Very good coffee indeed. The roast their own coffee. Friendly staff. Will try their peanut butter nutella hot chocolate next time. Price at standard high end, but worth it. Can get discount if BYO. This coffee shop located at the bottom of a building, consider plenty of seats nearby. They provide for non dairy options. The only down side is you can accumulated any point like others do.

Wow! Classy little alcove in a handy location opposite Southern Cross Station, super friendly staff (hats off to them, genuine, heart felt welcomes and thank yous) and the coffee is perfect. A great range of pastries and coffee beans etc too. Will be back!

Carrot cake french toast... I lost my mind when I saw this on the menu and practically sprinted here HAHAHA FOOD & COFFEE: I ordered the Carrot Cake French Toast and it was... life changing. The toast is a carrot cake and instead of cream cheese you have mascarpone which was interesting! It took away the sweet aspect of the carrot cake but the carrot cake itself was amazing with it being moist and just the perfect level of sweetness! The pineapple was interesting and provided a fresh bit to the french toast! This is the BEST and most unique french toast I have ever seen and I’m so glad I discovered Code Black! Their coffee is really pleasant as well! SERVICE: Service is okay, not too great or bad. Team seemed a little less friendly than usual cafes but their good food makes up for it 🤷🏻‍♀️ Code Black has an amazing and unique menu that doesn’t deserve enough recognition and with the very dark and muted interior, its great for chill days! They also have wifi so it’s great for those off-day but you want to study days!

Staff are friendly and their cappuccinos are good. But I got their iced chocolate once which was a bit lacking.

Cool, calm, current. I met a colleague here for coffee on a business trip and was impressed with the care the staff provided in looking after us. The coffee was exceptional and they’ve even got a few gorgeously crafted mugs and goods for purchase. Indoor and outdoor seating provided.

Good small outlet for my favourite coffee brand in melb. Staff were plesant. Place was neat with a few nibbles available. Prefer the larger stores for coffee black, but would go here in a pinch for my caffeine top-up.

Great venue, I go here a lot for meetings with clients and my morning coffee. Excellent staff and even better coffee. It’s always buzzing which is cool

Why was this place on my to do list? Bad coffee. Burnt, over extracted and overly milky aftertaste. Not a discredit to Code Black, simply my own notes so I don't end up back here again amongst all the choices in this city.
