I recently visited Kings Domain Park in Melbourne, and was thoroughly impressed. The park was well-maintained and had an abundance of lush, green vegetation. I was especially taken with the wide range of plant life and trees, which created a peaceful atmosphere. Additionally, the park had plenty of benches and tables, making it an ideal spot for a picnic lunch. There were also plenty of activities, such as walking and jogging trails, a playground, and a lake with a bridge, which made for a pleasant afternoon. The park is conveniently located in the city and is easily accessible, making it a great spot for a casual stroll or a longer outing. Overall, I had a wonderful experience at Kings Domain Park and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful, beautiful place to spend some time.

A focused area of the botanical gardens. Ancestors have been respectfully interned here. And old Iron Bark tree here came from Dja Dja Wurrung country long ago.

Just fabulous to get out & about in Melbourne again & Kings Domain has easy access via public transport - trams, trains etc. I attended a recent Concert at Sidney Myer Music Bowl - just fantastic.

One of the best memorials In Australia. Truly something beautiful to view. The PSO shrine guards are awesome if you find them you can ask virtually anything about the shrine and they seem to know the answer. Really awesome level of customer service and generally beautiful people. Can’t wait to take my kids as they grow up.

An great spot for fireworks! We were roughly 100m from the spot they were lighting them off. You are also surrounded by the fireworks around the city so you can see all locations!

Kings Domain among the garden areas on St. Kilda Road that are all beautiful and all named for the British monarchy, Queen Victoria Gardens, Alexandra Gardens and Kings Domain. A reflection of the times they were created hopefully now not all would be.

Great park and views. Only lost a star because it was very difficult to reach the gazebo as there was no path to the entrance.

Gardens are fantastic, BUT beware of the nasty nasty City of Melbourne issuing tickets for needing a parking permit on Sunday! Call me old fashioned but Sunday, really? Checked machine on arrival which announced no fee so assumed it was OK. Over half the cars were issued tickets, probably all as ours was 3 hours old. Ruined my day.

What's not to love? A wonderful park, clean and green. Acres of space. Be sure to check out Latrobe's cottage, nestled near the trees 🌳

I will always give 5 stars whenever there is an oasis in the concrete jungle. A pleasant way to spend some time in nature on a warm day under the shade of the trees. Nearby cafes for a spot of lunch beforehand. Share the view with the birds in the trees or ants on the ground. Happy days.

King's Domain Gardens house many of the items I photographed below. Botanical Gardens [great place to learn about our flora and fauna], Yarra River [lifeline to the city and sporting arenas], Sidney Myer Music Bowl [opera in the park and other concerts] and the Shrine of Remembrance [plenty to see for war/history buffs]. The Tan and numerous other walking paths intertwine throughout the Domain. People come from far and wide to be here [though currently, only if in a 5km radius - to be revised mid-September]. You will find war memorials, statues of past kings and war heroes such as Sir Weary Dunlop and King George V, American Woodland and Pioneer Women's Memorial gardens, large bells, temples/pavilions, impressive gates/arches, dedication to our Aboriginal Heritage, plus grottos [Fern Gully] and Walker Fountain. I usually visit this area at least once a week [less during lockdown] as it makes for an exciting and informative 1-2 hour walk.

Clean big park with a few statues from 50's and earlier and a nice maintained walkway. Birds actually hop on the ground here even with people nearby which was very interesting.

Kings Domain, a verdant sanctuary in the heart of Melbourne, offers a harmonious blend of botanical beauty and cultural richness. Nestled alongside the Royal Botanic Gardens, this expansive park is a haven for both nature enthusiasts and those seeking a tranquil escape from city life. The meticulously landscaped grounds of Kings Domain showcase a diverse collection of native and exotic flora. Majestic trees provide shade for leisurely strolls along well-maintained pathways, while open lawns invite visitors to relax and absorb the serenity. The Shrine of Remembrance, an iconic war memorial situated within the park, adds a poignant historical touch, making Kings Domain a place of both natural and cultural significance. Panoramic views of the Melbourne skyline and the Yarra River enhance the park's allure, creating a scenic backdrop for picnics and gatherings. The Sidney Myer Music Bowl, nestled within Kings Domain, transforms the space into a dynamic cultural venue, hosting concerts and events that enrich the city's cultural tapestry. Kings Domain, with its botanical splendor and cultural resonance, stands as a testament to Melbourne's commitment to preserving green spaces and fostering a connection between nature, history, and contemporary life. It's a cherished destination where the past meets the present in a tapestry of tranquility and cultural richness.

I found it hard to tell the different areas, where King's Domain started and ended I'm not sure but the entire place was a wonderful walk. Peaceful and beautiful. The little memorials they had were nice and I spent a bit of time checking them all out.

I slept in the kings domain in the early 90s. I had my swag under a rock overhang facing the opera house and bridge. I was cuddled up with a gorgeous woman. We made love and then gazed at the stars. It was a beautiful moment.

Awe-inspiring and magnificent, it gives you some idea of the sacrifice millions made in the conflict of the two world wars. It also gives you some sense of the depth of the terrible loss and sadness of the families who had to live with the tragedy. But there is also here a great sense of national pride for those who fought bravely but didn't return home.

Nice scenery at the Kings Domain. This place is just a short walk from the Royal Botanic Garden after the observatory. You would somehow got the European feeling at this place. Overlooking the Melbourne city skyscrapers view from the domain feels great. At the evening, there will be a flag descending ceremony to respect those sacrificed for the country. It was a nice walk at this place at evening.
