Beautiful picnic area, Ideal place to bring kids or visit with friends and relatives. Lake Paddle boat hire. Cafe lots of trees Walking path A swimming pool that is open in summer (subject to temperatures being above 26) Kids play ground Swings, slides Outdoor Gym Toilets Barbecue area You are advice to reserve these areas as crowds can be huge on sunny days. Reasonable Parking area. May be a challenge on sunny days. Added attraction is model railway station

It was scenic and a good place for picnic and walk around. There are paddle boats for hire, but at the moment they are closed due to COVID. There are plenty of tables to sit and paths to walk on. There are toilets. A newly built railways cafe. An ice cream shop near the lake - it's a little hidden but if you walk around, you will find it next to the station on the left side.

Awesome place Emerald Lake! - Great place to visit with family and friends for a picnic. 🍴Cafe on-site 💰 Free to enter 🚻 Public toilets 🏎 Parking is terrible. You are better off parking at the heritage site or Pepi's land and taking a beautiful walk down the Eastern Dandenong Ranges Trail. ------------- 🔄 Repeatability: Will definitely be back!

Very beautiful. Lots of open space for park related activities. Few decent picnics and BBQ areas. And most importantly, puffing billy station. Cafes around the area are also pretty decent.

We had a great experience visiting the Emerald lake park, one of the best picnic spots we have been to! The boating, walking trails, cycling and to top it up, puffing Billy Station is amazing. Kids loved watching the trains, and it was such an amazing day. Would love to go back again

A beautiful Victorian park that we used to it! It’s our first choice for having a picnic! There are pedal boats that you can hire and walk on the river! Also, you can bring your bikes here, and ride among beautiful trees in the fresh forests! Watching the Billy train is also another attraction in this park! Highly recommended!

Great destination for a day trip from Melbourne or via Puffing Billy from Belgrave, where it's the last station on the line. Especially in summer when the pool is popular for swimming and Autumn when the display of Autumn leaves is stunning. Lots of shady trees and green lawn areas to picnic on, Tables and benches, BBQs if you want, playground for kids and up near the Puffing Billy station a model train museum and walks through the landscape if you feel like it. It can be extremely busy on weekends and difficult to find parking, which you have to pay for. Several toilets around the park as well as a kiosk down near the water and paddle boat rental.

What a fabulous trip through the hills for anyone who enjoys trains and even if you don't. Would appreciate better signage at Belgrave station to and back from Puffing Billy station. Volunteers were excellent and gave us special treatment. Thank you. We went 1st glass and that was a bit of fun with a glass of wine and a 🧀 board. Love to do it all again.

One of the best parks I’ve have been to in recent years. Vote this for #touristattractions in Melbourne, Victoria as a must to visit. 1 hour drive from the Melbourne city. Loved this place 💫✨

Beautiful park with a lake and bike paddling available in the lake… There are 7 walking trails in the park with easy to tough walking levels. There is also a model train museum that one can enjoy here. There are multiple restaurants in the park, which are mostly open till 4 pm. It’s a great place for picnic in large groups.

Extremely scenic lake and surrounding parkland. Free barbecues, kiosk, puffing Billy train station, and model railway shed and display. Hire boats from park rangers office. I would happily recommend this park if you find yourself in the vicinity of Emerald

It's pretty and a nice place to have a paddle with the paddle bikes in the water and maybe a picnic, but does get quite busy. The car park was packed full with people searching for a spot.. we were lucky, but nearly left without stopping.

There is a swimming pool for the kiddies will definitely be going back very soon. The team is wonderful as always.

Spent such a beautiful day here at Emerald Lake Park with my husband and my dog. Such a beautiful place this is, and I had no idea I could bring my dog, she loved walking around and having so much to look at , plus there is a coffee shop stocked with everything and with plenty of seating outside.

Nice park and picturesque lake with BBQ facilities and toilets. There are many walking trails with various difficulties and duration to choose from. Can hear, see and even hop on a Puffing Billy train. There is a cafe too. How nice is that!

Wheelchair friendly location with lots of walking trails around. There are playgrounds for the kids, a cafe with reasonably priced food, drinking fountains and toilets. Paid attractions such as Puffing Billy, Model Train Museum and paddle boats are popular with visitors.

A scenic and relaxing stopover in the Dandenong Ranges, offering trails to stroll through the temperate rainforest, spots to picnic and paddle boats on the lake. Next to the park is the model railway museum and the historic Puffing Billy steam train. You can ride it and enjoy the charm of a bygone era. Emerald Lake Park is a gem to visit.

We drove down here the other day to explore. We took the doggo for a walk to the wishing well, and played on the exercise equipment. There are several large sheltered eating areas as well as several small ones over looking the lake. Paddle boats for hire, a paddling pool (which is currently closed), beautiful scenery, a model train museum and of course the iconic puffing Billy station.

Beautiful spot. Combination of shady and ferny walks around the lake and park. Also links to longer walks on the Emerald to Gembrook trail. Sign posting isn't brilliant. Lots of hilly bits and some tracks are quite narrow. Great for a picnic under a tree. Tables, playground, shelter areas with BBQs and toilets are all available. Paid parking. Can get very very busy, but if you explore a bit further from the lake and Steam train station you should be able to find a quiet spot. There are a few interesting finds... A wishing well and miniature railway, as well as the quaint Emerald Museum to find if you look and are willing to wander.

Great place, all day trip or just a few hours. Fishing, walking tracks, close and cheap parking, paddle boats at cheap pricing, plenty of picnic tables, clean toilet facilities and beautiful spot to relax and do not much. Must come back to do the walking tracks as only looked at the playgrounds which aren't too great but there's swings and we saw a kookaburra. There's a workout playground type area as well that's fenced in and everything is well maintained

Awesome place. It's worth the travel to have some strolls and witness the puffing Billy. The station is in the premises itself. And the pedal boat is much relaxing and enjoyable. One of the places that you must not miss out on. The way leading to the Emerald Lake Park is also really good. We visited this winter and it was scenic. I bet it would be a pleasant sight for your eyes.

  • 5/5 Pam A. 2 years ago on Google
Such a beautiful place for a stroll. The Emerald Station to catch Puffing Billy is also located in the same premise. Went there in Winter but it would be fascinating to go in Spring. Lake views beautiful around the year.

Lovely place for a couple or family to spend a quality day. A good walking trail. Lot of spots to have your family lunch, or celebrate bdays. The boating option allows only two people in one boat. So hire multiple boats if you are a big family.

  • 4/5 Vikas A. 1 year ago on Google
The park is good, but not one of the best experiences here. It's okeish type! Not recommended! Still you can visit once to go for the little boat ride (self drive). You can also go for Puffing Billy experience but that too is one time thing.

  • 5/5 Nihar M. 10 months ago on Google
Very nice place for family picnic. Very large area with lake for boating. Just opposite to Emerald Station (steam engine). It has parking which is $2 for two hours and $6 for full day. Park closed at 8pm. BBQ and sitting areas throughout the park. You can do pedal boating in the lake (2 person) which was $17 for 15mins, my 8 years daughter enjoyed a lot however I had to pedal. You can buy coffee, snacks , ice cream from the cafe inside the park if you are not bringing your own. The best part is the nature surrounding with different trees and birds so a must visit place and may not disappoint. You can also enjoy the steam engine train of Puffing Billy from Belgrave station. If coming with kids then some play areas are there.
