Wonderful- must do experience. From the beginning to the end the staff was very friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious with premium ingredients. We were greeted with the top brand of German Champagne (HENKELL) and as far as I can tell the alcohol was limitless as well as the other drinks.

Took a midweek daytime tour, 2 hours return in total. Very enjoyable, I learned a lot of things about Melbourne and saw it from angles you normally don’t get to see. The driver was very informative and the whole experience was very worthwhile. I particularly enjoyed travelling near the port and seeing the industrial areas. Standing on the back deck was terrific, particularly passing under the low bridges. Highly recommended!

What an amazing experience and worth every penny! This was a birthday dinner date night for my partner and yeah Melbourne River Cruise delivered! From the amazing ambiance, the colourful views, delectable food, overflowing drinks and the noteworthy excellent costumer service staff made the night very memorable and the best way to spoil someone :-) The surprise birthday cake and singing made the night more special for my partner and we can’t thank you enough! Kudos to the whole team and looking forward to visit them again :-)

I took a Melbourne River Cruise along the Yarra River on my last day in the city and it was relaxing and enjoyable. The captain was hilarious with his points of interest talks and it was great to learn more about Melbourne’s sporting precinct which lines the Yarra. For a one hour cruise it a good way to be introduced to Melbourne along the Yarra. The staff who look after the tours was outstanding!

Lovely staff, lovely food and lovely experience! Can’t fault on a thing on this cruise. We had such a relaxing and enjoyable time and the food was genuinely one of the best I have had on any cruises before! Also, the bottomless drinks just made the whole experience even more worth it! What’s not to love here!😍 I highly recommend you guys to book this experience!💗

I have now done the Dinner cruise and Bottomless brunch and have had a very enjoyable experience both times. The staff are always super friendly and make sure you’ve always got a drink available. The food has been really well presented and tasty both times. Recommend giving this a go, it’s a great fun time out with friends.

Awesome and wonderful experience with the cruise. The captain was super information and entertaining at the same time. Enjoyed it thoroughly. The captain gave a lot of information about bridges and a little of history. Captain was humourous at the same time, making the information not boring but entertaining.

The perfect opportunity to see some beautiful scenery during daylight and then enjoy the lights of Melbourne on the return. Fantastic staff and service is exemplary. Worthwhile and value for money package of all inclusive drinks with a delicious dinner. Our waiter Miko was amazing. Not once did we have to ask for a drink. Professional, friendly and pleasant he made our experience effortless. The reminder prior to the Cruise and the directions to the dock were so helpful, particularly as we are from the Country. We simply brought them up for our Taxi driver and he knew exactly where to take us. Bravo Melbourne River Cruises! Exceptional!

Great experience. Staff were all courteous and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was delicious, something for everyone and the boat itself was sparkling clean and beautifully presented. We took my older parents and they thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a bonus to be able to stand at the front and not have to sit down for 2 hours. Highly recommend this cruise.

We did the 2 hour cruise today and it was really great. The captain did a fantastic commentary of Melbourne history throughout the first half of the cruise which was really interesting. The cruise itself was nice and smooth and went long enough to be able to take in the sights. Complimentary tea and coffee on board of you want. There's a small look out deck at the back which is nice. Be on time to check in and early in line for a window seat. We would definitely go again maybe for the dinner cruise next time.

Thank you for a wonderful Christmas Day Lunch & cruise on The Yarra River Melbourne. Food was yummy however No Plum Pudding? Pavlova could have been added instead of the some of the cakes. I suggest you really look at this plus if you do a Cheese Platter do a Good one. Not a small plate for two. No Tea or Coffee?? Either. Present the food on different levels. Plenty of room on board for it. Staff did a good job but really needed more staff as guests were going to the bar to get a drink???. All that aside it was a pleasant relaxing day. Merry Christmas to you all.

It was such an amazing experience! I went there for my partner's birthday and they offered a small cake for him with a birthday song😊 The sailing was very smooth so I didn't have to worry about my seasick and food was beautiful and fresh. Our table was on the first floor and we could go upstairs to feel sea breeze. I would love to recommend melbourne river cruises for a special occasion! Thank you very much!

A comfortable, smooth sailing experience over the Yarra. My partner and I enjoyed spending Valentine's Day here. We were extremely full by the end of the 4-course meal! I would recommend for them to cater more options for vegans and vegetarians, but otherwise we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Even though we did not get a window seat, we could still walk out and enjoy the view close to the water. A lovely night and atmosphere. Service was wonderful and pleasant, we were constantly asked for a drink refill which was generous!! You're doing great Spirit of Melbourne! Definitely recommend to all.

On a warm day this is a wonderful way to cool off and enjoy some of Melbourne’s historic and modern sights. Hopping on at Southbank for the 2 hour Melbourne Sights River Cruise was fabulous. 1 hour up-stream and back, a short disembark for a half hour at Southbank and then back on for 1 hour downstream out and past the Bolte Bridge. The guide on our trip was very knowledgeable providing interesting points along the way about the history of Melbourne and the landmarks, buildings and bridges along the Yarra River. The boat glides effortlessly across the calm Yarra, and as such there is no danger of sick sickness, a huge plus for me! Highly recommended for all ages.

To top it all off, we have photo memories of the sights and lights of our last night in Melbourne. Thanks team. We will be sure to let our friends know about this back in NZ.

We celebrated our anniversary last night on the Sunday dinner cruise. It was wonderful. Staff greets you with a smile, immediately asks you what you want to drink (no waiting around), have some chit chat, our initial waitress mentioned our special night, the captain gave us cruisers a nice welcoming speech. We always decorate our own table (they let you). We have been on this dinner cruise several times over the years, and it's always 5-star treatment and food. Eye Fillet Steak was so yummy, competes with the best at the Crown Casino. Bottomless cup is a bonus, too. A surprise anniversary cake! Special touches like this makes the night. Others celebrated birthdays and anniversaries, too. Great night.

We love the food, the hospitality and experience. We have entree, a selection of mains- we choose the eye fillet and it was done to perfection 🥰 the way we like it, free flow of drinks. Love the champagne, reds and beers. And ended the meal with a plate of nice cakes and pastries to share. The captain and his crews were welcoming and friendly. They were attentive and introduced themselves to us and they were regularly checking to ensure our needs were met. Cruising down Yarra River in the night was an experience. Beautiful lights from the buildings and skyscrapers. Just amazing. Thank you everyone for making my birthday such a memorable one.

We'd originally booked for Thursday evening to celebrate our anniversary but had to cancel a few days before. They were more than happy to change our booking to Friday (last night). The whole evening was amazing. We boarded right on time and shown to our table. We were immediately offered sparkling wine to drink. The staff were attentive and friendly and the food was really good. In fact, the steak was perfect. The river is beautiful and we wondered why we've never done this before. It's an evening we highly recommend and will come again. Excellent value for money.

Aboard the Yarra Empress, we were on a cruise through to docklands and beyond. Funny and very informative commentary by the captain and very large vessel. We went on a very raining and a high tide afternoon but the skilled captain was able to navigate us through the small and narrow openings of the three low bridges on the Yarra. Great sights of the Melbourne skyline on the way back. Sit back and relax with complementary hot coffee and tea. Recommended.

Surprisingly FANTASTIC! From the first bubbly hand to me on arrival to the last plate of a cheese & fruit platter. All the staff were quick with refilling drinks and being attentive with plating and clearing. Cute little romantic tables sets the scene and the cruise was full of chatty happy guests, full of atmosphere for the cruise. I highly recommend the Chef quality food and unlimited alcohol on this Melbourne “Evening Yarra Cruise”. The night lights of Melbourne on return were stunning to photograph from the bow. We shall be Booking again when in Melbourne! 5 Star thank you! Oct23

The Melbourne River Cruise is a scenic and beautiful boat ride that you take along the Yarra River which you can use to tour the city of Melbourne. I was lucky with the weather and I ended travelling towards the Eastern Suburbs/MCG and got to see all of the sporting arenas from the river and other landmarks that Melbourne has to offer! Living in Melbourne nothing was really new to me (but it was beautiful, scenic a worth a go),but if you are a tourist and want to have a look and discover Melbourne even more than the river cruise is the place to go to!

The cruise and dinner were so well organised in every way. The seating was well spaced, and the food was excellent with steak cooked perfectly. The service was amazing with wine, spirits and beer served. There wasn’t a time when you had to ask for drinks ,as all staff continually topped up or were quick to remove an empty glass and bring another. The delivery of each course was just right considering the limited preparation space that must have been available. We finished off with a cheese board with tea and coffee that was a nice finish to an excellent night. *****

Really cool experience. Great way to see parts of the city from a different perspective. However the informative part can be hit and miss depending on who is on your boat. We booked the docks and gardens and had to switch boats for each. The tour plays over speakers and on the dock tour others were so loud we couldn't hear anything. The gardens tour had quieter people and could hear more which was what we were looking for. Smoking on the back deck. Bathrooms and a bar with drinks and snacks inside. Free tea and coffee available. Would recommend for sightseeing over a learning experience just because you dont know what kind of crowd will be on the boat.

I rated the experience with a score of 4 due to the absence of a guide or any narration regarding the town's historical background. The activity mainly consisted of a simple ride along the river and back. Nonetheless, the scenery was undoubtedly beautiful, and I am content that I partook in it. However, there is room for improvement in terms of providing a more engaging and entertaining experience.

We hired a private boat for 25 people with buffet dinner and unlimited wines, beers and softdrinks and we all loved it! Gigi has been very patient to answer all our questions regarding the cruise. Great selection of foods and they were delicious! Staff were all accommodating and friendly. Although we had a call 1 hr before the departure time that there was a problem with the charter boat that caused us distress, they were able to fix it eventually and the planned river cruise went ahead as planned.

I always find it hard to go around the Melbourne city with my little kids but I tried some of popular activities in the city this week and I am satisfied with what I have done with the kids. One of the nicest things is the sightseeing cruise. It cost only $20 for the kid and $38 for the adult. It is cheaper for a family of four too and there are other deals available. It is 1 hour course and it seems reasonably priced. I love the peaceful scenes and other boats and canoes on Yarra River. It is located close to the Flinder’s Street so we could easily walk to the Berth as the confirmation email sends you clear information and it was pretty easy to find the boat. I love the stroll with the kids before and after the cruise and appreciate the information on the cruise about Melbourne city and all the bridges. There are toilets and snack bar with water and drinks so my kids could have some snacks while enjoying the beautiful Melbourne’s sceneries. I never expected this to be this good. The captain and the assistance were professional and made everything nicer. I totally loved everything that I saw and did on the cruise. I parked my car and used free tram to go to the station and walked. A very nice and short stroll. If you want a day out in the city, this is such a nice thing to try. Your parking could be more expensive than a child’s ticket so public transport would be a nice option. I think the night view would be nicer if you have bigger kids or if it is just a date night. No need to mention about all the nice restaurants around Yarra❤️

Great tourist tour of the Yarra river with an abundance of information and history on the famous Yarra River entwined amongst the city and its suburbs. Boat was abut run down though and a very disappointing experience was sitting on the back deck enjoying a smoke free experience until the staff decided on having a cigarette and unknowingly it was hitting me in the face. It really put a dampener on the experience.

Great weather for a cruise up and down the Yarra River for a unique perspective of Melbourne. Downstream to Herring Island for the first hour then a 30 minute break back at the Southgate Berth before heading upstream for the second hour under 4-5 low bridges, then under the Bolte Bridge to the Melbourne Port precinct and return. Coffee & tea available on board along with male & female rest rooms. Informative commentary on the first half of the downstream and upstream cruise. Plenty of seats inside with open windows for capturing the many sights, as is the small outdoor area at the rear of the boat. Very good value when booking discount fares through bookme.com.au.

Loved the cruise. Helpful staff. Got a good deal through Groupon and checked in direct from my phone. No paper needed at the counter. Just need to bear in mind the timings and be early to get in the queue to get a window seat. Complimentary tea and coffee on board. Outdoor deck views too. Would highly recommend to go in a bright sunny day so the water doesn't look that dirty. Smooth ride all through. The captain is a good entertainer too.

Omg. It was an amazing experience. The boat was big enough. I didn't sit inside, i went out and stood at the back. It was so cold but the views made it worth the cold. The company was so disciplined - punctuality and manners. Would recommend this trip to people who wanna visit the buildings and surrounding areas, and take fun pictures. I took Cruise A and B. Both together took 2 hours, with 30 mins break in-between.

At the time of my review the average rating was 4,3 stars with 746 reviews. I booked the Ports & Dockland but according to staff this trip was not possible due to the current level of water in the river so I had to take the less interesting River Gardens cruise where 60+% of that cruise has not been interesting at all for me personally. I highly recommend checking with the staff on site before making a booking.

An excellent way to take a glance to Melbourne from Yarra River. Beautiful sights. Very nice crew. The captain Michael explained very well the history of each 13 bridges and made us look to one side to another showing and explaining everything. A different way to replace hop-on hop-off buses, not available in Melbourne City.

Booked this dinner cruise for my wife's birthday. Absolutely 💯 PERFECT! The food was superb. The best beef outside of a steak house! The lamb shank - exquisite 👌! The views were beautiful! Seeing my own city from a point of view I'd never seen it from before is priceless! And the service was, quite simply, exceptional! A huge shout out to Ryan and Julian on the top deck. Both gents were exceptionally attentive. No request was a problem, everything was a pleasure. Both men are a credit to the business! We'll DEFINITELY be back to do this again!

I did both the dinner cruise and the 1 hour river gardens cruise. Definitely recommend the dinner cruise. Food was great, service exceptional and very attentive with topping up your drink. Would recommend requesting a window table with your booking as there's not a lot to see on the middle tables. The river garden cruise was ok. Guide was informative but not a lot to see once the ferry leaves the city part. Would probably be better to choose the down river Docklands cruise instead.

My experience with Melbourne River Cruises was really disappointing. I paid a premium for what was supposed to be a great cruise, but it was far from it. The seats unfixed chairs were uncomfortable and didn’t feel safe for a boat, it was like sitting uncomfortably in a crowded space. I expected better service, seats and a nicer environment for the premium price I paid. Staff and booking were very nice. My comment about the facility. I won’t be recommending Melbourne River Cruises to anyone based on my experience. It just wasn’t what I expected.

The cruise up the river was nice, but our favourite part was actually one of the staff on land - Ryan. He was delightful and kept us entertained while we waited for our boat to arrive. We were big fans and we wish his mam all the best for the wedding!

Started at Williamstown the boat arrived 25 minutes late.. there was no commentary as previously mentioned.. we were scheduled to come back leaving at 3.00pm from Southbank, we arrived at 2.45pm to be told the boat had left, "go catch the competitors boat or catch a trian" no attempt was made to call the staff on the boat.. we did receive a full refund. Not good enough. Good luck if your a tourist..

We did the twilight cruise which was nice. It was raining for the first half so couldn't see much as we were inside. There is a small deck at the back which was good for viewing.

Melbourne River Cruise - Yarra Princess ⭐️⭐️⭐️ A choice of one or two hour sightseeing cruise. We took the two that took us all the way out to Williamstown and back. Complimentary coffee, tea are offered. As well as water $3, beer & wine for $8 can be purchased cash only. No food for sale. Light commentary by the staff. Most of the seating, non assigned, is covered but there is a small back deck to sit or stand outside. There are many offering from dinner cruises or holiday. This is an enjoyable change of pace to see the Melbourne skyscrapers.

The up river trip was a little dull - Williamstown was more interesting. Nice views, but could hardly hear the commentary over noisy tourists.

  • 1/5 Vitaliy V. 4 years ago on Google
Extremely poor way of organising things. Over 50 people with kids are waiting under the blistering sun next to an empty boat for over 40 minutes while captain is apparently having lunch. Tickets system is ancient and confusing. Total lack of signs. Hard to believe that it is private enterprise as even Melbourne public transport is light years ahead in every aspect.

Only had time to do the short cruise to the Docklands and back, 1hr @$27 per adult, learnt some history of early Australia in that area that was new to me,probably better to go for the 2hr cruise if time permits

An hour or so sail to Williamstown. Scenic view and Melbourne skyline were awesome. But that's it nothing more.

Dreadful sound system, couldn't hear a word of the narration. Tea and coffee served in styrofoam cups. Really guys? In today's day and age you have to use styrofoam?? I understand the need for disposable cups but see no reason for non biodegradable styrofoam. There are plenty of more environmentally friendly alternatives out there.

We took our little man for the river cruise with #melbournerivercruise & we were served at the counter by Fay a very charming & friendly person. She has been at her job for over 20 years and what a legend! Does her job with so much enthusiasm and love, we felt the x’mas spirit as she allowed my nearly 4year old to ride the ferry no charge 🥳 We felt the love through the cruise and enjoyed the sights. Recommend the cruise to anyone wanting to view Melbourne from the river and to see things from a different perspective. Ps: be good and kind to all, u never know how ur smile helps create magic in other peoples lives 🥰❤️🌈

I bought 3 x Groupon vouchers to use today when we visited the city. We live an hour and a half away. I was told when I tried to redeem the vouchers that they weren't valid on a public holiday. After I queried that there was no mention of public holidays on the voucher or in the give print, they changed their story and said that they had exhausted their allocation of Groupon vouchers for the day. We went down to where the boat berths and watched the boats go out half full for most of the trips between 2 and 5pm. It wouldnt have hurt Melbourne River Cruises to let us go on the boat today, they weren't full, so this was just mean spirited of them. I would have thought with the terrible year we have had with Covid, that looking after people today like us wouldn't have hurt them. We paid $21per ticket, full price is $27. Very poor form, disappointing and won't encourage anyone we know to take this cruise.

Staff were great, food was excellent and the cruise and tour were brilliant. Highly recommended, with some great photo opportunities. Window seat is definitely advised, but there is the option to venture out onto the deck for photos and the like. Food and wine were superb.

One of the best things for the tourist. This cruise will take you on the yarra river where you will see the beautiful city, parks, stadiums, people doing boating and kayaking. Cruise Pilot will brief you about all the historical things you pass by. Great to explore on a sunny day. It’s one hour ride. You can even go to the backside of the cruise to enjoy a full view. It’s worth the money. Click amazing pictures. 🙌

A last minute decision after coming out of lockdown 4.0 to organise a 40th birthday by chartering a 4 hour BYO cruise led us to Melbourne River Cruises and Sharon the coordinator. The captain, crew, bar staff, operations manager and Sharon were all delightful and extremely patient given the ever-changing 'rona restrictions and the impact on allowed number of guests, etc. It was a fantastic party and the cruise itself was gorgeous. Everyone went out of their way to make sure everyone had a safe and enjoyable time. The highlight was the upgrade to a bigger boat since it was free, but also because they wanted to ensure that with such a large party everyone would be comfortable. Thanks so much! A few tips if you're booking the BYO: - the alcohol needs to be loaded an hour ahead of general boarding - everyone can't just rock up with 1000 different items, so its best to bulk purchase in advance. - Dominos on Flinders Street has super cheap $5 pizzas you can pre-book for pickup to ensure that you've got enough food for the amount of alcohol you bring on, which is one of the requirements for the BYO.

It’s best if you take 2 hrs one because the second half of the way is having better view!

  • 5/5 Phillip Edward N. 2 years ago on Google
If you have never seen a river before I can recommend this one. The cruise is performed on one of the boats and you will go up and down the river. You can see many sights along the water, you will even feel like a local celebrity as nearby peasants wave at you from the shoreline. It is a great day out for friends or family. This was the second cruise that Dirk and I have taken together and this one was much more relaxing. This is the best way to enjoy the day in Melbourne city. Thank you MRC!

It's a very good experience to try in Melbourne. One of the best way to see the face of the city from Yarra River. It's was basic trip experience with tea and coffee on board. The view of the river front-line is quite good. After the cruise has passed the low bridge area, people are allowed move around inside the boat and can go behind the deck to get better views.

  • 4/5 Priscilla J. 1 year ago on Google
The river cruise was lovely. However it can get pretty busy. The back open space can get a bit crowded if you're not early. The captain gave us a nice tour down river to the docks and turned back a to the port. Lovely views of the city from here. It's about $35 per person and can sometimes run late so you'll just have to wait around until it leaves. Probably won't do it again but it's a bit of fun for the first time.

First of all, I did my own research for the cruise and read most of the user reviews. I was reluctant to book via Viator due to some negative reviews. But I choose to book the cruise through Viator anyway, because it is easy using their website compared to others. And their prices are very competitive. We took the 2-hour cruise; first half was uptown going to MCG, Botanical Garden, and beyond. Then the second half was downtown going to the Docklands and the ports. Half hour going one way; half hour going back where we started (total 1 hour). Then another half hour going to the 2nd leg of the trip, and half hour back again. Our overall experience was very wonderful. We took the 11AM trip. The narrative of the captain, I believe his name is Jimmy, of the boat was very informative and funny. There was no issue with the audio as we can still hear the captain even sitting from the rear of the boat. I really recommend the river cruise. We've been leaving in Melbourne for almost 20 years now and this is the first time we did the river cruise. And will be doing again with any friends and relatives visiting us here. And will probably doing it again through Viator website.

Yarra River Cruise (Port & Docklands) : 1 hour river cruise...with excellent view of the Melbourne Skyline followed by the Harbour....beautiful views all around ...worth a ride if you are in Melbourne....Just Opposite of the Flinders station....Berth 4

What a delightfully pleasant and leisurely way to see parts of Melbourne easily missed. Meandering up along past the gardens and sports precinct and then down around the continually changing docks, I can think of no better way to spend 2 hours.

  • 4/5 Charlene L. 5 months ago on Google
I recommend taking the one hour northbound cruise over the southbound cruise. It’s more interesting with more to see. Two hours was a bit long for us but happy that we got a buy one get one free offer to make it worthwhile.

  • 3/5 Jude F. 4 months ago on Google
Down river towards the MCG is not really that interesting. Up river is much better. I think it's overpriced considering how worn the boats are and the basic chairs are sitting in the floor able to be moved about. Only small outside viewing area. At one stage the captain left the bridge and let the young deck hand take over the controls while another driver taught her what to do.

I've been three times to this bottomless brunch river cruise and it never disappoints. The service is always great especially by the lady that works at the lower deck. I'll return for sure.
