One of worst private hospitals around and worst experience ever. Nurses are so rude that they won’t ever care about patients. There is some sort of empathy towards patients/clients but no fks given by their rude nurse. A patient who just had their surgery done was left on her own for hours when they needed some help. After repeatedly asking for help, their nurse on duty was so rude to even help the patient to put on their clothes let alone helping them for anything else. We paid $10k out of pocket upfront to get the surgery done never again with EPWORTH. We know it’s hard to get nurses these days but it’s does cost anything to be kind towards your fellow human being who is actually in your care.

Nurses were good, doctors didn’t care, 5 times we requested pain relief for a kid with a head injury and still never got any. Doctor turned up after hours of waiting - no one checked on pupils etc prior - took less then 60 seconds to say “she’s fine, if once swelling goes down anything looks out of place being her back, otherwise good to go” What a disgrace

NOT WORTH IT - CHOOSE PUBLIC I attended ED to have a cyst looked as per my doctors instructions. Was hoping for better care and less wait time than public hospitals so I was happy to pay the $400.00 admission fee and unfortunately discovered it is worse than public care. Waited an hour in the waiting room before being seen by a triage nurse. Broken equipment like the vitals monitor malfunctioning with no replacements available, asked two nurses for an extra blanket as I was cold after going into shock from a nurse bungling an attempt to insert a cannula in my arm - both disappeared and didn't come back. Not enough seating in the waiting room (there was 4 seats) - I gladly gave my seat up for elderly patients coming in. After waiting around 3 hours just to see a doctor I gave up, demanded a refund and left. Very sad indication of the state of Australian health care, let alone what is supposed to be the best Australian healthcare has to offer.

A huge thank you to all the doctors and nursing staff in Epworth emergency. Margie and the young lady working with you were particularly caring and understanding towards my mum. Our family are so grateful for the truly exceptional care mum received.

Was not happy as the nurses took my antidepressant off me to put away. They were to give me my medication with other medication I was to have after my operation. They only gave it to me once and never after that. It wasn’t until I got home after spending 5 days in hospital that I realised as I was feeling really bad that they didn’t offer me my medication. I suffered really bad as you must not suddenly stop this medication. It even says this on the box!! It is very bad for you. I had an awful experience and I would never return to this hospital again. I had a major operation to deal with and along with this. I do not rate this hospital at all!

The staff at Epworth Richmond (who we met on the day) were all very helpful. The doctor especially. She spent the time required for us to understand what was going on. And then she made more time to look into things further (no need to go into personal details here). I would be happy to recommend Epworth, considering our positive experience there.

Joint surgery saw me visit here for three nights. Staff from check in to discharge were exceptional, friendly, caring and supportive. The private room in the ward was well equipped with TV where you could access your own streaming services. Nursing staff were diligent, caring, patient, answered all questions and were responsive to needs. Meals were ordered by your electronic screen and was delivered at your time of choosing for breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner and night snack. Average quality food, but did the job. I would recommend Epworth Private to anyone.

I went to Epworth Richmond after spending dozens of hours waiting in queues of emergency rooms at public hospitals hoping for better service. How wrong I was! I had been suffering from headaches and dizziness for close to a month and had visited public EDs multiple times. To their credit, the public hospitals gave me the best care they could and I felt like they genuinely cared about my condition. Unfortunately the last time I visited a public ED, they could not carry out all the tests they should due to a lack of resources. I went to Epworth Richmond hoping that I'd be able to get tests done quicker. While I was able to able to get a MRI done quickly and saw a good neurologist on the same day (after a 8 hour wait), the quality of the floor doctors on ED was appalling. After the long wait for the neurologist consultation, the nurses checked my blood pressure before discharging me . My blood pressure was at 180/120. The nurses were concerned and refused to discharge me as this was critically high although I didn't understand how high it was at the time. The floor doctor who had not even checked on me once during my 8 hour wait, merely put a nitrate sticker on me to artificially reduce the blood pressure as he clearly didn't want anything to do with me other than getting me out of there as quickly as possible. He said he would send my records to my GP and those are yet to be received by my GP either. It was later on that I found out that blood pressure like that was dangerously high. He also did not tell me about the unbelievable migraine I was about to get later that night due to nitrate either. I might eventually call Epworth to get them to send my health record from the night to my doctor but I doubt that ED doctor even made a record of it. I have to compliment the nurses though, all of them were wonderful. All in all I'm pretty sure the doctors at the public hospital were far more attentive and knowledgeable. If you are planning on visiting a private hospital, I suggest you give a public hospital one try beforehand. You will end up saving a lot of money but more importantly, get the service of better and more caring medical professionals. EDIT - I WAS NEVER FOLLOWED UP WITH AS MENTIONED BY THE HOSPITAL BELOW. THE SERVICE AT THIS HOSPITAL HAS BEEN APPALLING. NOT VISITING EVER AGAIN.

WoW, What a frightening, awful and disturbing experience that I had, I would not wish this experience upon anyone. My five year old son fell onto the pointy side of a brick and had a one inch by one inch deep indentation in his forehead, he was listless and slowing down, a frightening situation for anyone. I rushed my boy to Epworth Richmond and went to the emergency department, where they refused to provide emergency care for my child, until payments were confirmed, rather, the first, second and third order of business, was to capture all my details for billing and charge me $500 prior to any care provision,. They just left my son, listless and focused for fifteen minutes or so on filling in the paperwork, they could have cared less. Epworth Richmond emergency staff did not even care to assist my child while i did the paperwork, no care, empathy or health care evident. The Epworth staff all stood around, not going anywhere near my son and waited for the Nurse / Clerk to give them the nod that the paperwork and payments were completed. Just imagine if the Backoffice payment system had a glitch and the payments were not processed, what would they do then!!!!, The nurses and doctors, if indeed, that is what they were, seemed to be very well trained in the Backoffice billing workflow process as compared to health, patient or customer related care and focus. My dog gets better care at the vet, he gets a pat, a treat and told he is a good boy, all I got was pain, suffering, distress and a large expense, no support or care but rather treated with Disdain. I also experienced great fear when leaving and crossing the road, I had the uncomfortable thought that if i had been run over, the nurses would have rushed out, nicked my wallet and rolled me into the gutter as an approved care plan. Fair Ye be Warned If you have ever wondered what it is to experience an American health service, well, this has to be it. I have provided the details to Dana for internal review, lets hope their accountants take heed.

Had ACL reconstruction on my left knee 2 days ago. This was my first surgery of any kind and i was pretty tensed and anxious. From the moment I walked in, every single person that i came contact with had a smile on their face and reassured me that everything will go fine. I was located in Bethesda wing. The night nurse Jacqui kept my spirits up with her humor, and other nurses were always kind and showed compassion. The entire stay and the surgery was handled so professionally by the staff.

I was admitted to Epworth Richmond through their ED. My experience during my 10 days stay was excellent. Doctors were nice and very professional, nurses were friendly and caring however some of their duties and communications could be done or handled in better way. Catering staff were very effective and polite. Foods were like that in a 5 stars restaurant and plenty of it too. My experience with Epworth Richmond was great with some exceptions and improvements, like behaviour and communication for example, required from not all but certainly some nurses there.

Really disappointed in the service my husband received when he came here for surgery. The surgery itself was fantastic - but the after care overnight was far from it. He got out of surgery after 7pm. After fasting since 8am that day, the nurse told him dinner service was finished. She gave him 4 biscuits. He was starving, so I called the hospital to ask if they could please find some food for him, in which the nurse I spoke to said “he’s a grown adult, he needs to speak up”. Just rude! Nurses should be so much better than this. He actually didn’t feel like any of the nurses on duty overnight were approachable, hence he didn’t feel comfortable to ask. Day nurses were much more friendly and accomodating. For a private hospital which we paid a lot of money for, I would expect A LOT more.

I got my wisdom teeth out today and am currently studying nursing. A nurse by the name of Lexi L in the theatre department made my experience much easier and definitely made me feel excited to be a lovely nurse like herself in the future!

My time in ICU & CCU following Cardiac surgery to replace my Mitral Valve was managed exceptionally well. The Staff all worked as a team anticipated my needs & put up with my ( anaesthetic induced ) verbal nonsense ( in ICU) . I particularly liked the International atmosphere created by staff being from everywhere. My Surgical Team were outstanding, thank you supported by the Nursing Staff in each area. The Orderlies from Radiology, Catering & Cleaning staff were always pleasant & encouraging. Thank-you everyone for getting me through this quite difficult time. I’m almost ready for discharge after being at Epworth Brighton for almost 2 weeks. Once again all the Staff here have been terrific with intact senses of humour. Thanks again everyone Georgina

I recently underwent surgery and spent 3 nights in the Lee Wing. Being a nervous patient on the day of surgery, everyone was very understanding and looked after me well and made me feel at ease. The nursing staff during my stay were excellent and again I was very impressed with all the staff. The meals were also of excellent quality and it’s great that you have the option to choose what time you would like to have your meals. A private room with a view, beautiful meals, great entertainment options and the fantastic nursing staff contributed to a relaxed start to my long recovery process. Thankyou.

I recently spent two nights at the Epworth after coming through Emergency. The experience was absolutely awful and I will never attend there again. As the triage process took so long I was asked to sit in a wheelchair instead of being placed in a bed. I was made to feel guilty by the paramedics as it was Code Orange and they needed to leave. I was told I would be fine in a wheelchair despite the fact that I was in so much pain after falling backwards from a ladder and landing on my back/ bottom. My husband was upset because he knows how kind I am and I was going to do as I was asked. He was asked to leave the area because he was getting cross at the paramedics who were making me feel it was my only choice. I because very upset to, the whole situation was simply horrible, Unbeknownst to anyone at that stage I had fractured my sacrum. My Doctor and Physiotherapist have both said it was the worst thing I could have done to sit on a wheelchair. The pain shot through my back and I was in agony and tears. A bed was quickly found. Around 3 in the morning I had a CT scan. The nurse later came to tell me I was fine, no fractures just bruising. 20 minutes later she came back to say she had made a mistake and I did sustain a fracture. I was assigned a neurosurgeon whose name I won’t mention. He came saw me, told me the medication I was on and that I just needed to rest. The following night I stood up to go to the bathroom and lost control of my bladder, I called a nurse who assisted me. I had to call later in the night for pain killers as I was well overdue for them. The next morning I stood up and again lost control of my bladder. Again I called a nurse to let them know, they weren’t concerned at all. Shortly after I received a message that I could go home. I found this really distressing as no one was addressing my incontinence. I asked when a Dr would come to see me to discuss pain medication, physio, follow up care etc. I was told I was on a surgery ward and I shouldn’t really be there. I asked about the Neurosurgeon and his advice, I was told there was no advice. I asked them to phone him as I wanted to speak with him. I was really upset with the lack of empathy and care. Eventually they got hold of my Doctor, he wasn’t interested in talking with me and I was told to go home. was in a lot of pain, walking very unsteadily and not sure when I would have more lack of bladder control. I asked for medication/ script to take home. This must have been a huge burden because it took 2 hours of waiting. By this stage it was now 2pm, I hadn’t eaten since 6am because I was told I was going him at 10:30 and so I was really light headed. Finally I was asked to go downstairs to pick up the medication. We asked for a wheel chair and waited another hour and no one came. My partner then walked around the corner and found one. He pushed me past the Nurses Desk to leave, there was no acknowledgment at all. Two days later I phoned the Neurosurgeon to discuss my care. I expressed how I was feeling especially with my bladder control. He stated that I needed to go straight back to the hospital and I should never have been asked to go home. I told him that I had asked to speak to him at the hospital and he said that he didn’t need to talk with me. He said I needed to go back to the Epworth immediately. I asked who I would see. He said just turn up and talk to someone. I didn’t do as he suggested as I had no idea or support about who to see. Instead I went to my GP who said loss of bladder control is the biggest red flag when sustaining a fracture in the sacrum, she was appalled that I was sent home in this situation as was my Physiotherapist. I haven't had a single follow up call from the neurosurgeon. Ive always heard very good reports about the Epworth, however I’ve never experienced such a lack of dignity, respect and care in a hospital. I hope in future that if someone else sustains a fracture in their sacrum that they are listened to and acknowledged if they have incontinence and are then treated appropriately. Rebecca

I've now had 2 stays at Richmond Epworth and would recommend this hospital without hesitation. This time the coronavirus precautions were obvious and reassuring, but there was no change in the professional and caring way all of the staff went about their work. Special mention to all the nursing staff on level 4 lee wing who looked after me fantastically both times. Thank you to everyone involved with my stay.

Some nurses were racist and doesn't even smile or talk to you when they seen you around. the facilitators that were looking after the students were racist and keep failing people and making up stuff that aren't even true and reported to the school teacher. i would recommand the hospital but definiately not the workers there. DISAPPOINTED!

I spent 2 nights at Epworth Richmond, discharged this morning. I cannot praise this hospital highly enough. From admission to discharge, it has all been very smooth. Doctors, nurses, cleaners, everyone, are all very caring and professional and the attention to details, second to none. The food was also excellent, top restaurant quality. If ever I need surgery for anything in the future, I wouldn't even consider another hospital. Thank you to everyone at 3CATO for making my stay truly an excellent experience.

The hospital was excellent and the attending male nurse Danno in the cardiac ward was terrific. The food and menu ordering system was much better than anywhere I had ever seen before and service was excellent. Not that anyone wants to be in hospital, but Epworth Private Richmond is the place to be if you have to be in one.

My experience here was excellent. My surgery - hip replacement- went seamlessly and on the medical side I couldn't have wished for more. The facilities were spot-on and the range and quality of food left me thinking that I was staying in a 5-star hotel. The one thing that detracted from an overall 5-star rating was that while the nursing staff performed their routine duties brilliantly they were less so when asked for something off-the-cuff e.g "would you be able to find me some compression stockings as the ones I had have gone missing?". Other than that, a first rate experience for me and if I ever need surgery again this would be my first choice!

Discharge Summary was documented all wrong! Was crying in pain and admin unethically put a pen in my hand and wanted me to sign + asking me for $350 whilst a nurse was cannulating my arm. Really poor experience, not like their reputation. Have to call back Monday and get my medical records amended to the right notes. When I asked to speak to the manager I was told I could write them on Monday.

I supported my wife to come to the ED yesterday and as usual we were not disappointed with the timely quality care she received by the ED staff. Short wait to be seen and was admitted that evening. We have in the past and always will attend the private ED for what we believe to be urgent Health issues and avoid the public Hospital waiting times when we can. Happy to pay the out of pocket expenses for the quick support. Thank you to the team.

The care from the nurses for my elderly 91 year old grandfather was appalling. He was not propped up for meals to eat food and wasn't provided with blankets, he wasn't assisted to go to the toilet and the pad that was provided by his wife was not put on him, his 87 year old wife can provide better care. For a private hospital, they should be embarrassed by the lack of service and care for their patients. This was 1 night stay and we will never choose to come back.

This is my first ever Google review as I don’t favour to spread or write negative opinions, but I feel compelled to share my experience. I admitted myself to the Epworth Private Hospital in Richmond on Sunday 02.02.2020 being examined from medical staff including a Surgeon and had several tests completed. The gentleman who took all my details at the reception advised me that I will be admitted to a ward as I will be staying in hospital. My diagnosis was simple that I’m in need of surgery, but it was still to be decided when to action this. After signing all the necessary documents for staying in the hospital I was then informed from another doctor that I would be going home. Long story short, for pain I was advised to take Panadol which I made clear is not enough for the severity levels of my pain. The response was swift and clear, if too much pain continued to persist, just come back, see us, and we’ll allocate you to a ward. Further communication with the surgeon Monday: The surgeon’s receptionist booked me for an appointment with the surgeon on Wednesday Monday: The receptionist called me 5 minutes later advising me that the booking has been cancelled & I’m already confirmed for a surgery to occur the next day (Tuesday). I filled out all the necessary papers and returned to the surgeon’s office and filled documents out on the Epworth website. Monday: The receptionist called me again cancelling the surgery as the doctor wanted to see me prior to the operation (he had already seen and examined me) I did ask why again changes are being made & was told that the surgeon will not operate on me if he feels that I’m not up for the operation! Monday: Received per mail my first bill for Anaesthetist $250 Monday: Clerk from EPH called me to explain my excess of $250 Thursday 13 Feb: Receiving Epworth pathology bill for $123.50 Thursday 13 Feb: Receiving Epworth medical imaging bill for $653.05 I have had several surgeries at Epworth Private Box Hill Hospital & felt honest care from the medical staff and cannot speak highly enough of my experience. On the other hand, speaking about the Emergency EPH in Richmond I feel totally lost with bills over $1000 to be sent home & take PANADOL !! and then being told if pain persists come back and visit us. I decided to change surgeon and Hospital & thus had an operation in the same week. I feel ripped off as a patient and cannot see integrity in the services and outcome I have received. Please note, I don’t question the skills of your medical staff but certainly have questions about the processes, communications, VALUE for MONEY & outcomes. A truly sad experience for a private patient!! This is the most expensive Panadol I have purchased in my life As I said this is my first ever Google review and probably my last one too.

Excellent hospital in inner city Melbourne. I went there to visit a friend. Parking was a challenge. However, once I found the front desk the information guy printed off a map of where I needed to go. The visitors lounge room had a great view and the staff were very professional and courteous. If you are going to get hit by a car I recommend the Epworth as the place to recover.

Sensational!!! Such a pleasant and wonderful experience for my daughter being her first time staying overnight in a hospital. Staff were extraordinary and had gone above and beyond with my expectations. The nurses and doctors are so caring and wonderful. Working in healthcare myself and working at another major hospital I could not find a fault even if I had looked for one. And wow the food was better than restaurant quality and the choices were endless.

I had an appointment with the imaging department 15 July at 11.30. I arrived at 11.15 in case I had to fill out any forms. After half an hour waiting (12. 00)I asked what is going on. At 1.15 pm I progressed to having the cannula put in. Great nurse. Why the delay?? Is it double booking, queue jumping, inefficiency..? I am nervous and worried about what is going to come out of these tests - should I have to deal with this as well? 1.20pm Still here in the cubicle unable to go to the toilet because I would have to lug all of my clothes and bag with me, and do not want to miss the person who will collect me. Going in now at - 1.40

Waiting hours in the waiting room with chest pain. No ECG or blood test done as they probably didn’t want to have to increase the triage category. I would encourage anyone who has had a similar experience to contact AHPRA so that this doesn’t happen to others. How an individual who presents with cardiac chest pain and a significant cardiac history at the same hospital cannot have an ECG or bloods within 6 HOURS needs investigation by an external body and that’s exactly what I’m going to ensure happens.

My first major surgery so nothing really to compare it to but I was mighty impressed with the service and smoothness of the procedures here. The care was mostly 10/10 and the nurse who looked after me the most was beyond excellent. She made me feel valued and I’m certain that her positivity rubbed off on myself and in turn is aiding my recovery. So thank you Miranda (I’m sure that’s her name, Elm 6 maybe but I can’t remember the ward exactly.) If you track her down please pass on my thanks. Would return for sure. #2NewKnees

Massive thank you to the doctors and to my 2CATO Nurses: Nurse Riva, Nurse Jess, and Nurse Francis who took care of me after my surgery. I was well looked after during my recovery. Food selection and taste were very good as well. It is my second surgery and I can’t help but be disappointed as I didn’t get a private room again. Last time, the patient beside me was having a coughing fit. This time, patients in the ward are snoring. It’s a bit uncomfortable sharing the space with other people. I’m not sure why they have so many wards instead of private rooms. Would be better if it’s the other way around.

Attended ED because our young daughter had unusual rashes on her legs. The nurses who attended to us were caring and reassuring, wait time was about 1.5-2 hours, which is quite long for private but I reckon it could be longer in our local public hospital. The doctors were very patient towards our little one, who was pretty stressed out and tired and they explained every single details to us, and made sure her blood pressure was normal and that she was properly diagnosed before sending us home a few hours later. Unfortunately I did not catch the names of the two wonderful ED doctors who took care of my daughter that evening (diagnosed with Henoch-schonlein purpura), but would like to say a huge thank you to them here.

She's truly helpful, she explained the procedure step by step and the level of customer service she provided to me as a new patient really amazed me, also she works with her heart and as a nurse I really appreciate her extra explanation to every single patient while we were waiting there, it was basically my first MRI and the team were so polite and caring by the way they play music while you are having your MRI scan so it was truly helpful. Thank you so much for your great service and I highly recommend this branch. 👌 Thank you all and Merry Christmas 2023🎁🙏

We recently had visited Epworth Richmond. The children's ward nurses and the theatre nurses (or other staffs) have all been superb, caring, attentive and patient. The best hospital food as per most review commented (heard from one of the nurse the chef was from a hotel). The facility on demand screen in the private room is such a life saver esp with a hungry toddler. The only downside was the operation delay has been long (ours in afternoon) and the poor toddler couldn't eat for more than 9 hours and 5 hours without water in the end. So if you are having your kid to do an operation, try your very best to get an early morning one. Overall, we had positive experience in EPworth Richmond.

Today was my first visit for an appointment at the Epworth and I had a great over all experience. Very clean hospital with friendly and professional staff. I really wanted to leave this five star review though because the two very lovely ladies at the information desk were so nice and cheerful and helped me when I was completely lost trying to find where I needed to go for my MRI. Despite a lady being very rude to them both as I arrived to ask for direction they were still smiling and and so helpful. Little would they have known but I am claustrophobic and MRI's are really hard for me, but there good sense of humour really helped shake off the nerves. I hope you ladies see this review and get the recognition you deserve. In my opinion your the face of the hospital and the first place people go for help and direction and I think your both doing a fantastic job. The world needs more smiling faces like you ladies.

My 7 year old son had his surgery here just the other day and besides the fact the surgeon was absolutely amazing and the anaesthetist was amazing. The actual hospital staff themselves were phenomenal. My sons is a very high needs disabled boy with a lot going on. They treated him so kindly and lovingly. They never showed any frustration at him at all. If they were frustrated they never showed it. He does not like hospital setting and he was very very difficult I was so tired and getting upset and they looked after me and reassured me and made me feel safe for him. Any decision they made was never in haste and they genuinely cared for him. It was the best experience at a hospital. Not to mention the food is ridiculously good. I've never felt so satisfied leaving a hospital as I did yesterday. They informed us about everything didn't leave anything out didn't leave me with unanswered questions or uneasy feeling. I can't thank the nursing staff enough.

I had two surgery’s with Dr Binh Thanh Nguyen . I am in recovery & thought to mention that he is a excellent Dr . Dr Binh & the nursing staff have taken care of me fully . Thanking the Epworth hospital staff as well & not forgetting the spread of food . Only thing Dr Binh took me a bit late for surgery but that is acceptable as it’s difficult to fix a time when their were other surgeries before me . So be prepared in your mind for a short delay if it so arise .

Had laparotomy and keyhole surgery last week with Dr Christian kentfield, top doctor and very professional staff, nurses was fantastic caring and the pain management planner that did fantastic job, Room was very clean and bathroom spring cleaned daily, food is awesome. The advice I might add is please be careful when sharing patients information with nurses on training/ placement!! I've been told I had something by a training nurse that I didn't know she wasn't qualified yet till I spoke to other nurse!! Basically the training nurse told me something about my condition that she wasn't supposed to talk about before my test results which could cause a big shock to someone who's still recovering from major surgery.

I had a rotator cuff repair at Epworth Richmond on Monday with a one night stay afterward. From the minute I walked in the door, I felt welcome. Every single staff member was smiling and helpful. After the procedure, I was in a private room under the care of incredible nurses. I wish I could remember their names (Victoria, Emily, Elaine ?) They were attentive but not annoying, doing their best not to interrupt my sleep. The food and food service were top notch! Everything was sparkling clean. I can’t say enough good things about Epworth Richmond!

I was discharged from the Bethesda West wing of Epworth Richmond on Friday 24th Jan at around 09:30hrs. I had chosen the Epworth for my Surgery based on what I had heard and read, all of which led me to believe that the Hospital had a Moral Compass and it’s Team Members practiced the principles of Honesty, Integrity and Empathy. Sadly, whilst it may be true of some, it is not of others. Whilst in the care of the Epworth Team, on the afternoon of Thursday 23 Jan, much to my disappointment, my expensive Apple Generation 3 iPad Pro Pencil was taken from my room. A thorough search of the room and my property, was conducted by myself and the Night Nurse, but to no avail, the Pencil was gone. Taken by a person unknown to me, whom I am most happy to categorise as being the “lowest of the low” a petty thief. I am on a Disability Support Pension and can ill afford the couple of hundred dollars to replace a piece of equipment that is of great use and value to me. Now, if you are reading this and you know of the theft but did nothing you are just as complicit in its theft as the one who stole it. ‘If you are the Low life” who stole it, then shame on you and understand this, you are scum in my eyes. Worthy only of my contempt and disgust. As for the Epworth Management, well you can make your mutterings of Sorry and we apologise for this happening to you. But that is as far as you see your involvement in this issue. That in and of itself says all that I need to know about the Integrity of your Organisation. As for the Nurse who was so quick to leap to the defence of the Epworth Team, let me say this.... to steal is NO accident. It is a deliberate a act, which may well be a “spur of the moment” one, but it is NOT an accident. Will I ever return to the Epworth for any further treatment....Not if I can help it Would I recommend this Hospital? Based solely on my experience there? No, I would not. My Rating for this facility... One ⭐️ And that is one ⭐️ too many.

My husband has had back surgery this week and I'm sure the care staff doctors and nurses have been fantastic. But as for their compassion for their compassion for the family has been very disappointing no call after surgery with any details of how it went I had to wait until the next day for a phone call from surgeon. And as we live 3 hrs away with restrictions it has been hard with no exceptions for a quick visit 😑😔😑

If there was a zero I would use it. Having been traumatised by my diagnosis wasn’t bad enough but then I had to deal with rude and uncaring staff in the imaging department is unacceptable. Dealing with 1 staff member twice now at reception, it was like being kicked in the face. Rude doesn’t even begin to cover it. She is suppose to be representing the hospital, whatever happened to compassion and caring? Out the window I say when I comes to this particular staff member. As for the radiographer, I waited 3 hours for an ultrasound that had to be done on the day, having dealt with the receptionist from hell, I then had to deal with this rude radiographer, I was finally called in and said to him I was just about to leave to which he said well if you want you can and come back another day! NO SORRY FOR KEEPING YOU NO NOTHING.

I have just had minor surgery at Epworth Hospital, and stayed overnight, and was compelled to write about my experience. Upon arriving and checking in and seeing my first contact with nurse (Emma) everything was so professional and personal, she guided me through everything and got me ready for surgery. Then I was spoken to by numerous nurses, my Anaesthetist, and doctor and they all put me at ease. After recovery I was taken to my room Level 5 Lee Wing. I cannot speak highly enough of the care, the food and every staff member I came in contact with, from nurses to food deliverers and cleaning staff, they were all awesome. You have created such a great culture of care in this hospital you should be proud of all staff members 👏👏👏👏👏

Don’t even know where to start with this place. Attended for day surgery at 6:30am with admission time for 7:00am. Still sitting around at 9:30am, told a pipe had burst in the operating theatre and they were awaiting on the plumber. Meanwhile a code red (fire?) in another theatre. Called in for pre-operation check with nurse. Went though the motions. Wrong procedure listed on paperwork and told I was staying overnight which was not the case. Nurse was not happy with me disputing what was written (procedure and being admitted overnight), quite snappy, barked at me then told me to go and sit in waiting room. Finally in for 12:30pm surgery, 5.5 hrs after scheduled. Had not had anything to drink for 9.5 hours. I was severely dehydrated and nauseous thanks to surgery delays requiring further interventions by anesthetist. Out of surgery and in recovery. Moved to ward for unknown reason (lack of space due to more surgeries going on that a sausage factory?). Arrive at ward and being told I am being admitted. Advise nurses I am a day procedure. Staff then wondering why I was brought across - all standing around scratching their heads. My bag was missing. Eventually advised I cannot go home until 5pm and need to order dinner. Ask where my bag is (wallet, phone, ipad) and nurses indicate they are not sure. Bag eventually gets located a few hours later after making 5 requests to staff to try and locate it. Have multiple missed calls from my post surgery lift who was rang by the hospital at 1pm saying I was out of surgery and good to go. No idea where I was and why I wasn’t responding left them worried and sitting around for 5 hours or so thinking something had happened. Get my discharge envelope and waiting for a nurse to tell me I am good to go. Wander around the ward, no nurses or staff except one attending to a patient. Stand at counter for a number of minutes. End up just walking out. Post discharge have complications with bleeding. Ring the “24/7” number provided that had no answer. I am quite resilient. Have had two previous surgeries at other private hospitals with no issues. But this whole experience has left my traumatised and suffering nightmares. Compounded by the fact I paid almost $2000 on top of my gold hospital cover for the experience. Won’t ever go back to Epworth nor recommend it to anyone, would rather drive 40 mins whilst haemorrhaging to the next closest private hospital and hope I make it.

I attended the hospital between 21st August and was discharged on the 27th August. I came in unexpectedly and was immediately provided a bed while awaiting scans. This turned out to be Appendicitis and I had surgery scheduled for the next day. I was placed in the Cardiac ward for the duration of my stay. My experience at this hospital was nothing but positive thanks to the outstanding nursing and medical team there. They were attentive, friendly, compassionate, and on top of all my medication, antibiotics, and blood work. A huge shout out to: Mira, Ben, Sara, Stacey, Felicity, Alyssa, Roma, Arlene, along with the rest of the Cardiac nursing team and also the trainee Nurses- You guys are a credit to the hospital and profession. Thank you Dr.Christian Kenfield and the team who performed the surgery.

We came to Epworth Private Hospital at Richmond today. Average waiting time 5-6 hrs, for a bed to get free. They charge compulsory $400 outpatient admission fees at admission, which is not covered by private gold membership either. Plus most other tests you do as an outpatient while admitted emergency is not covered either. Had no choice as I have been in and out emergency public hospitals 6 times within last 4 days( 6-7 hrs waiting period) and thought to try a private hospital, to diagnose the cause. Seems like service ( waiting time/ bed availability) no different to public hospital. No phone charges or drinking water available in the waiting room. One would expect basic necessities be available. Is it took much to ask ? Staff nurses are nice though … not rude. Hopefully Epworth with diagnosis my condition before discharging.

I have used the Epworth emergency department for my toddler and also used them separately for a surgery for her yesterday. The hospital is faultless. The nurses in the paediatric ward are the best in their field, the hospital is clean, the rooms are large and the food is fantastic. I will honestly never use another hospital again.

Had a great experience at Epworth Richmond. My cardiac surgery went off well. The staff were professional. The heating in the room was a bit high and I struggled to sleep. This is only reason that I didn't give it a 5 star. The head of the nurse station Charles Bonavia went beyond expectation. He escorted my family and myself to the car. He showed a lot of empathy and compassion. The food was better than other hospitals and many restaurants.

Nurses amazing not fault and you can see clearly they love their job and care … food the best high quality … top surgeons … but OT especially the one from UK who has no idea of Australian standards and care yet works there and the social worker who does not check on the patients status before jumping to conclusions should be eliminated from that hospital no compassion no care at all gives that hospital a bad name so only gave 3 stars and a star less for each of those 2 I’m appalled by their lack of compassion it was like how soon can we kick this person out like it was her own business … like she’s getting an award on how fast she could kick a patient out with hardly any plan for them at home had someone had not stepped in and demanded it

Planned to perform a 30-minutes procedure there and got a phone call from them a day before, advising that my admission fee is not covered by my private insurance and it is 2K AUD in addition to fees already paid. This was a late call, I did not have a chance to check with my ensurer one more time and did not have other choice than to cancel the procedure. Just wondering why they waited till the last day with this information. As soon as I registered my account they started to send me useless information about COVID19, but not a single word about admission fee.

The care taken by the Hospital and their team towards patients and visitors are too good and humane. This hospital is is the best example for Hospitality. I fainted in front of the emergency department from chest pain and lightheadedness after a suspected DVT and no one came out to assist. Not one staff member. After waiting for 2.5 hours in the waiting room I decided to go to the private emergency in Moorabbin where I got in straight away and was taken care of (normal for a private ER, and was cheaper than Epworth). Save yourself the $400 fee and just go to normal emergency if you're willing to wait hours to be seen when extremely unwell.

I was recently at the Epworth Richmond unit for an endoscopy, from the moment I stepped into the hospital's first reception until I entered the procedure room, all the helth professionals involved followed all protocols and were very attentive, perhaps the most "boring" part would be the protocol part of documents and pre-procedure checking... they make you sign several documents and several redundant questions, other than that the procedure performed was quick, the anesthetist and nurses were very professional, with no complications after my discharge, just dizziness which was expected. On average, the hospital service met my expectations

Great health care, which is the core function for a hospital. Thank you! Let down by poor catering. An example, breakfast today included stewed fruit - my choice. BUT on reading the packet, it is from China! What is the hospital management thinking? We have clean, green fruit grown in Victoria and we buy a product of indeterminant origin. BAD choice!

Nothing to do with the hospital service but found certain emergency room staff attitude is less than friendly. I live locally and always respect/admire the hospital staff's work. Today I was walking my small dog on Erin Street, she happened to need to do her business while passing the Emergency department entrance (at the edge of the curb, not blocking any people's way). She did not make a mess. While I was picking the waste up, a lady from the department rushed out and loudly told me I could not let me dog do business in front of the building as people are working in it. I understand there would be an issue if I left the waste out or my dog made a mess but it was clearly not the case. Also I am not sure what to expect to control their bowel movement? I am not sure if this is the hospital policy. And frankly this is the first time I heard about this. If this is the case, please put up a sign and let us know we would need to restrict dogs in front of the buildings.

Was my first overnight stay in a hospital and first major surgery in my 68 years. From the time of arrival, smooth and timely "check in" and care in the holding area to the the pre-surgery waiting area, I was well looked after and treated respectfully by efficient, professional and caring staff; I was well informed about the steps and risks in the procedure and given lots of opportunities to ask questions. Afterwards, back on the ward, the care was excellent and the nursing, catering and cleaning staff were kind and efficient! Even, the pharmacist delivered my take home medication in person! Great thanks to my surgeon Prof Danne and his colleagues who are clearly dedicated to their patients and work so hard for them. The food, which is important whether you are at home or in hospital, is important in sustaining morale, was great, arrived hot and the choice available is far better than most hotels! All this care and service was delivered in the midst of a pandemic, affecting medical and hospital staff even more than the rest of us, who must be super careful to avoid the virus. Would highly recommend Epworth if you have to have treatment in a hospital.

It is a hospital where you want to die, the people who work there are very bad, they have even dared to hit me as a patient, I do not recommend it at all, it is more if you want to die, it is the place that I recommend there are nurses who do not or who do not seem to like it a lot of work with patients if they ask me which one I would say with their name I am from Colombia but the medical service here disappoints me and what is more I think it is better in my country and I have never used it. I have been in this hospital for a year and the truth is that I have had very few good moments or nothing at all, if I were to put it that way, that is why I resorted to writing here because Internet users read anything before having a service and it is a good option to say it

I have nothing but praise for Epworth Richmond. I visited The ER on Christmas' eve with extricating pain due to ruptured appendix. Although I had to endure pain and long wait time, it was removed on that same day. Dr Osama Yoshjno did the surgery and I could only imagine what a mess the rupture had made within my abdominal area, he did an exceptional job because my recovery is fast. All the medical staff I met during my 4 day stay were very friendly and helpful which gives me a lot of confidence before and after the surgery. The lady who brought me meals was so kind and funny, I wish I could eat more. Although this incident was totally unexpected for Christmas but I am grateful for all your care. Keep it up. Glad I picked this hospital and not ended up with something more serious.

I spent the day at Epworth Richmond ED and couple of days ago and right from the minute we arrived they were fantastic. The nursing staff were absolutely amazing all day. Always checking on me and very attentive to my needs. The Dr’s were very much the same and did not give up on finding what was causing me to be there. Could not fault any of the staff at all and would recommend anyone that needs urgent medical attention to certainly head to the Epworth Richmond Emergency Department to trust them to look after them.

I don’t actually even know where to start . I think with the staff. That old saying “ You’re a product of your environment “ applies to this hospital. The environment the staff create for patients and their visiting families is outstanding. From doctors to nurses to cleaners to food staff no one at this place behaves differently. They are a team and treat each other equally. You don’t just see it you feel it . Jo Dalgleish is one of the top ED doctors in our country . I’ve worked and watched our best and she is up there. This woman treats the whole patient not just the symptoms you present with . She is first doctor then the friend every scared patient needs . She assessed my mother by listening to what she’d been through over the last 2 years . Losing her husband, her grief her torment . She held her hand and listened and then after what seemed maybe an hour I realised she was ordering the works in the background . She was watching her breathing . She could hear her nasty cough she knew exactly what was wrong with her from observing her . My mum got to chat and talk about her life while this kind doctor assessed her and let mum forget a bit about just how sick she had become . Not many people find their calling in life Jo Dalgleish found hers . She makes a difference. My mother had specialists jump straight in and work with her already assigned specialists. They all knew each other and only spoke highly of one another. One told her he was as mentored by her specialist he had taught him everything he knows . She felt so safe in their hands . These doctors got stuff done . She had let her health go when she was caring for my dad plus she likes to “ soldier on “ a bit . All the staff at this hospital wrapped her up in cotton wool while they were so efficient. Thanks to the staff at this hospital she is on the mend . And to Elliot the nurse . I’m so glad you left sound engineering and became a nurse the world is a better place having you in it . Nurses like you make change , your kindness will never be forgotten . Mum still talks about you all the time at how wonderful you were . Thankyou to everyone . Oh yeh and wait until you see the food menu it’s out of this world !!!

What a great experience here. My teenage son came in to the Epworth to have his wisdom teeth (4) removed. Easy check in. Wonderful nurses that took care of my son and made him feel calm and relaxed. He had a lovely room in paediatrics with TV too. 10 out of 10. 5 stars 🌟.

Private Rooms - I wouldn't have thought so. Epworth Richmond is an amazing place where the nurses are caring, compassionate and really look after their patients. The one star is only on the inpatient care facilities. If your looking for a private room in Epworth, it is all a bit of a lottery. You may be assigned to a 4 bed room and stay their the duration of your stay. Its got nothing to do with your level of private hospital cover or care, just the availability of single rooms. My last experience has been 7 nights in a shared room, it's ok, but it's the opposite of restful. You are at the mercy of other patients and their own alarm bells going off at any time of the day or night, their visitors, their mobiles or landlines, their individual nursing rounds for each person and the endless turning on of lights throughout the night. My specialist also operates out of another private hospital that only has private rooms(St Vincents) and I'll choose there if I have a next time.

I had a knee replacement a week ago I was very happy with the whole process from admission to post op care before going into rehab. Nurses are caring and dedicated and always smiling.

LI am writing this Google review to express my deep disappointment with the experience we had at Epworth Richmond hospital. We visited the hospital's emergency department a few months ago to have our son's ears checked, and unfortunately, it was a disheartening and frustrating ordeal. Initially, the doctor who examined our son assured us that his ears were normal and healthy despite my concerns about seeing white substances inside. Trusting their expertise, we accepted the diagnosis but couldn't shake off the feeling that something was amiss. Requested for a second opinion, we encountered another doctor who acknowledged the presence of the white substances but couldn't provide a clear explanation. They suggested it could be milk that our son might have poured into his ear, which seemed highly unlikely. Feeling perplexed, we sought a third opinion, and this time, the doctor proposed that it might be cotton balls stuck in his ear. With each doctor offering different theories, we became increasingly uncertain about the situation. Finally, after consulting a fourth doctor at the hospital, we were informed that our son's ears were merely in the process of healing, and his eardrums had popped. We were assured that it would resolve on its own within 4-8 weeks. Sadly, this was not the case, and our son's condition worsened over time. Fearing for our son's well-being, we decided to seek a specialist's opinion elsewhere. To our dismay, the specialist quickly identified the problem as candida aspergillus otomycosis, a condition that should have been recognized earlier by the doctors at your hospital. The lack of an accurate diagnosis despite consulting multiple doctors during our visit was distressing and concerning. As parents, we trusted that the hospital would provide the best possible care for our child, but the experience left us disheartened and frustrated. I hope this review serves as feedback to improve the training and practices within the hospital to ensure that future patients receive accurate and timely diagnoses. Every patient deserves the best possible care, and it is essential to address these issues to maintain trust and confidence in the hospital's services. Overall, our experience at was disappointing, and we sincerely hope that necessary steps will be taken to prevent such situations from occurring in the future.

I went on surgery and all the staff was very helpful and kind. Yesterday was a cold day and I was worried bcz I am always cold but I was satisfied with the warm room and the worries for this was over very soon. The Phisio Monique, Nhan the pharmacist, nurses like Diana, Rachael, Issy, Leslie, Heewon are adorable, incredibly caring and supporting. Sorry I don't remember all the names. Yoyo took me to the car park today with a smile in his face. They all are tremendous cares. Thanks for making my stay so easy. I was in a shared room of two when the nurse came at night to do the check up she was so careful to not wake up anyone. She took a torch an done the work. I don't remember her name but I thank God for her. She is a blessing. The only downside was to recover my clothes today from the locker. They did not know in which one it was. It took nearly an hour to find them.

The pathology team was extremely polite and friendly on the 5/08 first thing in the morning. I was so impressed with how everyone greeted me and made me feel comfortable. It was the best experience I have had in a hospital environment. After my tests the attendent recorded the information of where I needed it sent to. Unfortunately by the 15/8 I had still not received any communication about results being ready, neither had my psychiatrist. Then I called the Epworth and they said the results were ready and what would i like to do with them? Strange question since I had already given them the details to pass it on to. I then had to give the details again they faxed it through with zero apology or explanation. I am not happy that I had to chase up my results and not receive any explanation as to why, this means receiving my script was significantly delayed.

I went here for a TAC shoulder operation with Dr Eden Raleigh. The team took great care of me, breakfast was really good, espresso wasn’t bad. Very easy to get here by tram. When I went back a couple days later to change my bandage at the emergency room it was covered by Medicare.

I recently had ACL reconstruction surgery, Im a 15 year old girl and the Nurses that had helped me while I was there were incredible, caring, kind and friendly I was in the children's ward and whenever I asked for help they were there for me straight away. To add onto that the food was incredible I would like to give a big thanks to all the nurses because it was a scary night for me and they helped me out a lot.
