Emerald Lake Model Railway

Tourist attraction Model train store

👍👍 One of the best layouts I have seen in years, needs work but you can see where it's going and how good it will turn out to be.. will definitely be going back to check it out in a year or so. People often mention model, railway, trains, visit, kids, work, miniature,

I'd swear this place hasn't changed since I went here 20 years ago! Nor have the prices it seems. It's still awesome for all the childhood memories and Child inside anyone who likes miniature playsets. Some interactive elements - look out for the push-buttons. Great location next to the steam railway station and lake.

Incredible model of the trains, fun for any age/audience! I would recommend this attraction to anybody. The couple that run the place are very nice.

If you like model trains you'll love this. If the kids love trains but you don't send them I and save the dollars on sending yourself in. Bit expensive for what's on offer.

You're up this way, do drop in. the amount of work and obvious love of the hobby that's gone into this exhibit is impressive. I would not say its the most polished of tourist exhibitions, but thats not the point, this is a hobby of passion continued over many owners . Don't rush it, stop and look at the little details, the way the people are posed, the movies showing in the background, the entire environment tells little stories. there will be time enough to rush when you get back to the city. Also keep an eye out for the cute little guard dog :)

Brilliant, super-detailed model. Kids will adore it too. Don't be deterred by the $7 fee. You will likely remember this as much as Puffing Billy!

Great little place for a quick 30mins visit, kids will really enjoy it and imagination at some sections are really awesome. But vehicles at some area are out of scale, some are larger and some are way smaller. Some interactive elements were added with couple of switches around. The visit is totally worth if you around the area as it is not expensive. Overall an enjoyable visit

This station is extremely appealing to me because of the steam trains, the lake, water activities, the picnic area, the cafe, the models, history and decoration. I wanna explore other stations!

Such a fun place to pop into, really sparks the imagination. So many fun little scenes happening. It’s getting a bit old and dusty, but part of the charm. Could definitely do with better lighting, you really have to strain to see the miniatures. But if you’re down at the lake, you’ve gotta pay a visit to the miniature railway.

This was so fun and cool to see. My dad suggested we go after seeing it on google maps and I was very skeptic and not interested at all. But after we went in it was amazing. The amount of work and care put into making and maintaining it is incredible and it’s so cool to see. I would definitely give it a go if you are around the area!

Was a great little visit which makes you feel like a child again. Kids loved it and it also has a couple of animatronics. Yes press the button.

My 3yo loved it. Very intricate railway model. A lot of work went into building it and it's pretty damn impressive if you focus on the level of detail achieved as opposed to just thinking it's just a silly train model. It's a master work of architecture and engineering is what it is.

Really needs some work done to make the scenery a bit more eye catching. Also there are some glaring scale inconsistencies, and the trains routing is just a bit dull. Def not “world class” as suggested.

Old layout. Some buildings slapped on. Others leaning over. Dusty scenery. Noisy loco(ringfield motor?). Mismatch of HO and OO from different eras. Needs an upgrade. The good things are the moving people and lighting. Go

Great Lay Out..!! Lots Of Things For The Kids To Find And Look At.... But Worth Seeing The Lay Out And The Effort They Have Put In.... Plus It Fills In Time While Waiting For Puffing Billy Or Just Another Thing To Do At The Park...!!!

A wonderful place to visit! A short walk from Emerald lake, this miniature railway is a perfect addition to your day in the Dandenongs. So much effort has gone into the railway, and I loved the design of the display. My favourite part of the railway was the tall mountains and seeing the trains zoom past all the scenery. I felt very peaceful but also very curious. The 2 owners are so kind and were happy to have a chat! :) From Zoe

(Translated by Google) The model display hall of the city traffic, there are cargo trains and high-speed trains in the model, it is quite interesting, tickets are 7 knives. (Original) 城市交通的模型展示大厅,模型里有货物列车和高速列车在开,还是蛮有意思的,门票7刀。

Signage leading up all says open, then when we got to the building it appears to have been closed for a long time.
