A beautiful trail which allows dogs both on and off leash depending on the section of the walk. The river can be fast flowing in places, so caution with dogs swimming, however there are a few sections which are more shallow and great for swimming with your dogs. Plenty of areas to stop on the trail for picnics, and BBQ facilities and toilets are available at certain places.

Very scenic walking track with dog off leash sections, river banks to stop by and grassed areas with BBQ facilities along the way. Ideal for swimming in warmer weather. Would highly recommend!

A wonderful Sunday walk along the river filled with wildlife can do 5km trail - hail rain or shine it’s great. Pack lunch and sit and enjoy the many stunning views. Plenty of free parking. can’t recommend local places to go for lunch - traffic is a nightmare at kangaroo flat you’ll be stuck in traffic for a long time and there is only one pub.

Beautiful walking trail for the whole family, by the side of a river. You can walk and walk enjoying the scenic beauty around. You have lots of benches for seating, there are gym equipment in a corner, food outlets and there are play areas for the kids as well. As you walk, you are sure to come across a good number of dogs being walked on the trail, some on leash and some without. Enjoy the place!

It’s a lovely picturesque walk along the track by the river. With plenty of seats and benches scattered along the track, where you can sit and enjoy the peaceful outlook. However it is a popular spot - particularly for people walking their dogs (often off leash) - but there is good car parking availability at various points. One of the nearby highlights for families with young kids is the awesome playground. Another feature of the location is “The Bakery” which is positioned close to the river - and a popular spot for pastries, cakes and coffee. We enjoyed a leisurely morning walking along the river track, later having a pastry from the Bakery and browsing in some of the local shops (including a book shop and antique shop). Overall, a very pleasant place for a relaxing half day visit.

A cool lovely walk along the river. We reach the riverside market which will only open once a month. Enjoyed the lovely market which had many things. Bought fresh fruits and a Hoya plant. Will recomment this place to all. Need to check before coming down.

Have been walking the river with my dog pretty regularly since moving to the area. No matter which area we go, it's always a beautiful, scenic and calming walk. The paths are clear and well maintained, however they are dirt. We always pass lots of friendly people and pets, haven't had a bad encounter with anyone! Always friendly smiles and kind greetings. Great way to start the day in peaceful nature and forget the stress of one's day-to-day.

When for a night walk with three friends, we had such a bizarre wonderful wacky and zany time. Many things we shared. Many experiences and memories were created such a wonderful fantastic experience. My brain will never let go of this memory, one friend, who will remain a named started free styling. It was so epic an awesome literally had to contain my laughter and excitement as he was flowing and spitting bars everywhere another friend who will remain on them to play. Creepy music was so Wakin terrifying. I had to contain my fear so funny would recommend

Such a good and relaxing place with great views of the Yarra River, great for picnics as well as Kayaking. Another plus point is the reserve also has exercise machines installed. Cosy cafes and shops also close by to grab a bite on the go!

It's a great walk, especially when the water is clean. A few things let it down, but that's the people not the place. Take your poo bags and your coffee cups home. The river meanders up to Warrandyte and then around Pound Bend. It's a lovely walk, usually it's pretty quiet. Warrandyte is underrated. People tend to flock to beaches on a good day, so if the weather is good, head to a park or the hills. Lots of nature. Not seen any koalas around the bend yet, but you guaranteed to see at least a few things on a walk. I can't get enough if this place and if I'm not going far, then a coffee at Arthur's Creek and a walk around the bend is always on the cards. Warrandyte has a fair bit of history, with interesting geological features and bushland. The town is nice, but the star of the show is the beautiful river and its surroundings. People are always curious about snakes. I've walked a few hundred km around Warrandyte and I've not seen any yet. There's some massive kangaroos, however.

Very nice place to visit. There is a walking track side to the river to enjoy the greenery and nature. A large kids play area and picnic spots to enjoy with family and friends. My both the kids love this place and we usually visit in every 2-3 months. There are BBQ places and you can find few cafes near by

We live locally and really enjoy the river, except for dogs off leash. If the owners were even slightly concerned about their dogs obstructing your path or partaking of your lunch it might be OK. The river is for ducks and natural wildlife, can't wait for dogs to be mandated back on leash (or declare a dog park area and ban them completely elsewhere).

Warrandyte market held here on 1st Saturday of the month. Beautiful location, well laid out market. Not much parking though, be prepared for a short stroll. Also packs up a 1pm so get in early to get the best picks. Delicious Indian food, and cannoli. Flower stalls and good artesian produce. Will definitely be back.

Love this spot! Water level varies from low enough for my dog to be comfortable in to high enough for me to swim but still touch the bottom. Lovely scenery while swimming. Busy when the weather is warm & sunny. Lots of dogs.

A beautiful part of the Yarra River just on the outskirts of Metro Melbourne. A popular pace on the warmer days with lots of places to swim and take the does for a dip. A nice walking/cycling trail runs along the south side of the river, which makes access nice and easy. Parking along the river can be hard to come by on the busier afternoons an weekends.

Nice and easy walk. Bit crowded now and then, also watch your steps. Rubbish bins are provided, still dog owners ignore them. These guys have probably stick in the tummy and can't bend.

Such a nice walk, very pretty. But it is always extremely busy. Even though you should have your dogs on lead, people don't follow it. Dogs constantly come up to my dog when we try for her not to react to every dog when they walk past(not aggressive approach, excited one). It's an on lead area but unfortunately it has stopped us going there due to people who have no control over their dogs.

Awesome little town with beautiful river walks. Lots of food eateries and little trinket shops. Two opshops and a gingerbread man store. Dog friendly on the river and at the shops. Great place for a picnic, or a stop at one of the bbq facilities. Best day 🥰👍

Great little walk which is appropriate for dogs. Plenty of spots to stop and view the Yarra and dogs to take a dip in. Lots of shade covering along the reserve walk and a few bakeries and shops to stop at.

  • 3/5 Henry S. 3 years ago on Google
Nice and relax walk along the rushing Yarra River. A few shops near by and can be rather quiet. However it is rather busy and packed with people during the pandemic. Would avoid visiting for a period as although most people are wearing masks a lot are not social distancing.

Beautiful. Can get a bit packed on the weekends. The main bakery on the river side to get a coffee can be a bit slow but good to support the local businesses. Please buy the proper duck food from them, technically bread is not good for the ducks!

A great walk by the river. Very suitable for picnic, walking dogs, or for kids to play by the stream. Alot of cafes nearby where you can grab some food/drinks after a walk or take a walk after a meal at the cafes.

Great spot, little hard to get down to the water with the steep dirt steps but would be fine for most people. Our dog loved this spot!

Best hidden secret in Melbourne. Pound bend is a nice relaxing 4km round trip on floating devices, but the downstream end location is also a safe spot for kids to swim.

Amazing place. Usually extremely busy. Dog friendly for them to swim (which is very important for me) though a greater number of people are uncomfortable with the dogs being here. There are plenty of "no dogs" parks very close to here. This is a rare treasure for well behaved dogs to exercise and swim off lead.

  • 5/5 Meegan H. 3 years ago on Google
Tranquil, clean picnic spots. Great for walks & biking with children. Some off lead dog areas. Lots of accessible parking.

After the hot weather, it was nice to take a walk while it was cool. Such a lovely outlook as you meander along the path. There is an off lead area for dogs & when its hot both dogs & people have a swim. Fantastic market 1st sat of the month with great variety. Very relaxing walk.

Went for a short stop with one of my dogs. Nice spot, very pretty. There should be better rules about dogs being off lead, my timid pup got a bit of a scare a few times by dogs that weren't listening to their owners
