The lake and walking trails here are beautiful and peaceful. There is also lots of grass space for children and dogs to run around or for picnics. There are a few large seating/BBQ areas which are perfect for gatherings. They also have a decently sized playground for children. Overall a wonderful park :-)

Great large park. Nice walking trail around a lake with good hills for a workout. Bbq area with tables and chairs and playground for the kids and toilets. Lots of wife open space for running around with dogs and kids. Few water fountains all around.

This is such an amazing playground that also provides a walk for any and all abilities. The playground itself has is much like your traditional playground and can be seen to be aging in several areas. However this doesn't limit the amount of fun that can be had. There are 5 public toilets which seemed to be cleaned every few days. There is are so many seating areas throughout the playspace as well as beside the walking track as well. Covered tables are also available. There are so many tracks surrounding the park which provide much enjoyment.

Great big park with lots of hills and slopes, good place to get some sunshine. Ample parking around the area but can get quite busy, especially on weekends. Even with a full park, there is plenty of space to walk though, and plenty of space for kids and dogs to run around. Cycling is also fine if you can handle the slopes. Lots and lots of grass, some very lovely sights to see on the walking circuits as well. Got ducks here.

It's a large and leafy park that certainly has it all! The lake in the park is beautiful and there's a lot of wildlife. There are several walking trails and bike tracks as wells as exercise areas and playgrounds. There are also sheltered tables where you can enjoy a large picnic with family and friends. There's ample parking and public toilets too.

Ruffey Lake Park is local to me and I have been there a hundred times all over the park. Today for the first time I experienced the Disc Golf course activity with two of my sons. This course is a terrific activity and winds it’s way through open areas and treed areas, taking in a variety of the terrain the park has to offer. It was a marvellous way to get some exercise, breath in the fresh and see the nice panoramic vistas on the high side of the park whilst having fun trying to keep your disc golf score looking good. It was great to see quite a few people playing this game in the park, including beginners and some that looked fairly serious with their disc buggies and other gear. Apart from Disc Golf, I love this park because of its size and variety of open area, lake, kms of windy paths, playgrounds. The park is serviced well by seating, bbqs, toilets at 3 corners of the park and general parking convenience. I have been to few events here as well including the Christmas Carols and the Food Truck Festival. This park is well worth a trip here even if you are a little out of the area. It is hard for me to find fault. Remember that there are no trash cans, so be prepared to take your rubbish home if you have any.

relaxing place with fairly big playground, there’s 2 main big slides and other smaller slides. there’s obstacles, 2 swings (adult / normal ones), there’s also flying fox. kangaroos are cheeky and friendly, if you go at certain times it can be really piece full with almost no other people and kangaroos more likely to come out. there’s seats to do picnic or to just sit and watch the kangaroos

One of our favourite parks as it has many off leash areas and there are lots of water fountains and bins as well. Above all it has a great variety of walks in a beautiful setting.

Very spacious park and has a pretty lake (as per it's name lol)! There are lots of birds and cute ducks if you're into birdwatching and there is a large playground + eating facilities. A good portion of the park is a dog off leash area.

Great vibe of a park. Grass is regularly mowed and typically no litter to be found. Incredible place to go with friends to watch a sunset view and the playground is very fun to play on. To go for the trampolines is a must :)

Fabulous, I love it, dogs love it. Plenty of space, you can't walk some many paths at your own pace. Hill work great to keep fit or stay on flat.

A lovely open park with undulating hills and good walking-cycling tracks. There's a historical bullock cart ford crossing along the track. Picturesque views of the lake. Signage at one of the entrances tell you about other significant historical information of the place. Drinking fountains availability near the Victoria street playground end. Rubbish buns provided near there too. A well maintained toilet block is located near the playground. The Ruffey Creek trail nearby is worth exploring. The track in the park goes through more open spaces so it can get rather hot in summer.

My local park boasts good walking trails and is dog-friendly. While there are snake-prone areas, well-marked by park rangers, the lovely lake in the middle enhances the experience. I recommend visiting early morning or late afternoon to avoid the crowds. A 5-star recommendation!

I walked around the lake last year but had forgotten how beautiful it was. As my pictures show, the clouds were magnificent this time round. Maps showing your current position were now located at every junction of the paths and I found this extremely helpful.

Lovely walk with several different entry points. Great playgrounds and covered BBQ's. Lake is beautiful. Dogs are allowed - areas marked on lead or off lead. Accessible to prams and wheelchairs, but is hilly in places. Well worth a visit!

Best place in Melbourne to take dogs off lead.

  • 5/5 Amy D. 4 years ago on Google
Such a lovely place to visit with your family or dog. The park offers a large off-lead dog and we’ve only met very friendly dogs who love to play. Please be mindful of snakes in warmer days and try to keep your dog out of long grass. If you’re bringing young children please remind them not to run in the off-lead section as dogs live to chase anything that is running. We come here often to walk our dog and let her have a great run around with new friends.

Great off lead dog park. A lot of space available if you’ll like to exercise your dog away from others, but otherwise around the footpaths there are a lot of dogs for your pooch to make friends and interact with. Lots of swimming options from shallow to deep for the dogs in summer (swimming is discouraged for health reasons but still allowed). Many different pathways and tracks to explore so the park stays interesting even after many visits.

The main gate to the Victoria St. carpark currently closes at 10pm and is supposed to open when a car approaches it on the inside to leave...but it is staying closed. Lately I've seen people, on two occasions, stuck inside the gate, not realising that there's another exit to the north. The park needs a lot more paths, gravel surface preferred.

It is so lovely to go to Ruffey Lake Park any day, any time. The trees, bushes, beautiful lake force you to connect to the mother nature... endless grassland, mature trees, walking trails, bike trails, flowers are just amazing. This is a great place for a walk or a family frolic. There are a range of different playgrounds that are suitable for kids of different ages. When you need some quieter time (those playgrounds get understandably loud and busy) or want to stretch your legs, there are beautiful walks around the lake.

My daily go-to park for walking the dog. Beautiful scenery, lovely off-leash areas for the dog and a large park with lots of different areas to explore. People who frequent the park are considerate; they clean up after their dogs and most people seem to be happy to have a chat. Great family park for the kids too.

How come I missed this hidden gem for so long... It's a perfect place for Dog walk, bike ride, e-scooter ride. If your better half is busy in shopping at Westfield Doncaster, you can spend good time with kids over Here.. very well maintained and quick connectivity..

This is my first time visiting the Ruffey Lake Park . It is a very big park , with 3 different entrances . I have found a big children's playground, Disc Golf Course, many BBQ areas and walking trails. Yesterday was too sunny and hot, I could only visit part of the park.

Love this local park in doncaster, you can see people coming here to have picnic, walk, jog, bbq, walk their dogs and having fun in the playground, and I’ve done all! Recently they’ve added the gym facilities to the park, love it!

Great park and super kid and dog friendly. They have a couple of play areas and a pretty large off leash dog area as well

A huge park that has free BBQs and public restrooms available. The entire park is dog friendly. Dogs can be off lead except near the BBQ area. Plenty of shar available. The only downside is that parking can be lacking in sunny days.

A beautiful park with multiple areas that are off leash friendly for your dog (be mindful that no area is enclosed so you're dog must have really good recall), plenty of seatings, places for your dog to have a little swim, water fountains and a gorgeous trail to follow through the park.
