πŸ‘ 5 stars for the baked goods and customer service. Bruce and the team were friendly, talkative and kept us feeling special and welcomed. Salted egg and almond croissants were perfect. I used to buy these from Cru+ which has now closed. Thank goodness Lights in the Attic are still making them. Crispy... People often mention cafe, croissant, good, staff,

5 stars for the baked goods and customer service. Bruce and the team were friendly, talkative and kept us feeling special and welcomed. Salted egg and almond croissants were perfect. I used to buy these from Cru+ which has now closed. Thank goodness Lights in the Attic are still making them. Crispy, flaky, light croissants. Highly rated in Melbourne, amongst the best. Love their own takes. I guess the charcoal may have masked some of the buttery flavour, but the pastry is beautiful. Paired with the salted egg yolk- perfect! The almond croissant was well balanced. The tiramisu pastry was also delicious. The custard was coffee laced and great. The Danish was not as good. Perhaps it was a little stale, wasn't crispy like the others. Cold brew was smooth. Dark in colour but good. The letdown was the food, hence overall 4 stars weighted towards the pastries and coffee. The Reuban sandwich was dry, hard and didn't have the love that is in the baked goods and coffee. It was below average, could be improved with more beef, a nicer sauce, buttered/toasted bread. Was served with a side salad. It was a hot day and warm inside. It is a real bakery lab! The chef was experimenting with a new creation which were we're lucky enough to try out and provide feedback. Exciting to know that they're staying creative and innovative in continuing to improve and grow the range on offer.

We dined in a few weeks ago at this pleasant modern cafe with a interesting menu which has a slight fusion look to it. The smashed avocado came with a wonderful beetroot hummus and feta as a side option but it was the selection of pickled vegetables that made this dish unique. The buckwheat corn fritters was also a good choice with soft poached eggs with that golden flowing centre. Coffee was good and service prompt and friendly. I liked that when we still hadn’t decided and needed a couple more minutes the hospitality staff gave us that space.

We visited Lights in the Attic for the first time as despite it being around for years the menu has never particularly appealed to me. It has a heavy Asian influence and I prefer my breakfast fare a little more basic. Service was friendly, my iced chai tasty and the chocolate brownie very decadent and rich. Kind of wished I’d ordered the chicken burger which looked really yummy instead of my dish which was very sweet so if I am ever there again that will definitely be my choice

Drop there and got two crossiants in the morning. I got a matcha and salted egg croissant. They actually surprised me!!!! I’m a guy who is strict with the quality of good croissant! A perfect croissant has to be crispy outside, buttery and fluffy. Also the croissant should be not over sweet. The matcha croissant is bitter and has really strong matcha flavour, I love it! Salted egg has strong custard flavour as well!! Hands down they are delicious!

The baked goods were much better than the actual cafe experience where the food was very average, we had charsiu pork Benedict & chilli egg scramble both of which were not very good... We thoroughly enjoyed the salted egg croissants though.

Nice little cafe in Hawthorn. The menu seems Japanese inspired. Interior is cute with pink accents, a nice place for a catch up. The mentaiko toastie had a nice flavour but portion size was a little underwhelming. Yuzu ade was really pretty and quite nice.

Unassuming little cafe that has its own artisan bakery attached to the cafe with several choices of pastries but also have a decent menu

The food was disappointing. We ordered the Eggs Basket with Scotch Eggs and the Spicy Pork Sub, unfortunately we had to send the wedges back because they were cold in the middle. This was similar in the potato rosti in the Eggs basket dish. The staff was apologetic! Other than this, cute and quiet cafe, despite construction work across the road. Lovely staff and perfect long black! πŸ‘Œ

Food was at expectation for a Melbourne cafe, however service was quite slow on the weekend despite not being a full house. That was my only complaint as it was otherwise a pleasant experience

We dined there this morning - found a hair in my food so notified the staff who instead of replacing the whole dish (despite food hygiene standards) decided to only replace the items with hair on the plate. Also, my wife is pregnant so we'd spoken to the wait staff who agreed to substitute the raw tomatoes for cooked mushroom free of charge (as they cost the same on the menu) - then once we paid we noticed we'd been charged for everything including the replacement mushrooms. Upon notifying the manager he contradicted everything his staff member had said and made it a point to make us feel like we were in the wrong and should be charged for the mushrooms as a side. Definitely have lost the human element and overall terrible experience. The place may look nice but it's processes for dealing with this are completely inept and the management are clearly solely focused on profiting rather than their customers.
