I've been here several times now for coffee, cake and breakfast. The place is OK, not a great atmosphere inside (quite cold) but with a nice terrace outside. As for the food: I'm vegan myself, so I love that everything's vegan. The smashed avo toast I ordered was delicious. That said, my (non-vegan) family members were less impressed. The tofu scramble was very plain and the porridge my son had very coconutty. When we came here for coffee and cake about a year ago, I remember we weren't very impressed with the cakes either. They were dry and not fresh. So would I come here again? Yes, because I like to support vegan cafes. But I wouldn't bring my family here anymore.

Plant-based cafe located in Templestowe that worths a visit! @powerplant_cafe serves tasty vegan food and some beautiful drinks too. Here we tried: 🧇 Sweet Potato Waffle (blached asparagus, mushroom bacon, sour cream & chives, puffed wild rice, hazelnut, romesco sauce) 🍔 Brekkie Burger (brioche bun, hash brown, smashed avo, scrambled tofu and tomato & beetroot relish) 🧇 Cherry Ripe Waffles (with Cherry Ripe Chocolate Bar) 🧊☕ Iced Coffee (with coconut ice cream) • To start off the sweet potato waffle was great! It was tasty as all the elements are working harmoniously to create a beautiful dish. The mushroom bacon was the highlight - the texture and flavor was amazing. The waffle probably as not as fluffy as the regular non-vegan waffle but still moist and tasty nonetheless. Recommended! • The brekkie burger was another good one! The tomato and beetroot relish was to die for. It looked a bit messy for a burger, however, it was surprisingly very enjoyable to eat - would love to have the chips included rather than as an extra. • Perhaps the only dessert item when we visited the cafe - a must order if you are craving for sweet dish! Loving the combination of sweet and sour of the cherry ripe and the strawberry. Coming from a non-vegan background, perhaps what feels weird for us was the texture of the waffle, quite chewy, mochi-like texture, maybe the lack of butter or other ingredients. • Overall, we highly recommend this cafe for something different. Friendly staff, great vegan menu, love everything we've eaten here. There are plenty of seating outside as the inside tends to get busy. •

Firstly, I'm not vegan and would never choose to be - this is context for what I say next. We came here to celebrate a birthday. The bright and airy setting gives the place a welcoming feeling and staff were friendly and helpful throughout. They even make birthday cakes to order, which was great for this occasion. Those who are vegan at the table enjoyed their meals, which came with fresh, wholesome ingredients. My jackfruit sandwich was bland for my taste preferences and the cake is, well, not for me. There are vegan places I praised enthusiastically and would return to. I guess this place draws its own crowd.

First time visiting, can't believe I didn't make the trip sooner! The food is SO GOOD, and my dog was able to hang out on the deck area while we ate. Coffee was also great and to my taste, but I like it strong. The fridge display of sweets had a wide variety, and there were doggy treats for sale too! I'm adding Power Plant to my regular brunch spots now 😊

Beautiful cafe and delicious food! Definitely worth the trek. We had breakfast here and also bought delectable cupcakes and desert for takeaway. Friendly, helpful staff and decent portions and prices. Definitely worth the trek if you're looking for a healthy and satisfying vegan meal. I made my own mimosa!

Okay power plant means the power of plants not a funky industrial style eatery. To my horror they only serve vegan. Yuk! My progressive daughter however enjoyed the "burger". I had French toast or at least their interpretation. I'm sure that they waited for the plants to grow, because it took them 45 minutes to prepare our order, the restaurant had 3 other customers.

Ok, it may be a mistake for me to review a vegan restaurant as I'm not vegan or vegetarian but a lot of my family are so I occasionally indulge. Compared to what I'd usually eat, not so enjoyable, so I'll have to compare it with other vegan meals I've had and use the comments / opinions of the vegans at the table to guide me. We started off with coffee, they have cow juice for the carnivores :-) so happy with that and vegans all enjoyed their brews. My chickpea burger with chips was on a par with other vegan food I've had, so nothing outstanding here. None of the vegans were raving about their food so let's say good. My kids didn't like the Mac and cheese (not really cheese) so I had to buy more chips as they liked these. The kids also enjoyed their cows milk chocolate milkshakes. Those that had dessert were very happy. It cost $60 for 2 kids and myself, so fairly expensive for what we had. Those of us that had been there before agreed we enjoyed the food better last time, so perhaps it just wasn't their best day today. Will I go back, reluctantly, would the vegans go back, certainly. So if your vegan, definitely give the Powerhouse a go, if not, I'd recommend your journey takes you elsewhere.

This vegan restaurant is a delight for the senses! They manage to delicately put flavour and taste in all their dishes! From breakfast to dinner to snacks the food is infused with unique flavours and unique scents! We had the green burger, loaded fries, choc sundae waffles and heaps of Mocha and lattes and capucchino's! I give them 5 stars and recommend the visit! The people who served me and my 11 family members were amazing! Their ability to cater for special needs for family and children is great!

Would give 100 ⭐️’s if I could. The service, food, cleanliness, portion size & quality are second to none. I highly recommend adding Power Plant Cafe to your list of places to visit. Don’t forget to grab a dessert on the way out 🤤

I purchased a cake from Power Plant for my Mum's 90th birthday. Vanilla with raspberry curd & coconut cream and a half moon roses & blueberry decoration. The cake was delicious and it looked simply stunning. Highly recommended.

Wow. My only criticism is that I’m not rich and can’t afford to eat here everyday. Hard to pick one meal off the menu. Amazing sweets and these chips changed my life. The staff seem happy, are lovely and attentive and it’s such a lovely space to brunch. We’ll be back! X ** UPDATE ** we’ve been back 😍

First of all the staff were delightful and I felt very welcome, secondly the food was DELICIOUS! The chips especially, like I think they’re my favourite chips now. I’m coming back here ASAP because I just want to eat this food forever. Pro tip- the food is hella filling, don’t scoff all the chips first.

I caught up with my vegan mate here and enjoyed sitting outdoors. I ordered vegan spanish omelette with hash browns and Watermelon juice. Food was pretty good but portion was huge and I wasn't able to finish it. Cakes on display looked great (never got around to tasting it). Cafe is in a great location, very dog friendly and lots of street parking available.

Came here just after 12pm for some brunch and coffee. Venue didn't seem too busy however we waiting approx 15min for a server to come over, only to be told the wait for food was 45min so we decided to order the sandwich instead and a take away coffee. The sandwich was prepared and only needed to be heated but we still waiting approx 15min for this to arrive, and the coffee 30min in total.... nothing wrong with the either product, both tastes great however the wait time left us a bit perplexed. We overheard that the kitchen had actually run out of food - whilst waiting for the coffee, we observed waiters messing around with cutlery etc. Whereas the sole barrista was getting absolutely overwhelmed. You'd think if there was no more food, that someone would jump in and help? Just saw they're closing down for good which is a shame, as would love to have tried the food. For what its worth, service was poor and very slow.

Great food, generous portions, reasonably priced, and friendly service... what more could you ask for. Although the menu is not extensive, it is varied and creative. We drove from Coburg to Templestowe and will happily do it again. We ordered the Power plant brekky, Buck wheat waffles with beetroot relish, smashed avocado and almond fetta and the Spanish chickpea omelette and all dishes were delicious. Walked out with a chocolate caramel cupcake and berry teacake for later. Such a pleasurable brunch experience.

Likes: I've been here before and really enjoyed the ability to choose from the menu without having to check ingredients. Does both brunch, lunch and cakes/sweets so easy to cater for whatever time you want to pop in. Staff were friendly, attentive, very tolerate of a toddler who couldn't sit still and service was quick. The long black coffee was nice and the raw mixed berry cheesecake was lovely although small for the price. Could improve: With the large range of plant based cafes in Melbourne (and regional Vic) now available and many cafes doing really good plantbased options, PP feels like it hasn't quite evolved to differentiate itself from the others. The menu is rather limited and not particularly unique. I was looking forward to the sausage roll but unfortunately it was extremely dry and completely fell apart on the first cut so it was more chasing crumbs and flakes on my plate. My friend got a side of chips and she said it was over spiced and salted, she ended up scrapping the salt off each chip. Giving 2 stars because overall I don't think the visit was value for the variety, quality and lack of wow factor. Venue was clean, bright and spacious but it did feel like it was lacking a vibe (no music and a bit cafeteria-like).

I just love this cafe. I've been going there for literally years. The food is always so tasty and it's a regular for me. I'm always meeting friends there. They love it too. I am addicted to their smoothies especially their Mr Peanut Butter one. Superb! Whatever recipe they use it's to die for. Their hot drinks are amazing too. There is a great outdoor area where your dog is very welcome. They even have beds for the dogs to lie on. Just so awesome! The staff are always so helpful and friendly. I feel so grateful this beautiful vegan place is near me.

An absolute gem of a cafe where everything on the menu is delicious. Make sure you order the chips! Have visited more than 10 times and will continue to come back. Really spacious with a big indoor area and two outdoor areas. I especially love coming here in the afternoon when the sun streams through the windows, such a warming feel.

Delicious vegetarian food. In fact it is such a shame it is not open in the evenings . We shared the green bowl, the breakfast bowl, a green burger and a bowl of the smokey hand cut fries. It was all delicious, tasty and nutritious.

The service is good, the atmosphere and layout is very good, and the beverages are also good. However, some of the food seems a little lacking. This may simply be due to personal preference, but I had their tofu scramble. It was dry, and it had turmeric on it. To put a long story short, it was fairly unpleasant. However, the chips on the other hand were very nice. I have had them twice now, the first time being the better experience. The chips were nice and crisp, with a smoky aioli. The second time, whoever cooked them didn't refry them enough, and some chips were a little overdone, whereas others hadn't actually been heated up quite as much and were only warm. Nevertheless, it still tasted fine.

Power Plant Cafe is my local weekly hangout. I cannot recommend it highly enough. From the friendly staff, to the delicious menu and really good coffee, its a dog lovers dream. The outside patio is a great place to relax in the shade with a coffee and a divine dessert, with your doggo at your feet. The caramel milkshake is my fave. I’ve tried, but I just can’t drink it slowly. The only problem I have when eating here, is that everything on the menu is so good, I can’t make up my mind.?

We ordered a chocolate and raspberry cake for my daughter’s birthday. Everyone came up to me and told me it was delicious! Definitely recommend if you’re looking for a vegan cake in the east!

Great food but slow service and can also get very busy at the coffee machine with walk-ins. Meals are a good size for the price. Lots of gluten free options available. Our spontaneous trip to Power Plant after googling 'vegan cafe' one Saturday morning was a great result! We each had a delicious breakfast - the scrambled tofu and the breaky bowl - and enjoyed the coffee (my partner is a barista, so his stamp of approval is hard to come by, and he had 2). The cafe was featured as number 1 vegan cafe in Melbourne on the website Broadsheet - that says a lot.

Power Plant Café is one of the few vegan eateries I would suggest visiting. The food was tasty, decently priced and the service was good. There is ample parking available but the café is attached to a swim centre, so it may become busy during peak periods. There is far more seating available than parks so keep that in mind. Worth the visit if you want to eat vegan or just don't mind.
