Black Rock, Cerberus. Nice beach close to Melbourne and easily accessible. Don't pay 6 dollars to park in the provided parking, park on the street or side streets where posted for free. It's not a long walk.

Beautiful beach near Melbourne CBD. I've lived in Melbourne for 42 years and have never seen this place before. A shipwreck of HNVS Cerberus is visible not far from shore. We put our drones up and had a bit of a look around. Loved it here and will definitely be back.

This is one of the best places to take time out and relax. The best views of the bay and Melbourne city only second to Green Point Brighton. There's plenty of seating for the ocean/cliff views and the only thing that's missing is a few tables and a little shade when it's super hot.

Very gorgeous place, especially during evening time on a sunny day, the colour of rocks keeps changing from yellow to red as the sun goes down. There are tracks you can walk, you can also walk down to the beach, and get close to these rocks. Plus HMVS Cerberus ship wreckage not far in the ocean.

Red Bluff lookout is located near the Black Rock beach overlooking the Half Moon Bay. Great views of the bay from the top and if you walk down to the beach you can see the sandstone cliff with it reddish colour due to Iron oxide. Definitely worth visiting for great views, beach, walk & sunsets & Yes you can also see the historic shipwreck from the lookout or Pier.

A historical location in Melbourne's artist history. Everyone should visit here to understand first hand why this spot is inspiring. Of course if there was a cafe positioned here it would make that a little more attractive a reason to visit.

Lovely clifftop which can be reached from Beach Rd or the Cerberus boat house. There are two picnic table sets at different lookout points so if you're lucky you might be able to nab a table and eat while enjoying the view. Sadly there were many visitors ignoring safety fencing and signs and climbing out onto the unstable cliff face.

This lookout has fabulous panoramic views of the bay, a shipwreck and the beaches below. Just one of the amazing viewpoints along the cliff top walk. Recommend.

Went here after seeing a tik tok and it was pretty good. To get to the lookout, just go through the ramp to the beach. You should turn right and keep going until you see red cliffs. Climb a bit and turn left until you could see the beautiful cliffs. If you're feeling brave, you could climb all the way to the top and get gorgeous pictures. Unfortunately, i saw a few broken glass around the area even though i was walking barefoot so please be careful. Overall, it was pretty nice and you could go to the beach after the lookout. But, to be honest, im sure you could find other lookouts that are better around this area, especially near mt martha or mt eliza

Red Bluff Lookout offers a decent vantage point with some truly impressive views of the coast. The natural red cliffs contrast beautifully with the azure waters, providing great photo opportunities. It's an inviting spot for those who love coastal panoramas. The trail leading to the lookout is relatively accessible, though some areas can be a tad uneven. While the experience is generally peaceful, signage and facilities could use a bit of enhancement. It's worth noting that during peak times, it can get a touch crowded. All in all, Red Bluff Lookout is a commendable destination with room for minor improvements.

Have you ever been to this lookout in Melbourne? This is Red Bluff Lookout in Black Rock, one of the most beautiful beaches in MelbourneThere’s even a sunken shipwreck called HMVS Cerberus you can see that’s used as a breakwater for half moon bay. We enjoyed a picnic here, as it’s the perfect place to enjoy a sunset.

Such an awesome experience! Perfect place to witness a magical sunset. There were few benches available to sit, relax and enjoy. So calm and Serene! Absolutely loved it. Free parking available after 7pm may be(not sure about the timing).

The towering rock cliff stands directly next to the beach. It was not a holiday, but there were still a large number of tourists gathering on the beach, sunbathing, reading, chatting, and enjoying the leisurely and comfortable atmosphere like a vacation.

Not a great tourist spot for sightseeing but I am sure for sun bathing and swimming it is good. Lots of people even on the bluffs made it hard to photograph. But, that’s my problem as most people would want to sit on the beach 😂

The rock formation is quite nice in this area, even though it's a small piece compared to what you may see on great ocean road.

Beautiful erosive phenomenon of the yellow-brown sandstone coastal cliff. A little attention is required when walking at the base in order to avoid any risk. Quiet place to enjoy the beach in relaxation.

Good spot for some freediving around HMAS Cerberus shipwreck. Not so deep (less than 4mts) but exploring around the ship made it worth.

The Red Bluff Lookout offers a stunning panoramic view of Melbourne's coastline. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking, making it a perfect spot for a leisurely hike or a peaceful moment to soak in the natural beauty. The location itself is well-maintained, with clear signage and accessible paths. My only wish is for more shaded areas and seating options to fully enjoy the view. Overall, a great place for nature enthusiasts and photographers alike.

Gorgeous small beach with plenty of great spots for photos! Only down side being parking costs and arm and a leg at over $10 an hour. Surely the council can decrease that during winter.

Gorgeous lookout. Amazing sunset view on a lovely sunny day. Just dazzling. I loved my time there with my husband 😍 Absolutely recommended. Oops and if you don’t want to pay for the parking just park it on the side of the road like we did 😝

Great views of Cerberus from an elevated view. Less crowded then the Cerberus dock car park/beach level. It's a bit of a walk to get the picnic tables. Better suited for walkers and hikers. More of a pit stop if you have children as you would need to walk down hill to the beach. Best view is from the carpark, as the waves get choppy in the inlet

Quite an unassuming place to stop by for an aerial view of half moon bay. The lookout presents an average view - nothing major that the nearby beaches and lookout don't present. The most useful part of this lookout is that it gives you the location to park your car in case you want to go and visit the red bluff and half moon bay. The beach is alright and decent enough for a lazy day out. The red bluff is the red mountain-ish structure that's on the opposite end of the boat parking end of the beach. Great spot for photos. Quite enjoyable overall.

Red Bluff lookout has amazing views looking out into Port Phillip bay, it overlooks the HMVS/HMAS Cerberus shipwreck too.

Good view at sunset and going into dusk. Make sure to go when it has clear skies. Since that will give you a nice sunset. The lights across the bay will slowly turn on giving you a nice view. The entire area is sandy so only go when it is very dry unless you like bringing wet sand home. It's a short drive to several dinner spots so you can go there once the sun sets.

This is a great place to take a car parked alongside bay road and experience a great view. Apart from the main view, there is a small path to down side which has an even greater view. Although this path is much less safe and shouldn't really be attempted unless you're confident with your footing. Much better than the observatory up the road that will charge $$ just to park.

Nice lookout point, good place to walk or just look at the water. Note that it's a paid parking area, but you can probably find a parking spot across Beach Road on one of the side streets.

The scenery of lookout is cool. The rock is pretty with different colours anf shapes. You can have a walk around the half moon bay in the same time. It is good to spend few hours to stay and have a fish anf chips.

Nice scenic place for the relaxing afternoon at the beach. Love the rock formations

  • 4/5 WB A. 1 year ago on Google
Exotic geological formations amongst a popular metropolitan beach with space and plenty of room to take your dogs for a run, downside is pay parking before 8pm I think it’s bit unnecessary and unattractive and should be removed, Mother Nature should be free for everyone to explore and enjoy…

Amazing views. There’s also a walking trail nearby which is convenient for walking/jogging. Car parking is available nearby, but please check the time (and ticket details) in nearby parking signs. Thanks.

Brilliant sunset views from the cliff lookout area. The walk up the rocky cliffs isn't too bad and most of the pathways are easy to ascend. Beautiful views all around the rocky area which is only a short walk from the main beach and restaurants.
