I just went there for a late lunch and was blown away by how casual, yet friendly and genuinely helpful people were. 6 months later: service still amazing; food is yummy as ever and with some new dishes on menu. When my Cheeky Benedict arrived - I was impressed by the chef’s presentation then totally delighted with my first bite into the delicious bacon & tender pulled pork composition. Wow!!! Thank you TFR for turning my simple lunch into a heavenly delight! 😍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😍

The Food Republic Cafe in Blackburn seems to be a community-focused cafe with indoor, outdoor, and semi-outdoor seating areas. It's great to hear that most of their brunch items are recommended, especially the egg benedict, and that the coffee is quite enjoyable. This cafe sounds like a wonderful place for families and friends to gather and chat on the weekends. The only disappointment seems to be the dryness of the chicken breast in their sandwiches. Additionally, due to a smaller staff, the service might not be as attentive as desired. Nevertheless, it sounds like a cafe I'd visit again, which speaks to its overall appeal.

Excellent hospitality by the staffs especially Darren. He was so attentive, all the food he recommended to us was delish. Feel so close to heart revisiting this cafe, good coffee too!

Good portion sizes of very tasty food and quite an extensive variety of dishes available. This cafe is busy, but somehow retains a cosy atmosphere and our group were still able to hear each other converse, despite the full house and appropriately soft background music playing. Our booth was comfortable and spacious, with room for a group of 4 to spread out Staff service was a major highlight- our waiter was thorough, friendly and considerate and checked in on us to make sure we were enjoying the experience.

Some of the best food I have eaten, very accommodating towards gluten free and vegan diets. Extremely well priced for the quality received. Would not hesitate to go back.

First time here and while the shopping complex and cafe looking rather old, it has a nice vibe, nice seating outdoor at the front with fake grass. Staff is very friendly and goofy. The music is a bit loud so we sat the furthest away from the speaker. Tried their calamari salad as recommended by my friend, and it looks beautiful when it came, they decorated it with some flowers too. Calamari was cooked nicely, although I would say for the portion, $27 is quite pricey. Actually, most things in the menu cost close to $30. So it is more on pricier side. Had matcha latte which was ok, not sweet at all so you can add sugar if you rather. Overall it’s a nice cafe to catch up as long as you don’t sit near the speaker. Food looks amazing but rather pricey.

Food was great and cafe has a good vibe, waitress a bit grumpy but not a deal breaker. Visited once again during lockdowns, got beautiful takeaway brioche and burritos. Flat white coffee was nice too

We always drove past the restaurant and wondered how good it must be to be so busy. So we finally booked a table on a Sunday for brunch. I ordered the Cheeky Benedict, the Food Republic and Omelette to share with my partner. Our plates came with a generous serving of bacon and enough portions of each item to balance the meal. It was wholesome, refreshing and filling all at the same time. The menu has a great selection that feels familiar but has it's own character. The service was great too! So glad we decided to check this place out! We'll definitely be back again!

The Food Republic located along Blackburn Road, has good and friendly staffs. The ambience is good. It is really a nice and cosy restaurant. We love their food especially the Omelette with chicken and Atlantic Salmon. The staffs know their menu well and gave us good recommendations.

I do not recommend going here. The food is nice but honestly nothing special. We made a booking for lunch and were made to wait by the entrance for an hour before being seated. No offer to provide us with drinks, nothing. When asking the staff how much longer the wait would be, they refused to help and mentioned the name of someone who would be apparently waiting on us today. As if we’d know the other person (by the name) to redirect our question? When we were seated, the food took almost an hour to arrive (including cold drinks) and we waited just as long for our desserts that never arrived and decided to leave. No apology. Will not be returning.

First time here, really enjoyed it. Friendly service. Choice of outdoor or indoor seating. I had the Vege Brekky, that was reasonable and large portion. Coffee was adequate without the real kick. Overall, would recommended and come again.

The Food Republic Cafe is a must try! Offering the best selection of brunch and lunch in Blackburn with an equal selection of hot and cold beverages. Coffee is great and complimentary to the food. Highly recommended.

Are we have a new shining star in in the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Very friendly and comical staff food was an excellent quality not overly fancied up with sauces, dressings and mayonnaises you could taste everything going on individually. The extensive menu to and good specials board . Best cafe I've been to within a 15 km distance of Box Hill.

Having Sunday Brunch in here. We actually really enjoyed everything. Apart from seating outside on rainy day. Good Coffee Good Service Good Food Can’t complaints.

Came here on a Sunday arvo to catch up with a mate. We ordered the chicken souvlaki open plate and the BLAT on toast. The BLAT was good, the chicken souvlaki was ok, but the chicken unfortunately lacked a bit of flavour and it was relatively overpriced ($31.00) considering the average quality of the open plate souvlaki. The staff were very friendly and checked in with us frequently. Overall good experience but the chicken souvlaki can be improved for taste and pricing!

Been going in here for years now, and probably should’ve left a review ages ago! My two favourite things on the menu are the Cheeky Benedict and the Vietnamese Slaw Salad (with chicken). The coffee is also great and the people are friendly. Have known John, Max and Axel for quite a while now and they’re all great dudes. Would recommend.

We had an enjoyable lunch experience today. Meals were delicious. We had the sticky date pudding to share. It was decadent and delicious with a very generous amount of sauce😊. A slight point perhaps more vegetarian or vegan options🙏

Great atmosphere, must sit outdoor to feel fresh air with food. Great coffee and food. We had Wagyu beef burger and Egg Benedict, Egg Benedict was good, Wagyu beef was just over salted.

A1+ Highly recommend for fabulous service, coffee and food. Max makes great coffee and all staff have always been friendly. The lasagne was the best we’ve ever had. Even purchased a take away one too. I didn’t want my smashed avocado with bacon to end it was that good 😆 Heaps of different seating inside and out. A great place to meet friends.

Good coffee and great service. There are a lot of seats both inside and outside the cafe. I was asked my choice of seating before placing my order. I ordered a latte which promptly arrived. I spent more than an hour and was asked if I was okay as I was focused on something. I was offered water to make sure I was okay. I will visit the place again if I get the chance. Thanks.

They used to be good, but not today. Over cooked bacon as show in picture, it tasted bitter. Provided feedback to the cashier and waitress.hope they can improve in the future.

Still a great cafe to spend a chill weekend brunch. Good food, generous portion and great services.

The got plenty empty seats , and close at 4pm. We arrived at 3.10pm, lining up and waiting to be seated .There was a group of 6 people right in front of us and they had them seated. We clearly heard the staff told them the kitchen would be closing at 3:45pm, the last order by 3:30pm. While when it’s our turn (around 3:15pm), we were told that we could not be seated at dining area and can only order cake and coffee from the counter. We wonder why we were treated differently without a proper reason.
