Great off-leash dog beach, with quite a long stretch of sand for dogs to socialise and play. Can get quite busy during peak times, and free parking on the adjacent road can quite full. Beach is generally quite nice, and most dog owners pick up after their dog which is great. Would definitely recommend to take your dog when at the beach.

One of the better beaches in Melbourne, popular with locals but much quieter than others. The sand is generally nice and soft until you get to the dog’s beach. Even on hot busy days you can generally find a nice quiet spot. Parking is handy & convenient as you can park on Beach Rd for free.

It’s good to see lifeguards around. However, there are too many dogs unleashed. Thought dogs wouldn’t be allowed in the water though dog owners won’t listen. I suggest changing the name to Mentone Dog Beach so people know this straight away,

Uncrowded. Plenty of sand. Dog-friendly. Low surf makes for easy swimming and snorkelling. Accessible from Melbourne & Eastern suburbs. Paid parking by the beach or free parking along Beach Road and side streets. Jellyfish sting but only minor irritant. Beautiful sunsets.

Very lovely beach. First time coming here and I will now be a regular here. The water is clean and beautiful. No seaweed or rocks like other beaches near by. There seems to be plenty of free and paid parking options. We were able to park for free very easily. Heaps of clean and new toilet facilities. Also the path along the beach is so beautiful and will be returning for that for sure

Cleanliness: There are enough garbage containers and generally the whole beach is really clean. 5/5* Service/facility: There are public and free toilets, showers (even with hot water) and changing rooms. There is enough everything and you only have to wait a maximum of 2 minutes. 5/5* Eat: There is a small kiosk with ice cream and smaller snacks. A small tapas restaurant opens upstairs from 3 p.m. But there are also various fast food options within a 5-minute walk. Everything at a fair price 5/5* Place: Despite the great weather, we found enough space and it wasn't overcrowded. 5/5* Conclusion: All in all, a really great beach for the whole family! Thanks to its very flat stand, it is also suitable for very small children. 5/5*

It's a wide open sandy beach to go with family and friends. It's also a dog-friendly beach. There's ample free parking nearby.

Stunning place to visit at sunset. The shallows are nice to walk on, the sky gets a gorgeous crimson colour, and it’s so open and wide. The dog loved running around too, highly recommend coming down here to zen out.

I love this beach! It's got a board walk for walking so you don't have to walk on the sand. People use the board walk for exercise. Dog owners bring their dogs there at certain hours to have a run and play. Children and adults enjoy the playing in the sand when the weather permits. Swimming is fun too.

I absolutely love this beach. It's my go-to after work during the summer to enjoy some sun and paddle boarding. Great for kids when the tide is low. On windy days, it's a good spot for kite surfers.

Mentone Beach is awesome, with its super shallow waters-perfect for water activities if you're just starting out. Roadside parking is available, and there are great food options just a quick 2-minute drive away.

Our local and favourite beach. It's a relaxed and beautiful spot on a warm day. Lots of families around and very safe. A possible improvement is for the surf club to serve food and snacks throughout the day, but that would just be a bonus.

It is am amazing place to swim and exercise on. It has small tracks you can take that over looks the ocean. The beach has very soft and warm sand and the water is filled with wild life you can see. Like sting rays, puffer fish, crabs and many more. It is one of the 5 best beaches in Melbourne.

A very dog friendly beach. Free street parking and also a ticketed parking area. Unsure of the cost of this parking. Water had a lot of sea weed and debris in it. Everyone there was having a fabulous time.

Mentone Dog Friendly Beach is one of the best off-leash Dog Park/Beaches in Melbourne. If your pup loves to socialize they'll love it here.

24/7 off leash dog Beach racked every morn by council Bins galore for doggy bags The beach stretched from Mentone to Mordialloc..truly beautiful from sunrise to sunset.. a photographer's delight At one end orange cliffs at the other end a mariner ( Mordy) A brand new state of the art Life Savers Club house with a cafe etc still under construction but it's architecturally stunning! There's a broad-walk all the way from Mentone to Mordy There is a trail along the top of the cliffs ( if you prefer) views are amazing. Picnic tables, benches at frequent intervals Ramps and stairs ..many use the stairs in their training! I love it but then again I love our Bay.

We were by the lifesaver clubhouse in school holidays. No one appeared to be on duty -upstairs was deserted. The was was very shallow and warm with shallow sand bars to about 50m offshore where it became deep and cool. The shallow area was ideal for our 4yr grandchild. About 20m of medium caurse sand. Ideal for sandcastles. There's an off-lead dog beach 200m north and off-leash dogs kept racing through the beach as their owners brought them up for water or just lost control. No ranger presence during the 3hrs we were there.

I love Mentone through to Parkdale beach. Peaceful. Once you are on the beach you no longer feel in suburbia. The parking is good and easy to get to. There is a dog beach near Marina St end so keep in mind. A walking path along the cliff bottom next to the sand is great to get in those crisp walks.

This beach is really perfect to bring your dog to! It was set up where it's near impossible for dogs to run on the road. Though, they can try to run the length of the beach. Which is long by the way!

A beautiful beach with shallow waters up to 500 metres from the shore, depending on the tide. This area can be very crowded in warm, sunny weather. Definitely worth a visit and a swim.

  • 4/5 Ivan S. 2 years ago on Google
Great for a walk along the beach paths which I do regularly. The area is well maintained and is clean apart from the occasionally doggy kransky left by an irresponsible owner; look down. Just be aware that it gets a bit busy with people and doggy traffic on the weekends particularly. Its a great combination of walking exercise and the scent of beach air and occasionally a chilled sea breeze that ensures your bum cheeks are drawn together tightly. Recommend it highly and you just might meet people you know from way back when...

Beautiful spot for all and esp for dogs. The sandy stretch is comfortably sized for dogs to run around off leash on sand or waddle in the water. There is a walkway parallel to the beach if you are not keen on walking on the sand. Public toilets and parking round off to make this a convenient spot for dog families. It is important to note the point where dogs need to be leashed up.

Nice off-leash beach for dogs. Pretty view. My dog would give it 5 stars. She had fun. The day we went, in winter, it was pleasant with enough dogs and not too many, as to be overwhelming.

I like Mentone beach so much it inspired me to write poetry about it. In the section between the jetty and the rock the water is surprisingly clear, if a fraction chilly. The strip of sand is not as wide as other parts. It is clean. On this occasion there was plenty of space to park your towel as significant numbers preferred to walk their Fidos or jog/walk on the promenade. Activity here may ramp up substantially once the new Mentone Life Saving club fires up in February (?)

The dog friendly beach definitly one of best that I ever saw. We went there on a hot day with 38 degrees with a paddle board. The water is shallow and it was great for children to try new water sports. There were lots fun. And in the mean time, our dog loved the beach as he can enjoy time with other dogs. He love water and it was an ideal place for him in summer.

I was born & bred on this beach... From Mentone to Mordialloc is my life long stomping grounds! I live across the road and spend a huge portion of my time on the sand, in the wayer and along the walking paths. Sometimes it's nice, but often feels dirty and overrun with seaweed and rubbish that washes ashore. Local council should clean it every day with a tractor like they do in NSW. But I guess Victorians don't seem to care about having clean beaches... or clean anything really!! Great place to take your dog.

A nice beach to enjoy an afternoon. It can get quite windy which makes it a bit cold, even in the hot weather. But it's a dog beach so you can take your furry friends as well- I always enjoy dog watching!

Mentone beach is a nice and clean beach to swim at. Was my local beach for a few years as I lived up the road. It's also a great local spot to do sunset photography. The old beach groyne is a good subject to shoot. Although there isn't much left of the old rustic timbers these days due to getting battered by some wild weather over the past few years.

Mentone Beach is a fantastic place to let your doggo’s have some off leash time on the sand. The Bay itself is beautiful, however the litter along the sand, dried seaweed and water is very difficult to see. Clearly the environment there is not healthy for marine life as there is a lot of plastic in the water, resulting with myself spending more time picking up rubbish than swimming. There is bins on the beach which is good to see, however there seemed to be more rubbish on the sand and water, then the bins itself.
