I've seen dozens of doctors at several clinics and organisations over the past 21 years, and my experience here was by far the most shocking, dreadful and gut wrenching time I've had during an initial overview of my situation. I was only 16/17 at the time, and spoke to a woman with short cropped hair, and a short temper and brutal manner. After only 20 minutes of being in my presence, she said I couldn't possibly receive weekly treatment and my only hope for EVER getting better was to remain there as an inpatient, or I may as well not bother. My parents were with me and we were all shocked by her dismissive, matter of fact manner when we'd made it clear we could not afford the inpatient therapy, and she said "Well seeing someone once a week isn't going to do it." and basically left us with an ultimatum. As we had no money we had to leave. But not before paying for the session, which was an insisted cash payment, so my parents had to leave me there shaking and crying as collateral while they went out and searched for an ATM. While I sat and waited, shocked and devastated by being told I'd never get better and crying uncontrollably, the girls at reception laughed about jokingly stealing office furniture until my parents returned with the cash so we could get the hell away from there. This single worst and most traumatic experience in "treatment" I've had in my life and none of us will ever forget it. It left me feeling more hopeless than ever before and I became seriously suicidal within the following few days, looking into a bleak pit of realisation that without money, no one cares until you're dead. Turns out people do care, but not this place. For anyone under 25 I highly recommend ORYGEN Youth Health.

Just another bunch of doctors who think their time is more important than everyone else's.

I've been interacting with Albert Rd for over five years, and have attempted to work through the difficulties with the service for most of that time, but at this point in time, do not feel safe enough to return. The staff are not adequately trained in trans and gender diverse healthcare, and constantly let blatant transphobia fly from patients and staff alike. Abuse was swept under the carpet and disclosures of emotional and sexual abuse dealt with poorly. None of this is okay. We deserve better, and ARC needs to be held accountable.

This place should be shut down. it puts all its money into a fancier building, they should look at their level of patient care None of the nurses have any time to work with the patients; they are overwhelmed as it is. They are mostly excellent nurses but they have far far too many patients to look after. Instead of giving patients a more upmarket venue, they should have employed 3 times as many nurses . - and paid them three times as much as the psychiatrists.

Possibly the worst place in the world. Purely in it for the money and control.

I have been told by mental health professionals (Psychologist/ CAT team) that I am 'unwell' and need to seek intensive treatment to overcome my destructive and often suicidal thoughts. Albert Rd clinic was recommended, but after reading these reviews it appears that this clinic will simply exacerbate my problems. Very sad.

Terrible clinic. Unethical and made me take a step backwards! Staff are not qualified to look after your mental health only do blood pressure. I was treated with no respect, I can’t believe this is a private clinic. Dr Kristin clayer is a bully, she even yells at the staff. This program may be good for substance abuse but if you’re suffering any mental health issues, do not step foot through the doors!

Absolutely terrible staffing. Would not recommend Kirsten Clayer to any family or patient. She is a horrible arrogant egotistical maniac. She does not allow families (who have been given permission) to ask questions about their loved one and then boots them out even when they are completely unstable.

Referred in for a psychiatrist assessment. Joe Chen proceeded to tell me nothing is wrong and it's reactions to the covid vaccine... Second opinion elsewhere found a real diagnosis and proper treatment plan.

I had believed this place had helped my daughter. However, since she has been home, she's worse than ever. No one treated her badly, but she always felt that she was getting in the nurses way if she wanted something from them. - the nurses are the main carers, given that doctors come in briefly. i asked about the ratio of patients to nurses, and found my answer, GREED and medicine do not work together, ams in our case, has left a very young person feeling as if her intense emotional pain means nothing to others,

Horrible experience with the admin team. I asked to speak to a specialist and they just palmed me off to a directory website after I was specifically refered here by my GP. I'm going to go somewhere else now after this experience. They need to get a new office manager or customer service team, they just wanted to get me off the phone and didn't care about helping me at all.

**PROSPECTIVE PATIENTS PLEASE NOTE** Please be aware that Ramsay Health psych nurse by the name of “Jas” is extremely unprofessional and is in the habit of insulting patients who come to her for help. If you are unsure which one she is, she is young, has blonde hair, and an exceedingly uncaring bedside manner. I’m unsure where she got her qualifications from or whether she even has the appropriate qualifications to perform this job, but after what I have seen today, her ability to do this job has been seriously brought into question for me. I sincerely hope that Ramsay Health heeds this feedback and the feedback I have already provided on her level of “care”.

I've been hospitalised here twice since 2012 and bar a few nurses most I've found most to be kind and helpful, as well as inpatient workshops. Their DBT program seemed pretty effective though they seemed unprepared that I was at the time too disruptively anxious to attend them productively. It's unfortunate this was after I was denied an inpatient referral while I told Dr. Wu I was suicidal and being abused in my workplace. I must note I'd been referred previously by a different doctor and have never been offered applicable help from Dr. Wu to equal the grief she caused. I was told that inpatient was effectively a vacation and asked 'what for?' after she was aware that I'd been unable to attain sick leave for months without risking my job and qualifications and after begging my employers. I'm confident I would have thrived in DBT were I not bullied out of my career, and I am now legally unfit to work from c-PTSD among other preventable ailments. I stopped attending sessions as she was cold, argumentative, antagonising and unwavering when I expressed discomfort. I've since found a new psychiatrist elsewhere who is assertive and frank whilst also being kind and encouraging. I would recommend admissions in inpatient, personally. They benefitted me well when I was allowed them, though be prepared to be assessed unfairly and if you have poor assertive skills, vocabulary or executive function I'm certain these will be exploited by your incredibly wealthy and academically-proficient psychs. After many, many discussions with inpatients and outpatients alike it seems clear that Albert Rd psychiatrists in general are snotty and rude with little regard for their patient's emotions. Not one patient I've met has felt comfortable recommending their doctor to anybody. I hope you have since hired new and better psychiatrists. Though this review is of my experience. Albert Roads psychiatrists seem to follow a model that their doctorate excludes them from the human expectation of further developing their own psyches and mental health. I don't know what her demons are but they do not belong in my financially crippling sessions. I would call her malicious, though I believe true malice is rare in humans. It is laziness, it is ignorance, it is complacency. It is negligent exploitation of the disabled for profit. C'est la vie. Whistle while you work. Another day, another dollar. I'm interested to know why I shouldn't see things this way. Will I get a refund for the discrimination and trauma I faced from Anne Wu? Will I get an apology for the way she fought with me, condescended to me, then asked /why/ I was crying? Will Albert Road dedicate itself to making their services accessible to patients without carers? I would like to be convinced otherwise but cannot risk contacting the clinic alone without FIRM ASSURANCE. The strides I have since taken in building my own resilience without her negating any and all of my anecdotes of feeling triumph or pride are far too valuable. My health is too valuable and thus this review is my only respite. My only justice and my only voice. TL;DR: Sex workers avoid this doctor at all costs. Hour long appointments are unproductive, insulting and halted after 45 minutes or less. Ps. My genuine compliments to the Chef.

Was referred to Dr. Saroja Krishnaswamy as an outpatient for psychiatric care. I've had two appointments - an hour long telehealth appointment and a half-hour telehealth appointment. In my first appointment I was very apprehensive and anxious about seeing a psychiatrist and wanted to start the session by asking some questions and expressing my concerns. I made clear that there were a few things I wanted to talk through before starting in order to feel comfortable and prepared for the appointment. Dr. Saroja gave me the space to raise one of my concerns but then seemed to forget that I wanted to talk through a few things and immediately proceeded by asking me to answer some questions about myself. As someone who has had some difficult experiences with mental health care I needed to express that I have difficulty trusting medical professionals and am easily discouraged and need a lot of reassurance, but I wasn't given the space to do so. I also wanted to ask for a recommendation for a trauma-informed psychologist since my previous psychologist discontinued practicing very suddenly, and Dr. Saroja was unable to recommend anybody and insisted that there are hundreds, if not thousands of good psychologists out there that I could see. She then suggested a clinic I could look into, which upon researching was simply a general practitioner. I struggled an awful amount to understand what she was saying through the session and felt like I was being rushed along, and didn't feel like I was given the space to ask questions and get myself comfortable. I understand psychiatrists have a lot to get through and are aware that their services are hard to come by and expensive, but if I am unable to feel comfortable in my appointment then I do not see how any outcome is going to be helpful. In my second appointment Dr. Saroja recounted to me the information I had told her in my first appointment and got a significant amount of it wrong, which I did not find reassuring, including what medications I had been taking and what other services I was accessing as part of my treatment. She got me to do the k-10 a second time, like we did in the first appointment - I do not entirely understand why and to what benefit. She then suggested another anti-depressant I could try taking in addition to the one I was already on as prescribed by my GP. She asked me how I felt about starting another medication but didn't give me the space to express my apprehensions and told me to simply "think about it", and recommended I try the medication and have it managed by my GP, unless I'd prefer to book in with her again. She didn't seem to be interested in hearing about the previous medications I had taken or my experiences with them, or my need to be closely monitored on new medications due to being very sensitive to psychoactive medication in the past. I asked about getting a comprehensive assessment but was told that she would be unable to do that, and that her assessment of me (doing the k-10 twice) would be enough to treat me. She was not interested in seeing the results of the screeners I had done. Overall I did not find the session useful or reassuring at all, and found that Dr. Saroja's approaches to treating mental health simply did not align well with what I needed. I didn't have any space whatsoever to ask questions or raise concerns, and found that when I did ask questions the answer was often confusing or not very reassuring.

Overall Rating of 2.4 says it all. I should of checked here first. My 3rd visit with Doctor Fong and he had forgotten what he asked for, from the previous visit (should've taken a case note) He's most definitely condescending & now wants a 4th appointment for diagnosis. I should've checked his reviews first but was desperate to find a psychiatrist. I cancelled 4th appointment and will look elsewhere. He's is most definitely stringing me along and would no doubt schedule a 5th appointment. Either a Ramsay Health buisness model or the reason I got into this psychiatrist quicker than any other.

Dodgy triage. My son currently with orygen. He requires assistance with social anxiety. The psychiatrist at orygen gave a Dodgy reference for my son to get stuck with orygen and very minimal care. The staff just went by the psychiatrist referral. The clinic could not be bothered to verify the information with me. I will report this to the goverment. These clinics do receive funding from the government for mental health. They would however gladly admit drug addicts and help them.

We live in an insane society, run by psychopathic mass murdering criminals who have stolen the land and its resources reducing us to landless debt ridden debt slaves. Health care education etc are bare-bones pitifully funded and staffed by often under-qualified/incompetent staff...with some exceptions, those for whom their vocation is something they do because they do care and its not about the money.

WITHOUT PREJUDICE I suppose I should state from the outset that I walked out (discharged myself) @ around 10:30 pm on Thu 12 Sept '19 after only 7 days. Being a 73 y/o war vet I'm not new to places like this one, and in various Aust states too. I'd long held the view that I've been to the best of them over the years. (around 35 voluntary admission, no grog & no drugs, ever.) But, ARC is good, er... excellent. I didn't say 'perfect' because nowhere is. IMO this place really shines and if anywhere else in the world is better please email me. Little things first. The rooms and furnishings are all new and couldn't be bettered. If you can find better grub then you're in a 5 ⭐ hotel. Three doors away is a tiny but loaded mini-mart with good prices. Now for the nitty gritty: The nursing staff are the best I've come across in 40 years, not all are equal, of course, but if you don't like this mob then you probably OWN a similar facility. Truth is, not once did I hear a patient complain about the psyche nurses. Mine were all close to 98% IMHO. Some were 110% !! If, if, all of the Doctors are as good as the nurses (I met only 1 Doctor) then this place is surely perfect. Couple of huge TV's with all the free to air. Sadly, despite assurances prior to travelling 200km, my room had no TV and I needed it because having some recent injuries I really need to watch the TV laying down as sitting is too painful. But, having some real lovely fellow patients I trekked to the common room and sat it out with them. I was admitted because of severe war neurosis and suicide ideation and severe pain from hip and knee injuries but I walked out because my Doctor was not prepared give me decent pain killers despite MRI's of hip, knee and spine clearly showing cause for severe pain. He felt that I should wait (another) 5 days until the surgeon had seen me and let HER or HIM decide how to kill my pain which ranged from 5 to 8 on a ten scale, virtually 24x7.... the mri's showed severe injury. I have no history of medication abuse. On edit: My surgeon, now 7 weeks later, has me on 100mg Palexia twice daily and taking my own life is less likely than it previously was & surgery is happening in two weeks time. For some people Panadiene Forte' is good stuff.... but the severity of my injuries caused Forte to be useless. When desperate once a week I'd take 6 with (probably only) placebo effect. Must be nice to have one's own 'script book. If I sound like I'm a whinger then google the reviews of a Mr Magdhi Ghali, an ENT surgeon in Burnie Tas, HE, like so many other doctors was bloody wonderful. Ditto my review : Bayside Psychology at Mt Eliza. All in all the establishment i. e. Albert Road is "AS GOOD AS IT GETS" !! ADDENDUM a month later : Didnt want to mention the fact that my psychiatrist, during consultations, impressed me with his apparent need for sleep and also in his general lack of interest in me. It would be wrong of me to not make it clear that he was a very pleasant and affable chap and not once did I get the impression the he thought himself above me. However he seemed to simply not care and I imagine that if I'd taken my life whilst still a patient he'd have quickly forgotten about it. It is a fact that ... "Generals and Surgeons bury their mistakes and usually with impunity" I've yet to hear from "Amanda" in management about two months later. Speaks volumes. Were it not for truly dedicated psych nurses then Ramsay would not exist. .. "chains and their weakest links". How badly I want to mention this gentlemans name but one needs to exercise restraint and allow time for apologies. Thank you Brian R Metcalfe. Edit: 7 weeks later, if Professor Malcolm Hopwood had contacted me after i walked out then clearly his nodding off would have had an underlying cause and my assessment of his disinterest in me would have been different. I desperately wanted to NOT mention this gentleman's name but even Professor Malcolm Hopwood needs to be bought to book. Thank you. Brian R Metcalfe. c. c. Dept Vet Affairs.

I have severe allergies and went into anaphylaxis twice during my admission. None of the nurses knew how to use an epipen to save my life so the student nurse had to show them how. He was able to use it the second time, but stabbed it near my knee instead of in my thigh. Then the second time, a clinical nurse consultant triggered one of my epipens accidently whilst trying to work out how to use it. Luckily although not using it in the right place, she eventually worked out how to use my second one. All I was told from my nurse unit manager was “we are trying to arrange some training for staff”. Which could take months so that essentially means nothing to me. I have had to bring my own practise epipen in to show nurses how to use myself. This basic first aid skill is taught yearly by teachers even though they don’t dispense new medications like these nurses do to patients all the time and anyone at anytime here could have a severe allergic reaction. By not ensuring staff have basic first aid training, I could have died this week. I feel extremely unsafe here now though.

DON"T GO if you want security and recovery. These people only care about money and reputation. They look at patients according to their books instead of looking at us as different individuals. I was kicked out of their program due to influence of another patients parent and I was treated horribly. They didn't inform my parents about the transfer before transferring me. It was an impulse decision made by them.My parents entrusted their daughter to the hospital and instead they found me in tears in another hospitals emergency ward. They don't do safety checks that much as I found a cutlery knife in a boards game and was left with a fan that had a cord in my room. They aren't professionals as they failed to keep my private stories in group therapy and instead other patients parents were told my hurtful experience/past. After 2 months of discharge I was never given any apology letter or call from the hospital. Instead I was apologised to on behalf of the hospital by other mental health facilities who were in shock after hearing my story. Please don't entrust your children with them.

My experience of this clinic was exceptional. The therapists are completely non judgemental and very supportive of individual needs. They are highly qualified and the group therapy sessions are professional, effective and I have learned very much about my own behaviour and where it stems from. The nurses are also non judgmental, attentive, regular in their care and checked in with my needs regularly. My treating psychiatrist saw me almost every day to review my progress and was highly supportive. The rooms are single and have an ensuite bathroom and are cleaned every day. The food has a good variety of options - it's not gourmet but well prepared and tasty. There are scheduled gym sessions with exercise physiologists, as well as 2 walks per day. If you have permission from your doctor you can have up to 4 hours leave outside of group therapy times. I would highly recommend this facility and my time spent here has greatly improved my success for a healthy future.

Uncaring is the perfect word for this so called mental health care hospital. I attended the DBT program for about 8 months. I persevered for as long as I could in the hope it would me cope with my depression and coping skills. The first group I attended was not run well at all. The second facilitator left a couple of months after I started, leaving the running of the sessions to just one facilitator. The remaining facilitator did not say very much and let the sessions be dominated by the more talkative attendees. After I could not stand anymore I made an excuse to go to another group. This group was well run and helpful with 2 much more sympathetic and organised facilitators. Unfortunately, the facilitator from the first group was my assigned one on one psychologist who focused solely on practicing skills in each session. Several times when I was upset she did not listen to my concerns or offer any kind words of support. Often, she would just look at me to get me to talk which I found most uncomfortable. The psychiatrist with whom I was assigned was unhelpful also. Her diagnosis of my condition and the medications which she prescribed for me was questionable based upon my medical history and discussions with her. The most noticeable feature of the medication was the amount of weight it caused me to gain. Each session covered the same ground as the previous one and I would often have to remind her of issues we had previously discussed. I felt that I was not being listened to most of the time. I would not consider returning to this facility.

I contacted in January about a referral. Heard absolutely nothing on their behalf and when I called I had some snarky comments that I was calling the wrong number (wasn't given the right number until weeks later). Its now 100% worse and I am furious that I am having to chase up and do their jobs. Save yourself the time.

Each time I am an inpatient at Albert Road Clinic I get the right treatment, all staff are wonderful and caring When I leave I feel so much better. Mote able to cope with life, be offered suggestions to help myself. It also amazes me how many doctors come to the clinic (mine does) on the weekend they are so dedicated. Veery dodgy triage. Some doctors advertise they are accredited here and are not? asking questions of triage gets nowhere. Horrible experience with Dr saroja, and following it up the admin showed no empathy, and refused to answer calls and emails, this is not a team suitable to working with vulnerable people. Disgusted by the ARC.

Izzy Osowicki is the most incompetent, old-fashioned psych ever, and he's worked here for years. The calibre of doctors is scarily low. The incompetence of reception. Hiring a bully like Izzy says a lot about this place. I would advise vulnerable ppl to seek out other places for support, psychiatric treatment has changed a lot in the last ten years - but at ARC it stands still in the 1990s.

I cannot fault this facility, it has provided me with the most therapeutic treatment I have ever received. All staff genuinely care about their clients physical and mental health, from psychiatrists, GP’s and top-notch clinical nursing staff, to the PSA’s and chefs who ensure the premises are spotless and spoil you with choice for food. There are many facilitated day programs to choose from, a great gym next door and twice daily walks - all essential for good mental health! The nurses do an incredible job of closely monitoring your physical and mental health, and take a genuine interest in your well-being, often taking the time to sit and talk through issues with you in a therapeutic manner. No demand was too much for them, and it was obvious they take genuine pride in providing clinically sound, respectful and judgement-free treatment. The treating psychiatrist was also available every morning to monitor and re-evaluate my progress, and discuss future needs. I cannot recommend this place highly enough - if you value and want to invest in your mental health, this clinic is the place to be.

Just completed the new Developmental Trauma Program. It has been the first program that I felt truly improved. I still have a long way to go and it was tough, but I had positive thoughts pop into my head for the first time and I felt like I was finally listened to and helped. All of the staff were supportive and awesome. It really helps when all communicate with each other and are kind, patient and supportive. I can’t recommend ARC and this program enough.

I attended Albert Road Clinic just yesterday as an outpatient (at the consulting suites). I had been referred to a very senior and eminent psychiatrist there. As I expected, the doctor was extremely capable. He clearly loves his field and truly values his patients. I felt that we got on very well. The outcome of the thorough 1.5-hour interview (consultation) was better than I had anticipated. I have rarely seen better work in my twenty-five years of journeying with these mental-health conditions. All staff whom I encountered were friendly and helpful, particularly the doctor's administrative support, who had put together a comprehensive and informative email to me at the time of referral. For all of these reasons, I will always remember the name Ramsay Health Care.

This place, described as the public hospital disguised as private. The only good thing about this place was one or two nurses. The groups are useless and not taken seriously, staff aren’t concerned for your well-being (apart from those very few). You already have judgements towards you based on your diagnosis, and the only therapy received will be from your psychiatrist (if you’re matched well with them). If you want to be treated like a lesser human being, this place would do the job. Honestly don’t know how I lasted a few weeks there. Do your research, Google this place, make an educated decision. There are podcasts on the internet about incidents at the clinic I think? This place just wasn’t for me. Also, please don’t reply asking me to email you. I very much doubt it would make a difference.

NEVER GO TO THIS CLINIC, GET A NEW REFERRAL, ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE BEEN REFERRED TO IZZY OSOWICKI. I have never felt so disgusted and humiliated in my life. I am in absolute shock by the conduct of what happened to me at this location. I was referred here for an assessment over 2 years ago. I got called by a receptionist who booked my appointment, and told me I would get a text reminder, so I didn't set the appointment in my calendar. I did not get a reminder, missed my appointment, and got called by reception. When I told the receptionist I was told I would get a text reminder, I was told I was never told that would happen, that I have wated the doctors time, and that she'll "see" if she can book me in again but had no idea when that might be. I never heard anything from this clinic again. About a month ago I made a review about the above situation in frustration. I had emailed the doctor and reception my referral again and didn't hear anything. I was called by the practice manager, Monica, who asked me about the above situation and said that my file does not exist in their system so it must have been another clinic who called me for the same doctor. On going back to my referring doctor, I found that I have only been referred to this clinic for this doctor. The clear answer is my file was removed from their database, and I fully believe this after my appointment. They went as far as to send me a follow up email stating that I was never referred to this clinic, when the referral literally has the clinic name on it. Fast forward to my appointment, which I had gone in specifically for an assessment per my referral. I went to reception and they asked me if I had filled out my new patient details in an email they sent me. I never recieved this email, and now I'm already questioning the competence of this clinic. I fill out my patient details on a form, and Dr. Osowicki comes out to chat with reception before talking to me. He and reception complained that my updated referral wasn't updated, when there is a huge section that says UPDATED INFORMATION with new diagnosises. Dr. Osowicki did not read this, nor did he care about any of the information in this and he called me in. Dr Osowicki asked me why I was there today, and I told him for an assessment. He said this is not the way he works and he won't just do an assessment for me, and we can maybe look at this after a few sessions. I was confused as that is literally what my referral was there asking for, but I agreed as I was already in the session. We then proceed with him deeply questioning me on why I want an assessment. I told him, and he kept on asking what else I wanted from it. I literally told him? He then laughed at me when I said I have trouble maintaining eye contact as one of the reasons why I wanted my assessment. He then asked me to list my family members for the ENTIRE session. He stopped me multiple times to do multiple questionable things, such as laughing at me because my mum hasn't kicked me out of home, arguing with me that he doesn't think I can afford these sessions, and then implied I'm a liar about the original situation listed. He then told me that I need to be independent and not rely on reminders for appointments. I finished the session and had to pay $490 to have my time wasted that severely. I threw his business card in the bin outside. I am disgusted by my experience here.

Dr Okedara Nice guy but not very helpful. Went to him for an anxiety disorder and was just told the same thing over and over again. Explained to him I've come to a psychiatrist for medication and not generic advice I could find on Google. Was just told to increase my ssri I am taking. I explained to him that causes an anxiety spike and can't risk that as it may effect my work. He replied "ohh really"when I explained the anxiety spikes. Just doesn't give me a lot of confidence when I heard that. Most know anxiety spikes when Ssri increasing dosage. He may help you but for me I don't feel like I'm getting better. lovely guy but I need help not a friend.

Dr Sarjoja Krishnaswamy was completely dismissive of a potential diagnosis which wasn't in her area of expertise anyway (adult autism). She claimed this is only diagnosed in children and wasn't interested in listening to any of my concerns or experiences which might point to this as a diagnosis as she had made up her mind. Most of the consultation was going through the depression questionnaire which I've done many times before and she concluded I was still depressed - not really an astounding diagnosis and I could have told her this. After suggesting I increase my current medication (which I have been told by another psychiatrist was the highest dose already), she then washed her hands of me when I advised her (out of due diligence) that I was recently prescribed another medication for a sleep disorder. She told me she didn't deal in Schedule 8 meds and told me my GP could manage me - which completely ignored the fact my GP had made the referral as psychiatry isn't a GP's area of expertise!! She also seemed to confuse the sleep disorder medication as being for depression - which I kept explaining it wasn't and I also assured her the sleep specialist knew I was on the other medication for depression and was comfortable with it. Left feeling completely upset and traumatised. Utter waste of money and back to square one with my GP now searching for someone else to refer me to.

I have been an inpatient to ARC twice and am going back for some fine tuning. I feel very well cared for from the nurses, GP’s, cleaner’s, maintenance and therapist’s. My psychiatrist is brilliant. I’ve made more progress in 6 months than what I have in 7 years under the care of someone else.

If I could minus as a score I would. No duty of care. Don’t bother asking to have time to yourself as nurses will just come in and annoy you waiting for you to do something wrong so they can ask you to leave. Don’t waste your time.

I’ve been coming to Albert Rd Clinic for 16 yrs and in the Parklands Adult Unit level 3. This stay 2023 I was put in the seniors ward Yarra East level 2, due to my health issues. it's all changing at the moment. But the staff working in the seniors unit are the same staff I've had and known for 16 yrs. So I feel very safe and like at home here. Every staff member is amazing and not just in my unit. They are so accommodating to my needs and always up for a chat if I need it. It's very clean, great group programs. I love Art therapy. I can't draw 🤣🤣 but enjoy talking about what I have attempted to drawn and love hearing others talk about what they have expressed on paper. They now have a little smoking/ vaping area outside. The big negative is the food arrives in a paper box so hot food is cold. But in saying that it's only for those people who can't eat downstairs. Plus there is a kitchen on every unit and a laundry too. The dining area has everything and the food is getting a lot better. Great vegetarian and vegan dishes. Across from the entrance has a beautiful sitting area surrounded by tall trees and a cafe close by. Also, there is a grocery shop and a massage place around the corner. Also a gym for the exercise group. If you need help and want to go into a mental health hospital. This is the place. Good luck and hope you get well soon Nina🙏🤗💜

Have been to other psychological facilities. But none made me feel as valued as this one. There is the help available that I need and they ensure ongoing support. Support is all one can ask for when going through a tough time. The groups are what I feel I need and hope to get the help to be a better version of myself x

I was sent a general referral to be picked up by one of ARC's psychiatrists. It took weeks and weeks and no one picked it up - I was told because the phsyicatrist i'd seen previously was so famous in the industry - everyone was too scared to contradict him. When I finally did get accepted and seen by a psychaitrist she told me I should not mentione her to name to that psychiatrist - so he wouldn't think she was contradicting him. She literally cared so so much more about her networking in the industry than about hearing me. The receptionists were also horrible, inept and cold. This is the worst mental health hospital in Victoria.

Most uncaring disgusting place to go to for help. A 5min call charges you $250.00 if you dont pay you dont get your script for medication you need. Should be reported to the medical board. Total an utter disgrace.

I can only speak of the Ramsay Albert Road Clinic (RARC) in the highest regard. Exceptional reception, utilities, catering, therapy, nursing and medical teams; all to be commended. RARC helped me accept that it is OK to live with mental health matters. The therapy team provided practical skills to manage my mental health and stress related conditions... I struggled for over 30 years in complete alcohol and substance fuelled denial; living life in altered states of reality. I chose to hold onto my guilt and shame, and I blamed everyone and/or anything for my pain and suffering. Everybody struggles in life. Some of us, at times, just a little more. If you are struggling and ready to take responsibility for your mental health pain and suffering, the Ramsay Albert Road Clinic can assist. Greg Riley

If you have an addiction or are suffering from a mental illness, you have found safety & a solution, here. This hospital has literally changed my life forever. The nurses are so kind & wonderful, some are great to share a laugh with. This hospital is light years ahead of the public system, which unfortunately is broken(From my own experience). The food is fantastic... healthy & delicious. 3 course meals at dinner... and you can always go back for more! "Fish & Chip Friday" is a favorite amongst patients...The therapists are fantastic. Highly skilled and provide incredibly important classes every day. The skills you learn in these classes (9:30-3:30) set you up to survive & thrive once you are discharged. Continued outpatient day groups provide more support as well, if you wish. The patients you are with, will leave you with lifelong memories. Everyone is friendly & kind... everyone wants to get better.. I've had some of the most fun times in my life hanging with the smokers outside at night with music via Bluetooth speakers... (doors shut @ 9:30pm) The hospital has implemented fantastic environmental standards. Recycling is everywhere, take away utensils are wooden, no plastic or Styrofoam cups/containers... dining room cutlery is steel. Medication cups and pill containers are all paper, (so biodegradable). Non-smokers have fun together inside at night, watching Netflix etc. on the many large screen TV's provided. Multimedia and whiteboards used by the therapists during classes make things interesting. ACT & DBT therapy seems to be the preferred therapy used here. CBT is used sometimes..The therapy can really challenge you, but it's a safe space to let all your emotions out, & learn from others. There is a program for mental health patients and a different program for addiction patients...Supervised group walks are provided twice daily. The botanical gardens, the Shrine of Remembrance and Albert park lake are the places you will enjoy on your walks. Unaccompanied leave is granted by your psychiatrist, so it is possible to go to a restaurant or see friends or family on the weekends... A fully equipped gym with a qualified gym instructor is available for an hour 3 times a week. Yoga is provided once a fortnight.. You will be pleasantly surprised by the private room with ensuite bathroom... but, BYO toilet paper (if you are fussy like me!) LOL! If you are in the addictions stream, like I was, you will be regularly drug tested or breathalyzed.. At $1,500 per day, the price can seem daunting, but is covered by your health insurance. My personal health insurance is $3,500 per year and my insurance company has paid for about $200,000 for me over the past 6 years staying at this hospital with NO gap fee. My personal psychiatrist is fantastic here.. continuity of care is essential.. I've been seeing him for 6 years. This place will save your life and enrich your soul!

I had a good experience here. It was in the middle of renovations, so that was disruptive. However, the nurses and therapists were caring and helpful. The doctors were more disconnected. I got the help and diagnosis I needed. I am now attending an outpatient program at the same clinic. It's good to be able to go somewhere familiar.

As a Melbourne resident who has experienced many different psychiatric hospitals (private and public), Albert Road Clinic (ARC) is by far the most superior hospital I have been fortunate enough to go to. With complex PTSD and other mental health issues including addiction, I have always been treated with dignity and respect. For me it is a safe space and I have learnt and grown so much as an individual there. I strongly recommend ARC to anyone needing assistance. For me, I know I feel safe to return at any time I feel vulnerable and it is okay to ask for help. The psychiatrists and nursing staff I’ve experienced are nothing short of amazing. I am so grateful for all the professional care I receive there. I recommend ARC above all other psychiatric hospitals in the Melbourne region.

Extremely rude staff there. I had a reference for a Dr there. I phoned them and sent it to them with the email address THEY provided. After 1 week of no response I rand up a number of times and left a message. Still no response and no call back. After a few more days I called again and finally got an extremely rude receptionist who denied ever receiving an email or a phone call (despite the fact that I have the call records and email records) and refused to receive the referral. You need to take a serious look at your receptionist there. I have never dealt with someone so rude in my life.

I’ve never been an inpatient at this clinic, but I’ve seen four different psychiratrists at the Private Clinics (First Floor Suites) over the past 25 years or so. I’ve never felt the need to change psychiratrists because I had a “problem” with them, only when the one I was seeing was leaving the clinic. However, whenever this occurred, the psychiatrist I’d been seeing always recommended me to another psychiatrist based at the same clinic, & provided my new one with a good “handover” of my conditions, & my current (& previous) medications & other treatments etc. The quality of care that I’ve received from all the psychiratrist’s has varied a bit, but for the most part it has all been good to excellent. As I have a reasonable knowledge of the complex interrelationships between my physical & mental heath, much of the variability in the quality of care I received seemed to be due to differences in how long it took for my new psychiatrist to accept this, & to get a reasonable understanding of how these interrelationships worked, and the background behind them. This in turn effected the length of time it took before I felt comfortable enough to fully “open up” to them. This time varied from a couple of appointments over a month or two, to half a dozen (or more) appointments spread over a year or more. Depending on which psychiatrist you are seeing (or trying to see!), it can be difficult to get an appointment here, especially on short notice, however, once you’ve established a ongoing relationship with a particular psychiatrist, this seems to improve (or it always did for me). Therefore, if you need to see someone quite often (ie. weekly or fortnightly), especially when you first see someone, then it’s best to make a ‘series of appointments’ well ahead of time, or straight after your first one. Alternatively, if you only need to see someone on less frequent basis (ie. monthly or less often), then it’s best if you just make your next appointment as soon as your current one finishes.

I’d give zero if possible. I called to specifically check if they were taking ADHD patients. They said yes send your referal to this email. I made an appointment with my doctor and sent it and 4 days later they decline saying they’re not taking new patients. It’s so distressing trying to get help and getting the wrong information, so then you waste your time seeing your doctor and have to go back to square one. Get the info right from the start.

Web site clearly says Young Persons Mental Health Unit 15-30 years old, but when I rang to confirm my son's admission I found out it doesn't takes adolescence over 18. This web site is incorrect and I asked for it to be updated on the 18/9/2020 and it still hasn't been done. It has caused my son extreme distress and anxiety thinking he was going in to a unit with people his age and then to find out it was not so. The lady I spoke to had no empathy and seemed annoyed. She shouldn't be working in mental health

This place has been a second home for me to visit one of my parents who has a mental illness. Without this place, I highly doubt that they'd even be alive today. The doctors and nurses are all so great and friendly, and they're also highly skilled as you'd want them to be for such an highly regarded clinic.

The care I have received at Albert road Clinic has been excellent - from the Nurses to the therapists, cleaners, dining room staff and of course my psychiatrist. It is astounding that the staff are empathetic and non judgmental. There is no other place I would rather be in recovery - safe, well fed (Mostly!), and treated as an important human being. Congratulations on great work during difficult times.

Definitely don’t recommend this hospital to anyone. After spending hundreds of dollars to get a referral, i wasn’t able to reach the referral team for weeks. When i finally got through to them, they told me that they saw my referral but no doctors are accepting referrals for ADHD at the moment. Honestly such a waste of time, only to go back to square one where i have to look for a new clinic to get referred to. After being off my meds for months as I was diagnosed and treated for ADHD back home, it has been a struggle to get medicated again here, which has been such a distressful period of time. It’s funny how these hospitals completely disregard conditions such as these, completely ironic when the basis of adhd is the lack of attention, motivation making it difficult to seek help when the process is so long and frustrating.

Saw my psychiatrist daily. Wonderful nurses, and great therapists for group therapy. Modern facilities and not over crowded with people like most other private inpatient psychiatric facilities (such as The Melbourne Clinic). Rooms cleaned daily by cleaners. Been to many other clinics and Ramsay Albert Rd is by far the best.
