STAFF ARE A DISGRACE AND YOUR BUSINESS IS DISGUSTING. This morning my parents and I decided to visit Mario’s Coffee House for what they believed would be a lovely breakfast. After ordering coffee, we proceeded to order our breakfast. After 30 minutes my Mother simply asked the Barista how far away their food would be. With no attitude, as she is a humble well mannered woman. She was then to her surprise, spoken to by the staff member in such an abrupt and dismissive manner. But to add to the attitude, there was the audacity to suggest leaving as it is Mother’s Day and there was going to be a wait. We were upset with disbelief with the disrespectful service we had received and DID decide to leave. They made their way to the register to pay for their coffee and the barista shouted 'Don't worry about the coffee just leave'. Being Mother’s Day, we all know it is expected to be busy and stressful. I work within the hospitality industry and have been so for 7 years. The way my parents were spoken to this morning was disgusting is shameful. Despite how furious I was about this whole experience, I did not want to make a scene. As it is your staff that should feel embarrassed and not their customers. If I could give advice to anyone who intends to visit this café, I would strongly suggest NOT TO SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS. The appalling attitude of the staff is disgusting. I would I expect to be contacted further in regards to this matter. I don’t care how bad of a day someone is having or if they are too hungover to cater to their job requirements, but I want this feedback relayed onto that Barista and have them rightfully disciplined. My Mother’s Day was ruined by your rude staff. I await your reply and to reach out with an apology.

I was pleasantly surprised with this new pub & entertainment joint in Ivanhoe! Met Sam, Ollie, Daniel & the 2 charming ladies behind the bar who were all most welcoming, this being my very first visit! The place had a really great vibe & will most certainly return for many more beers! I must certainly try the food which I just missed out on as the kitchen closed at 9pm! Great place & congratulations to Sam the owner, well done!!!

I love this place! Sam and Ollie are awesome guys and very accommodating. The food is exceptional and both the food and beers are very reasonably priced. Highly recommend and certainly beats the nearest local the ivanhoe hotel by a country mile!

Meh. The place is ok. Decent beer and food. But the blaring music is so unnecessary. It’s not some hip nightclub - it’s a little suburban bar in a train station car park. And you’ll be waiting ages for service when they’re busy. There’s not many other options in the Ivanhoe, so worth checking it out if you’re in the area.

Highly recommend the loaded Parma from the specials board! Best Parma I’ve had in my life! Plus excellent wine and beer options available, lovely atmosphere and owners too!

Nice little bar. It was pumping here around 6pm on a Friday. Drinks were good and the service was lovely. We just stoped for just the one drink tonight. We’ll certainly return for a longer stint in the future and some food Review for the previous business, Mario’s Real score 3.7 out of 5. I liked it here. Mario’s is unassuming enough and nestled on a hill on Heidelberg Road just near the train station. I liked it immediately. It’s a mighty pleasant place inside or outside on a sunny winter’s day. Nothing like a bit of nice northern light. I started with a large long black which was mighty tidy. It was a good one. I was happy to sip away to the Fleetwood Mac playlist that the young staff seemed to be thoroughly enjoying. The salami toastie I’d ordered took a few minutes to prepare. I’d been warned the cafe was out of sourdough and that it’d be a baguette instead. It was a good snack. The salami was nice and so was the thick stretchy cheese. It was good tasting and lovely. Nice cafe. Good coffee, good food, nice surroundings, pleasant service. That’s all bases covered. I’d happily revisit anytime.

Amazing coffee!!! This is a nice tucked away cafe/ restaurant on the main road..very accessible. Place is very cozy and I believe there have an outdoor area too..the latte and cappuccino we had was made above standards! The brownie was almost amazing! It wasnt sickening sweet and complimented well with the coffee. They also have a selection of typical thin crust pizzas. We ordered the vegetarian one and it was delightful! Very tasty and the base was nice in that you can eat it by itself without the toppings. Nice food and coffee, what more could you ask for! Drop in if you're around the area!

We called in today for a delicious prosciutto and Wild rocket pizza. Just freshly made and lovely to sit outside and watch the world go by! Very friendly and helpful staff too. Glad we gave it a go!

New owners have taken over and have nothing short of an amazing job. What once was Mario’s is now the Post inn, a great local pub run by locals from the area. Food was unreal and the service was impeccable. The venue is multie storied with a pool table room upstairs, dining area and outside courtyard that is lovely. The staff are extremely welcoming and the pizza I had was delicious with a very reasonably priced beer to go with it. Located right next to Darabin station and just a short walk from Ivanhoe Main Street making it an extremely convenient location. I couldn’t recommend the Post Inn more and I look forward my next visit to this new local pub.

Sam and Vikki are wonderful hosts. Perfect place to spend an afternoon. Dropped in for a coffee and ended up spending the whole day. Food was brilliant. The drinks were considered. Couldn’t recommend highly enough!

Came here on a recommendation from a mate that lived locally. We were looking for a local casual pub that also served meals so dropped by on a cool Thursday evening. We arrived around 7 and the place wasn't as busy as we expected. There was covered seating outside on the footpath as well as tables and benches inside. There was even an open air beer garden out the back which was cosy but a bit cold unless both outdoor gas heaters were going. There was a good selection of beers, spirits, wines and cocktails. In terms of food on offer, that night there was a selection of pizzas. We ordered a couple of pizzas that came out reasonably quick and we found them enjoyable. Only complaint would be the size, in that they could have been a bit larger for the price. Staff were friendly and made us feel welcomed so would be happy to come back and also recommend the Post Inn if you are in the area.

Amazing place! Josh suggested me a great wine, so definitely trust his recommendations if you come here. The atmosphere is friendly and cozy; and it is open until 10pm! We will definitely return to try the pizzas.

After driving past this place numerous times I finally found the time to drop in for a drink 🍸 and 🍕. The margarita is topped with plenty of sugo and the base is crispy. I recommend waiting a moment to dive in as it's served piping hot! Nice relaxed vibe full of other locals. The only drawback is noisy Heidelberg Road. Not much the owners can do about this, but some plants might help. Or the council put in some buffers along the footpath.

The Posty is the biggest hidden gem in Melbourne. By far the best place to have a beer in Ivanhoe. The owner Sam prides himself on great food home made food. I think the menu varies but if you get a chance to try the pizzas / meatballs or Salumi board.. you won’t be disappointed they are authentic and delicious. A couple of really cool spaces, out the back beer garden, out the front/ side & Dog friendly. Great tunes playing always. Inside is really nice with a few rooms upstairs as well each with their own vibe. Most importantly it’s great service, more then friendly, we have run into a bartender named Hamish or the “Hammer” probably up there with the nicest blokes on the planet. I rate this place so highly.

Good contemporary Oz vibe in this Inn with a great selection of beer, wine and cocktails. Made to feel very welcome by Sam behind the bar who shared a tale or two. Enjoyed a unique take on the Negroni, a loaded meatball pizza and a desert cocktail to finish. Classic art Deco building with some good music. Will be back for sure.

Amazing bar/bistro In an area where it is truly needed. I have been coming here for quite some time now and it never fails to impress. The staff and service here are unparalleled for the area and it has a very nice community vibe to it, breathing life into the local area. You can tell the owner/s really care about the place, providing a well decorated and welcoming environment for anyone wishing to spend time here. They have a great range of drinks and their meals are well priced and definitely hit the spot! Highly recommend to anyone in the area

Decent tea & coffee but not very mindful of food wastage in the way it's served. (Appreciate that you want me to have enough honey, but I'm not going to use 3 tablespoons worth for 1 cup. Ask me how much I need rather than over serving me; same goes for milk etc.)

Multiple varieties of coffee are available, and the staff really know their way around them. They also serve tasty regional Italian delicacies, and can recommend food and drinks to match. There is a nice community atmosphere as well, so will happily return to see the staff again.

Exceptional coffee and fantastic food! Couldn't more highly recommend a Mario's coffee and lunch. The staff are wonderful and always good to talk with. Make sure you stop by on your way to Darebin station or just when you're in the area.

Great location in a art deco building.Great choice of coffee blends that are available for sale. No tattooed bearded hipsters in sight. Food is simple, Italian inspired, and deliciously cooked and served happily by Shannon, Liam, Cassy, Jack and Vanessa, at reasonable prices. The coffee is made by Anthony mostly, a tradition carried on from his father, Mario. For friendly service, tasty delights, great coffee and ambiance you wont get any better than Marios in Ivanhoe or the surrounding area. Mario's is now trading in the evenings from Thursday to Sunday until late. A good selection of beers, sparkling and wines, nothing complicated just good simple fare and friendly service carried on from the afternoon either in the courtyard or on the terrace. Never disappoints.

As a local, it’s such a relief to see this space rebranded and reopened this week. Sam the owner is super friendly and the vibe is relaxed and welcoming. The coffee is decent and VERY well priced. Looking forward to coming back for a drink one warm evening!

Such a great place. We celebrated a milestone Birthday here and from the complementary drinks to the most delicious pizzas, to the Limoncello/Prosecco drink, it couldn’t be faulted. The hosts are delightful and friendly, the ambience is spot on, and the place is a gem! We live in Thornbury and are spoilt for choice, although The Post Inn is now on the list of favourites.

Finally popped in to have a quick beverage after eyeing off The Post Inn for a couple of months. Music choice is 👌, chilled atmosphere, loved the decor and style. Next time I’ll try the pizza’s, but from what I saw they looked pretty tasty. Definitely recommend if you fancy a quite one close to PT. Thank you 😊🍻

My husband and I stopped by for a cheeky wine and some toasties, with our newborn and were delighted by our visit. The staff were incredibly friendly and accomodating, and the wine list was very much to our liking! Just what the area needs. We will definitely be back!!

Delicious; traditional recipes of food! A nice spread of spirits, wine and beer (+specials like mulled wine!) But the thing that sets this place apart is the sense of home and hospitality you get from both the atmosphere of the venue and the service from the staff. Oh, and don’t forget the famous meatballs!!!! 5/5!!
