.

I was not recommend to bring your child to go there. It was horrible experience for my family to be wait there for more than 4hrs as they think we were not the emergency case. I understood they were busy, but the people came later than us got their treatment quickly. They told me that my daughter was virus infection ( not coivd, we did test before we went there). It was normal from their experience, no need to worry. From the time we wait, my daughter from chill and high fever until she vomit. Finally it's our turn, the pediatric was not check much, and rush to finish our case. Next day we went to the Royal Children Hospital. They treated my daughter case as emergency, did assort of tests. All the case finish within 2hrs, ending up with antibiotics. Would not recommend to see the pediatric there!!

Yesterday I ordered flowers (same day delivery). Today I called the patient who said she hadn't received them. I called the florist who confirmed they were delivered yesterday. I call Maroondah Hospital reception. The receptionist I spoke to around 2pm this afternoon was the most rudest person ever!! Her behaviour was so unnecessary. I politely asked her if flowers were delivered for a patient yesterday and she angrily back lashes telling me the flowers only arrived today. Don't even know why she was so defensive and aggressive in her response. I then contact the florist again who confirmed they didn't do any deliveries today plus showed me a date and time stamp that the flowers were delivered yesterday. I called back, got the same rude receptionist at the hospital. I say to her (again politely) "I've contacted the florist who has shown me a date stamp that the flowers were delivered yesterday, I would like to know when the patient will receive them as she's about to be moved to another ward". She was border line abusive responding, "EXCUSE ME! those flowers only came today". I reply in a stern tone, "I'm not asking when the flowers were delivered, if you listened to my question I asked you when the patient will receive them". No apology but arrogance and further aggression from the receptionist at this point, while she explained when the patient would receive them. I then thank her and ask to be transferred to the ward where the patient is. She doesn't say a word, not even an apology but quickly cuts my connection with her to the transfer. When people call government departments most of the time before someone answers there's a warning to the caller not to be aggressive toward staff within that department. There should be a warning for staff that are aggressive toward calls they receive just as equally because this is a classic example of government staff that start off the call in a rude aggressive snappy tone. Receptionist that I spoke to this afternoon here's a tip! Your job is as a RECEPTIONIST includes handling CALLS and GOOD customer service. If this simple basic job is too hard for you to comply with get another job where you don't have to deal with people. Don't take your bad attitude and miserable day out on others who are also going through things and trying to look at the bright side of life. Nobody deserves unnecessary aggression! Keep your problems at home! Your pay check is too high to be so rude! it's our taxpayer money going to people like you undeserved!

Maroondah physchiatric hospital needs to be improved! One example when I was in there over three years ago now I saw a man who was very anxious at that present moment all he wanted to ask for was his medication to calm his mind and body down! When I was looking at this man I noticed behind the hard security plastic screen there were ten trained medical staff and they payed no attention to this man which in this kind of situation needs improvement because he ended up hitting a female nurse because he was unwell meรฑtally and not looked after at the time! My husband was treated at Maroondah hospital for a badly broken ankle, the care that he received while in hospital was exemplary. Since arriving home though, a phone consult with his surgeon which was meant to happen weeks ago so that he could acquire a clearance certificate to return to work still is yet to happen. Instructions were given on how to contact my husband, but still, nothing. My husband is ready to return to work but without the certificate is unable. I wonder if the surgeon at Maroondah will be filling my childrenโ€™s Christmas stockings this year without my husband returning to work we canโ€™t.

Dear Sir/ Madam Please pass on my sincere thanks to your entire staff ( including ward assistants, nurses and doctors ) who looked after me during my stay at the Hospital between 24 June and 29 July. This includes admission to the Emergency department and staying at Ward 1 East (bed 10). I received the best care possible with passion and understanding. I could not speak highly enough of your staff. Once again I thank you for the excellent treatment I received. Kind regards Joe Gombos

Last night (June 12) I took my 8 yr old daughter to ED with a cut toe. We brought an IPad to pass the time of an expected wait. Counting about 30 people when we arrived I though it would be a long time. Waiting for triage I watched with awe at how the staff gently processed and approached everyone. My daughter was treated immediately, and the staff (nurse, admin, doctor) could not have been more caring, gentle... I think God was there on duty last night. Thank you Maroonda ED, God bless you all.

Oh my goodness how do the nurses and doctors cope I took my mum who was quite unwell with divoticulitis Plus other issues to the ED which was so busy we had a 4 hour long wait .Then when she was being assessed we went to a small room that was used for plastering breaks no real emergency equipment. Then we were husherd back to the waiting room and given an at home management plan My mum is 83 years old with iron loss her bloods were alarmingly abnormal Later that day I called an ambulance She has spent the night in ED on an ambulance trolley because the hospital is full to bursting Is there anything we as a community can do to get the government to move quickly in extending the hospital I fear for my mum and her care Thank you to all the staff that just cope but still smile that miss breaks but don't complain God bless you all

Emergency: within 10 minutes. Urgent: within 30 minutes. Semi-urgent: within 60 minutes. This is what it says for waiting times at Maroondah Emergency. After 3 and a half hours I still have not seen a doctor. I asked the the admin clerk how come that five patients who walked in after me have gone through to see a doctor. The reply was by not even looking at me, this is not a deli department where you pick a number. They decide how urgent your case is. I was feeling very unwell, my leg was swelled up to my knee and throbbing. I could not wait in a chair anymore and my husband took me home. At 12.41am the following morning I had a message on my phone that it was my turn to see a doctor. So finally after nearly five hours someone would have attended to me. Very disappointed! I am 70 years and have osteoporosis and I fell down the stairs.

This hospital doesnโ€™t care about with deaf people. I went today and couldnโ€™t lip read as masks were on. I spoke to triage and told my mother is my carer and needs to be with me to translate. I got told no and only 1 hour she could remain in wait room. No staff/ nurse cared about to hear how very unwell I was due to mental health. Just spoke to someone in charge on the phone. I felt threatened and she was very hostile and agressive towards me. It was so bad and I hang up as I was getting murdered and it upset me. Grow up Maroondah hospital and learn some manners. Never again

~ Best Place To Get Out Of ~ I Would Rather Stay At Home With Broken Bones Next Time ~ Filthy toilets ( urine covering a toilet floor and no one cared ) staff and Doctors definitely not treating PPE as protective more like accessories that you can eat and type with while wearing. It was eye opening to watch as young Drs did little else but eat, chat and stare at computers and play with their phones and repeat the process all day. Nurses belligerent and lacked empathy to say the least. One older nurse was obviously queen of one ward and was overly dramatic which matched her performance over her domain. 1st Doctor attending was supercilious and obdurate. 2nd Doctor attending was professional and polite. The Radiographer was very professional and caring.

i was in the waiting room for close to 10 hours. i had arrived at 6pm and was not seen until 3:50am. during that time i saw multiple people leave in frustration, a psych patient left without his phone or wallet and the nurses didnโ€™t even notice or care. one of the staff members was incredibly rude, yelling at a patient whom had just miscarriaged. when asking how much longer the wait would be, they just replied with i donโ€™t know but youโ€™re next in line. i was โ€œnext in lineโ€ for 5 hours. it was not until i went up to the triage nurse crying in pain was i finally seen. when taken into emergency, i was in there for a total of 5 minutes and sent home, saying there was nothing they could do. i had waited 10 hours for nothing. i mentioned to staff that i hadnโ€™t eaten since lunchtime and they dismissed it not caring. overall the experience was horrible and i would not recommend this hospital at all. long wait times, rude staff and nobody seems to know whatโ€™s going on.

The worst service ever! I am at emergency room and have been waiting for 1.5 hours to see the doctor. Why would someone go to emergency if they could really wait for that long? For the first 45 minutes, no patients were called. Looks like the whole team of doctors went out for lunch. Wouldn't have visited the place if it wasn't a public holiday. Hope to never return to this place. P.S. - Alright, so I waited for over two hours and finally the doctor saw us. The whole process was pretty swift and efficient after that. I would have rated it as one star but I am making it 4 for the doctors and nurses.

I've spent the last few days in and out of the emergency department. All staff I interacted with were amazing. The doctors explained each process well and were very thorough in trying to find out what was wrong. Yes there can be a wait but there are a lot of people needing assistance and only so many doctors. I appreciate all the hard work the staff do.

5 stars for the dr, 1 removed for the nurse who felt it ok to project her subjective opinion (making me feel like a waste of space). Keep within your scope of practice, please. We become nurses to care for people. Look after yourself if you're burning out to the point of projecting your bad mood onto patients. Apart from that interaction, the hospital was great. All other staff included.

From ED, Day Procedure, Anesthetist, Surgeon, Outpatient teams and all nurses in between were FANTASTIC. I cut my finger and had to have my first ever surgery for nerve repair, I was shocked at how quick, efficient, caring and supportive every single person was. Could not possibly thank all these teams enough for what you do, you are all incredible!

Recently visited the ER here, while my asthmatic daughter was experiencing respiratory distress at her school camp. We were far away from home and not sure what to expect. All the staff were genuine and lovely. They were quick to triage and fine a place place for her in their paediatric ward. The nurse on duty was excellent. An equal or better experience than we have had at our local private hospital previously. Thank you Maroondah Hospital Team!!

Without a doubt, this is one of the worst hospitals I have ever been too. Waited 10 hours to see someone, told I was being admitted and they were waiting on a bed, was told I was going to be administered antibiotics every 2 hours (had it once and that's was it in a 10 hour window) to finally giving up and going home and getting a script for antibiotics. Will never come here again

Alerted staff to a lady who slipped sideways in her chair and face planted on the chair next to her, she didn't flinch. Nurses said she's sound asleep and left her there. Over an hour later when they called her name and found her she was actually unconscious!! And had been all that time poor lady! I seriously hope she is ok now. Not the only patient who was being looked after by other patients in the ER waiting room. Extremely disappointed with the lack of care. My own personal experience was not bad which is why the 2 starts.

Went in for routined check up on a fractured elbow for MIL. Looks like there were too many people. Forced us to redo the X-ray even though we have done it a day before as per their instructions to buy more time. And they couldnโ€™t even bother to write the right body parts to be x-ray (right wrist instead of the injured elbow.) had to show the X-ray we did before to get the technician to agree and YET still need to check with the doctor. Also to note all these are chargeable - so itโ€™s either incompetence or greed. Not sure which is worse. Stay away if possible.

This is without a doubt the worst hospital in Victoria. The level of neglect of care, and ignorance shown by doctors and staff here is beyond believe. Not escorting patients who cannot walk to the bathroom, to the point they have to crawl there on all fours infront of other patients, humiliating themselves. Ignoring bed call alerts for up to 30 minutes... delaying critical surgeries for nearly a week, discharging patients with serious injuries without checking the condition of the wound, or changing the bandages, even when they BEGGED for them to be checked so they were sure they were okay to go to rehab, only to find out it's infected days after they get there. big surprise. Many of the doctors see basic care needs as 'below them', such as refusing to wet a hand towel at the basin 5 feet away from them for a patient, due to that being 'the nurses job'. If you're ever injured or in need of care, DO NOT go to Maroondah hospital, you will regret it.

Today I went to Maroondah Hospital Emergency and had one of the best experiences I've ever had at a hospital. I have done something to my shoulder and was in and out of Hospital in an hour. The staff was amazing and made me feel important. I thank everyone from Triage, Administration, X-ray and especially the doctors that helped me. Thank you Maroondah.

came in at 11:30pm. didnโ€™t get seen at all. itโ€™s 5:10am currently. i understand busy doctors and nurses but everyone else that came after me was seen before me. i feel like crying because i was advised not to leave after i asked if it was an okay idea for me to just leave. i waited SIX HOURS. iโ€™m so disappointed and so upset. iโ€™ve chosen to leave because itโ€™s ridiculous and iโ€™d rather run the risk of getting worse than being seen by someone here. itโ€™s truely so disgusting and disappointed how you can neglect a patient for so long. i was patient and kind. i am so over this hospital. this is the second time this has happened. i donโ€™t understand. poor people waiting in here with me vomiting and coughing and itโ€™s just sad. there is no empathy just blunt faces or gossiping conversation behind the counter of the administration clerk. EVERYONE AFTER ME, I CANT MAKE THIS UP EVERYONE WHO CAME IN AFTER ME WAS SEEN BEFORE ME. do i have to be rolling on the floor bleeding to death to get acknowledgment? disappointing and beyond BEYOND FRUSTRATING.

Went in last night feeling very unwell. Was taken straight in and the doctor and nurse stayed with me the whole time. I cannot thank the young Irish lady doctor enough. My real thanks goes to the nurse a young guy who literally was an angel. I was in cubicle 7. Your care and humour was second to none. Thank you .

I've been to emergency 3 times now. Twice for me, once with my partner. Only once I had to wait more than a couple of hours to be seen - but they did provide pain relief while we were waiting so that made it tolerable. The nurses and doctors have all been very kind and helpful. The experience overall has been good, given being in an emergency ward in hospital isn't generally going to be a good experience by nature. Every time we have gone the hospital has provided all tests to investigate the issue thoroughly, and we have felt listened to and though our questions were answered. At times we had to wait probably longer than we would have liked to (eg sent back into the waiting room to wait for the next thing or waiting for a bed) but that probably can't be helped and would likely be the case anywhere. Although the staff are busy, they have all been lovely and helpful and made it clear to call them if you need anything.

Avoid this hospital if possible. Was told by a nurse the doctor would see me in half an hour . Two hours later I went to the admin last and asked if she knew when I'd be seen . Her response was "how long is a piece of string " I told her what the nurse said and she said nurses don't give out wait times ..so she implied I was lying . I was in so much pain and no one cared. 4 hours and no updates from anyone . Staff are rude and no one there seems to care

Terrible "emergency" service. Waited 5 hours with my daughter. When we got there the place was quiet but we still had to wait and wait and wait. After five hours it was busy and noisy. Still no one saw my daughter. Left without getting any help. Thankfully I didn't cancel her GP appointment. We went to that instead. Thanks for nothing Maroondah. Oh and your place is a dump.

6 phone calls to Emergency for details on a parent with serious injuries, getting hung up and then finally getting through only to be told Doctor wonโ€™t come to phone and to call back in an hour. I have only been waiting for 3.5 hours for an answer. I understand the Hospital is busy but not good enough.

Currently here now! It's coming up 4hours since I have been here. I came in because I have had the Flu (PCR test come back negative) I am a severe asthmatic and when I arrived it told them that, and that I am having trouble breathing, that when coughing it sounds like a bark sometimes and my chest is so sore that it feels like by muscles and ligaments are being torn off one by one. I also told them I am in pain and that I am so lathargic and exhausted that even putting dishes away exhausted me. The want to do a rat test, chest x-ray and bloods, I asked how long it will take and they said they have to look at their charts, have a coughing fit and needed to take my asthma pump, ask the security guard if he could ask the nurses how long it will take because I am having trouble breathing and they said don't know could take another 5-6 hours! I am crying, in pain and as an asthmatic who is having trouble breathing, I might as well go home and just deal with it. The don't care at all, just a number to them.

I can't say anything about hospital stays here as being good or otherwise, but from my wife's perspective who was a patient here, we couldn't have asked for better treatment from the doctors and nurses in the ICU ward. After 2 weeks of post-op ups and downs, literally trying everything at their disposal, they were successful in savings her life. They kept me and family up to date with her condition, even when there was bad news.

In this day and age, the stress medical teams are under is huge. I had the misfortune of having to attend the ED at Maroondah on Sunday 25th and was dreading the whole process however I needed urgent attention. The staff from beginning to end were kind, efficient, responsive and I can only say from the bottom of my heart a huge thank you. I arrived and there were a lot of sick and poorly people waiting however they fly through diagnosis/triage and they see to you as soon as they can. They also are really fast at doing the tests needed and getting the results back. It was truly a great experience despite the delays and the amount of people waiting to be treated. Thank you to all the nurses: Triage- EIlish; ED Doctor - Dr. Mani and the various nurses that helped me yesterday. You do amazing work. There were clearly some challenges with some patients and clear there was some anti-social behaviour and truly you are all saints in there. Best experience with a caring team. Thank you.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the exceptional care you gave my father in law over the past few weeks. The team on level 2 North ward were some of the most caring and professional nurses I've had the privilege of meeting. Special mention to Susan, you are truly one of a kind, what a blessing it is to have you on that ward with your patience, professionalism and your humour, in what was one of the hardest times for the whole family. Thanks again to the team, it really takes a special kind of human to do what you all do.

Spent a week there including 2 nights in ICU. The emergency wait times are ridiculously long but I can only blame our state government for that and it's broken promises. Once I was assessed the surgery was very prompt and the ICU nurses I awoke to were absolutely first class and their bedside manner across all the shifts was superb. Sadly the ward nurses are very apathetic and the cleaners and caterers are terrible at their job. Pretty much looked after myself once I got to a ward including making my own bed and emptying my catheter bag daily. Don't bother pressing the call button. I think it's disconnected.

I was in for 12 hours and it was one of the best medical experiences I've had recently. After a bunch of chemo I'm used to long painful drawn out processes, but at least the whole time here I felt listened to and like a human being. Doctors believed my symptoms and listened intently. We did a bunch of tests, and it genuinely felt like people were trying to get to the bottom of it rather than just trying to get me away. I felt respected for all 12 hours. I know there were other in the waiting room who'd probably not have rated a 10, but of the doctors and nurses I saw, they were wonderful. I bloody hope they're all paid well because they deserve it.

Over 9 hours in the Triage ED. Assessed by Ambulance Vic to go to hospital immediately as my BP was dangerously high. No Dr came near me and in that time only 3 people were called in by a Dr. Triage ED was ignored by the Drs and others were waiting much longer than me and in pain! Young mum brought in a baby with breathing problems. Mum left after waiting hours for a no show Dr. Parents came with a 4yo with abdominal pain. Again waited for hours and no Dr came near them. They left also. Young children should always come first. The nurses were great but the hospital needs a kick up the backside and the Drs need to remember why they're Drs or find another job. I went home and took extra BP medication to bring down my Blood Pressure. Looks like I'm reduced to self medicating!!! Just great. Thanks Maroondah!!

Had 4 operations over 2 months here and with only 1 exception, found staff, nurses and doctors to be helpful, encouraging and generally fabulous. The public system IS working. The system in the clinics should be used everywhere, simple and effective. Box Hill take note. The cancer centre is lovely and well stocked with magazines. Minus one star: food is mostly bland or over salted with desserts straight out of a plastic bag. Doubt a dietitian has ever looked at it. Also, the whole discharge process could be tweaked. Special mention to Marion and Geoff for their professionalism and dedication.

Presented at the ED on Tuesday at 5 pm and was greeted by security, directed to the triage nurse who was busy but assessed me after 10 mins. With the amount of pain I was in she mentioned that she would bring me some pain medication and directed me to reception for details tobe entered. The receptionist was lovely and caring and asked me to take a seat. The hospital is old compared to Box Hill but there is a television to keep you entertained while you wait, phone chargers to charge your phone and vending machines. I expected the long wait after I was given my pain medication as Emergency Departments are always busy, it's a hospital not a hotel so was expecting the long wait as have been to many an emergency room . The nurse mentioned that it would be quite a wait and was seen by the Dr. Melissa at 10 pm. Dr was apologetic for the wait and was assessed and give more pain killers as well as a warm blanket as I was shivering due to the ER being cold. She also gave me some time to rest in the Fast track rooms while my prescriptions were being organised. Dr Melissa was thorough, caring and considerate so much so she helped me with my bags to the car park to wait for my transport. The staff given limited resources and difficult patients are doing a wonderful job. Thank you.

I'd give no stars if I could. Never listened to me, treated my family like a number not a person by constantly hand waving away dangerous events despite my constant warnings. It is a difficult unique I stress "UNIQUE" situation so our misfortune will never be repeated for others and is not reflective of their caring good intentions which I do not bring into question but the fact is they talked down to us without truly communicating and again that does not change the constant pain we receive. They blocked all attempts by me to promote rehabilitation and cooperation even when I did ALL the legwork as they didn't have the options at their facility to get the job done. Not taking responsibility for their technically correct "consequences".

My fiancรจ went to the emergency room last sunday night experiencing horrific abdominal pain after previously being diagnosed with a UTI and kidney infection and prescribed a strong antibiotic and instructed to visit emergency if things got worse. She waited in the ER for 18 hours to which was given endone and told she should stop taking the antibiotic because its not necessary as nothing came up on any of the scans they did at ER. 5 days on shes now gone to knox private ER and has been placed in hospital as the infection has gone septic, had maroondah have been competent at delivering actual decent care this may have been avoided altogether.

Whilst nearly vomiting from the drink and weighing 200kg's at the time, I was left on a solid bed with no pillow and a herniated disc and couldn't sit up again unassisted. I tweaked my neck from a previous injury trying to sit up and while crying my eye's out, a group of 8 doctor's just watched me. Then proceeded to leave the room without telling me what was going on. I was devastated, in pain and lost all respect for the health care system. The only person that came in to see if I was ok was an ambulance driver who didn't speak much English. He looked disappointed by the doctor's for leaving me that way. Never again will I go there!!! In a most vulnerable state, the lack of professionalism and care was astounding!

Went there for badly infected ingrown toenail. Came out with the toenail removed, they said it would grow back. Fast forward about 8 months and it has grown back into the skin WORSE than what it was. Reoccurring infections, fungal infection, and needs surgery again, not to mention the pain. They also discharged me quickly without telling me what recovery would look like.

๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ I just finished taking my dad here, he had to get two teeth removed. Debra the nurse was so lovely and caring, she made my dad feel right at home. I couldnโ€™t recommend her enough. The dentist (I forgot her name - she was of Asian descent) was so gentle and careful and considerate. She ensured dad wa...

๐Ÿ˜  The worst hospital. My sister had been suffering from breathing problems and attended this hospital in the morning due to it getting worse over night. 9 hours later sitting by herself, the doctor discharged her while saying nothing is wrong with her while seeing her physical state and it was clear s...

๐Ÿ˜  Will definitely never come to casey emergency ever again! Rather drive to Frankston! The nurses clearly dont have anything to do, bundled chatting away, on the phone, yet the waiting time is between what and what! I know it is promoted no rudeness to staff please respect, but have they ever though t...

๐Ÿ˜  Amazing, qualified and helpful staff and they are doing their best to cope with the ever-increasing volume of patients from the fastest growing part of Melbourne. ๐Ÿ˜  Do not have your baby here. There are many other hospitals to choose your maternal care with, and I don't believe Box Hill Hospital as the right choice. I left feeling very uncared for and my stay there was quite a lot. Lots of drips not checked nor working correctly, no care while I was recovering...
