Beautiful park alongside with Yarra river at Banksia Park Buller. In late September to middle of October, that is the best time to enjoying the blooming Sakura.( also call cherry trees) In February 1980 the Japanese Government donated 100 flowering cherry trees to the people of Victoria to mark the visit of the Japanese Prime Minister Mr Masayoshi Ohira. When you planning to visit the park, make sure to choose a beautiful sunny day for your photos if you wish for keep those picturesquely in your memory.

Took my parrot to the Cherry Grove at Banksia Park today (18 Sep 2022). Both of us really enjoyed the Cherry Blossoms which has started to bloom (though not at full bloom yet). The parrot liked it so much (first Cherry Blossoms for her 😊-she is only 1.5 years old) that the rain didn’t even bother her at all. We will surely be back in a week or two to see the Cherry Blossoms at full bloom. Plenty of parking spots nearby.

Should be renamed Botanical Weed gardens. Long grass, together with stands of thistles, capeweed, onion grass, docks and other noxious weeds. Add to this paths along the southern boundary are closed for the NE link works. The only recent improvements have been the installation of new picnic tables and a replacement playground, if you dare risk the snakes in the long grass

This is definitely a gem. Such a perfect and beautiful Cherry Blossom (Sakura) flowers and trees in this park. There are heaps of them. There are few tree haven't have flower bloom yet. Now is perfect time to go to picnic and take photos to these tree and flowers. Never thought there are so many different types of sakura and so much different colors and combination too. Big call out to the volunteers who maintain these tree over years. And the most important, this park is free to enter. Plenty of parking nearby. And the actual location near dog park. Best to park at the dog park parking. Went there in Oct. There flower bloom period is between September to October. But rain can impact these flower sightly. There are also cafe at the park entrance too. Will definitely come back next year for the season to picnic.

Parks Victoria should be ashamed of the state of this park. Badly maintained, lacking connecting food paths, paths covered in dried up mud. It could easily be so much better. The dog park, which is very spacious, is the only reason to go here.

It's a big park but it is not very well maintained the moment - not many cherry trees in bloom - not too pleasant for a picnic as the grass is tall.

Beautiful park located in a large bend of the Yarra River and adjacent to the Heide Gallery with its own extensive gardens and open spaces. There are gates within Banksia Park to access Heide as well as a seperate carpark right at the Gallery accessed from within Banksia Park. The park has children's playgrounds, Public Toilets, lots of benches with seating, shelters and wood fired BBQs sprinkled throughout the park. The Northern part of the park has a very large fenced of area for leash off dogs with obstacles, water and lots of free space for dogs to gambol. Very popular on weekends especially. There is a really nice shaded bitumen walkway that goes around the perimeter of the park with lots of views of the Yarra and mostly well shaded over its length. The whole park with the dozen or so seperate car parking areas is extremely busy on pleasant weekend days and finding a vacant spot can be difficult.

Such a nice park. Currently paths mostly blocked by flooded Yarra River. But was good to see the off leash dog area still getting well used. Toilets available. BBQ dotted around the park (though all under use so might have to get in early if you want to be able to use one)

Nice park, but the road and parking are horrible on weekends. If you drive in on a busy day expect to get stuck inside. I drove in today at 11:02 and it took just over 50 minutes to drive the 700 metres to the end and back out, without finding a car park. Make the exit a left turn only on weekends so that cars aren't getting stuck behind people trying to turn right at the busy intersection.

Good grassy park with plenty of shade and play equipment. Unusually for a suburban Park it even has fire pits. There are toilets and of course at the top of the hill Heide Museum of Modern Art. Lots of parking. There's a fairly regular makers market.

I’ve been in Banksia park a couple of times, this time for the Handcraft Market, which as a first timer here it was really amazing

Great off lead dog park. Plenty of space to run around for the dogs, with water fountains and secure fencing. Parking a bit limited at the off lead dog area but there's plenty of parking in other areas of the park.

It's a dog park which doesn't have a bin for dog poo, so it's all left in a pile beside the gate. Lovely little copse of trees in the middle with some paths around, good space, even a couple of good puddles. One of the taps doesn't work, but the other one is fine and has a dog water bowl at the bottom.

Great place, very big with lots of picnic areas and tables. Has a separate area for dogs and an enclosed area to let them off leash. Plenty of parking and lots of little through forest tracks to walk. Even though mains roads are close it is still quiet and lots of walking tracks with toilet facilities. Would recommend.

Lovely, tranquil park on the banks of the Yarra River. Integrated with the grounds of the Heide Museum. You can picnic - there are scattered benches, walk the dog and wander around. Lots of parking and easy access.

Very pretty park, was visiting the Heide restaurant, unfortunately the pleasure of the park was ruined by the rude waiters at the restaurant. 5 stars for the park. None for the rude waiter.

  • 3/5 David H. 4 years ago on Google
It is a nice park, and as a dog owner it's amazing that they have a fenced dog area but they don't have bins for rubbish and dog dropping bags. So people are forced to hang up their own rubbish bags at the gate anyway.

  • 5/5 Ty J. 4 years ago on Google
Awesome park. Just found the off lead dog park which is fully fenced. This must be one of the largest we have found of its kind. The off lead area has plenty of varied landscape including dense bush for pups to explore, all while being safely enclosed. Usually find larger size dogs here.

Good walking tracks close to the Yarra river with a dog run. The Heide museum of modern art is nearby. Remnant of some amazing old gum trees but overhead high tension power lines are a downer

On the banks of the Yarra. Good paths, access to Heide Gallery gardens and sculpture park, plenty of space for picnics and BBQs, separate fully fenced large dog running area. Easy for strolling or running or cycling with children.

Artsy and fun. It's a popular picnic venue, with enough hidden-away spots so you never need to feel crowded. Suggestion :Park right at the end of the drive and walk through the park for a different approach to the Heide Museum of Modern Art.

This is our favourite place to visit for family picnics especially at the moment with restrictions making it difficult to visit resturants and cafes. A lovely riverside park alongside the river and abuts the famous Heide gallery with equally lovely gardens. Easy walks, good parking and fenced dog area. Very popular at weekends. Cherry trees with abundant blossom in October is enough reason to join the throngs of picnickers and Japanese folk yearning for home

Beautiful spot from a walk, visit the nearby Heide museum of modern art gardens for a look at some interesting art pieces. Some paths can get flooded out but this is well worth a visit...particularly in spring when flowers are blooming.

Nice, big and quiet park beside a busy road. Especially loved the Japanese Cherry Grove where you could see beautiful Japanese Cherry Blossoms during Spring. Learned that the cherry blossoms trees were donated by the Japanese government and are currently maintained by the volunteers. Saw a few Japanese volunteers working tirelessly maintaining the trees while I was there over the weekend. Saw a few types of trees. Will be great if there are signage indicating the various types. Most of the cherry blossoms trees are already budding. Excited to make a trip back again in Spring to view the beautiful Cherry Blossoms.

A very beautiful Park and pretty cherry bloom in the right time. The reason i give only three stars is simply the public toilet has not been fixed from the time i came in late September and until last weekend.
