Amazing, qualified and helpful staff and they are doing their best to cope with the ever-increasing volume of patients from the fastest growing part of Melbourne. The hospital is old and under resourced in terms of spaces and the number of available beds, but apparently upper management are doing their best to cope. There are construction projects to expand the hospital which will have finished by 2019. This will hopefully solve some of the problems and address some of the complaints you must have noticed among the reviews here. My best advice is that if you are able to avoid this hospital, don’t hesitate or think twice.

I was a patient at the children hospital at Sunshine Hospital. I with treated with tremendous care, but most reviews suggest otherwise. I was looked after by several nurses in several different wards. The nurses were caring to me any way possible. The food was yummy and the staff were treating me fabulously. I would suggest the children’s hospital to any child that needs hospital support. Thank You! Amazing job! 5 Stars.

Went to the emergency department for my dad who had excruciating stomach pains - to the point that he was groaning in pain. Just to be met by the nurse receptionist with absolute ingenuity and no compassion for patients. She was yelling at us to go wait in the waiting room when my dad could not move due to pains. If you don’t have the genuine kindness and patience, with absolute compassion to be a nurse then I suggest you go find another career. Absolutely dehumanising experience at a place you would think you could trust in.

Worst Public Hospital service ever! Took our mum in to ED where she was going in and out of consciousness and almost passing out but had to wait for almost an hour to speak to the nurse. The nurse at reception was the worst healthcare professional I have ever seen! and frankly think she should be reprimanded for her horrible service! She's in the wrong profession for sure! Mum could barely talk and almost bumped her head while being admitted and being asked question by her, but this nurse could care less ! Absolutely disgusting and appalling service was given by this nurse. She did the absolute bare minimum even though see could clearly see how unwell mum was. Spoke very rudely to myself and dad and said we have to leave more than once in a very rude tone (could have explained politely visitors cant stay but no, her demeanor was very condescending and arrogant), not one ounce of empathy was shown. We felt she was not only extremely lazy but also racist. After they did all the admin details which took time as mum was deteriorating ,they finally admitted her around 10:30pm. Only for me to receive a call from my mum at 5am telling me that they decided to discharge her and we had to come pick up or she'll be left to wait. The nurse or doctor never bothered to inform the family or provide any update what so ever, so I don't know why they wasted time getting emergency contact details if they weren't planning on contacting us!? When we came to pick mum up, she did not look any better , I was shocked to see that that they made her walk out by herself in the state she was in , still barely able to walk! No decency to send a nurse to help walk her out and give us any feedback as to what happened or what treatment they provided! After taking mum home she continued to get worse! So we took her to our local GP and immediately was told that SHE SHOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN DISCHARGED after assessing her condition and that the diagnosis given doesn't make sense to her symptoms, we were told to take her to Royal Melbourne hospital instead to get her properly examined. So that's what we did and wow the difference in service is astonishing to say the least! Mum was given so much better healthcare and treated with respect and empathy. The way we were treated at Sunshine was despicable and should never happen to anyone , especially during such stressful times! Never going here again!

Going to shame this woman publicly for her rude behaviour to my family on the 06/10/2023. Located at the Joan Kirner Women & Children’s department, my family & I asked for directions to see my aunt who recently got admitted to the hospital. Had to walk back & forth because some staff at Sunshine hospital were inconsistent with telling us where to go, how to get there - eventually making us confused and restless. My cousin spoke very calmly to her asking for her assistance but she did NOT respond well: 1) she did not use her indoor voice, spoke obnoxiously loud & even blurted out his address. 2) no smile, or any welcoming behaviour from her. I did not say anything because I did not want to cause a scene, but my family members all noticed it. My grandma didn’t like the way she served us & pointed that hospital staff should be friendlier. Luckily, my aunty spoke on behalf of all of us & told her off, saying to her that her customer service was rubbish & that she needed to do her job properly. Go home, retire & let someone take over who ACTUALLY can do their job because clearly you don’t. Even this woman at the MAIN reception was obnoxious as well since i haven’t stepped foot in this hospital (over a decade ago) and may have lost direction but at least SHE smiled. I don’t ever like to publicly shame someone, but if they’re rude to my family or anyone else i care about it’ll be an exception. My family members are soft spoken, to be given such rubbish service from both main reception & Joan Kirner department is utterly despicable. I’m glad my aunty told you off.

Dealt with terrible, uncaring staff who are supposed to be health care service providers. I had to take a relative to emergency department of Western Health in Sunshine where staff were rude when I asked simple questions such as where to obtain test results. My relative had to wait in the waiting room for more than five hours, whilst throwing up, experiencing cold sweats and dizzy spells AND STILL wasn't brought in. The following day, I spoke to a staff member who was so rude and cut me off several times as I explained my situation over the phone and hung up before I could ask any more questions. It is poor and unprofessional practice to assume everyone has the same level of health literacy and to treat worried family members of patients with such unnecessary irritability. I would think that a health care institution would have better training standards and employ empathetic professionals.

My 5 month old baby stopped breathing today, I called triple 0, they took 15- 30 mins to get here which is understandable but the paramedics were so slow to get out of the vehicle. There was no rush or sense of emergency while my baby was struggling to breathe. My son regained his breathing but still had swollen eyes so they then took us to SUNSHINE HOSPITAL. The doctor didn’t seem confident in what she was telling me at all- she replied to most of my questions with “I’ll have to ask my boss”. Then a nurse nearly dropped my son and just caught him in time before he hit his head on one of the steel rolling tables. We were then kept waiting for an update on if it was an allergic reaction. She kept us waiting while she went on her lunch break- I heard the other ladies discussing it but when she returned she claimed she was with another patient. After everything, the “doctor” suggested going to my gp to find out more and to find a specialist through them. Isn’t that supposed to be your job? My partner and I are considering moving just so we are closer to a hospital that actually knows what their doing. The doctors and nurses that I saw today made me lose trust in Melbourne’s medical services. I fear for my families well-being knowing that there are unqualified doctors and nurses working at our hospitals. If this were to happen again, I find no relief in knowing that the ambulance is on its way.

I was admitted via the ED due to a medical issue and I haven't had such an efficient experience at any hospital in Australia. The staff were patient, kind, had great bedside manner and the doctors were very quick to see each patient. It's a newer hospital and has a great feel to it and the amenities are clean. Sunshine Hospital is definitely one of the best hospitals I have been admitted to.

1.10pm appointment for vaccine. Waited in car until 12.50 since most places don't like you being early. Welcomed by a queue more than 100 people long waiting for their appointments, and absolutely no chairs. I qualify under disability, one of which prevents me from standing more than a few minutes without fainting. Not accessible to people with disabilities at all!

I am writing to express my deep concern and disappointment regarding the treatment for my pregnant wife receiving at Sunshine Hospital. Unfortunately, our experience has been far from satisfactory, and I feel compelled to bring these issues to everyone attention. Firstly, I must highlight the inadequate level of care provided to my wife during her stay at sunshine hospital. It is distressing to witness the pain she endured and the lack of attention she received from the medical staff. As a patient, she deserved to be treated with compassion and receive the necessary pain management to alleviate her suffering. Regrettably, this was not the case. Furthermore, I am deeply troubled by the false information that was provided to us during our time at Sunshine Hospital. It is essential for medical professionals to be transparent and honest in their communication with patients and their families. However, we experienced instances where the information provided to us was misleading, causing unnecessary confusion and distress. I cannot help but question the staffing levels and the availability of qualified doctors at Sunshine Hospital. It appears that the shortage of staff and doctors has resulted in patients, like my wife, enduring unnecessary suffering. It is disheartening to witness the impact this has had on her well-being and overall experience at your facility. I understand that challenges can arise in any healthcare institution, but it is crucial for a hospital to address these issues promptly and effectively. I sincerely hope that you take this complaint seriously and take immediate steps to rectify the situation. Patients deserve to receive the highest standard of care, and it is your responsibility to ensure that this is consistently upheld.

Pretty disappointed with what happened last night. I waited patiently for 5 hours to get stitches on my head, finally got called in for the nurse to tell me that they didn't have stitches or glue... This couldn't have been mentioned 5 hours ago when I was first assessed? Secondly, what kind of hospital doesn't have stitches or glue? It is one of the most basic treatments. Will avoid going here again.

I have seen many hospitals but Sunshine hospital emergency was the worst nightmare I have seen so far. I have waited for 2 hours on an ambulance trolley and later on waited 4 hours in waiting room over the night. At least I have left without talking any treatment form them, because the waiting time was too long and I was feeling sick. I thought, I rather die peacefully in my bed than suffering in this horrible emergency waiting room. In summary, an experience of a living hell!

My Daughter is 2 years old and got covid and had 41 degrees temperature. We called the emergency department because we were referred by the OCN to go there immediately for it was an emergency due to a very high fever of my Daughter. But the nurse ON the ER told us that it's only a fever why do we need to go there? How dare this batch nurse say something like that when my daughter is panthing and having a high fever?! I am going to call the ombudsman about this and for sure the nurse there will see the consequences out of it!!!!

I had to have an emergency surgery on the 11/11/2023. I just want to thank the Staff at the hospital for such a professional , polite and extremely well co-ordinated care from start to end . From arriving at the beginning and being interviewed by the first point of contact (nurse) and then the admin staff, both professional and friendly. When the nurse from the Emergency Department came to fetch me , she was brilliant in her care, after the Doctor saw me . She was so thorough and careful in attaching my drip for my medication . She was so careful in finding a strong vein to take my blood , and answering any questions I asked her. What an amazing nurse. The doctor was also polite and friendly and explained what needed to be done . One of the surgical team came to speak to me as well and told me exactly what the surgery was all about , also friendly and polite . They then moved me to a ward and the PSA staff member was friendly and polite. At the ward , there was a student nurse and she was so professional in her manner of asking questions and checking my Blood pressure , temperature and oxygen , she even went to find my wife a chair. When the student's shift ended , the nurse that took care of me was even more amazing , explaining what was going to happen and reassuring me , went with me to the theatre and escorted back after the surgery. Took great care in her treatment of me , with pain relief and antibiotics through my drip. I just want to say a big thank you to her. The anaesthetists were so thorough and reassuring as well as polite and friendly . Both were so willing in answering and explaining my concerns or questions I had .The anaesthetist nurse assistant was polite and friendly. The surgeon was great , helpful and friendly . Sunshine hospital is so clean and has great modern facilities and technology. Thank you so much Sunshine hospital for your great service from ALL your staff .

My husband and I were told to wait 6-8 hours in emergency section at night. The waiting room was fully occupied by patients that are in severe pain. If anybody needs emergency, it’s definitely worth going to another hospital in another suburb. Such a big shame.

My Aunt was admitted to this place round about June last year due to a fall at home, after spending weeks in there, she was conscious but weak, lost appetite to eat. They decided to put her in palliative care and given her 2 to 5 days to live. The family was pleading the hospital to send my aunt to the rest home where my mum stayed, so the sisters can spend the remaining time together. In the rest home my mum told the staff there my aunt 's having difficult to go to the toilet(constipated). I did not know what they did there .My aunt is alive and kicking. I am questioning about the Doctor that signed her off to the palliative care, where does she get her Doctor degree?from the gift shop perhaps!!! This is supposed to be a hospital for God sake, not a dead camp.

Worst hospital I've seen in my life. Both parents went in there and both never got out of there. This all happened within 10 months. Don't ever let them put a loved one in ICU. They don't look after you at all and I thought ICU was 1 on 1. My father was fairly old and it was like they just left him there to die. Never get any updates of what is happening. There was hardly ever a nurse there. Absolutely disgusting. On top of all that 2 weeks prior , they had changed his medication which I found out the next time we were in. How can they forget to give you a discharge notice or his medication Changes . It just shows the lack of communication they have or just being too lazy to do there jobs. There is no duty of care in this hospital. Stay far away.

So i went to ask the nurse for approximate time and she told me “Everyone here been waiting very long, and for you many another 6hrs, there are 10 people before you in the area that you are going” I was like “i’m in so much pain and i’m gonna pass out anytime soon” she doesn’t care she said more than happy if i’m leaving or up to me if i chose to stay. And that’s it !!! i told her to cut my name tag on my wrist then i leave! PS. old lady fall in the floor and they took sooo long to get to her and she can’t breath probably her body shaking and YEAH, SHE STILL HAVE TO WAIT! Only God knows how long !!

Reception, administration phone wise and in person is dog food. Plenty of errors with consultations, information, paperwork etc. Patients are made to attempt to chase up the hospitals own mistakes, confusing info. Doctors don't answer emails. Sorry you don't want to talk to the commoners.

We brought our 1 year old son here, and were very happy with the service. We had been at a strength hospital the day before and we appalled in comparison. The staff genuinely cared, and we got the attention we needed right from the front door through to discharge. Cannot fault the service. Only fault was the dirtiness of the waiting room, which was difficult with a little person wanting to touch everything

I attended the sunshine ER after being diagnosed with appendicitis. The first initial wait was 3 hours. I was then referred to there surgeon which I waited another 3 hours for. I the. Waited another 3 hours before I was told I need another CT scan which is terrible to have two in one week. I hadn’t eaten since the day before so they were starving me. I got the CT scan 3 hours after telling me I required another CT scan. I was then admitted and prepped for surgery. They had my CT scans the night before no doctor saw me prior to being prepped for surgery and injected with all these surgery injections such as warfarin which made me feel worse. This morning came and they told me chronic appendicitis isn’t an emergency. Whilst I listened to a conversation to of another patient who had gall stones which they refused to operate on because of his smoking and wanted to send him home. Don’t scare people with all this non sense and keep them in pain in hospital when you take 30 hours to get a result that you already had but you were too lazy to advise your nurse not to prep for the alleged unnecessary surgery. Don’t expose people to further radiation and blood thinners if you knew you weren’t operating. Disgusting. More damage than good here. Do not go here

What a nightmare of a place to get to. The sprawling complex is huge and signage is poor so you'll get lost the first time here. As in, appallingly bad: the only directional signage I saw for "Adult Specialist Clinics" was right before reaching it in one of the many buildings (I still don't know where I am, the PDF map didn't help). Thank goodness there is "quite a wait" since I arrived late having walked half way around the complex and back again.

The ED staff nurses on the reception area , so rude i am bleeding and still waiting since 2 am till now it's 5:17 am and i don't know when i will be seen by a doctor! Zero customer service and empathy They just gave me a pad and they are aware that my iron level are 4 and that's why i am light headed but still no care and the best thing the nurse would tell me to make it better for me is that some ppl are waiting for 6hrs here. People everywhere in the waiting room are sleeping on the most uncomfortable chairs! Just because i live in bloody melton everytime i call the ambulance they take to this horrible hospital.

Took my 2 year old into emergency and got immediate top level care. New children's ward and children's ER is well staffed and well equipped. Felt like I was in a private hospital. Thanks to all the staff. Negative reviews of Sunshine Hospital seem to be centred around the Adult ER department. I caught a glimpse of police restraining someone on the ground in the ER as we moved wards. I have no doubt this is NOT of the hospital or the staff's making. Little wonder the staff in there might not be at the top of thier customer service game with people like that coming in. I think most public hospitals struggle with things like this. Children get good care at sunshine hospital. Do take your kids in.

recommended and very bad. it took 3 hours to get my x-ray taken and 1 hour for them to tell me the results. after that, they went and the same nurse that was with me was with another patient around another 1 hour later the nurse came with 2 pieces of tape and taped my fingers together. they also didn't bother giving me a band-aid for the cut on my nose. one more thing these people were so bad they referred us to another hospital because they couldn't do anything.

Was a patient here while I underwent surgery. The nurses tried their best with the resources they had but it didn't help being moved around with extremely limited information on what was going on. One of the management nurses in the transit lounge was exceptional in getting me where I needed to be and went above and beyond their broken system they had in place, but the whole experience from beginning to end was exceptionally poor.

I had a great experience with all the women doctors and nurses and men nurses I met and had throughout my experience is the er and short stay…. My only bad experience was a Dr Raj in the short stay unit…. He came in and laughed at my pain, kept smiling and snarking under his breath every time I moaned or was doubled over in pain vomiting in my bed… I have severe hg morning sickness that I cannot control. When the ambulance came to my house they gave me fentanyl for the first time ever and when I got to hosp they gave me another two doses as it was easing my pain. This doctor laughed at me and said “well we can’t give you anymore fentanyl or opioids” like I was some junkie coming to hospital every Tuesday for another dose. I was so humiliated and told a nurse straight away about the way he treated me and the way he was acting about my sickness and not believing me. He then when I asked him why he was asking me inappropriate questions and told him to stop because I was in pain.. he just looked at me and left… didn’t say anything! And I never saw him again. I was immediately moved to a different room with a LOVELY female doctor who believed what I said and reassured me that from my blood tests that came back that they can see how much I’ve had been vomiting the past few months… Dr Raj get another job and I suggest you NEVER work with females in the medical industry ever again. I won’t let a man be this nasty to me since I gave birth and the man helping told me “he wouldn’t help me if I didn’t shut up” no more will men do this.. it’s ridiculous! HG morning sickness is very real and very valid. Update: like others have said in these reviews the ER staff need a review especially the doctors and especially this Dr Raj joke….

Went back to the hospital 4am the next day, I had to wait for another 12 hours in pain at the hospital Just to get a surgery, 36 hours later the broken fingers that started to heal had to be broken again to be fixed.

Hopeless on the phone. Unless you like queues and having to dial endless numbers as you're transferred around. A classic example of an organisation where the managers never call in to experience what callers are enduring. Half an hour of being placed in queues and dialing numbers for this and that and I gave up, clearly the intention is to reduce callers and associated costs.

Last time I was at this hospital was 11 years ago and i would really not be rushing back unless i was honestly sick. It baffles me how in 11 years, the situation is still the same. It is just ridiculously inhumane not to have proper access to health care. 11 years ago, i was sent back from this hospital and i was shouted at for coming back when my son's fever wasn't going down. I took him to RCH and was straight into ICU and he was so far gone in pneumonia, i almost lost him. It is so sad for Australians.

If you want the worst care experience for your elderly loved one, send them to the geriatric (GEM) ward. It has the most horrible staff and I give them a 5 star rating in negligence. It's unfortunate that Melbourne's western suburbs is cursed with atrocious health care. If a member of your family member is sent to this ward, make sure you visit them regularly and keep an eye on staff to ensure they do the right thing.

Honestly pathetic, doesn’t even begin to describe this hospital- can’t say their neighbour (Joan Kirner is any better either). My son ended up in ED over a potentially broken finger and was made to sit there for over 3 hours no pain relief, no ice pack- I mean seriously are we all brain dead these days, one of the most basic common sense first aid things and we can’t even do that. Our health system is so broken it’s not funny. Mind you my husband was admitted to sunshine last year and no one at this hospital was able to draw blood, all because none of the nurses wanted to turn the lights on 🙄. Honestly avoid sunshine hospital altogether. I am surprised they don’t get their arses sued by more people.

I was taken by ambulance to sunshine hospital tonight, my problem was very severe pain in the side of my back, severe pain that I could not sit or even stand, after about an hour when I told the nurse the problem, she answered me that at least for 6 I have to wait an hour for the doctor to see me. When I protested, he answered that I could take headache pills. I was really disappointed with the behavior of the medical staff and left the hospital with a lot of pain, as a result, they only wasted my time. And with more severe pain than before, they left me without any treatment, the service of this hospital to the patients is zero because they do not care about the patient and their treatment, the only thing they do well is rest instead of treating the patient

Dehydrated, can eat or drink. Gallbladder pain from multiple gallstones vomiting and dizzy. They could find a vien so didn't give me fluids or pain relief. Came there in a Ambulance told me to get out of the ambulance bed and wait in the waiting room to see a doctor. I just left and went back home and waited till I could see my specialist on Monday. Horrible hospital. They don't care.

My 89 year old mother was transported from Bacchus Marsh Aged Care to Sunshine Hospital Emergency via ambulance due to extreme dehydration as she was unable to eat or drink snd was vomiting for 72 hours prior. On arrival at 10pm she was put on a drip to re hydrate. We attended this department the following morning ar approx 11am as advised by staff to discuss a care plan with the medical team of which included admittance. After waiting approx 4 hours with my mother in extreme pain the doctor finally arrived and advised that she would be admitted that evening when a bed became available and recommended that I go home as everything was OK with bloodtests possibly revealing pancreatitis. I took their advice and departed the facility. Approx 30mins after I received a call from the medical team advising that a CT scan had revealed that her kidneys were shot and there was nothing that they could do and we should prepare for end of life. They suggested discharging her late that evening and sending her back to the aged care facility. I advised that this would not be a good idea as there would not be a doctor in attendance on arrival to supply and administer required meds. This was agreed to, and she would be transported 730 am the next morning. To my shock, she was transported at midnight and arrived at 1am with no discharge documentation recommending findings and treatment. Great way to expect the family to prepare for End of Life. Do yourself a favour do not attend this facility if you have a choice.

Amazing team work and support from the emergency team when I was there at 12:30 AM on Friday 8/09/23. I can never be thankful enough for everything they did to help that morning. I had been to Sunshine hospital numerous time, and I can confirm they care and listen. If people want to know what bad service is, please go to Werribee mercy emergency.

Stay away at all cost. The hospital staff are good with their profession however terrible with communication and setting expectations. It seems like they lack accountability hearing the nurses whisper outside. Anyways if you need surgery the next day make sure they book and provide you the necessary confirmation otherwise if they think you are not important they’ll make you wait for days. Worst you’ll be sleeping at the waiting room. Btw there’s 600 rooms as what they have advertised online. No chance to get one even if you have an open wound and needing medication.

The doctors and Medical staff are great and they deserve a 5 star based on my experience. However, the Hospital desperately needs to look into how their back office staff treat people. My mother was admitted as an overseas patient. When she was discharged, a lady came and asked us to go to a private area and she put some papers asking me to sign it. When I asked her what I was being asked to sign, her response was “will explain once you have signed it.” When I declined, she started getting aggressive and rude. It came to a point that I had to ask her to get a second person come in and witness what she her aggressive and pushy behaviour. Finally when a second person was present in the room, her behaviour changed to an angel. Then we went through the invoice realising that we were charged for 3 nights when mom was admitted for 2 nights only. There were other errors as well. I am writing this because I hope that this will alert private patients and they are prepared to deal with these scenarios.

I went to Sunshine hospital with shortness of breath, ended up having fluid on my lungs. That resolved I was about to be discharged when I suffered my first Torsades Arrest. Several more followed and I genuinely thought I was going to die. ICU and then the cardiac care were absolutely AMAZING and they did save my life. Even the cardiologist wasn't sure I would survive. So MASSIVE thanks to all staff for saving my life.

You might as well get robots to work there instead of humans. Alison on the phone today from the endoscopy was one of the rudest people I’ve ever dealt with in my life. Didn’t help me at all and didn’t bother to help me just wanted to get me off the phone as quick as possible and spoke over me every time I tried to explain the situation. Cannot believe we have these kind of animals working in our health system. You would get better treatment from humans in a third world country. Absolute joke I hope someone sees this and has a chat to Allison because I feel very helpless at the moment and she made me feel scared and sad.

I was visiting some friends I had made doing rounds of meeting people in the hospital as I find it is very easy to make friends with people who are confined to beds as they can't escape you. I always find that making new friends is a hungry task so I tried my luck at the vending machine and opted for a packet of original chips which gave me food poisoning instantly. The nurses were adamant that it couldn't be the chips that had done it and must have been the sushi I had dumpster dived for which I think is just being classist but anyway, I was lucky I was in the right place when the salmonella hit. I definitely won't be reaching for the vending machine next time.

Our daughter had a unecssorry scan on her head by Doctor David Krieser. We took her to our local GP beforehand who said she was ok and had a mild injury. But we thought we should get a second opinion as she was 13 months and we went to the Sunshine hospital. The first intern doctor said she seemed ok and my daughter awake at the time of the intern observations and checks . But she advised she would speak to a Senior Doctor. By the time the senior Dr David Krieser arrived my daughter was tired and napped but because my daughter was tired Dr David Krieser insisted she needed a scan . I told him sometimes my daughters has naps she was only 13 months and she was awake when we visited the hospital. But he still insisted she needed a scan, even though we told him she was playing and eating and behaving normally after the incident and her observation were all clear by two Doctors. He bought in a bunch of trainees with him in the room and conducted which was an uncessory scan. The scan detected nothing and was completed in 2 mins it was done at the back of her skull. I now wish I never visited the sunshine hospital for a second opinion. The visit had been a while ago and was traumatic and my mother who attended with me was in tears.I now wished I had taken my daughter to the Royal Children's hospital who would of agreed with my local Gps assessment and not done an uncessory scan.

I have had only positive experiences at Sunshine Hospital. I understand the medical profession is challenging within itself coming from a family of Doctors and Nurses it can be beyond challenging dealing with the public and people who are unwell. Big respect to the staff for continuing to save lives.

Hi im a patient of Sunshine Hospital i spent 16 days last month in intensive care wards and acute care wards. I have the highest regard for all Nurses and Doctors who brought me back to life. All staff in which i came in contact with who helped me i hold them in the highest regard they are true heroes of our health system which is in shambles due to lack of funding. All Doctors and Nurses deserve to be paid triple the low wages they currently get. Sunshine Hospital is by far the best Hospital in the western suburbs. 10/10 you guys and girls are my heroes

Disgusting treatment of a patient in ER, they were obviously suffering from some sort of neurological disorder and the head nurse left the patient on the floor for 2 hours and when the patient begged for assistance from other workers, the nurse would not let anyone help them. Patient had to call the Police who then contacted the nurse who only then allowed someone to help patient onto a chair. Absolutely disgusting horrific behaviour. That nurse should be fired and investigated. This whole ER should be investigated.

I cannot thank the wonderful people at this hospital who showed great care and understanding to my situation. They were efficient, caring and above all very professional. I cannot rate them highly enough. They deal with some very difficult people and situations and to their credit come back next shift to do it all again. They are special people who should be recognised for their effort.

I am deeply concern about the service offered to people in Emergency department. I felt double standard throughout, very poorly managed. We all pay taxes in Australia regardless of your profession and walk of life. Hospital staff shouldn’t categorise patients by their skin colour or fluency in English…

The hospital is the worst place ever. People with heart and breathing issues wait for over 6 hours in the poorly conditioned emergency area before being checked by doctors. It's a shame that we've spent our lives paying taxes for such poor services. Not even one star for this experience.

As a patient who is currently waiting for surgery on a finger which is sliced to the bone, I am absolutely appalled at the communication and customer service from this hospital. I was told I would get a call last night or today in regards to coming in for surgery and to fast. It’s 6pm the day after, no phone call, no communication and I have been fasting as instructed. When I called to enquiry if I was allowed to eat, I wasn’t put through further then the ‘switch board’ and had the lady yelling at me telling me ‘just to wait’. Considering I am in extreme pain, haven’t eaten in 24 hours and on strong medication that is suggested to be taken with food - I am absolutely disgusted by the care and consideration shown. I would be happy to wait the additional days but just communicate that to me and others who are in the same boat?

Sunshine Hospital need to improve their Services on Emergency . I was there last Sunday , An ambulance had taken me due to an issue after I had my Pfizer vaccine I’m experiencing a Flatline Breathing for few seconds that night as if I am having a heart attack. I had taken Aspirin advised by Ambo Services need to do further check end up in Sunshine as I need to get further check aside from ECG .when I got there I was treated like a Normal patient in the end which I can understand my ecg went ok and blood test . I got shocked treated like a covid patient end up in an extention space aluminium storage prepared for covid patient the weather that night went down to 3 degrees it was freezing we are all complaining how cold it was nobody cares . They said heater is on but unable to feel it eventhough I was sitting next to the heater . Everything is not working. blood pressure monitor they have is playing up . I asked for hot water so I can beat the cold they gave me water from the fridge. I was there 12:15 am not seen by the treating doctor until 10 am . Patients are walking out the door not bother to see the GP. I had seen this for many years and it is still same service and it’s getting worst . The treating doctor is quite nice so I can’t complain on that even the nurse who took my swab on daytime . I was told to see my GP due to the result of my X-ray from the left side of my heart showing a bit of enlargement. I end up going home at 2:30 pm . Here is the breakdown of waiting on Emergency Services . 11 hours sitting in the plastic chair no TV with a weather of 3 degrees , When the doctor arrived that morning , 2 hours of Extended Consultation need chest xray , ECG check and waiting for blood result . The funny thing when I went home I read the result to be given to my GP so I can get referred to Cardiologist. The result showed Female,88 years old ??? .I am 58 years old . The Xray Doctor Specialised on that are didn’t even bother to type my name it was showing Female . I am wondering now if that text result is mine or someone else 😠. Unprofessional Doctor not checking medical assessment.

Brilliant people who work in an often difficult environment. Thank you for what you do! Bit of a cheeky note on some of the negative reviews, don’t blame the hospital for covid, not their fault. Also, don’t blame the hospital for making you sit in emergency because you have anxiety after getting your covid vaccine, also not their fault. People are evaluated in emergency based on severity of pain, so if you’re in pain because you’ve got yourself worked up from using social media as a news source than expect to wait a long time.

This hospital has no duty of care to its patients. The emergency department needs more staff, OR staff with human empathy. Over run or lazy nurses who now use “skeleton staff “ as an excuse? Wouldn’t wish anyone I’ll to end up here . ESPECIALLY in an emergency department, you’d most likely die in the line waiting.

Shame on Australian healthcare for not shutting this hospital down. 4 days since i am here screaming with pain all they do is give me painkillers. They say doctor is not available when called for they are always too busy. The only doctor who has visited me legit said she has no idea what is going on with me and her supervisor needs to see me , which still hasn't happened. They do not even make you comfortable by providing warm blankets to soothe the pain, just want to load you up on painkillers and panadols untill ypu sleep. I was made to fast for 18 hours so that some doctor can examine and get a scan which later he refused to do and stomach pain got worse. Worst hospital ever.

I went straight to the emergency department of Sunshine Hospital in a state of acute abdominal pain. A medical staff informed me that I had to wait in the waiting room for at least 4 hours, but less than 2 hours it was my turn while many other sick patients were also waiting. I was very well examined by Dr. Victoria, and cared for by the nurses. Around 4 hours after being given painkillers and treating my condition better, I should be discharged from the hospital. I am very grateful to the nurses and especially Dr. Victoria for taking care of and treating me. Wish you all good health and good work for new year!.

Not happy at all with the service at this hospital. My son went in around 9pm and did not get seen until 8:30am the next morning. After a complaint by me, they did not tell him that there was no specialist doctor to see him. It is 2:30pm and the doctor is just arriving to see him. Who is holding this place accountable. If someone was yelling, they would call security. I understand that some health issues take priority. But this is too much. I guess if we were a lighter skin color we would have gotten better service.

They took an MRI of her stomach and found a growth but didn't do a biopsy so we don't know what it is. She has to wait 4 weeks for a biopsy. Honest, you are not good AT ALL because of how you treat patients - myself (past) and my newborn (recent) as PATIENTS. Maybe you are okay medically skilled (questionable) but not friendly or considerate. My experience was horrible. Went home in tears and trauma. Thought every department are different (for kids, adults, emergency, women’s), tried not to be biased. But all the same. Lesson learnt.

Sunshine hospital is the biggest joke ever you would never Bragg about this hospital saying they nice. They do not care about you they only think about themselves. You would not send your worst enemy here. It is still a laughing stock. I am back in here and I am not happy. There is nothing special about it. No wonder people still complain the hospital. I would not give them a rating. When I came in a nurse was going though my bag. I useless nurse what give you the right permission to go though my bag. I never sign a waiver for them permission go though my bag. Some of the nurses you tell them if you want more blankets because the room was cold. I was waiting over three hours. You tell them something the nurse ran outside the room and laughing outside the room. I don’t think they they have a Strict confidentiality. I do not like this hospital there Attitude to patience is very poorly. They tell you fasting today no breakfast. Never told me about it. I put it down to poor Communication. The other night I called for a nurse she came in reset the alarm. She just walked out without say nothing. That is poor doing that. That same night a blonde nurse try straightening the pillow move in diffrent angles. She is a Imbecile. Got my dinner the jelly was not set properly like water. Melted like ice cream try to Convince me it taken all that time it melted like water. Lot of the food has got registered day after on it they feed you be given past the use by date. I Suggest you go to a better hospital but keep away from St Albans or Sunshine. The best one is Footscray western general. They have a lot of friendly staff. In my honest opinion Sunshine should have a course in manners and friendly. To people. They should learn how Footscray treat there Patients Star rating is 5 stars to me is Minus 500. Date 21 October 2023. The nurses I had on dayshift are lazy did not make the bed. This one should not be employed as nurses to be honest she was up herself. This nurse name Smriti. The do not have any manners. To be honest this is a joke. I have been here now for 5 weeks of hell. Also I seen a nurse handing urinate full with gloves on and came back still the gloves on handling a drink glass over the top of the glass. Have they fought of unhygienic this should be brought attention to someone. One of the nurse came into the room and stated you are not welcome here. Then reset the call button and walked out of the room. Early in the morning a nurse change a pad and touch the table with her gloves passing contamination in the room. Let me say I am getting sick of this nurses not knowing hygiene.

Getting phone calls from the surgeon Nezor Houli after business hours (7.30 and 10.30 pm) having a go at me because I raised the following concerns: - the hospital has unhygienic practices (reusing an exposed needle that was left out for 5 hours, nurse emptying urine sample, then touching my mum's blood catheter with the same gloves and hands right after). All this according to the surgeon isn't an issue since we're no longer in "covid times". - the hospital failing to book follow up appointments, their system failing to send out appintment details. His response that I am rude, instead of addressing the issues, he was going on about how he is a "successful surgeon" with many academic publications, helping other surgeon setting up clinics etc.

I am generally an understanding person, however in this instance i feel something has to be said. I arrived at the ER at 2am on Saturday night presenting with symptoms of a miscarriage…after waiting the entire night I was attended to sometime between 8-9am the next day. The staff advised us a few times it was an incredibly busy night. Apart from the wait (some waited 11 hours) the real issue was in the lack of proper procedure. The staff were nice and pleasant to deal with however after the long wait, we were told by a doctor that it appeared I was miscarrying and that was the likely outcome. All that was actioned was a blood test that told me nothing. We asked for a scan to confirm what was going on, they said they wouldn’t need to as “you can’t stop it if it’s happening.” I was sent home with a follow up referral to the EPAS. My partner and I spent 3 days grieving only to have the follow up scan today and be shown and told that in fact that I had not miscarried, and that my baby is fine and healthy. The emotional roller coaster I’ve been put on due to the negligence of this ER caused me a great deal of undue distress and is something no one should go through at such a vulnerable point in their pregnancy.

Emergency dept was good, but son has still not gotten surgery for his broken leg. Been 2 days so far, hopes up then pushed back multiple times. So poor. It's ludicrous. It's my local hospital, but will never return given a choice. Unfortunately my son needed an ambulance, so going to Royal children's was not an option.

I recently stayed at Sunshine Hospital emergency short stay after coming in via ambulance, all the nurses who were on during this time were all extremely kind and attentive, and also Jessica the Care Coordinator was very kind and patient and made me feel very reassured with a plan to go home, and the other care coordinator I saw on Wednesday morning and during my discharge who I unfortunately have forgotten the name of. Doctor Rikki was very kind and informative on my arrival, and doctor David in particular I felt really took care in the amount of pain I was in and arranged further pain management that I feel was what led to my actually feeling much better over night. All the staff I encountered were extremely kind and never made me feel uncomfortable, and were really on top of my medication for the pain, I never really had to request it they always came in at regular intervals. It was my first time being in hospital in an emergency type situation in a lot of pain and I had a really great experience, and would like to thank them all so much, I am extremely grateful.

5 star experience today due to legendary ambos Hannah and Michael. Very friendly check in staff. Fabulous nurses Tenzin and Monique and thetwo charming doctors who treated me. I may have been lucky today but I was truly impressed by the professionalism and humanism and dare I say charm and empathy of the staff. And none of the drugs I was given influenced this review today! Well done Sunshine hospital and Lula and colleague and the doctor at Cairnlea Superclinic this afternoon.

I want to thank them for the safe delivery of my son a long time ago. There could've been a placenta abruption but we both survived. More recently I've a been to the ER for other matter( not related to drugs and alcohol) which is a problem for other people in the area. But not for me because i could not look two very old by myself if i was an alco or drug addict or mental by myself and no help at all from their bully and useless son or anyone else for that matter. I was the only one in the ER who was there by themselves , i also noticed on another when someone is there by themselves the staff is a bit more condensing . Actually i didn't even have a problem until 2 mths afyer my mum. They are just as bad as the abuser.

I had really bad experience in Sunshine hospital testing clinic. Even if I am a staff member over there, I wasn't treated in a good way.I was in Pod1 testing clinic for doing a COVID test at Sunshine Hospital on 13/10 at 5pm.Nurse told me to go to the counter then I approached the counter and the receptionist or clerk whoever sitting there was not even looking at me, didn't even ask anything.I was simply standing in front of that clerk for 10 minutes that was rude and no response from her. Then another lady came to next to that receptionist and she call with her 2 fingers, like 'The dog call' which is offensive, she couldn't even say a word 'Next',what a weird place is that? How come these people are working in a Hospital, without compassion or kindness to others? I don't know because of my skin colour they treated me like that? It's not acceptable. If they are treating staff member like this, then how would they treat public there.Very bad hospital and no manners for those people who were present in that testing clinic reception and surprisingly they were caucasians.

I had heavy chest pain after Pfizer second dose vaccine. I went to the emergency 2 nights in a roll want to check out. The first time I was there and waited for 3 hours and then I cancelled the appointment because it was taking too long. The second night I went to the emergency and waited for 7hours to see the doctor and did my 3 tests, blood test,ECG, and X ray. The doctors are nice. The tests are ok. However the waiting time is insane and I have constant heavy chest pain for 2 days. The nurse on call suggested me to call 000 and come to the hospital which means my chest pain sounds quite serious. However, it seems not urgent enough for admin staff at the hospital and they treated me as a normal patient. When I asked how long it might take for me to wait when it was midnight after 4 hours waiting, they said just wait we cannot tell you the waiting time. They also said there are more people wait longer than you. I couldn't rest for my chest, and I have to stay up to increase more chest pain to wait to see the doctor. It was a big suffer for me. I went to the hospital at 8pm and finished at 3am. I hope in the future people can wait less when they are in urgent situation.

Very bad Sunshine. This hospital should be name HURRICANE HOSPITAL. Very bad service. Rude staff. Do not waste your time going there. Theres a reason why emergency room is called EMERGENCY! They can't even talk to normal people nicely. Whoever is at the receptionist counter, Lady, with all due respect, we don't mind waiting the extra hours but THE LEAST you can do is to treat people kindly, with manners and respect but instead, you trynna be the doctor by telling us repeatedly "you are ok" (in the rudest way possible) when we haven't even met the doctor yet. Even your colleague told us that you are rude. People like you are the reason why there's violence in the emergency waiting room. Because your ugly attitude triggers them. It's affecting their emotions. Please rather go to Royal Melbourne's Hospital.

I got saviour kidney stone pain. I went to emergency. Then I explain to them how am feeling with the pain like dying. After an hour a nurse gave me a high dose of pain killer it’s shown so much effect on my pain then I feel so drowsy and tend to sleep very much I try to sleep in the waiting room. I ask the nurse for a bedsheet she gave me one I waited for the doctor for around 12 hours meanwhile then take my blood and urine test and BP and other readings so many times to check the changes in health and the results are very accurate god will bless the nurses who are taking care of me they extremely friendly they should deserve more than respect. But waiting time is very horrible due to improper seating am unable to sleep the whole night. And they give a bed to sleep after wait 11 hours and suffer from pain drowsiness. I think the administration department should work faster to comfort the patients suffering so much pain and need to take more care. I saw several people today in the hospital waiting for the care in emergency suffering from so much pain my heart melted so much by seeing this situation. I should recommend more staff at night time to take care of patients. I always feel so proud about the Australian system especially in Victoria but yesterday am so disappointed with the administration of emergency in this hospital. Women should get attention when they are in so much pain but in this hospital, everyone has treated the same respect that but in my point of view women need care first. Good bless you all the nurses who are working in this hospital thank you so much for taking such good care of me, without their response, I should die this is my first hospital review. Most of the people giving one Star for this hospital due to lack of response I agree with that but doctors and nurses deserve 5 stars in my opening thank you all.

Ridiculous wait times - advised 4 to 5 hour wait… now nearing over 5 hours and deemed not a priority although GP who sent us here emphasised how crucial needed to get to the hospital. Seen patients who arrived way after us go in and be seen but told it’s done on priority - guess not a priority even though the GP can’t help! Experienced the same way before Covid and the waiting room cleared out way before I was good enough to be seen! Deemed not a priority although unable to sit up and in severe pain! Our health system needs a complete overhaul even before Covid! Staff over worked and stressed

I came in the Emergency Department and I like their system. It doesn’t take longer hours of waiting. I know it depends on urgency. The staff prioritise their patients. They have the concern if they are on our shoes. Well done all staff in this hospital. Good working ethics start with good happy management and that flows along.

I've been here twice now & both wonderful experiences. Note, both were actual emergencies & not a case of "They left me waiting for hours!". You're waiting because you can, & if the "service" is so bad that you go home & live to write a review, you didn't need emergency! 1st time, brown snake bite - waited maybe 2 minutes. 2nd time, elderly dad had a fall - waited about 5 minutes. Yes, staff are overstretched. Doctors are tired, nurses are tired, everyone is tired. But how about stop treating the emergency room like your local GP?

Absolutely appalling treatment! My partner presented Tuesday morning with signs of appendicitis. He was told even with this his approximate waiting time was 3 hours. Once he was taken back he was told he should be having surgery later that day/night. He was prepped for surgery only to be told he would have to wait until the following morning. Overnight he was in extreme pain and upon notifying the nurse that he couldn’t cope with the pain, was told they would just get him more pain meds. He eventually had surgery at 8am Wednesday morning, 25 HOURS after arriving at the emergency department. This alone is absolutely disgusting. I’m not a doctor and even I know appendicitis means emergency surgery in every single case. After he got out of surgery he was told he could go home that night or the following morning. It wasn’t until later in the day we was told he would be kept in until Friday morning so he could have IV antibiotics. It also wasn’t until Thursday he was told that his appendix had actually ruptured, which could have been avoided if he was given surgery within an appropriate time frame. He has now been told he has a blockage and has had an NG tube placed. During this entire experience not once has he been told why something was done until after the fact. How is he meant to exercise informed consent if he isn’t informed of the process before it happens. I wouldn’t wish this treatment on my worst enemy. This hospital is a joke, don’t take your loved ones there. I’d give this place no stars if that was an option. We are looking at making a formal complaint

  • 1/5 Luke D. 11 months ago on Google
Id give no stars if possible. Booked fotlr a CT scan, waited 1:30 while watching everyone else arrive after us go through. Made us late for the children's fracture clinic. Waited there 30 minutes just to get a ticket, now waiting 2 hours and counting since getting a ticket. Why bother making appointments? Never coming back.

The treatment I got in the ER admission from the nurses and other staff was indescribably better than I've experienced at other ER's. However, I feel like they could have monitored my ECG reading for longer, as they only left it on for maybe 15-20seconds (with the knowledge that it was flucuating), before concluding it normal and sending me back to the waiting room, where while waiting it went up down up down quite dramatically multiple times. I would still go here over any of the other nearby options, any day.

Very bad experience in the emergency department. They treat in like a 3rd world country. I have been in the emergency department waiting room for almost 16 hours, and then the doctor served me in the morning after 8 am. They keep telling me, we don't have enough bed in Emergency. Charged me $3200 extra for just one night. Very pathetic service. I would not recommend the emergency department to anyone. Please go somewhere else.

Something happened to my back, woke up that way a few days ago and haven't been able to stand for more than 5 minutes long since. I've been getting worse and have had no luck with any osteo or myotherapist treating this. I come to the hospital, they put me on a bed. Was there for 6 hours. Zero scans were done. Not 1 scan. The doctor looked at me physically, done the usual nerve tap tests with their rubber utensil and that was it along with a bladder test. Not one single scan of any sort to do with my spine. I mentioned to him the severity of the situation, he just said if it gets worse come back, I'm like wouldn't it be too late by then? I mentioned to him my friend who was discharged under the same circumstances only for 6 hours later it would be the last time he'd ever move on his own for months. He had caudal equina syndrome and is now using a catheter 4 times a day at the age of 30. You'd think with my medical history he'd rather be safe than sorry. Told them was more than happy to pay for An MRI and they wouldn't have it. I wasn't going to create a fuss but hey I have it all on file, and if anything happens to me within the next few days due to this injury, I hope they are prepared for legal ramifications due to gross negligence. Do not come to this hospital unless you have bullet holes. Here's my proof that nothing was done.

3 weeks ago I got admitted to Sunshine Hospital and I won't be here writing this review if it wasn't for all the amazing hardworking people that helped me out. There is so many to thank but it doesn't matter because each and everyone of them played a crucial role in my recovery. First I want to thank the ER receptionists who was kind and quick in getting me in. Im sorry I didn't get your name all I remembered was your beautiful hijab. I want to thank all the doctors and nurses in the emergency area that were fast in examining what was wrong with me. I wanted to thank all those who did my CT scans, xrays and did any tests that were necessary. Last and least I want give a big shout out  and Thank You to all the doctors, nurses, cleaners, and everyone involved in the ICU department. As you know this is where the most critical patient go to and that was me. I'm blessed and super greatful to everyone of them. I want to say a special thank you to Dr. Irma who always seem to put a smile on my face everytime she comes around. I want to thank the amazing hard-working nurses. I cry evertime I think of you because you are the forgotten heroes of this place or any hospital. Day in day out you rock up with a smile  forgetting about your lives and ready to take on whatever is needed for us your patients. I also want to thank Dr Alan and his team from the Respiratory department, as well as Cindy and Tim who's there to do my exercise and breathing techniques. Last I also want to thank Cindy, who's not a doctor, nor a nurse to be honest I forgot what she does but she's always there with a big smile, and a positive attitude something we need while being in there. Since coming back I've looked at life differently and have more respect and appreciation for everyone in the medical field. Thank you once again to everyone in Sunshine Hospital. I'll never forget all the love, care and support shown while being in there. I pray to God every day to bless each and everyone of you. From a greatful patient (Lanu)

There should be an option to put 0 star. Never going back again. The ward clerk was impatience, very rude and in hurry. She made me feel overwhelmed. Then, the waiting period at emergency is sickening. Did not use aseptic techniques while needling.

My partner and I took our 6yo son, who is autistic, to the hospital’s paediatric emergency centre last night (a Saturday night too) as he’d slipped at home and badly lacerated his head. The care that we received was absolutely exemplary. The nurse that triaged my son (Jess, in colourful blue scrubs) was wonderful and the doctor we saw, Dr Vanessa Webb, was utterly exceptional. They were completely sensitive to our needs and listened and accommodated us, as a neurodivergent, LGBTIQ family with total sensory overwhelm. They explained everything that was going to happen clearly and in good humour and we felt completely informed, comfortable and in safe and knowledgeable hands. We were in and out in under 2 hours. An incredible experience and super grateful for the fact the Andrews Govt funded the separate paediatric emergency centre a few years back.

Recently went into the Day Procedure Unit for Plastics. The wait was long to be honest and the amount of times I had cancellations was enough to make me give up. However, the staff, especially the nurses were VERY welcoming. Nurses noticed that I wanted to see my parents/partner every 30mins or so during my wait in the Pre-Procedure room and they allowed me to see her. All big smiles and that's impressive considering the stress they go through. Doctors were all VERY friendly too, which I love to see in a public hospital. Andrew (my nurse) spoke with me all the way from the pre-room all the way until my operation was done. Made me feel very comfortable and assuring to how the operation would go. Special shoutout to nurses Andrew, Marcella, and Lindy and doctors Rose, Paul and Jet. Thanks a lot team!

Very poor quality. Triage area for children not being used as kids triage. Children are being left to line up for triage with adults for hours, on top of that Very rude administration Clark that thinks sitting behind a desk gives her permission to yell at patients. If you have a sick child or an emergency take your child to royal children's. This hospital is a waste of time.

Nobody wants to end up in hospital, but let me tell you: my life can be pretty unpredictable and crazy! Of course, its not up to you, but, I do not recommend the emergency department on a friday or saturday. Thankfully, my entire world fell apart on a Wednesday, so it was pretty quiet and I was seen fairly promptly. Still a good 6 hours from admission to discharge, but I am alive: that deserves 5 stars in its own right. (image is an AI rendition of me in hospital based of this review.)

Hi Sunshine hospital, my experience so far is to not receive the email post my first maternity consult over the phone. I was told I needed low dose asprin, but never received the info. I had to google and go to the pharmacy to get the info. I found out I should have started before 16 weeks from Google, though my first appointment was after 16 weeks, which is dissapointing. I have also found out calcium tablets help to prevent pre eclampsia and I wanst told tot are these. I tried to ring up about this and my call was hung up on after 15 minutes wait, multiple times. My first appointment I didn't what long which was a pleasant surprise. Unfortunetly the obstetrician didn't have a great bedside manner and seemed impatient if I said anything outside of his questions, which fails to put one at ease.

I was so pleased at my visit to the Sunshine Hospital. The receptionist at the main entrance was so helpful. Then the visitors volunteers were a breath of fresh air, firstly answering people's questions and then to accompany the people to their required destinations.Even the cleaners were helpful ,apart from keeping the hospital in pristine condition. When I was leaving the hospital I got a bit disoriented and some staff going for their morning tea break ,saw my predicament and kindly showed me where the main exit doors were. The people in pathology were very friendly and professional. The research staff section were so so great and skilled on what they were doing. I was rather surprised that the new maturity hospital was named after Joan Kirner ,whose legislation that her government brought in,did not support the culture of life.

Was not a very pleasant experience as I felt the staff in not experienced enough...were very disturbing ..kept coming and disturbing ...did not realize that the patient is asleep ... the ceasarian section new mom was asked to change the diaper of her new born the same night . No family member was allowed for help. The baby was getting pricked again and again .... not that they take the blood sample all together... sry not a good experience.....

The treatment at this hospital is absolutely pathetic! This hospital shouldn't even get a 1 star reveiw. Being taken out of a bed at 10.30pm, to be put back out into the over crowded emergency waiting room, while being attached to an antibiotic drip and in crippling pain IS NOT OK! Half of these doctors don't know what they're doing because they are in training the other half should have their licenses revoked! Under staffed, ill equipped and poorly managed! Do Not go to this hospital especially if your life depends on it! Sunshine hospital is a disgrace to the medical practice and it is appalling to see patients being treated this way.

Very poor service attitude. The reception staff at the children's clinic had a particularly poor service attitude. The lady at the lobby was playing games online. Very disappointed

👍👍 I just finished taking my dad here, he had to get two teeth removed. Debra the nurse was so lovely and caring, she made my dad feel right at home. I couldn’t recommend her enough. The dentist (I forgot her name - she was of Asian descent) was so gentle and careful and considerate. She ensured dad wa...

😠 The worst hospital. My sister had been suffering from breathing problems and attended this hospital in the morning due to it getting worse over night. 9 hours later sitting by herself, the doctor discharged her while saying nothing is wrong with her while seeing her physical state and it was clear s...

😠 Will definitely never come to casey emergency ever again! Rather drive to Frankston! The nurses clearly dont have anything to do, bundled chatting away, on the phone, yet the waiting time is between what and what! 😠 Do not have your baby here. There are many other hospitals to choose your maternal care with, and I don't believe Box Hill Hospital as the right choice. I left feeling very uncared for and my stay there was quite a lot. Lots of drips not checked nor working correctly, no care while I was recovering...

😠 ONLY COME HERE AS YOUR LAST RESORT. Exceptionally rude staff from the entrance reception through to the ward. Extremely unprofessional as if they haven’t interacted with people for their whole lives. Feels like the staff do not even want to be there, everybody looks dull and just as sick as the pat...
