The initial impression was pretty good and I continued my training till the corona virus hit us. The membership I took was for 6 months and I thought that my membership was done and I moved out from my place. Few months back when I was checking my bank statements and found out that they were still deducting money. So I decided to go directly and talk with them. After talking with their staff, I got to know that my membership was suspended during the lockdown time and again got resumed. Without any empathy and even after explaining about my financial hardship, they were asking me to either pay the full pending amount for the 6 months contract or the cancellation fee in which both were too much for me to afford at that time. They were saying about some government regulations and stuffs. At least they could have notified me about restarting the membership. I would have cancelled it right away. Pathetic!!!! Their contract agreement is more or less like a money stealing piece of paper which you have to go through thoroughly unless you don’t want to loose money. Edit: After the reply I was shocked to hear that I have been informed before hand. So I decided to check my mails and that attempt failed. Because I couldn’t find one among my inboxes saying whatever mentioned in the reply. Only welcome mail, first payment failed and membership cancellation mails. Nothing else other that that. I could clearly see how you are contradicting the negative reviews. Be honest at-least. How can so many people complain about your money stealing scheme?? If it was only me I could have admitted that it might be my mistake. Same mistakes can’t happen to a bunch of people.

Fantastic club with excellent customer service! I love the classes you guys have to offer and I absolutely love the class Animal! It has taught me resilience and to push myself to be my very best & has changed my life!

Great location and spacious gym. Recently renovated the facility area and now fitted with great amenities. If you are interested in group classes such as spin or yoga every day there is something for you to do.. Staff are friendly and approachable. Machines are in good condition and loads of free weights as well. best to avoid generic lunch time. There is a separate ladies only area. Overall great place to workout.

I would highly recommend - this is an excellent gym and facilities. All the staff and instructors are friendly and exceptional at coaching/ training as well. Extremely reasonably priced as well for the city!

1. rude staff 2. no music- how can a gym not play any music? 3. they tricked me into a contract and promissed whenever I want I can leave and to come back there wont be any joining fee , after months of being a member I go to stop my membership and I am planning to go back I am just busy at the moment and they say :oh if you want to come back there is again a membership fee, I explained that I was promissed that this joining fee would not apply by a member of their team but they said that member does not work here and they are sorry :| did rip off several of my friends whom I referred to them so I would not recommend such place with such low ethics

My gym when working in the CBD, not as much as I did but love visiting, the staff are great. Not as big as some facilities but its a great training space. Good emails and messages sent during covid. Recommend to CBD users

THEIVES - DO NOT GIVE DIRECT DEBIT ACCESS - sneaky communications, taking of funds even after explict instructions to stop, refusing to provide refunds (all of which commonly reported in these reviews). Sadly their approach is all about extracting every last dollar from the customer in the short term rather than building a positive long term relationship

Great gym and facilities. However, I was pretty gutted by the lack of empathy shown by staff when cancelling my membership as a result of hardship caused by coronavirus. I was charged a huge cancellation fee I could barely afford which I felt was unfair given the circumstances. Update: I can’t respond to Genesis’ comment below, but have proof that the payment of $79.80 was taken and have emailed them regarding this issue, but have not received a response.

Excellent and clean gym facility that feels very comfortable with friendly staff. Variety of equipment and exercise space for all your training needs. Highly recommend!

I would personally like to thank this gym, when covid hit they allowed me so much time to decide if I was coming back and sent and email and a text to me. With the CBD it has become hard, so we cancelled. we did trained for free though from January until March as everybody could. i could thank this gym enough. Not everybody left the city.

Zone 1 trainers are absolutely fantastic. Oli attends to me like I'm the only one there. Thumbs up to Jess and Ingrid too.

What a terrible service. I am so dissaponted of this gym. I have cancelled my membership with them too long ago. Some of the reasons were that the first payment I did they took more money than they told me, after that I had too many problems with the payment and finally when I decided to cancel my membership I went there pay the extra fee and everything was okay according to them and today I got and email saying final payment dishonour notice because I have a dept with them which is not true. What a poor service.

The guys at Genesis Lonsdale St are great. Very friendly and really interested in helping everyone achieve their personal goals. The Coaching Zone classes are fantastic. The team really motivate you to try your best which means you get great results. I’m amazed how they not only manage to learn everyone’s name but remember the exercises you want to do from class to class. It really makes you feel part of the community.

Be Very Very Very careful when signing contract ... or Cancelling .. Poor customer centric application. Due to potentially application glitch, my cancellation did not go through ... after returning holidays noticed the deductions. I had to physically go in to cancel the membership ..Again. Overall Poor customer-centric business .. They can see in their system that I did not visit the club since 4 Dec 17 ...But three month later, I have and still have to pay $17 per week. Customer service is also questionable when business are operating on such a viscous tactic .. that said I have come across some good coach and staff.

Really disappointed, I was told I would be sent a spec sheet via email and msg and was made to believe that the process would be easy. Doubt I was taken serious as I am a P plater looking for an SUV (coming from a mustang) and have always had a soft spot for genesis, it just disappoints me that I don’t even get taken serious and puts me off entirely from the brand. Was hoping I would be remembered as my name and details were taken down by someone with the same name as me.

Awesome and patience staff. Comes off strong a bit though. If suspending membership, the suspended period still doesn't count into contract but still takes money for each week. Extends the contract for the time taken of the suspension period. Other facilities are fantastic and good team and trainers.

One of the worst gyms, I have ever been. Staff is unhelpful and the machines are old with 1-2 seats even broken. If you are looking for a good gym with friendly staff, this is definately not the place.

One of the best value gyms in the city with motivating trainers who really care about your personal goals. Nice bathrooms with straighteners, hairdryers and even an iron board for the office workers :)

The area is too small,obviously not enough space or equipment.Servie is bad,said membership has no cancellation free but a 30 days of notice,if you forgot to cancel ,still need to pay for an extra month.Dont recommend at all...bad experience.

I would normally give this gym four stars. It’s clean, it has plenty of decent exercise equipment, and the bathrooms are alright (they have complementary blow dryers in the ladies’ room which is nice). Of the three times I’ve been here I’ve only seen a staff member once despite searching for one when I needed assistance, so they’re definitely lacking in customer service. The thing that really annoys me is the fact that they basically aren’t open on weekends. The have limited morning hours on saturdays and are completely closed on Sundays. It’s just unbelievable.

The place is ok.... so long as you never want to cancel, or exercise on a weekend

Excellent fitness centre with tons of equipment and a number of group classes. The staff are very cordial and helpful. Would highly recommend as it is one of the best value gyms in the CBD.

Easily the best gym in Melbourne. Best price and best service. I pay less than half than I was paying and they have more classes than Fitness First. I can't understand any bad reviews as there are other options in the city they are just $25 a week more than here. Easily the best

I train at Multiple Genesis locations each month and this is by far one of the better ones. The service is great always friendly. The gym is very clean and well maintained. Much better than where I use to train for double the price!!! This gym is under 1/2 the price of all the gyms in the city and better

One of the most experienced & committed trainers around and always a smiling face which spreads positive vibes:) I started training, as part of a coaching zone session, really enjoyed the variety & challenge they put into the sessions & then took on a personal one-on-one session as well!

If no starts was an option that would be my choice - the out-dated facilities at this gym do not make up for the disgustingly rude staff and management who lack customer service skills completely. A previous review mentions them as flexible - what a joke. I am so glad to be cancelled and moving on to a gym equally as reasonably priced with staff who actually know how to treat people. Seems like the rude pig headed attitude filters directly from management down to the workers - good riddance.

These people are very unprofessional. Visited the gym thrice as per their staff hours but could not find anyone from the staff members , contact number on google also does not belong to the club , it gets connected to some third party payment service . Overall very frustrating and annoying experience.
