I last visited St Kilda's Market about 20 years ago and it has changed much. I really liked it then, it was less crowded and less commercial. Today it very much packed and prices have soared for the items on sale, including food and beverages. Taking a walk to the pier was time better spent.

One of the highlights while visiting St. Kilda beach front. Many art and crafts stalls, as well as food stalls, operate on Sunday from 10 am. I found 2 interesting stalls selling fresh sugar cane drinks and Harley Davidson trike tours.

Though the market has some interesting items overall its a bunch of overpriced artisan goods. Yes I can see how could be good for tourists but just leaves me a little bit cold, maybe i'm misremembering but don't think it was always like this and such a shame to see so many empty stall spaces.

Beautiful walk along the espy and the artisian market is great. It's not a huge market, but well worth the experience. Then you can go down the beach front, look at the boat's or have a coffee.

Large variety of quality crafts. I purchased a leather satchel from Suzie Q stall and after using it daily a slight tear appeared. I went to the stall and was pleasantly surprised Suzanne was still going strong and she agreed to repair it for me. Her sun hats were beautiful and I bought one as well. Great service.

EDIT: More stalls open as weather improves. Go on Sundays. Opens 10am. Only half open probably due to Covid-19. Day was pleasant. Plenty jewellery stalls.

Nice and spacious area nearby the shore. Not crowded. Good to look at variety of items, limited food choices. Probably about 40 vendors when I visited

Was there for the festival and it was a great place to walk around. Busy and festive. Nice vibe. A lovely location close to the beach.

This is a nice market at a great location and with plenty of handmade crafts and products, a few food trucks are also available and we tried the Chef Calamari which was nice. Probably not big enough as a destination market, but certainly worth visiting if you are coming to St Kilda beach on a Sunday.

It's difficult to give this less or more than 3 stars.. If I had written this review a few years ago, I would say it needed 12 stars. Don't get me wrong, there are still plenty of great little stalls, and even if you don't plan on buying anything, it's still nice to look on your walk past on a Sunday. Some stalls are quite decently priced, others think they have a one of a kind lottery to sell.

A great set of stalls. If you are in the area for the day it's a good little walk with over 30+ stalls. I wouldn't travel too far just to attend the market by its self

First visit after a few years, a lot smaller than it used to be. Might have been just a bad day. Still some cool stalls. Lots of jewellery.

Always a good day out. Heaps of variety as far as stalls go, great food and drink as well as awesome people. Do yourself a favor and visit at least once and I'll wager 1 you won't be sorry you did and 2 you'll be back

Very fun to walk along the side walk of local vendor's selling their art's and crafts; ceramics, photography, clothing, jewelry, food items, original pieces of art and food trucks. Can be busy so take your time and use public transportation if an option as there is other venues close by, besides the beach and pier.

Beautiful weather today, Melbourne sun shining with a slight chill in the air. A few stalls missing from the market, but what was there was definitely worth looking at. I love this market, it's well worth a visit.

  • 4/5 Joel H. 6 years ago on Google
Great spot to appreciate the night sky, incoming weather or lack there of and city lights over water. You must'nt mind plenty of public intoxication as it's quote prevalent here. Most people keep to themselves though and hasn't caused me any issue.

  • 4/5 J P. 3 years ago on Google
I've always loved this market.. with all of the beautiful hand crafted items up for sale. I'd say that you could find a gift here for just about anyone! Great atmosphere. Well worth the look! The food van at the Fitzroy st end of the market has the most delicious FRESH CALAMARI .. Cooked to perfection & the prawns were magnificent!! Big serves, freshly cooked, friendly faces and the prices are very reasonable.

Great setting over looking st kilda esplanade and beach. Right next door to Luna Park. Plenty of restaurants and cafes to choose from. But the Dutch donuts were yummy. Unusual and interesting hand made jewellery on offer too

  • 2/5 Samantha G. 1 year ago on Google
Website says 140+ stalls and made out like it was big and awesome but there was probably 15 little stalls and half of them were for pets/dog clothing

The number of shops were less this week, most probably due to weather otherwise my fav weekend market for local talent

  • 4/5 Greig Stuart T. 1 year ago on Google
Lovely little Sunday market offering a whole range of tasty treats and homely gifts. Bustling atmosphere We treated ourselves to some Dutch pancakes with Nutella and sugar icing from Naval’s, before wondering past all the gift stalls and eyeing up some items for our new flat! Would recommend a visit here and then a wonder down to the beach.

Flea market with 1 stretch of stalls, with mixture of handicrafts and some food. It will not take very long to walk through the market but there are many things nearby - St Kilda beach, Luna Park, and many restaurants just 10 mins walk below. I would recommend visiting this area.

  • 5/5 Marts 2. 1 year ago on Google
Great market. Different stalls than the usual that you see. Friendly stall holders as well.

  • 3/5 Kristen E. 1 year ago on Google
Very repetitive with stalls, definitely not easy to navigate around with that many people crammed onto the footpath trying to look at the stalls. Definitely not disability friendly.

  • 3/5 ace1t S. 1 year ago on Google
Used to be very good but since covid, has not come back as well as the past with a lot less stalls. Still a good variety though and worth a visit and a walk. A lot of handmade goods and souvenirs. Be careful with parking since parking inspectors abound. An easy walk to Fitzroy St or Acland St and Luna Park too

  • 5/5 Nisa R. 1 year ago on Google
It's sunday market, you can find accessories, art, and some light snacks like pancake, donuts, coffee

  • 3/5 Shereen 1 year ago on Google
Worth a visit if you are in the area, but not worth to come just for the market.

  • 5/5 Claire F. 1 year ago on Google
Very Melbourne, a good selection of handmade crafts and gifts. Great for presents, especially at Christmas, if you want something different from the usual High Street staples. I buy for overseas family to send something unique. 👍🏻

  • 4/5 Baking Bad M. 11 months ago on Google
Always lovely to stroll along the esplanade with the beautiful views a delicious pastry and coffee/juice and check out all the work the amazingly talented makers have to offer. Beware, some stall holders do not allow photography - they have no problem telling you off too!

  • 3/5 KellyG 1 year ago on Google
The market is not as bustling as it once was, perhaps it is still playing catch-up after COVID? White Rose food truck was 10/10 - Roast beef dinner, wrapped up in a Yorkie, smothered in proper gravy for $15

  • 4/5 Michelle W. 4 months ago on Google
Market adjacent to the beach with the usual market fare: candles, pet outfits, decorations, clothes, food trucks (pizza, boba, souvlaki, ice cream, chips). It's not very big, but it was nice to browse on the way to the beach.

  • 5/5 Akash G. 5 months ago on Google
Clean, breezy/airy esplanade to spend time watching the sea, chatting with local small producers during the Sunday morning market and simply appreciating small things that can only be enjoyed when free time is valued as such...

  • 5/5 Bobby-Jane B. 5 months ago on Google
Lovely walk along the water front, could be very busy I would say in peak times
