Very beautiful place for a nice jog. It is an exotic park with various plants and it being next to the river. Its view perfectly captures a mesmerizing piece of Melbourne. Nice patches of grass for picnic as well! There is a beautiful road next to the park overgrown with trees.

A place to get away from the hustle & bustle of the Melbourne CBD. Situated just across the river on the picturesque Princes Bridge this park is a haven of peace. You can walk, cycle, run or chill out by the river. There are some beautiful mature trees & well kept gardens where it's hard to believe you are in the centre of a large city.

At Alexandra Gardens for Moomba festival. Hadn't been to Moomba for years and years but wandered around for an hour, checking out rides, food offerings and side-show Alley games. Had coffee (decaf soy latte) and 2 hot jam donuts from Dough Truck, tried from 2 different sellers, lucky tickets (both unlucky) and again tried luck on laughing clowns. They have beaten me since childhood, today was no different. There were so many rides for kids, teenagers and kidults and heaps of different food offerings (tacos, Greek, crepes, fish and chips, dumplings, ice creams etc) and many games of skill (shoot basketball, knock down milk bottles, pick up floating ducks etc) and games of chance (lucky tickets). Was packed but not too overwhelming. Take kids and lots of cash. Great location.

Beautiful garden in the centre of the city. Just go there for a walk.. sit peaceful n enjoy nature. If you want to read a book n sleep for some time this is ideal.. not much crowded.. don’t throw any waste as it very well maintained. No need to carry water as the the public drinking water facility here is so clean n i drank litres of water here. Didn’t do any harm.. visit when you are free to spend few hrs..

Its the perfect environment that mixes all the right kind of vibes in a cozy surrounding. Garden runs along with the beautiful Yarra river with some splendid restaurants. And of course the festivities accompany the gardens is quite quit amazing

Huge fan of these beautiful gardens… I still remember my primary school trips here over 30 years ago. Now I’m lucky enough to live in the CBD and this is my favourite spot to walk every day. It is a constant delight, season to season, with some lovely sculptures and contemplation spots by the different ornamental lakes. Plus a huge rose garden!

Alexandra Gardens is a beautiful & vast space, perfect for family gatherings or meetups with friends. You’ll find plenty of space for picnics, a game of footy or just a leisurely stroll around the greens. With a gorgeous view of the city on one side and a biking and walking nature trail on the other, you’ll definitely find the space your looking for to relax and enjoy a beautiful day in the city.

Possibly has the best views of any park in Melbourne. You have the Yarra river and the skyline of the city, while on the other side you can see a bit of the sports precinct with the MCG dominating the backdrop. It’s a pretty small garden, and lacks some of the facilities you get at other parks, like benches, drinking water, toilets, playground for kids. But with a stunning view like this, it’s hard to beat this spot.

Beautiful expanse of gardens in the city, with towering trees and flowering shrubs. Looks well-maintained and has a concrete path that loops all the way around. There are benches and a skate park here also! Not too busy when I went. Was a lovely break from the hustle and bustle of the CBD.

Lovely spot to have a coffee or read a book. Escape the noise and rush of the city, be greeted by green frogs and brown ducks. Splendid. Highly recommended - especially on a sunny day👌

Nice gardens. I would have given 5 stars but my dog swallowed a used nang charger and couldn't pass it. He had to get dog surgery.

One of the best gardens in Melbourne. It's a two minute walk from the Flinders Street station and right across Arts Centre. The gardens are spread out enough that the noise from the busy St Kilda Road traffic is absorbed by the greenery all around. It's one of those places where you can spend the whole day walking around, lying on the grass, walking more along the Yarra river, and maybe catch a evening concert at the Arts Centre, or even watch a cellist play Bach on the other side of the road. I'd definitely go again. And again. :)

The Alexandra Gardens are located on the south bank of the Yarra River, opposite Federation Square and the Melbourne Central Business District, in Victoria, Australia. The Gardens are bounded by the Yarra River to the north, Princes and Swan street bridges, with Queen Victoria Gardens and Kings Domain across Alexandra Avenue to the south. The gardens are part of the Domain parklands which stretch to the Royal Botanic Gardens and were first laid out in 1901, under the direction of Carlo Catani, Chief Engineer of the Public Works Department. The Alexandra Gardens were named in honor of Alexandra of Denmark, in the year her reign as Queen Consort of the United Kingdom and the British Dominions and Empress consort of India began. The Alexandra Gardens are listed on the Victorian Heritage Register due to their historical and archaeological significance.

I've commented on this place before and my comments now are the same as before. On a beautiful, sunny Melbourne day it is a delight to sit quietly in this park and watch the world go by. Super shadey trees, gentle breezes and the beautiful, unequaled vista of the City of Melbourne in the background. Is there heaven on earth? Yep, and it's called Melbourne.

Mainly went for the Moomba Festival which was great all be it very crowded. The surrounding gardens are really beautiful and you can't help but feel calm whilst in them. Loads of fresh lawns to sit, relax, ponder and watch the world go by. Some nice ponds and water features, floral arrangements and a monument or two. Really nice!

The art installations here are always pleasant to see, even if I don't or the effort into understanding them. There is a nice duck pond with good atmosphere, would recommend a visit. Occasionally Mumba occurs in the park and it's a bit of a racket, so if you're in the area at the time, and not attending the festival, you may want to visit the Botanic gardens instead.

beautiful little spot for a picnic or a lay in a park! was great to look around and see the gardens! Not 100% kid friendly as there wasn't much for them to actually do and the toilets are few and fair between. But worth the walk around and so close to the city and the great alleyways. Grab an ice cream and relax.

Was enjoying KFC here once when all of a sudden the Swans starting revealing their true humanoid forms and beat me unconscious, then they used radiation to reincarnate me into a mole. This does get three stars however cause the swans did turn me back to my original form to avoid getting the CIA (whom they are employed by) investigated for crimes against humanity. Very cool!

Alexandra Gardens, Melbourne. These gardens run along the south bank of the Yarra River. They were developed in 1904. They connect you with King's Domain and the Royal Botanic Gardens. IYou are also connected with The Tan - a popular exercise track. There are 2 paths one along the river and one further inland. You can walk along the path and watch the rowers come out of the historic rowing boat houses and row off along the river. There are plenty pf benches to sit on along the way and you can even see the Two Headed Angel sculpture on the other side of Birrarung Marr. Most the pathways here are lined with palm trees and are a favourite spot for people to sit and watch Moomba water activities and have picnics in the warmer months [obviously pre-post current restrictions]. The stairs leading to the gardens are not steep and can be navigated with ease. There are also shared pedestrian / bike paths so that if you have mobility issues you can enter the gardens this way too. The paths themselves are mostly flat and nice for a stroll or exercise. You can also get a nice side view of the city and a long view of the Yarra River both ways from this area. Get along to these gardens for exercise or a stroll with the allowed number of friends / family and remember to social distance.
