A very nice location for shooting wedding photo portraits and videos. So many nice little pockets of trees, bushes and frames that are very easy to work with. I have only been here when the weather is very nice, so the light is always very easy. If the weather was bad, well, who knows ha ha ha... Also, while I was visiting most recently, there were signs up for the 'Sunset Cinema'. I didn't get to see it, but I think it would be very nice :)

A beautiful, well maintained garden. Can easily find sunny or shady spots with the abundance of benches and grass. Public toilet available on site. Plenty of different nooks and corners to give you a variety of experiences - areas with streaming water, rows of flowers, more public spots to feel part of the community, or semi private nooks with less people to just relax in nature. Free parking available but limited and in high demand.

This place really is a delight. I walk through it daily and it continues to inspire and ground me (as it does many others). What bliss to see people enjoying these sprawling gardens in such deliciously varied ways. Picnics, people reading under giant tree canopies. Duck watching on the pond, photographing the plentiful bulbs now in flower. Peaceful, delightful, restorative.

The Rose garden was a particular highlight for me, although I also quite enjoyed the fountain aswell, my visit here with my partner has been a lovely way to spend our afternoon, I very much recommend it to anyone near by, very calm and secluded.

The Saint Kilda Botanic Garden in Melbourne is a true gem. As soon as you enter, you're greeted by a beautifully landscaped garden with an impressive variety of plants, flowers, and trees. The garden is well-maintained and has plenty of benches to sit and enjoy the scenery. There's also a small pond with ducks and other wildlife, which adds to the peaceful atmosphere. One of the highlights of the garden is the conservatory, which houses a stunning collection of exotic plants. The conservatory is well-designed and maintained, and the plants are labeled, which is helpful for those who are interested in learning more about them. Overall, I highly recommend visiting the Saint Kilda Botanic Garden. It's a great place to take a leisurely stroll, have a picnic, or simply enjoy the beauty of nature.

Grabbed some Domino's Pizza and had lunch at the St. Kilda Botanical Gardens. It's really nice, quite and relaxing. Trees and palms provide for shade, toilets and bins provided. You may bring your 🐕. Great place. Highly recommend!

This historical botanical gardens is beautifully maintained all year round and contains hundreds of mature trees, extensive seasonal flower beds, native Australian plant species, indigenous plants, and a beautiful rose garden with a gazebo.  All this attracts a wide variety of bird and animal life.  Facilities also include a sub-tropical conservatory, glasshouses, an ornamental pond, a playground and lots of green lawn areas where one can enjoy picnics, play, run around with the kids, or just lay down and relax shaded under one of the many trees.  There's also a giant chessboard and chess tables and toilets with disabled access and an Eco Centre.  All round this is a fantastic botanical garden with lots to see and enjoy.  A visit is highly recommended.

There are many aspects of St Kilda Gardens that I appreciate, but there is something remarkably enchanting about visiting this botanical oasis during autumn. The immediate transformation one experiences upon stepping into the park is breathtaking. As the autumn hues set in, the park is lit up with a warm palette of red, orange, and gold that harmoniously complements the clear blue skies of the season. From the rustling of leaves underfoot to the pleasant aroma of the earth, every moment spent here in autumn is a sensory delight. The gardens are impeccably maintained, with each tree, flower bed, and grassy knoll reflecting the attention and care invested by the dedicated gardeners. The orderly paths meandering throughout invite you to explore and immerse yourself in nature's tranquillity, providing a serene retreat from the bustle of city life.I also want to highlight the excellent amenities at St Kilda Gardens. Clean, well-situated benches offer plenty of spots to sit, reflect, and appreciate the surrounding beauty. The café within the gardens provides a variety of refreshments, making it a perfect spot for a cozy outdoor lunch or a warm cup of coffee on a crisp autumn day.

My friend lives around the corner from here….so this place is extra special to me. The houses around here are so nice too….nothing beats the iconic St Kilda, something so special and esoteric about these gardens too - children’s playground a nice touch for the kids. Beautiful and stunning place! Great community feel.

Beautiful place to wander through in summer and winter. It's getting better and better as the staff are creating new areas for the public to enjoy, like the Sensory Garden, Fern Gully and Guilfoyle's Volcano.

Beautiful gardens, wide open spaces, a green house area, water features and all. Fantastic picnic spot tucked away within inner South East Melbourne. Parking around the perimeter of the park is free, but also highly popular. Surrounding suburbs have free street parking but take note of the signs to avoid being fined. Restrooms can be found adjacent to the greenhouse - signage isn't obvious so you might need to investigate.

Lovely gardens even in the cold and wet. Fenced off and a nice size so you don’t get lost. Beautiful sweet smelling rose gardens, gorgeous cherry blossoms and other beautiful flowers. Great for photos. Lots of dogs and picnickers around. Playground is basic but still fun for young kids. Local gem. Will be back in future.

It's a beautiful and tranquil botanical garden in the middle of St Kilda! It's open between sunrise and sunset seven days a week. It's an ideal place to enjoy a picnic or go for a stroll with family and friends! There's a playground for the kids and a small lake too. I definitely recommend visiting this botanical garden if you are around the area!

This is a really nice small public garden, there were lots of people using them, for picnics playing, walking the dog, just enjoying the sunshine and time together, there were plenty of shady spots with seats to ward off the heat, the rose gardens looked beautiful. It is free to just walk thru, stay a while, take the kids to play and just enjoy

Lovely gardens with play area for kids, a beautiful lake, rose garden, and areas for picnics. Located a short walk to Akland St and the beach with parking usually available. Public toilets could be better, but recently, they added an additional toilet block which is welcomed.

"How's the serenity?" We love soaking up the peace and tranquillity at St Kilda Botanical Gardens. Whether it's a 10 minute walk through or a 90 minute stroll and 'sit down picnic' somewhere - a visit here is therapy for the soul.

I have visited this one before the big one {the royal} in Melbourne. The St Kilda one is far more laid back and relaxing due to it being compact and brief. It’s a nice side quest or walk back between home and work. There’s a cute little lake , then tables where you can bring a laptop and work . Or even play chess! I have a lot of good memories in that park. Good vibes.

Beautiful Gardens, pond and surrounds. Plenty of places to relax. The oy downside is the public toilets which need to be cleaned a lot more regularly.

How wonderful to see the colourful flowers during the winter months in the garden!

  • 4/5 Kris 1 year ago on Google
Lots of trees, lots of birds, lots of seating, a small lake, and a tiny glimpse of what may be a Japanese style garden. The rosegarden is nice but sometimes smells of fertiliser. Too many paths around the northern end of the park, but there's no connecting path around the southern end. Give the resident drunks a wide berth, or they might throw their empties at you.

  • 4/5 Ciara W. 2 years ago on Google
The rose garden here is lovely and it’s nice to go for a walk around but I feel like I saw so many big wheely bins and it kind of took away from the nature of the place perhaps if there was a bit more creative way to disguise the bins with artificial plants or paint them or something to make them blend in a bit it would be nicer. Parking was easy to find so that was a plus too!

  • 5/5 Rodney S. 2 years ago on Google
Great to park. Fantastic to visit, great rose gardens which are a highlight. Plenty of room for picnics with shade and room to find your own space. A great large chess board and plenty of tables with game boards to take your own pieces. Toilets available. Large panoramic pond and a hot house. The hot house could do with some care.

We usually visit the Royal Botanical Gardens in the city and have not made the effort to come here in the past. We decided to visit St Kilda Botanical Gardens for a change and we are so glad we did. The gardens are charming. It's unbelievable how many different aspects there are in a rather small space. In some ways it's more enjoyable than the larger gardens as you can easily visit the whole gardens in one visit and see how everything is changing through the seasons if you go regularly like we will now do.

Had to put this review as this place was my escape to nature during my 3 years in st kilda. You will definitely feel close to nature if you visit this place. Very nicely maintained and perfectly crafted to make you make you fall in love with place.

Beautiful. Absolutely love the greenhouse with the ponds inside. The seasonal veggie garden was stunning. Just shame we can pick it for consumption, would be great to feed hungry families or those less fortunate. Seems a waste that they grow it and then get rid of it. The play equipment is very 90s; so not appropriate in summer with the metal slides getting close to boiling point. But, none the less very fun for the kids in the cooler months.

Great place in for a casual walk and even better for a picknick whether it be on the grass or seating. Lots of public seating from benches to tables and public toilets on site. Really enjoyed the greenhouse, it's a little small but none the less packed full of interesting tropical flora. Getting to the gardens is easy via St Kilda road if driving and plenty of free parking around the perimeter. Alternatively tram no.96 terminating at Acland street is one street from the gardens offering many places for food and coffee.
