Visited in early July. I will hopefully never go here again 😅 We saw the snow report note 10cm of snow depth. When we got there, they only had a very small patch of artificial snow, with hundreds of children and parents on toboggans... We weren't allowed access to the other patch of snow. EXCELLENT: ... - NOT-SO-GOOD: -false / extremely wrong snow depth report. - no real snow - very little fake snow - over crowded - $62 per car for this privilege 😅😅😅 You can see my pictures for reference.

Great place in winter to come and play in the snow. The kids had a ball on the toboggan run and playing in the snow. If you are not prepared, you can hire outfits, skis, and toboggans on the mountain. There is a cafe where you can go for a feed or a hot drink or maybe just to get warm.

Very nice and tidy resort. Definitely recommend to anyone who got kids age between 1-10years old. Very good slop for tobogganing and kids play area. Just 2 hours drive from Melbourne CBD. Other activities also there but it was close due to some reason. Will visit again and book other activities too. Over all good experience. First timer should try here first.

Rating 3.5/5 We managed our expectations after reading all the reviews and looking at the photos. We really don't like crowds but wanted Lake Mountain to be the intro to our kids' first snow experience. We took a Monday off instead of visiting on the weekend and pre-purchased our entry ticket online for cheaper entry. It was a great decision as there were more people than expected there on a Monday but certainly more enjoyable than what it would be on the weekend. Virtually no lines as such and everyone there was courteous. We packed all of our own food & drinks which was the perfect choice. We made the most of it and had a great family day. Positives: - Staff there were friendly and helpful - Good facilities - Retail store and gear hire on site - Carpark out front was very close which made for easy trips back & forth - Magic carpet ride was great - Kids loved the tube run - Comfortable & warm seating area for lunch - Small enough so it was easy for kids to get around without being over-tired - Location and ease to get there was very appealing Improvements: - Very small space for tabboganning - Snow play is in the same area and generally on the outskirts of the tabboggan area - The artificial snow was rock hard ice that actually hurt to "snow fight" - Due to small area, many parts of the snow were quite dirty/muddy - Common areas like dining hall and toilets are quite small for days with large crowds - Tube run is only operational part of the day, has only 1 tube run so wait time would be a long on busy days, and it needs a magic carpet here too - Food options at the cafe weren't great and they were pricey

This place is so beautiful. The staff are super friendly and helpful. The bikes are brand new, rent a bike only $50 a day. The bike routes are organized and maintained well. There are many different levels of bike trails around the resort. Highly recommended. Thanks to lovely staff, we had a good time there.

A great day spent at the Lake Mountain Alpine resort. The toboggan run was so much fun. We hired the toboggans from Marysville for $10 before coming up to the mountain. Make sure you buy your tickets in advance online as the mountain tickets were ‘sold out’ on the day. Will definitely visit again soon. A great family day out!

Totally worth the drive if you're in the Marysville area. I've only ever visited during the summer, and was surprised at how quiet the resort was on my last trip, even on a Saturday - it almost had the feel of being closed. But the summit walk has spectacular views from the top and is (just about) suitable for young families. Just walk carefully and look out for wildlife and cyclists.

We had a great day up at Lake Mountain in November. We did a few hikes and hubby did part of the Cascades trail on his Mountain bike. Staff were lovely and knowledgeable. Highly recommend visiting outside of winter time.

Best and nearest place from melbourne to show good amount of snow to little ones. Enjoyed our time . Important things to remember : 1) Pre-purchase Resort Entry tickets online. 2) Get wheel Chains(mandatory to carry for 2wd ), Snow shoes, pants, Toboggan etc on rent if required from “Marysville Ski Centre”.Must know tyre/wheel size for getting chain. Best of luck for your day!

Checked the snowcams and windy to see if it was snowing, and we got lucky! The drive up was spectacular! We went early September to catch not only some beautiful snow, but also see it through some cloud. Make sure to pack some food with you for the trip as most places here close quite early. Plenty of lookouts along the drive, and I recommend a stop at Marysville 🌸

This place is very attractive in winter. the trees were dry and white as far as the eye could see. this place is suitable for all ages to play ice. but it is not recommended to play ice sky here because of the limited playing spac

Nice place for a snow trip if you are planning your trip well. Do not recommend the weekends on school holidays. And the management is also doesn’t have much idea to control crowd. Minimal number of shuttle buses from the parking to the resort which will make you stand & wait in the extreme weather for 20-30 mins. Up at the resort facilities are good , kids will enjoy the place and the cafe serves some hot finger food as well. Take entry tickets well in advance to avoid disappointment.

Great place, we visited on a sunny day, and even though we didn't experience it in the way we wanted, it is still worth a visit as the surrounding nature is stunning. Uninterrupted views. Buy your pass in advance, making things easier. Hiking trails are really good even if you are of a medium fitness level. We will be back in the next snow season.

reached the visitor centre at the foot of the mountain about 10am to rent snow boots and tobbogans, rented skis at the top of the mountain (recommended to do so if you cant fit skis in the car). do have your entry pass purchased and ready before driving up the hill, makes entry much faster as well. there were 2-3 slopes for tobbogan, slightly crowded but the queue doesn't take long. we also purchased the basic ski lessons for beginners and were taught by trevor (super sweet and patient guy!) things are pricey but worth the snow experience and fun memories!!

Great for kids. Close Melbourne. Easy for a day trip. Most of the slopes aren't long enough for adult skiing etc. If you love driving the black spur and the lake mountain run is good too.

I’ve been making the most of this chilly Melbourne weather. Probably the closest snow spot from CBD. Only 2 hrs drive. Roads are pretty good. There has some cafe and restaurants. Highly recommend this place.

We had a nice experience but in general felt that there was no much to do if you are not a kid. There is no licensed cafe or a nice restaurants. Food from the bistro is fine but the place was very dirty (because it was very busy and people were leaving their trash behind them). Our dougther had a blast with a toboggan trail and the tubes. I enjoyed the tubes as well - they are good value for money. 3 rides $10. There was no much snow and we felt that the 360 degrees camera view on web site was misleading. We checked the camera before we left and it looked as if there is a lot of snow. When we arrived, there was almost none. I had a walk to the summit. That was nice. Parkings are big and well regulated. I got a recommendation to come as early as I could to get the spot in the upper parking just next to the toboggans. We arrived around 11.30am and we found a spot but there were only a few left. However, just after lunch - around 1pm the parking was already half empty. I felt that the best time to arrive might be actually in the early afternoon instead.

CAMPING: We tried calling 2 days in a row and didn't get through to anyone. We still decided to go. We arrived after 5pm so the reception wasn't open. There was absolutely no one. As we read the reviews before we still stayed. We parked in the parking lot, the showers were open, warm and very clean. There was drinking water (a fountain) close to the toilets. We went last week and it was very cold. 9 degrees. It was the 1st time in 3 weeks of camping that we saw free wood for a fire. We did a fire cause we were freezing. It felt nice to be warm and also the warm showers. Thank you. I highly recommend.

Driving up to the resort took about an hour from Coburg. Do look at the websites if you need any additional gears, if not you will not be permitted entry. It was a little disappointing as there was no snow when we went (late July). So it was mostly artificial snow. Magic carpet had a lot of issues, kept stalling so we ended up having to walk through it (which sucks because you have to pay to get on it). Nonetheless, it was a fun experience tobaganning (cost about AUD15 for tobaggan and the magic carpet). They have a site where you can picnic as well. So if you want to save cost, you can bring your food up and eat under their huts. Do remember to put on sunscreen, it's scorching hot up there, despite being at 1-2 degrees celcius.

Went for the tobogganing. Fantastic fun between 9am to about 11am. The snow started to get fairly "lumpy", uneven and made it difficult to ride all the way down. The "magic carpet" was on and off and eventually died altogether. No one seemed to care though. The staff were all amazingly helpful. Food was not too bad and reasonably priced. Overall very enjoyable experience for the kids.

Snow covered bush walk to summit and alps lookout has amazing experience. Experience snow in near to city. Great place o go with family and tobangane for kids. There is Cafe and rental for snow gears with locker facility.

Lots of fun although a bit rainy and blowy today. If you have very good snow gear then you can have a great day, otherwise you'll max out after 30 minutes on a snowy wet day. We're also a bit cheesed off that we needed to rent ski chains on a day where clearly it wasn't necessary. Also there should be a line for people who have bought tickets and those who have not... Would be more efficient and fairer.

What a beautiful day, Other than the snow seems to be melting, Great fun for the kids. Toboggans seemed to be a big hit, Walking up to the summit was okay earlier on but walking back down was slippery sludge from how fast the snow had melted
