Hard to beat a sunset dinner at The Cerberus Beach House, especially with a window table. On a warm night with bathers heading home, the atmosphere was fabulous. The service was friendly and efficient. The menu choices had both seafood and meat options. The entrée was delicious and the seafood platter had plenty of food for three with hot and cold choices. The only feedback would be the fish batter was too heavy and thick and the grilled fish was a little dry yet overall, very tasty. A definite visit again place.

A little hidden oasis tucked into the corner of Blackrock beach. Stunning views of the sunset across the bay and amazing food and service to match. Seafood always a speciality but plenty on offer to tempt any taste. Love this place and enjoy the early seatings. Will be back. Thank you team for making a celebration special.

The Kiosk does the best fish & chips in Melbourne! Oil is always fresh, the flake is thick and juicy, the potato cakes are so golden and perfect and the chips were mind blowing. My sister also really loved her veggie burger. Great staff in a stunning location, right at the waters edge. We love eating here and can't wait to come back again

Was gutted when we arrived to late for lunch service. But the takeout calamari was wonderful. Earing it next to the sea. Was very good.

Heard very good things about the Fish & Chips here and had to go try it out. Happy to report that the it's very good (Blue Grenadier fish) and is offered as either battered or grilled. The chips were pretty average though as they were soft and not crispy. I loved the fact that they gave a side of salad that complemented all the fried food. The ambience is pretty good, the staff are friendly and the view from the balcony is superb.

Great value fish and chips with generous servings. We purchased 2x packs which contained a piece of fish, 2 potato cakes (potato or sweet potato) and 1 dim sim and shared between 4. If extra hungry, you can add another piece of fish to top it up but it was quite filling. Everything was cooked to crunchy and seasoned well. It was very crowded near the kiosk area, so we walked up to the cliffs where there are 2 picnic tables.

The latte was good. We ordered chips and fried pineapple too, both are crispy and taste very satisfactory.

We had a birthday party and the Cerberus Beach House is ticking all the boxes. Starting from the initial phone booking, the staff is super nice, the food is beautifully presented and tastes awesome, and the place is cozy and not too loud inside, which allowed us to have conversations without the need of raising our voices. The last but not least - the views of the shore are simply magical! We will certainly be back for another occasion. Well done the Cerberus Beach House Team and keep it up.

We stopped here for a cycling coffee. Drive down the access ramp and there are some paid parking spots close by. Easy access to the beach. Fish chips burgers coffees available.

Anyone who follows my reviews will know I don't give 5s often. I visited here for the first time with my wife for a special occasion and the experience we had was special. The staff were friendly and efficient, the food was excellent (went for the seafood platter and a souffle that rose beautifully) and our view of the bay was awesome. Some things to note Sunday 6pm is a popular time. Best to book and book early for the best seats. It is not a huge space. This is not a 'budget' dining experience. The restaurant is on the upper level and is accessed by a set of steep stairs.

Review for the kiosk downstairs. We ordered 2 kids calamari packs expecting some overpriced passable small bites, but we were surprised with 2 humongous serving sizes of calamari and chips! The calamari were huge and tasty with a lovely batter that melts right in your mouth. The chips unfortunately tasted stale and barely salted. The serving size and the calamari were a pleasant surprise.

Great fish and chips. Got the half moon pack for around 17 dollars, and definitely bang for buck. Huge portions, all freshly fried, and great for a snack across 3 people after a day out on the beach Slightly more oil than I’d like - but what can you expect for fish and chips Barramundi still had an incredible fishy taste to it - and tasted fresh unlike a lot of other fish and chip places

I had a lovely brunch with my fiancé after long lockdown. aren’t we all glad to dine in! The best linguine pasta I’ve had in the area, their barramundi was also exceptional. Their seafood is to die for. I’d say the menu can be on the pricey range, but so so worth it. Will be coming back for sure. Make sure to book in to get the best view, don’t just rock up!

Would’ve been 5/5. Grilled gummy was divine. Potato cakes though home made and had the potential to be incredible as batter was superb we’re not cooked through so sadly only the very edges eaten. Would’ve taken back but with so many eager beavers waiting for their meals decided not to. Appreciate they’re not the big standard ones but probably need to be par boiled first.

One of the best fish and chips I’ve tried. It is so busy during weekend and there’s a long line. There are few tables outside you can have your food. We read the opening hours would be after 17:30 but it was for the restaurant and the delivery option is available during the day.

Couldn't wish for a more stunning location to celebrate my husband's birthday! Everything about our experience was faultless. Staff were warm, welcoming and the optimal level of attentive. The restaurant has a lovely ambience and unforgetable view. All dishes were exceptional, but we particuarly loved the scallops, market fish and basque cheesecake. A true gem just outside the city that's not to be missed!

A lovely location for a Valentine's Day meal. We booked our table by the window when we were still in the UK and how we were rewarded!! From start to finish we were royally treated and our meals were superb. Thank you in particular to the charming Margot who looked after us and made what was a lovely experience, really memorable. We shall certainly be back one day. ❤️ 😍

Had the seafood platter for 2, which was ample food for 3 hungry women, along with a dozen oysters. The chipotle sauce with the prawns was an interesting experience but not unpleasant. We had a good time.

Came out for a Sunday drive to Half Moon Bay for the most amazing clear waters. We meandered upon Cerebus and although we didn’t have a reservation on such a busy Sunday, FOH accommodated us in quick time. You would think it would take a while to get our drinks and food but nope! Our orders came in prompt fashion! I had the summer greens salad and my partner had the radicchio walnut salad. Highly recommend!

Celebrated my husbands birthday here last night. The staff were so friendly welcoming and attentive from the minute we walked in. The food was delicious. We had a great window table to watch the beautiful sunset over the water. Highly recommend, never disappoints. Will be back soon, thanks for a fun delicious night

This review is for the takeaway part of the business down stairs. We have stopped at the beach here for a beer and a snack a number of times in the past and it has been a solid 3 star performer. Today however we were extremely disappointed with the quality of the food. Overcooked in dirty oil and borderline inedible. They were not what you would call busy, and by looking at the other diners it wasn't just our order that was cooked to this standard. Easily the worse fish we've had in Melbourne in a very long time.

The servers were extremely lovely here. They definitely had a great selection of dishes on the menu too. For an entree I ordered the steak tartare. The tarp chips were lovely and the fish was relatively good. The depth of the colour was a bit off putting though as usually it’s a lighter, pink tone. Aside from that (which honestly would likely be a preference thing anyway) the rest of the food was brilliant. The duck was delicious, not at all dry which was amazing! The flavour pairings were impeccable. The flourless chocolate cake was lovely, a bit more on the rich and more of a bitter taste. Again this is likely more of a flavour preference than a poor job on the restaurants part! Parking is weary enough with free and ticketed options available. The view is absolutely stunning! And the gluten free options were not as limited as many other places. Whilst the location is of course welcoming to children, the menu does not offer foods that are likely to be enjoyed by children. Overall it was a great place to go for a nice dinner!

Ordered some takeaway chips and potato cakes from The Cerberus Beach House down at Half Moon Bay for dinner last night. I was very pleased with the food (could've had a bit more chicken or regular salt on the chips), the place was bustling, but the workers managed to serve our food in a timely manner. Thanks to the guys and girls working at The Cerberus! And thanks for the extra potato cake. Much appreciated :)

You should order the grilled octopus when you visit. Very tender and tasty, I especially liked the charred tips. Also had a taste of their fish and chips. Both dishes make it worth the drive out here. Plus gives you a nice view of the water. Great restaurant to visit while on holiday.

Location and service great. BUT menu on net is totally misleading. In real life they only had two seafood dishes. One seafood paella and one whole trout. If you are a seafood lover I would not recommend this restaurant. Also, the prices for both the food and wine were more than advertised on the net and more than you would expect to pay for the quality of product served to the customer. The paella was nice but I would not go back to the restaurant just to eat paella, paella and more paella on each occasion. If they stuck to the menu which they have advertised on the net it would be a great place to go to even though it is a bit exxy.

Location great. Service, ok. Food, not so. Ham & cheese toasted, cold, soggy like microwaved, absolutely zero taste or flavour and not even cut. Baguette- warm on one end, not on the other. Totally cold. Chips, small little chips pieces. The bottled water was good.

I was feeling a bit down having not completed my diving course out at the bay that morning (late February 2021) and was walking up to the amenities... spotted the kiosk and thought I'd grab a coffee. Decided after seeing menu to try the fresh 'catch of the day'. Was an excellent decision - cheered me right up. Staff were lovely, which also helped revive my mood. Fish was Blue Grenidier and it was cooked perfectly, crispy on outside, inside was succulent, and melted in my mouth. Thanks team for turning an otherwise bummer of a day into a happy experience.

You can't beat the location! Amazing views and perfect during summer with the windows open and sea breeze blowing in. Food was good and portions were a decent size. Definitely on the pricier side. Cocktails were OK but would have benefitted from a skilled bartender. Overall a good place for a bite to eat or if you want to impress you SO on date night.

  • 5/5 Cassandra M. 3 years ago on Google
Wow, what a find! Sure it's pricey, but the food and ambience is well worth it for a special treat. You have to venture up a flight of stairs to get to the restaurant, but that means you get a great view of the ocean. This place is right on the water's edge, and if you go at night they have lots of pretty fairy lights on the ceiling that when you look out across the water it makes it looks like lots of stars in the night's sky.

Small takeaway / restaurant with some amazing views and perfect in the summer. Food was pretty decent, albeit a little pricey. Cocktails are available, with both indoor and outdoor seating. The venue is in a great location and is perfect for watching the sunset with food and drinks in the evening. The restaurant above is also really great - the food is delicious, the staff are really friendly and attentive, and there's some really pleasant views across the bay if you reserve a window seat. Car park can get very busy, and you need a parking ticket.

The kiosk is absolutely great for lunch. It's a great places to get fish and chips which are either to sit at the beach, or across the road from the water. Casual, walk up, takeaway with seating, for laid back coffe or eats. I loved friendly service with smile, great grilled fish and chips and nice coffee. On lovely sunny day you feel you are on holiday. I love it!

Ideally located overlooking Port Phillip Bay this was a great place to meet with friends to enjoy lunch. Good selection of mainly seafood but they were able to meet our vegetarian requirements. The apple and cinnamon souffle was a particularly standout.

The spot is fantastic, but the fish and chip needs a bit of love. I never write reviews about cafes but the fish and chips here were very greasy, potatoes cakes were still hard. Not cooked well at all. Not value for your money. I feel pretty ripped off.

  • 2/5 Michael C. 3 years ago on Google
Absolutely terrible, everything was brown to dark brown on the outside and half cooked to cooked on the inside. Fresh flake doesn’t come out mushy, calamari rings were either good or chewy as hell, potato cakes need another minute but then they will be black, chips were great 👍

  • 5/5 Harrison B. 3 years ago on Google
The beautiful ocean views by the bay was accompanied by beautiful and genuine staff which was amplified by a lovely catch of the day fish and a barramundi burger cooked to absolute perfection. My boyfriend thought the experience couldn’t get any better until we got a smooth almond vanilla 3/4 full latte made by the beautiful “Bridie”. Would highly recommend this family owned kiosk 💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽

Sunday evening booking. We went in with high hopes, the place looked great, and the views and weather were wonderful. And that's when it all went downhill. Only 18 tables upstairs, 4 staff to cover it, but it was 30 minutes before we could order. I ordered a cocktail that took 20 minutes to find me. My watery and tasteless prawn and chorizo linguine ($38) had $6 worth of food in it: 3 overcooked and tough prawns, 5 or 6 thin slices of chorizo, and a dollop of creme fraiche that wasn't big enough for the size of the bowl. Overpriced, overhyped, and there was no love in our meals at all. And the flimsy see-through curtain that "split" the room, didn't hide the fact that they had my friend seated with her back touching the chair of a table of people behind her...clearly breaching covid 1.5 meter guidelines. Disappointed and won't be returning.

Ok....saw your reply.....i think its been like this 3 weeks!! Just tell us though....this is what one of your staff told me.....we LOVE your restaurant and F&C's which is why i write...... No more phone orders for fish and chips at the kiosk!!! Asked the girl and she said they put a new phone system in and they can't work out how to answer it ...go figure....so no more phone orders!!! What a pity! We have enjoyed it for years!!

The restaurant and cafe are both excellent! Had the most delicious salmon burger at the cafe today & we have eaten at the restaurant in the past (pre-covid) & were very impressed. I like that they specifically sell local Vic gummy shark as an option rather than “flake”, so hope the seafood options are more sustainable than other establishments that sell fish and chips.

Not coeliac safe. My coeliac wife had chips at the Kiosk after being reassured that there is a separate gluten free fryer, but at the bottom of her chip serve found large crumbs of batter that looked just like the batter on the non-gluten-free potato cakes and fried fish our friend had ordered. My wife subsequently became unwell. Thank you to the lady who answered her phone call later, who was very helpful and apologetically explained that whilst there was indeed a separate fryer, the same baskets are often used between the fryers. It's disappointing she wasn't told that initially.

A regular for us. Was warm sunny weather and no gale-force winds which was nice for a change! Friendly and efficient service. Food was pretty good. Steak tartare to start which was excellent as always followed by seafood platter. A generous serving on the platter though it had less of the lighter cold/fresh options than previous which was a shame. The hot was pretty good though the softshell crab had a lot of batter which my friend, who is a softshell crab addict, found too heavy and stopped at one piece as did I. The rest being the barra, squid and mussels were pretty good. Will definitely be back as the location is great, staff excellent and food generally the same. This was the 2nd platter that hasn't been quite to the standard they used to be so will look at different options on the menu for a while as there are some excellent options on there too!

Fairly disappointed. To spend $120 at a restaurant for two people (food, one drink) I would expect the food to be very good. I ate an expensive salad, this tasted bland. I also ordered chips with rosemary salt, which didn't come with any salt at all. It simply tasted like the chef had his trainee doing the work. It was ram packed and stinking hot. The chairs are quite uncomfortable. They probably should have bought cushions and some ceiling fans during the renovation.
