Hippie Park that looks intentionally rustic. Has an interesting charm to it with all the small barns and pavilions. Great for kids to roam around and for grown ups to indulge in sustainability initiatives. Nice spot for a sunny weekend.

Always a relaxed and interesting place to pass some time. Stopped by the Cafe for a snack after visiting the nursery and ordered, by phone app at the table, and ordered a chai latte and vegetable slice. Service was quick and friendly even though they had a sign up they were short staffed. Worth a visit.

Great place with an awesome vibe. It's best experienced by walking or cycling here. Otherwise what's the point of buying organic stuff produced in an environmentally friendly way if you need to drive there to pick it up. It's located on the picturesque Merri Creek trail. This place is more than just a produce market. There's a great cafe that caters also to vegans, a bicycle recycler, where you can buy bicycles and have them repaired and other interesting events.

At Ceres, my heart swelled with emotion as I wandered through the breathtaking outdoor area, enveloped by the tranquility of nature. The gardens exuded a sense of peace and serenity, offering a welcome respite from the chaos of everyday life. However, my emotional journey took an unexpected turn when I encountered a large Chilean needle grass, a weed of national significance. The sight of this intruder amidst the beauty of the gardens stirred feelings of disappointment and frustration, momentarily overshadowing the serenity of the surroundings. Despite this emotional setback, the allure of the gardens still shines through, earning Ceres a four-star rating for its enchanting outdoor space.

Went on Monday and it was very quiet. Great if you want to have a walk around without people and buzz. Grocery store was a bit smaller than I'd imagine, but still worth a visit for organic vegetables and other organic and home made edibles like trail mix, honey, chocolate, etc. There are other products too worth checking out too if you like natural products. Good coffee but didn't try the food. I think younger kids would like this place - there's even a sand pit with toy trucks. Check out the photos to get a sense of what I've described. Friendly staff and people here, worth a visit especially if you're in the vicinity.

Lovely urban farm in the city. Sustainable garden and way of living. Bakery, cafe, general food store. Great atmosphere for just a stroll and brekky. More than meets the eye. Nursery was amazing!

Lovely place, lovely cafe. A peaceful way to spend an afternoon. Everything in the cafe is cooked from scratch and made with herbs and ingredients from the gardens. I had a mint and watermelon kombucha and a lemon cake which was totally delicious. Nice community noticeboard with information on holistic health providers, alternative lifestyle events, and classifieds. Loved it here and will return.

Beautiful spot to relax with a coffee and a good book, and a great variety of different varieties of fruit and veggie plants and seeds, some very rare. Decent Australian bush botanicals section and knowledgeable staff who are great with questions around growing and planting times. Reasonable prices, but still very easy to blow your budget with extra plants that somehow find their way into your cart.

I always feel "at peace", and "at home" when I spend time at Ceres. Thank you for making the spaces available, and the maintenance, shows, events, and permaculture you make available to everyone. Especially appreciate being able to take a quiet walk with a dog on lead through the grounds.

This place is awesome. Expensive, but awesome. Cafe makes good coffee, the shop has since good unique stuff in there, chooks all over the place, nice environment. Parking is touch n go depending on when you come but there is parking up the street. I'd recommend yes. I love the fact that they have an EV charging station out the front and a lot of solar.

Visited Ceres today and shopped at the artisan market- pottery, hand knitted garments, Christmas decorations and other hand made delights. Lovely walks wandering around. Great shop which sells eco and organic wares including refillable washing and pantry supplies. There is a little cafe in the shop and then a bigger merri cafe, which has a great view from outdoor seating on the balcony. There’s a brilliant nursery too. Has it all.

What a fantastic experience! I walked along Meri Creek to the back entrance. The community run gardens are fantastic. Playgrounds that include a red tram and mystical play area. The nursery was really well stocked as was the grocery store. Had a great lunch at the Cafe. It's a place you could spend many hours enjoying.

Despite it being winter and a cold day we eff housed seeing this unique community garden. There were 2 bus loads of school children participating in programs whilst we were there. A lovely cafe for a hot drink after a stroll around the gardens and the fresh produce stall. It would be interesting to go in the warmer weather.

One of my 'Melbourne Happy Places'. You can always find a quiet spot to reflect, a community with which to engage, a playground for the kids or a delicious bite to eat in the cafe or from the fruit m vege hut. Ceres, you've been here for forever it seems but you seem to get better and better. See you again soon.

Great atmosphere. Lovely organic place. Something for everyone. Prices are a bit high in grocery and cafe, but all organic stuff are these days.

  • 5/5 Tu C. 2 years ago on Google
The grocery and the cafe have a peaceful environment and the staff is very caring. The restaurant was also good at some other we have visited. Brief animal farm experience with the chicken hen and the upcycled playground is a unique area to take your little ones. People should be more accurate using the recycling and the compost bins though. Thank you for the wonderful experience.

Took a cheese making course with my wife here. Janet was fantastic. Her course was fun and gave me the knowledge to start making my own cheese at home. My wife and I had a great time and will definitely be back for more courses in the future. If you're looking for a great gift idea or just want to have a bite to eat CERES Community Environment Park is your place to be.

Excellence example of a community-run urban city farm. Lots of funky little buildings, spaces, and plantings etc. Visit, experience, and learn. Book shop, nursery, cafe/restaurant and produce shop on site.

A quality little park and community area to explore. The overgrown old tram was beautiful. Lots of stuff for the kids to explore. Big playground and mountain to climb. The eco cafe/shop was a little over priced but they have some good stuff and the coffee was tasty. Toilets and parking available.

I'm a regular visitor of Ceres Community Park and love the nature of this Park and the gardens. Including information about nature, water facilities, gardening and maintenance. There is a nursery and 2 beautiful cafes. Opportunities for voluntary work as well.

Great for school kids to learn about the history of Australia and the culture of their indigenous ancestors. I definitely learnt a lot, especially the number of languages spoken prior to Caucasian settlement.

This place is a quirky blend of environmentalism and aesthetic natural surroundings. It is rustic, authentic and functions as a powerful education centre for Melbourne. While not slick, it models possibilities of land use and what educational spaces could resemble for other communities with like passions and vision. Serving school groups and open to general public. To be honest, I've just scratched the surface.

I grew up going to CERES for groceries, exposure to nature’s gifts, live music and family-friendly fun, and in my adulthood I still love it! Such a magical place to learn about and celebrate the ecological world.

This is a great place to bring your dogs out to and catch up with folk. Easy going and relaxed. Has a total communal vibe. Be prepared for prices above the usual. Some prices won't come as a surprise, but paying enormous amounts for the privilege of organic fruit and vege, comes with the price tag. Many just simply cannot afford it. Totally emphasize with families that cannot. I won't judge that. Come to enjoy the visit and the market. Enjoy what you can afford. My advice is just to enjoy the experience.
