I came in with a back pain, quite severe! First and foremost let me introduce my self. I am an International student from Sri Lanka. I do not have any sort of help in Australia. Since I slipped a disc, I came to this hospital emergency for treatment and an X-Ray. I was kept in the waiting room for hours and hours. I wasnā€™t seen immediately. I was given some hospital outfit to wear and later told to go to the waiting room. I donā€™t understand how long it can take it to take an X-Ray. They kept me waiting from 3pm to almost 9.30pm 6 hours of nothing, a doctor visited me yes good, I had a very friendly nurse as well but other than that time management and service is nill. Nobody knows whatā€™s going on. Inspite of all of this and me having an international student health cover they charged me 340 AUD which apparently I cannot claim. End of the story- this hospital is a big fat joke to me and it doesnā€™t deserve any kind of accolades Thank you

The nurses were all really friendly, but I waited 4 hours in recovery before being moved to the ward. If there was a proper dinner, I missed it after fasting. They had all my stuff, so I didn't have access to my phone or even a tv in that time. It's crazy how much they charge for a room and you barely even use it. The next morning I didn't get a hot breakfast because I didn't fill out the form that they never actually gave me.

I took my husband to Knox emergency on the 1st of Feb. We got into the carpark at 3:42 so were inside a couple of minutes later. We say in emergency for about 50 minutes (paid for the car parking at 4:37) During that time someone at the front took his first name and told him to sit down. This is completely and utterly ridiculous and dangerous. We both work in hospitals and was horrific to see. The issues were: - No one at the front triage sitting there when we got there - No one even took his full name of registered him - 0 questions asked - The staff has 0 idea why he was there! I completely understand that people are seen based on urgency but when the staff are not asking then patients why they presented to the emergency department this is dangerous on all levels. People can be there with a heart attack, a testicular or ovarian torsion or many other urgent medical emergencies. I am appalled by what we encountered. I would never recommend anyone to attend this hospital. Literally the only other interaction we had with any staff member was someone ASKING MY HUSBAND to pass PAPERWORK TO ANOTHER PATIENT IN THE WAITING ROOM. How inappropriate - there are confidentially issues and he was there for a reason! No one even saw us leaving. We went to another private hospital and had a great experience. Horrible experience and we would never go there again and won't recommend anyone else to attend.

I have been holding off on leaving this review, in hope the hospital would have contacted me regarding my reported concern. 1 November 2021 I went in for an overnight procedure. Upon admission the nurse asked I change into the provided robe and only leave my underwear on ā€“ which I did. Following the procedure that evening, it occurred to me that my underwear was missing and not in with my belongings, as removal was required for the procedure. I reported this and the staff were wonderful in trying to locate them, it appears once removed when I was under anaesthetic, that they were not labelled and put in with my belongings in my bag. Post my stay I called and reported this to the ward supervisor, not happy with her response and no care attitude, I then escalated this to a more senior person. I donā€™t know why I bothered. I even completed the ā€˜post stayā€™ survey online from the General Managerā€™s office and reported the incident. I was assured in writing that someone would be in contact ā€“ I am still waiting. I should not hear things such as, they are ā€œjust underwearā€, ā€œyou shouldnā€™t take your personal belongings with you to hospitalā€ etc. I as all private patients, paid in full a sum of over $4000 for my stay, plus money for medical staff etc. And I was not offered any empathy or even compensation of $20 or so for the item. This incident has left me incredibly upset, violated and I still shake my head in disbelief. Absolutely Terrible.

My personal belongings arrived 3 hours late. My phone was there so I couldn't talk with my kids.. The so called "diabetic meal" contained gnocchi (potato/bad), vegetables soup with.. potato, none-diabetic banana yoghurt. Not even a single fresh vegetable.. no fiber. They know nothing what a diabetic meal should be. That's my 2nd time here and the previous one was no better. The nurses are nice and welcoming. It does not help when the surrounding system does not function.

I recently had day surgery (knee arthroscopy) at this hospital. Admission went smoothly. I had a short interview with a nurse before being led into the ward/bed to get changed and ready for surgery. Clothes and personal belongings are kept in a bag with your name on it and then put into a secure location until you return to the ward. As soon as I woke up, the nurses offered and then brought food (sandwich, biscuit & coffee, etc). Also, I had a visit from the physiotherapist who gave me some instructions and leaflet. Upon being discharged from the ward, a wonderful nurse transported me to my car in a wheelchair, which I really appreciated! All the staff (admin, nurses, physio, and orderly) I encountered were super nice, friendly, and attentive. The only slight negative was that I had to wait 1 hour for the pharmacist to bring some medication before I could be discharged. This is the second time Iā€™ve had day surgery at this hospital, and both times were good experiences. I recommend this hospital for a day procedure/surgery :) Note: The underground parking area always had plenty of spaces, so we were able to get a parking spot very easily.

I was admitted for surgery at 4pm and had a private room booked. My surgery ran late and I was done at 9pm. It wasn't until after 11pm I finally got to my room. During this 2 hour wait after operating I was absolutely busting and was offered a pan to pee in. I explained to the nurse the pan was touching my bum and I didn't want to get pee all over myself and was told I couldn't use the toilet as there were no toilets outside the operating rooms. I kept offering to get up to use the toilets but was made to lay there in agony absolutely busting. It had also been 12 hours since eating anything and I was looking forward to my dinner only to be told at 11pm that I had missed dinner. I would expect paying over $3000 for an overnight stay they could at least provide some food. I did not feel my needs were understood by some of the staff here. Upon leaving the next morning it was an hour wait in the chemist for discharge medications. For a private hospital this is just not good enough and I have had better experiences in public hospitals.

My wife had an emergency situation at 2:00 am on 13th Aug, so I rushed her to the Knox Emergency department. There was no one at the door so I just grabbed a wheelchair at the door and pushed my wife into the reception area, because I called before we went, the receptionist knew the situation already, so she greeted us. I thought we were lucky as there was no other patient there, however my wife had to go through the interview, payment and RAT test, the procedure was around 40 minutes. The male nurse who did the interview was rude without any sympathy, as we answered his questions at the same time once, he just said ā€œcan I have one person talk at one time?ā€, what is the problem with this? I just wanted to answer his questions quickly on behalf of my wife because she was quite distressed due to the situation, and the interview was tedious. Now after this, we had to move to another window to pay the fees with the receptionist, more questions were asked, why couldnā€™t we do this at the same window at one time? Finally after I payed the fees, another female nurse came out to meet my wife, but she said my wife had to do a RAT test before she can enter the wards area, so this added another 10 minutes waiting time. If a RAT test is needed why donā€™t you do it in the first place? This will definitely save at least 10 minutes. I could not believe a private hospital which is charging $450 emergency services out of pocket can be worse than a public hospital. Will never use this hospital in the future. PS. One extra star is given to the 2 female nurses in the wards, they were professional and helped my wife to reduce her distress.

Poor experience through emergency. Son injured wrist at football, was advised that the emergency department had recently signed on with the EFL as the main point to go to for football injuries. We sat in the emergency ward for 2 hrs before a scan even done. There were only 2 other people in the ward. Nurses dragged their feet mainly because they were not busy I guess. No doctor anywhere to be seen. Took both myself and another patient to complain for at least 30 mins before he told me there was nothing wrong, go home and ice. $600 and 3.5hrs later and they never offered my son pain relief, ice or anything. They got it wrong! After complaining Iā€™m still yet to get my returned promised call from the nurse unit manager Ethan Edwards. What have I paid for is what Iā€™d like to know! Donā€™t bother going here go public and get better service!

If I could rate Knox Private Hospital 0 stars, I would! Dr Law denied my Aunty extremely important surgery (THE DAY BEFORE THE OPERATION) PURELY based on ASSUMPTIONS that she was committing fraud?!? She was clearly having trouble breathing, as well as being in physical and mental pain (she also had cancerous cells in her thyroid) !!!!! Was this an act of racism? Possibly! But it sure is discrimination! A surgeon who makes such assumptions and DENIES surgery to an individual who clearly needs it should NOT be a surgeon, they are clearly in it for the money! This is simply disgusting! The fact that Knox Private Hospital allows this despicable behaviour from Dr Law proves that they do NOT care about their patients!! Never go to this hospital!!!

TLDR go to a public hospital, faster and cheaper. The entire point of a private hospital is that you will be seen quickly and receive a level of care that less well funded public hospitals can't manage. Getting someone in and out of the ED in 2.5 hours is considered to be an excellent turn around at a public hospital. I have been waiting longer than that already on a quiet Monday evening in the middle of lockdown. Don't misunderstand the staff have been excellent, this 1 star goes to the hospital administrators. They charged me $340 but have clearly deduced that they aren't making enough money, so they have cut the ed staff down to a skeleton crew. Ive been admitted and haven't seen a person so much as walk past in 40 minutes. Pathetic. I feel for the staff this can't be easy

i was admitted to day surgery two weeks ago and was supposed to be ready by around lunch time. I was not actually ready til nearly 5pm. This was not the worst of the problem. The problem was that my 81 yrd old carer (with cancer) was downstairs asking about me (from late morning), to be told 3 times, they could not find me. Meanwhile I was upstairs in the day unit asking them to find my carer so I could go home. 5 times the nurse took a patient downstairs to be discharged, and came back to tell me my carer was not there. I am also a cancer patient, among other medical issues - it was a long, miserable, stressful day for both my carer and myself. How can they not find two people who were there the whole time. In the end my carer, in desperation, approached a security guard for help. and I was then 'found' and allowed to go home. There appeared to be no system to monitor where patients and carers are and nurses who just were not interested . Disappointing and inadequate care

Very poor experience today at the Knox Private Consulting Suites by the receptionist. When I approached the desk there was no hello just rudely asked if I had scanned the QR code and asked if I had filled out some forms prior to arriving. They made me feel like I had inconvenienced them by handing me the forms to be completed. After the consultation they wanted the account settled on the spot even though it was a work cover injury. I refused to be out of pocket but offered to call my employer right there to have the bill settled but was told they could not take payment over the phone. And I also needed a certificate of capacity for my employer and was told by the rude receptionist that that the doctor would not have the time to write them out on the same day and could take five days for this to be sent to me. There was no care factor that I wonā€™t get paid by my employer without this certificate. But they cared about them getting paid today. Had they accepted my offer to call my employer to have this paid over the phone today, they would have been paid. And they held me to ransom on the certificate of capacity that they wonā€™t issue it unless the account is settled. What terrible service. This left me feeling worse for visiting them. They are in the service of health care and yet they show no empathy or compassion for the patients who are obviously in need of the service they offer to get better but left feeling worse than they had started.

Each time I have had to go to this hospital (patient & visitor) I have found the medical staff very caring. The admin staff are always polite and helpful. I have seen the hospital grow over the years and turn into a well equipped modern hospital. People complain about the fees charged by the Emergency Department but I have had to go there a few times and was always treated promptly and received great care. I will continue to choose Knox Hospital and look forward to seeing the new wing currently being built finished as itā€™s a little confusing finding your way around at the moment.

I am a student doing my nursing placements at Knox Private Hospital. I would like to share my experience so far. I have been to several other hospitals (private and public) for my placements, but Knox has been the worst place ever already in week 1 of my 4 weeks of placement. The educators are the main reason of it. Educators at other hospitals are so friendly, you'd like to meet them. But Knox educators are mean and not friendly at all. All they want to do is you to make a mistake. Educators at Monash and Eastern Health will ask you if everyone is treating you good on the ward. But at Knox they never talk about such things, all they say is "Tell me about your patient". I think Knox educators themselves need to go for education placements at other hospitals, because they clearly don't know what they are doing. It's just been one week of my placement at Knox and I'm considering to leave nursing just because of the educator. The educator never makes me feel welcomed as she just wants to point you out. All students in my ward, think the same. No one has courage to tell the educator on her face, because Knox is known for failing students. I have seen students cry during their placements just because of the educators, and this should raise a concern.

Finished my 4 week student nursing placement recently, so happy and impressed with my experience, the clinical facilitators are very supportive, and push to ensure you get the best learning outcome and are safe for practice. Every nurse I worked with on Tandarah was so lovely and happy to share their knowledge, even when they were busy and it slowed them down, Thank you!!

My Wife required a procedure at Knox Hospital and the service by all concerned could only be described as EXCELLENT. The care that was given in all areas was great as every employee was really nice, caring, and helpful and nothing was too much trouble for any of them. It was such a great feeling to have people around you that actually cared to ensure your stay was as comfortable as possible. Well done Knox Hospital.

My son dislocated his finger during a basketball game on 26 Aug 2023. and decided to go to Knox Private hospital. We arrived at the ED (emergency dept) of Knox Private at 245 pm and were immediately registered by a nurse. My 12 year old son responded to the nurseā€™s query how he injured his finger and showed it to her. We were already aware of the out of pocket fee of $470.00 which excluded any other required tests (such as an X-ray, which we were told he would be needing) paid. and weā€™re instructed to wait in the waiting room. We were first in line. However, we noticed a few more people where coming in and a couple of them have been attended to by the doctor before us. After waiting for more than hour and my son who is in pain, I decided to speak to one of the nurses to ask why other people were being attended to when we were first in line. We were told later on that my son has been bumped off the queue and had to wait for 3 more people who were put ahead of him due to them having more ā€œurgent needsā€. I work in aged care and disability and am able to decipher whether someone needs are actually urgentā€¦if they can walk unaided without difficulty, breathing normally and are not in obvious pain, I felt it was unfair for my son (who is in pain) to be bumped off not just once but several times (2 people were seen apart from the other 3 that I mentioned) just because theyā€™ve determined theyā€™re needs are more urgent than my sonā€™s. And wouldnā€™t it be more efficient to attend to him and proceed to getting an X-ray (as theyā€™ve determined during the registration) so they could plan what to do nextā€¦ at least get the ball rolling. And is it unreasonable to expect to at least have been informed that we were being bumped off and advise us how much longer we have to wait? We all paid the same amount of fees anyway. We even asked if we could come back and get something to eatā€¦ but weā€™re told that weā€™ll lose our place in the queue. Really???!!! Didnā€™t we just get bumped while we were thereā€¦waiting? In the end, we decided to get a refund and left. Iā€™m sure we wouldā€™ve waited for hours as more and more people were arriving. We went to the Royal Childrenā€™s hospital where we were attended to according to the time arrival. We waited less than 5 minutes at the Royal Childrenā€™s and the doctor determined that his finger was severely dislocated and was administered fentanyl prior to treatment. The emergency staff at Knox were lovely but somehow are not equipped with determining what constitutes as urgent. Overall, the emergency departmentā€™s service of Knox Private just sucked. I guess I expected too much from a private hospital. My bad.

Attended A&E on the 4 July 2022 and from the moment I entered I experienced nothing short of excellence, kindness, humanity and grace. Our health professionals have been under enormous pressure for many years due to funding shortfalls compounded by the complexity and stress of a pandemic! I cannot speak highly enough of the A&E staff at Knox Private - so much gratitude. A special shout out to the delightful Dr Jay and Nurse Brandon - ā€˜the purpose of life is living your purposeā€™, and you are both perfect exemplars of this wisdom šŸ™

Wish there was a zero here, the atrocious call they made to the my disabled elderly mother was disgusting, called without notification to advise to pick her husband up straight away. We are talking about elderly people with disabilityā€™s that is impossible to arrange pick up last minute without notice to collect immediately, not only that there was zero Care and advised a very disabled person that they need to change a catheter 4 times a day and will show how ! Umm is the staff at know private hospital in their right mind ? Itā€™s absolutely disgusting and absolutely disgraceful . Mind you they left an elderly patient with just a singlet and adult nappie with the excuse of just had a shower ! Until a family member had to arrive and dress him. ! Seriously ! Is that how you treat civilians of the country ? Or are you relying on workers that happen to serve this country for a few years with zero care . Disgusting ! Knox private and shame on you.

My daughter took me to ED in the early hours of last Friday 22.7.2022 as I was suffering a severe asthma attack. I was seen immediately (thanks Robyn, Nigel, Jo, Paul and I'm sorry but the name of the ED doctor escapes me) and I ended up having an all expenses paid weekend there. I have nothing but praise for everyone, the staff were professional and caring and the food was lovely. 5 stars to you all.

Having a nurse suggest that a minister canā€™t be there because the patient is the ministers father is astonishingly rude and ignorant. All of the other nurses were amazing but clearly this particular nurse had issues and proceeded to do everything she could to make sure the patient didnā€™t have access to the care he needed and requested from an ordained minister of religion. A hospital should know better and should ensure itā€™s staff are trained and informed on such matters. Pity that particular nurse let the rest of the staff who had done an amazing job down.

What kind of hospital is so ill prepared for patients with Covid THREE YEARS INTO A GLOBAL PANDEMIC that they outright refuse to treat them? My housemate wanted to be admitted to KPH because he was coughing up large amounts of blood due to Covid, and they brushed him off completely and told him to go someplace else? What kind of Hospital does this? Absolutely abhorrent attitude. Never in my wildest dreams would I have ever imagined a hospital denying care to a patient, especially in Victoria of all places!

I recently had the privilege of undergoing a knee replacement surgery at Knox Private Hospital, and I must express my immense satisfaction with the exceptional care and service I received during my three-night stay on the Larra Ward. From the moment I walked through the doors, the admission procedure was seamless and efficient. The staff demonstrated a remarkable level of professionalism and warmth, making me feel welcome and at ease. The atmosphere throughout the hospital was serene, contributing to a sense of comfort and reassurance. The nursing care I received on the Larra Ward surpassed my expectations. The nursing staff exhibited unwavering dedication and compassion, attending to my needs with a level of expertise that instilled confidence. What stood out most was their commitment to providing not only medical care but also emotional support, creating a holistic and healing environment. The friendly and professional demeanor of the entire staff further enhanced my experience. They were approachable, accommodating, and consistently went above and beyond to ensure my well-being. Any questions I had, whether big or small, were met with patience and thorough explanations, contributing to my understanding and peace of mind. Pain management was a priority, and the staff was attentive at all hours, promptly addressing any discomfort I experienced. Their proactive approach to pain relief was instrumental in facilitating a smoother recovery process. The dedication to ensuring my comfort showcased their commitment to patient-centered care. As my recovery progressed, the staff continued to play a vital role in the easy and timely discharge process. The coordination among the medical team and support staff was commendable, reflecting a well-organized and efficient system. In conclusion, my stay at Knox Private Hospital for my knee replacement surgery was nothing short of outstanding. The combination of easy admission, fantastic nursing care, friendly professional staff, round-the-clock pain relief assistance, and a seamless discharge process make Knox Private Hospital a beacon of excellence in healthcare. I am immensely grateful for the positive impact they have had on my journey to recovery.

I visited Knox private Emergency 07/07/22 with kidney stones and kidney infection requiring surgery. The emergency team were fantastic seeing me quickly being in excruciating pain. The nurses from Kenloch ward who cared for me across 3 days were also fantastic. At all times they were caring and ensuring my needs were taken care of. They really put their patients first and seeing them assist other patients in the same manner is a credit to them!

I went to pick up my friend at this hospital after she had surgery and stayed overnight. The nurses and the carers were very rude! The worse hospital I have ever been. My friend was in so much pain before discharge. She requested few pain killers, the nurse came in and rolled her eyes screamed to my friend that she would get the medication at the pharmacy. The carers kept coming to chase my friend if she was ready to leave. They came in to check if she was ready to go at least 4 times. She wasnā€™t able to walk without the pain killer. This hospital is very unfriendly, discriminated. I will tell all my friends not to come again!!! We pay for private hospital access but treated as public.

My younger brother broke his wrist. A clean break. We have private health insurance and apparently itā€™s not accepted here. We are going to be thousands of dollars out of pocket and for what? They took over an hour to just see him and demanded payment first. They made him wait for over an hour once in the emergency patient room. They asked him meaningless questions while he was screaming in pain instead of administering morphine or some pain relief. Even with the exorbitant price, they claimed there were no empty rooms so he had to stay in the emergency ward room with no entertainment. And above all else, the hospitality and compassion to both him and his family was appalling. I was waiting with my brother and nobody was attending to him. So he asked to close the curtain. I closed it for him and 3 seconds later a lady who has already proven to be to be very unkind, swiped the curtain back open and said in a harsh tone. ā€˜This curtain is NOT to be closedā€™. I said okay. She said ā€˜you can go now, your time is upā€™. I started walking out and she followed me. I simply said in a very calm tone. ā€˜Youā€™re being quite rude to me.ā€™ To that she lost her mind and started raising her voice and told me Iā€™m never allowed to come back again.

If I could I would give 0 stars. I got told by our local doctor to take mum to the ED due to a head injury. Blood had been pouring out her head for 2 hours even with pressure on it. They were worried about the amount of blood she had lost in conjunction with some of her other medical issues. Just as we went through triage the bleeding had only just stopped. We waited for over 3 hours. This is a lot longer than the average wait time listed for the ED. When I asked how much longer it would be I got told because her head was no longer actively bleeding that they werenā€™t concerned at all and we could be waiting for much longer. I then asked for the emergency fee back because they obviously werenā€™t going to see her in a timely manner. I then got told I had to wait for the nurse and then when I mentioned both myself and the doctor were concerned about the amount of blood lost the response I got was I could sit there and wait longer but we were very low on the priority list or to just take her back to the doctor who had told me to take her to the ED. We feel like our concerns were not taken seriously enough.

I had a surgical procedure done and required an overnight stay. This was my 1st experience of this particular hospital and, although there seems to be a staff shortage, I only have the highest regard and praise for the nursing staff. They were absolutely wonderful patient and attentive. I think the meals menu was rather poor, but as I didn't go there for the food but medical treatment, I shouldn't complain.

Avoid this hospital. Treated badly. Asked for Panadol and got treated like I was crazy. They donā€™t care and wonā€™t listen. Patrica from the complaints department was difficult and refused to apologise. Better off at home looking after my own health needs than to trust their doctors and nurses

Arrive At 7pm, partner had broken foot and was taken in to sign in and then placed in waiting room with no pain assist as others were offered pain assist in waiting area. Finally at 10 pm on Saturday 3rd of February we approached reception and nurse sent for Triage lady who we said this wasnā€™t good enough and she explained we are very busy and will organise pain tablets and ice pack, finally just after 11pm doctor came in said fracture but in very good position on foot and an orderly fitted moon bootšŸ¤”which will stay on for 6 weeks, once in after 11pm all was good, but admission was poorly done ā˜‘ļø

Because weā€™d not been there before we found it impossible to navigate and walked a very long way . My husband who is 94 and walks with a stick struggled. The concierge Kat was wonderful and went to extraordinary lengths to be helpful and saved the day. Took us where we needed to go and rescued us at the end of our appointment. We were just so grateful. Wish there were more like her. Thank you.

What an amazing hospital and staff. Visited the ER due to complications of my tonsillectomy operation. Was seen instantly and given immediate pain relief. I am only 17 and get extreme anxiety from the hospitals and the nurses were beyond helpful for me. I felt like their first priority and was treated like a human not a number. The staff go above and beyond for the patients here. If you want real care and to feel valued I absolutely recommend Knox as itā€™s such a friendly place not to mention the facilities here are beyond quality. Thanks so much Knox staff!

My wife was rushed, in an ambulance, to Hospital with Chest Pains... we could've gone go Maroondah (public) but the Ambos thought we'd get better and more urgent medical attention at Knox Private. The Knox Private Emergency Department care rated 3 /5 at best... they would've scored lower if not for one particular nurse who was fantastic. The other nurses couldn't care less and the doctor on duty was must've spent all of 90 seconds talking about her medical condition... instead he was more focused on persuading us to check-in to the ward for monitoring and an angiogram that same evening. No sooner we signed the paperwork, the angiogram was pushed to the next day and after 8 hours of virtual neglect (no doctor, nurses had no clue what meds were prescribed and administered, etc.), we were told that the angiogram was only going to be a couple of days later... the assumption being that we would be happy to sit in hospital and charge our stay to our Private Medical Cover. The medical care at the Ward gets a 0/5 score, only because we give the a lower score. Not once did a Cardiologist see the patient, who was rushed to emergency by Ambulance. Knox Private is a business first and a hospital second. Stay away.

Landed on both my wrists in a netball game and was terrible pain, called the hospital before coming in and was told to come into emergency. Waited 5 hours to get a bilateral x ray. Finally after being taken for an X-ray the imaging staff were only going to X-ray one wristā€¦ what? I had to demand that I was told when being admitted I would be getting both wrists an X-ray (after waiting so long there was no way I was going to leave only having ONE wrist checked for a break) as I had landed on both wrists. Finally they did. I had to pay $450 just to talk to someone and just to go through admission. My private health insurance covered nothing. I was sent out two seperate invoices, one for two seperate X-rays plus another seperate invoice for an arm sling from this hospital, I was never explained of these costs at the hospital. So now I have to pay just shy of $300 in these extra costs after returning back home. Totalling nearly $750! I was provided no aftercare or further advice on what I found out was a hairline fracture elsewhere! :( What a jokeā€¦. Generally I have immense respect for the healthcare industry but I do not believe this is fair treatment. Iā€™m so angry and feel like my money was taken and was not provided with adequate care. I have attended this hospital since I was young but now I donā€™t want to ever come back in fear of having my money taken and not actually getting proper care or given upfront information on what the out of pocket costs may be. The system does not work and it needs to change. I should of just gone to a public hospital, Iā€™ve leant my lesson now.

I had a total knee replacement in March ā€˜23 and the two bed ward was dirty. The nurses took far too long to answer the call bells when I was in excruciating pain. I didnā€™t eat for 4 days while thete because the food was disgusting. I was left on a bed pan at night for up to an hour and one time wry the bed because the night nurse didnā€™t come for over half an hour even though I called out. They had to roll me in the bed to change the sheets and it caused excruciating pain and I had to asked to be washed from the urine all over me and a clean gown it was a dreadful experience and as an ex ED nurse myself I felt the cate was non existent. Couldnā€™t wait to be transferred to Melbourne Eastern rehabilitation hospital which was incredibly clean, food restaurant, quality and all the staff here, very attentive to me from the cleaners, and the allied staff along with the nurses, I couldnā€™t fault them. Such a contrast to Knox private and I wouldnā€™t recommend it.

We saw Dr Varna Amarasinghe in ED. He didnā€™t explain the treatment process well and therefore we asked a few questions to help us understand. He was very hostile and short with us and cut us off when we spoke multiple times. When we tried to clarify and address his hostility kindly, it just got worse. I am an ED nurse at another hospital and I would never speak to patients that way. It was atrocious. Dr Varna also didnā€™t even assess my brother clinically. We would like to question why we paid $470 for this lack of medical help and poor treatment. Definitely wonā€™t be coming back and wouldnā€™t recommend. Dr Varnas bedside manner is disgraceful, we couldnā€™t wait to get out of there.

I came in via emergency. I was seen straight away on Christmas Eve morning and given pain relief instantly. I was then well looked after in ER until I was moved to the cardiac ward as my heart had gone into AF caused by severe stomach pain. I was given every test possible and cared for by beautiful staff. Dr Michael Rowe was wonderful as was Ken Tan. I was moved to Warratah wing where they did more tests and determined my gallbladder had to be removed. Mr Rudolph performed the operation and I came out of surgery needing no pain relief and feeling hungry. From ho to woe my experience was first class. The staff were always amazing and the food was great

Very professional and friendly staff, doctors, nurses etc. I cam in to emergency in severe pain and fever. I was attended to promptly and began the diagnosis My rooms were clean and very attentive staff. My stay was 7 days and I never had to press the nurse call button at all. They always came in regularly to check how I was, if I needed anything. It's a pity more happy people dont post good reviews, it's always the complainers. Other than me being sick, was good experience.

E.D. was a little daunting at 5am as seemed to be no one around. Had to sign usual paperwork, then was waiting a short time. Into a bed. Nursing staff, ward doctors were great. (I have been an inpatient for surgeries in past at this hospital but was my first experience with E.D.) Yes, they were busy. Yes, it was wee hours but I was in agony, severe high blood pressure, vomiting.Took forever to get neurolgy to come. Could not do CT or MRI till later that day. Ugh. Delays can be fatal! Was admitted. Two bed ward. I know they are full up but I have severe CPTSD and requested transfer as soon as reasonable. Total mix ups, no one seemed to have my notes. I was distressed but understanding. Dietician was fantastic as I have many food intolerances etc. Nurses were so caring and truly made my stay comfortable. One in particular was so observant of my silent distress and dealt with it, I take my hat off to her. I was disappointed generally as had better stays at other hospitals and E.D's. Yet I know they were renovating and had issues. 3 stars are for the nursing staff!!!

I had a hip replacement operation with Mr Ma and his team last month. The nursing care at Knox was exceptional. Mr Ma clearly outlined the treatment I needed and what I could expect from the surgery. I was walking without crutches two weeks after my operation following the prescribed physio exercises. The at-home nurses visits and physio were very helpful. I would recommend this hospital and the Orthopaedic Care Group to anyone needing relief from bone pain.

I was referred by my GP after a severe laceration to my left index finger! I arrived with GP referral for review by plastic surgeon due to the depth of my laceration and loss of feeling! After paying my $470 which I didnā€™t mind as I thought I would receive appropriate care, I waited over 5 hours! I thought this was excessive as there was only 2 patients ahead of me! I understand the priority system & accept that! After a lovely nurse took me through I waited again for a long period of time! The doctor came in and spent less than a minute inspecting my injury and told me that he will glue the wound! Waited again and doctor roughly glued my wound and sent me on my way! I attended my GP approximately 5 days later to which she was horrified that my wound was completely open and that no plastic surgeon was called! I was immediately referred to a plastic surgeon at Ringwood Private who had to perform urgent micro surgery to debride and repair a severed nerve and partially severed tendon!!! This is only the start of what has happened to me!!! Iā€™m absolutely devastated and disgusted with my supposed treatment and care!!! All of my medical team keep apologizing to me that this even happened to me!!! Clearly not there fault but the damage has been done!!l!

Just reading these reviews reignites my hate for this hospital. Every time I drive passed the place I suffer PTSD. The last time I was there in 2021 was for a knee injury I did at the gym which I told staff. The emergency room doctor walked into the cubicle put one figure on my sore knee for a total of two seconds and said it was gout. I told him it was not gout and it was an injury. He said: "I am the doctor here". I said I needed an MRI which he refused. I had three days of tests for gout which showed up negative and I then finally got my MRI after constant pushing which confirmed I had chondromalcia patella (runner's knee). They pushed me on me bed to get my steroid injection. The wheels on my bed were third world and one of them would not roll straight and we ended up taking a big chip out of the wall. It was a health risk to the staff who had to use all their force to move the bed in a straight line. The staff said there are several beds in this condition. Before discharge a physiotherapist said I could not go home until I passed a stair test because I had 15 stairs to my front door. I told her I can walk around to the back door to avoid any stairs. She kept saying: "But what way do you normally walk"? I said "the front door but I can walk around the back until my knee gets better". She said "no you must do the stair test or I cannot discharge you". I said to her "but with chondromalacia patella it is advised that patients do not walk up and down stairs so your test will aggravate it further". She did not give a toss and said I could not go home unless I did the stair test. I just did the test to get out of that place. I have never come across such incompetence. I have no faith in the medical profession. They do not like it when a patient contradicts them. And to still have four bed wards in a private hospital is a disgrace. On a previous admission I was put in a four bed ward with one visitor violating visiting hours and stayed all day long. Staff could not have cared less. I complained and for pay back was sent to maternity. After reading all the other complaints below me and now realise there was no point making a complaint at the time. It seems everyone gets a copy and paste response and nothing is ever done about it.

Admitted my boy aged son into hospital with a referral from a doctor stating it was highly likely to be apendicitis; and paid the $470 admission fee, then the $200 CT scan. Two hours later, i was told that they could not operate on kids, and told to make my own way to the Monash Childrens. Why the hospital admitted my son, when they did not have the capability to operate, yet charged me for the privilege, i can not understand. The KPH Nurse's response was that the hospital is interested in the money. I tend to agree. Have sent messages on KPH's portal about my experience. No response. Extremely poor professional conduct, despite having good medical care here in the past.

July 2021 as an inpatient following surgery at Knox Private Hospital, I could not have been happier. I took my 85yo mother to the ED and could not have been treated better. The staff, Doctors and Nurses were friendly, kind, caring and easy to talk to. Waiting time was explained to us (not that we had to wait long at all) and the care was excellent. Well worth the consult ED fee. I would recommend Knox Private Hospital to anyone. We couldn't be happier.

In for day surgery and ended up staying the night. What great modern facilities. The care and attention from all the staff from the minute I walked in to the nurses are wonderful and attentive. I wasnā€™t there for the food, but I reckon if I stayed any longer Iā€™d be putting on weight! A couple of observations, pickup and drop off is free for 30 minutes but you still need to scan your parking ticket to get out of parking lot. Allow reasonable amount of time to find your way to surgery or consultant rooms and to check in at admission. There is quite a reasonable walk so allow for this. Almost need a gps! But well signposted My experience, excellent.

I took my son in suffering from Croup early on the morning of Xmas Eve. We had a lovely nurse but the doctor was very happy to provide steroids and discharge. No script or treatment plan offered and a simple ā€˜bring him back if he gets any worseā€™. $340 and we were in & out in under 2 hours from entering ED to being back in the car. My son worsened and so we returned just before 5pm. He was coughing every 15-20 seconds and was distressed. We waited 2 hours before I asked for his temperature to be taken, which took over 20 minutes before anyone came out to us. At this point weā€™d been in the waiting room for almost 2hrs 30mins and I asked if there was any way - seeing we were returned patients and that my son was quite unwell - that he could be seen ASAP, I was told that I was more than welcome to take my son elsewhere if I wasnā€™t happy to continue waiting. I took my son and left, and will be looking to lodge a formal complaint as soon as the holiday period concludes.

I recently spent 2 nights in Knox private hospital and I will never go this hospital again as a patient, I went in with chest pain and was lucky I didnā€™t catch gastro or Covid, in a 4 bed ward my first night the lady I was in with had diarrhoea which was on the floor near my bed which was only a few feet away from the toilet door and I stepped in it and we were sharing a toilet, I asked for the bathroom to be cleaned which was only half done, the next night I was in with a lady who the following morning was moved out with suspected Covid also sharing a bathroom with this person, on the night of the 1st of January I showered leaving my dirty towels on the floor which were still there on the 2nd of January at 6.30pm when I left, no one had cleaned the bathroom, my last day 2 men came in to my ward which we were told even though itā€™s a 4 bed ward only 2 people will be in the room, I was glad to be discharged, all the renovations at Knox are lovely but I think the money would have been better spent on the wards, the price that was charged for this room is disgusting, my husband was recently in box hill public hospital and had a nicer room than I was in Risby ward bed 6, all the staff were lovely and I have no complaints about them, Iā€™d like to discuss this further with management.

Today, I had a hysteroscopy at the Knox hospital, which is a one day procedure. After returning home, I found a blood blister in my mouth and a small amount of subcutaneous bleeding on my upper right arm. Due to the general anesthesia, Iā€™m not aware of the details of the surgical procedure or what might have happened. I feel quite uneasy about it.

I had a painful ankle from falling off stairs, went to this emergency as i thought its a private one and faster than public. I entered 12:30 I couldn't walk on my leg so they put me on wheelchair , No one was in that room except me and an old lady. Straight away they charged me $500 out of pocket. I waited untill 2:30 and no one called my name. I told them i have 2 babies at home and sick partner and no one else so please attend to me. At 3:40 a teenager with sprained ankle came in with her parents. She could walk so her condition was better than mine. Straight away the took her in and they took me at same time in room next to her.the nurse welcomed they as they were in a hotel! Been offered food and drink and dr came to see them and took the girl for xray while i was sitting there thirsty( i asked triage nurse for water and she said i cant have it before dr see me) i was so angry and frustrated and complained that i am waiting for so long but because that teenager know somebody in ER department the attended to the fast!!so unfair.so disgusting. Im gonna complain to head of ER and will never come back to that horrible place.

I have already forwarded an email expressing our enormous appreciation of the attention given to my wife Cynthia Kerley in your emergency department on Sunday 28th May 2023. Subsequently Cynthia was admitted to Chesterfield Ward Room 23 on the same date. The wonderful care and attention provided her by all the staff was absolutely superb. From the specialist doctors, to the nurses and ward staff their empathy and caring was excellent. Also the lady who assisted her with her discharge at 10.00am on 1st June, was again lovely and so helpful with the process. PLEASE PASS ON OUR HEARTFELT APPRECIATION TO ALL OF THE PEOPLE RELATIVE TO HER CARE.

Recently, I had a keyhole operation done at knox private. The experience was smooth and trouble-free. Of course, we all want to be admitted the moment we arrive, but I understand it is a priority-based system. During my two-night stay, the nurses took extra steps in providing care that I would describe as almost hotel like service. Though they were clearly very busy, when attending to me, they paid attention and listened. I particularly appreciated their proactive approach; for example, they regularly checked on my pain levels. To summarise, I felt safe and informed throughout my stay. I take my hat off to the nurses from the Waratah ward. Oh, by the way, the doctors there are pretty awesome as well.

I undertook total hip replacement surgery in this hospital on 7 March. I was out of hospital on 11 March and I am now already able to walk on my own without aid or support (20 March). The nursing staff was very attentive to details to make me comfortable and pain-free. After discharge from hospital , the hospital arranged to send nurses and physiotherapists to come to my home to give after-care rehab service which is extraordinary - I highly recommend this hospital to anyone thinking about hospitalisation and treatment.

Exceptional treatment. First time have stayed in a hospital. Presented to Emergency on the 13th with a spider bite that resulted to the leg which resulted in Cellulitis and a resultant 4 day stay in hospital. The professional of all the staff was really great and whilst I didnā€™t want to be there, they all showed caring and understanding. Whilst no one wants to go to hospital, I can definitely recommend Knox if you have to.

Waited for emergency from 10am to 7pm with my fiance, paid $470, finally got admitted and was told by the nurse that I could call the hospital the following morning to know when she would be discharged the following morning as she needed to go to theatre for a surgery. Called the following morning and was rudely told that I wasn't listed as her next of kin as I'm not either of her parents and was told to try again when the next set of staff took over their shift. Does this not tell me that you just couldn't be bothered letting me know when to pick my fiance up? Didn't check any details, didn't bother confirming anything, just told me to get lost or try again later.
